Hey! I just got back from camping nearly two whole weeks, five days ago, and I'm so sorry for not posting this earlier. Also, I don't think I've made this clear yet. Tim is 14, so that means he's been with Selina for 9 years, and has been her sidekick for 6.
Also, I'm going to try something new. I've seen other authors answer their reviewers questions for the previous chapter, and I want to give it a try. So, review if you think this is a good idea or not.
ToughGirlsRuleTheWorld: I promise I'll have someone say it, probably Jason instead of Dick, because you're right, it really does need to be said :] And I won't go into specifics of which chapter, but it will be a while before they find out Tim's Bruce's child, and Damian's twin.
Willakarra: Red Hood isn't a villain in this story, he does work with the bats, but I'm going to try to work in some of the ways he used to do things before he used to work with them after he came back, because really, if I didn't, then Jason wouldn't be as fun to write.
Mireilles3: Yes, Damian is the Robin in this story, and the only reunion there will be so far is just with Helena.
As for all the others, thank you all for reading my story, and reviewing. I also want to give a special thank you to booklover1698, who has reviewed in every single one of my stories, ever since I started writing my first fanfiction The Wayne Twins, and still reviews my stories now.
Disclaimer: I do not own DC Nation, sadly. If I did, Tim Drake would have his own comic again.
Talia POV
I looked down at Selina Kyle, laying on my couch. She was covered in cuts and bruises, blood caked over her skin, and her chest rising and falling shallowly.
"My father's ninja's attacked her?" I asked, looking at Janet in the corner of my eye.
Janet, dressed in her business suit that was somehow not at all ruffled from her rushed flight to the palace, nodded. "She was leading them away from Timothy while he went to get Helena Kyle. She had lead them to a construction site in the western coast Gotham, and attempted to set off more than two dozen bombs, which she set up discretely while fighting Ra's ninja. It would have wiped out all of the ninjas attacking her and would have taken herself out in the process as well, but one of the ninja's noticed however, and disabled them. By the time your ninja came, they had already beaten her, and she was moments away from dying. Ninety percent of Ra's ninjas there were taken out by your ninja, and the rest escaped. Her major injuries have also been taken care of on the way here, she needs rest before she will be able to wake up, let alone be able to talk to you."
I looked back at Selina, staring at her with blank eyes as thoughts swirled around in my head. "I've already pressed my luck getting you inside the Palace with this woman, and I can't have her staying here for too long. Move her to one of my bases nearby." I said. "I do not care which one, and don't tell me either. If Father finds out you were here with Kyle somehow, then the less I know the better."
"And when she wakes up?" Janet asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Then call me, and I will talk with her later." I said, finally turning away from the woman that Timothy called 'mom'. "What about Timothy's father, has he made any move against my father's ninja?"
Janet shook her head. "From all the damages that have happened, Batman has no doubt heard the reports of the attacks, but from what we can tell, your father has ordered his ninja to stay away from him. Ra's doesn't want Batman involved in this war."
I closed my eyes, nodding. "I see. For now, keep sending me reports from my ninja. I'll figure out what to do about Bruce."
I didn't tell Janet that I wanted Kyle moved because it hurt to stay any where close with the woman who my son called 'mother'; Kyle a perfect reminder of what I had lost because of my father.
Tim POV
"So this is the secret entrance near Gotham's Northern coast Mom always talked about." I mused as I walked up the stairs of one of the many entrances of the Batcave, Helena drooling lightly on my shoulder as she slept. I bit my lip as the bats echoed throughout the tunnel, the pieces of paper in my hands feeling like a ton of bricks.
Each step I took made me feel worse, the pit in my stomach growing deeper and darker. I knew what I was doing was the right thing; Helena would be safe and protected inside Wayne Manor, and not one ninja would be able to touch while she was there. After all, she would be protected by the best security system ever created, and some of the best vigilantes ever born. But I knew the word for what I was doing; abandonment.
I was abandoning my little sister. And I knew from personal experience myself, she was never going to forgive me for this. She would never look at me the same way, with those eyes that screamed 'I love you', ever again. But as long as she stayed alive long enough to hate me for doing this, I couldn't find it in myself to care that she would curse me the rest of her life.
I continued to walk up the steps, getting closer and closer to the end of the tunnel. This path, Selina had told me, lead to the display area where Batman kept the giant penny and dinosaur, and I would have to walk down a small set of stairs to get to the main platform. I just hoped that Damian wouldn't be in the cave when I walked. Knowing him, the demon would only make things worse.
I scowled, thinking of the demon prat.
Flashback
I grinned, my half masked reflection in the display case glass mirroring the movement, right before I lifted it gently over the necklace.
"Tt. I can't believe Batman sent me to take out someone like you."
I turned around with the necklace in my hand, my eyes widening under my goggles as I ducked under a leg, the display case glass shattering to pieces as I rolled away from him. My eyes grew even wider when I looked at him completely, before narrowing into slits.
The person who had tried to smash my head into the display case seconds ago was a boy dressed in a Robin suit, probably my age, smirking at me as his entire body practically oozed overconfidence. To make it worse, his nose was held high in the air like he was royalty, fueling the burning hatred that had started to form in my stomach. Who knew it was possible to hate someone at first sight so much?
"Batman finally decide to get a new bird?" I smirked, slipping the necklace into my belt pouch. "I have to admit, I'm shocked. He usually doesn't let his birds go off on their own so soon."
Robin twitched for a second, his smirk faltering, before he smirked wider. "I'm better than the rest. And I thought that Cat lady would be smart enough not to let her stray go off on his own. Especially when he goes off to steal a cheap spinel necklace."
I twitched, my eyes narrowing as my smirk shrank to a small upward tug of my lips. Batman's Robins kept getting ruder and ruder every time. At least Jason got Selina's name right. "I've helped Catwoman ever since I was eight-years-old, she knows she can let me off on my own after two years of work." I said simply. "And besides I don't steal for worth."
Robin narrowed his eyes at me, his smug smirk twisting into a confused scowl. "Then why steal in the first place?"
My smirk came back full blast, my teeth showing in the moon lit room. "Because, it was shiny."
Flashback
After that, Damian had scoffed, and told me I was an idiot before attacking me. We were both equally matched that night, the both of us fighting for hours calling each other things like 'ass-butt', 'plebeian', and other things that no 10-year-olds should have known. Me and Damian probably would have gone at it till the sun rose, if Nightwing hadn't gotten worried, searched for us, and brought us both to our mentors after he found us that night.
We hated each other from that point on, neither of us really understanding why we hated each other so much, just that we did. It was like a never ending feeling of pure hate and annoyance, like we were genetically hardwired to hate each other.
And despite the fact that we had helped each other many times over the years, unwillingly and very rarely willingly, that deep hate in both of our hearts never changed; much to Mom's and Nightwing's amusement, saying that we fought like 'brothers' all the time. Which led to our very first truce, to blackmail Selina and Dick before they could spread that horrible, horrible lie.
As I got closer to the end of the tunnel, I saw strands of light poking out through the hidden door, the brightness so much different from the complete darkness of the tunnel. I squinted at the light, shifting Helena carefully so that I could open the door, and gently slid the door before I became blinded by the light. I blinked, my vision fuzzying for a minute before my eyes started to adjust to the light. And when I could finally see, I gaped in awe.
Even though I had been Selina's sidekick for 6 years, I had never seen the batcave. Sure I had heard stories about what it looked like, about all the different things that Dick had made Batman keep, how Batman kept a whole level for his batjet, and how the bats pooped on Damian once when he first arrived. But seeing the batcave in person,- the lights that illuminated the place, the high tech machines that made my fingers twitch in want while the gears in my head begged me to find out just what made it all tick, and the overwhelming sense of amazingness- was completely different from hearing a story.
But I wasn't here to stare and awe. This had to be done.
I looked at the platform in front of me, before taking in a shaky breath, and looking down at Helena. "I am so sorry for this, Helena." I whispered. "I hope you'll forgive me for this one day."
And I started to walk down to the main platform.
"I have to admit, this place is cleaner than I thought it would be. I expected there to be blood all over the floor." I said, my voice echoing through the cave, causing the entire Wayne family that was on the main platform, to turn around as I placed a fake smirk on my face. "But that's probably because of Alfred, right?"
"Tt. How did a pest like you manage to sneak into the Batcave?" Damian hissed, narrowing his eyes at me in disgust, curiosity, and what I think was respect. I wasn't too sure, after all, that look wasn't easy to catch on the demon brat's face.
My smirk widened, even as I stiffened more as Nightwing, Red Hood, and Black Bat stared at Helena in my arms. Their gazes at her made me feel even worse about this, the looks in their eyes reminding me that I wasn't just abandoning Helena right now; I was betraying Mom. I was betraying the woman who saved me, and her wish to keep Helena a secret from Bruce. And with all the things going on, it made my insides crawl and the pit of my stomach some how grow deeper, even though I didn't think it was possible with what all the ninja's that I've talked to today have said.
But their stares of bewilderment and curiosity weren't as bad as Batman's. The look Batman gave me made me feel like he was analyzing me, staring at my very soul for the answer to why I had a toddler in my arms. Like, if he stared at me long enough he would find out all the answers he needed to know.
I shrugged stiffly, trying not to shuffle Helena in my arms too much that she woke up. "We cats have our ways. After all, we are thieves; finding ways into highly guarded places is kind of our job." I said, simply.
"Timmy, why do you have a toddler in your arms?" Nightwing asked, who at some point taken off his mask, still blinking like he was trying to make sure what he was seeing was real.
I sighed, not able to hold my smirk up anymore, and my shoulders slumped. This was the time, I had to give Helena up. "I'm here, because she's Bruce's daughter. Bruce's and Selina's. And I'm leaving her here."
Ra's POV
"That boy is only fourteen years old, with limited experience in hiding, and a medical condition that makes him weak." I hissed, glaring down at White Ghost in front of me. "Why is he not dead yet?"
"He fought off the first ninja who attacked him at Gotham Mall, defeating him by somehow dropping hundreds of Christmas presents that had been tied to the roof, on him. That ninja has, of course, been eliminated before he could be arrested by police. The rest of the ninjas you sent after him, went after his adoptive mother." White Ghost said. "Ninety percent were wiped out however, by Talia's ninja, before she could be killed. One other ninja that had not been with the others went to look for the boy, and is MIA, though he is most probably dead."
I growled under my breath, my knuckles turning white from gripping my throne's arms too hard. "So this is a war, then." I said to myself, before looking up at White Ghost. "Bring Talia to me. It seems like I have no other choice but to deal with her now, rather than later."
He bowed, before rising up and saying, "Yes, Master."
"Oh, and one more thing." I said, stopping White Ghost just as he started to leave. "Call Deathstroke, after you bring Talia to my room. I want to set up a meeting with him as soon as possible."
"Do you really expect us to believe this?" Damian hissed, his eyes narrowed in a glare, his arms that had been crossed over his chest, now at his side in clenched fists.
"Trust me, Helena's his." I said, holding up the papers I had picked up before I came here. "These are copies of her birth certificate, and a blood test done on her by Leslie Thompkins when she was a few months old. It came out a one hundred percent match, Helena is his biological daughter. Look at the papers if you don't believe me."
Batman, who had been silent the entire time while everyone looked at me in shock or disbelief, stood up from his chair, and walked over to the papers in my outstretched hand. He looked through them, his eyes quickly scanning over each page quickly but efficiently. "You're not lying." He said, looking down at me.
"Of course not," I said, rolling my eyes. "Would I really try to sneak in here without setting off alarms, if I had been lying?"
Batman grunted. Jason barked a laugh, a shit eating smirk on his face as Dick stared at me and Helena in confusion, and Cassandra looked at me curiously. "Seriously B, what villainess have you not slept with yet?" Jason asked, his smirk growing as Bruce glared at him.
"Why would Selina want me to know about Helena now?" Batman asked, looking away from Jason and down at Helena sleeping in my arms. "And why does she want Helena here?"
I swallowed thickly, walking past him so that I could settle Helena down in his chair. She made a few sounds in her sleep, muttering something under her breath, before she rolled over and became silent. "Because….. she doesn't." I said, closing my eyes.
"What the hell is that supposed to mean, kid?" Jason asked, his smirk dropping.
"Exactly how it sounds." I said, taking a few steps away from Helena. "Selina, the last time I talked to her about this, said she wanted to wait to tell you guys till Helena was older. But with everything that's happened… it can't wait. Helena needs to stay here."
"What do mean 'with all the things that's happened'? Tim, why does Helena need to stay here?" Dick asked, frowning, his eyes laced with concern.
I sighed, feeling the exhaustion of everything that's happened today finally catching up to me. My body ached from the constant walking and fighting, I was tired, and felt like shit. And honestly, I didn't want the bats involved in this. If they knew about what had happened all day, they would want to help search for Selina. And as much as the help was wanted… that meant less protection for Helena.
And Helena's safety, was just one thing I couldn't risk. "Just take care of Helena." I said, turning around to leave where I came.
"Tim, wait, you don't have to do this on your own. Tim!" Dick called to my back, his voice echoing through the cave as I continued to walk to the exit, tears filling my eyes.
"TIM!"
Just for anyone confused, natural Spinel is very rare, and not that expensive compared to other jewels in high demand, like, diamonds, or sapphires. The price goes down even more when it's a Spinel necklace, but, it does shine a lot more than other more popular gems. Or so someone said when I looked it up.
So, I hope you guys liked this chapter! Remember to review!
