Chapter 29:
(Bella's POV: Bella's Chambers; Texas Compound)

"It started from when I first opened my eyes…" I swallowed the lump of emotion welling up in my throat. "Sam was the only one there. He told me what had happened to me and that I had been burning for 7 days. He also mentioned that I would scream in agony if anyone mentioned Jake's name." I closed my eyes as I felt Jasper wrapped his arms around me. "I knew I couldn't stay in Forks, because the wolves had decided that the best thing to do would be to fake mine and Jake's death since none of the humans in town could know the truth."

"Go on, Darlin'." Jasper coaxed me as he pressed a kiss to my shoulder.

I nodded as I continued. "All I wanted to do was get away from everything, every reminder of what I'd lost, what I could no longer have..." I took another deep calming breath even though I didn't really need it. "So, I jumped into the water and felt myself sink to the bottom like a rock. I could remember my human life with perfect clarity, except it was like I was looking through a foggy glass where I could still make out the important details. At that moment, the thing that stuck out to me the most was how Edward was telling me vampires didn't need to breathe. So, I decided to stay under the water, because it was the only place I felt I was safe."

I dropped my head and nuzzled under Jasper's chin. "It wasn't until I felt like I was going crazy in my own head that I finally surfaced." I closed my eyes as I remembered the scent of the humans on the boat as I broke through to the surface. "There was a boat nearby, full of sea goers and fishermen. They didn't even have time to speculate what was happening as I jumped on board and drained everyone. They even had a dog - which I killed and tossed over board when it tried to attack me. It took me a few minutes to realize what I had done, thus I started to tear the ship apart to cover my tracks. I made it look as though pirates gotten a hold of it and killed everyone on board. I took anything of value to keep up with the rouse, and then went back into the sea and started to swim south."

"Why did you wanna go south?" I could feel the curiosity burning within him as his gift began to leak into the room.

I smirked as I pulled back and looked into his eyes. "I remembered this one day when Edward had asked you and Emmett to watch over me. You two were talking about some of the bad times going on in the south." Jasper's eyes widen. "I couldn't understand most of what was said but I could make out some words. Like, Vampires, south and territory. Even with my human eyes I could see some of the marks on your skin and I knew what had caused them." I ran my hand across a patch on his forearm before turning over my wrist where James had bitten me, telling him without words that I had known what had caused his scars since I had the same kind of crescent shaped scar. "As for the reason I chose to come here, it was because I wanted to be strong and brave. I knew I couldn't be like that if I stuck around humans and played make-believe that I was one of them. I could see how hard it was for all of you to blend in as it was and I didn't want that for myself. I wanted to embrace what I'd become and make the most of it."

"You're amazing, Darlin'." Jasper nuzzled my neck. "To come down here of your own free will, knowin' that it wasn't a safe place, a war zone." He shook his head as he shivered. "Even if it's not nearly as bad as it had been before the Volturi interceded, it only made those who still owned territory all the more lethal, careful and calculating."

I just nodded and went on with my story. "I arrived to find that the warlords were fighting during both the day and night." I shook my head remembering when I first arrived. "It was awful to watch. There were many times we were almost found out because of the highways that crossed some of the territories and the vampires that were careless. There were about six warlords when I'd arrived. The smallest was the easiest to get rid of." I smiled at the memory. "I'd learned to develop my shield rather quickly so it wasn't hard for me to kill the first warlord and talk to his newborns on my own."

I sighed, recalling the memory of my first recruit. "Raoul was his second in command. None of the warlords allowed mated couples to exist within their ranks, because of the problems that they could create. Raoul had a friend that had been changed, but she was taken from a mental hospital. He believed that she was his mate, thus the reason he was about to be destroyed when I'd arrived to challenge his creator." I looked at Jasper. "I could see that he cared for her. The way that he looked at her was so full of anguish and love. It was then that I'd decided to change the ways of the South.

"There were more couples mated in secret than anyone had come to realize. Of course, they didn't trust easily, but when the rest of the soldiers saw how Raoul was able to exist openly and happily with his mate, more couples began to reveal themselves, even if they weren't exactly mates.

"The same thing happened with each warlord and territory we conquered. Since the newborns didn't know how to live any other way and learned that with me, they didn't have to hide, they were only too eager to join me and grateful for my intervention. Not to mention, I'd been honest with them from the start about their choices and made sure that they realized that they were no longer prisoners, they could come and go as they pleased and didn't have to worry about being destroyed as long as they were loyal and honest. From what I'd observed, it makes for a better soldier than how they were treated before." I smiled to myself as I remembered the gratefulness and joy on each soldier's face as they learned that they didn't have to live in constant fear or starvation. "Some were in worse condition than others, but over time, they began to loosen up."

"What about those who were loyal to their creator?" Jasper questioned.

I sighed sadly, "Each situation was different. There were some who were happy with the way things were run before and would try to bully the others in brutal ways. Others would fight to the death upon capture. There were two who pretended to pledge their loyalty, only to reveal their true colors later. All except one had to be disposed of."

A growl rumbled in his chest as he pulled me tighter into his embrace. "What happened?"

"It was the second territory we'd taken over. The second for this woman who'd surrounded herself with an all-male army. She was much like Maria in the way that she'd use sex to control her newborns. Her second believed that she loved him, even though it was clear she used the same ploy with all ten of her newborns. When I gave him the choice to join or leave, he left only to come back later on with an army of his own to try to take me down. By then, I'd expanded my territory and size of my army, so they were easy to defeat. He told his soldiers that I was evil and killed his creator; made up all sorts of stories to entice them into following him. From that point on, I knew that I could never let another like him go free. It would only come back to bite me in the ass again later."

"And Peter and Char?" He questioned. "How did you come across them?"

I smiled fondly at the mention of two of my closest friends whom I considered family. "Actually, they found me." I grinned. "It was about six month after I'd arrived in the South. Peter's knower had informed him that something important was happening in the south, where he and Char were living at the time in Texas. So, they began to ask around and ended up running into Raoul when he was taking a group out to feed. They were curious about me and the man they had met with that night was a friend of his. He explained that they were good people and merely curious since they lived in the area and didn't belong to any army. He brought them back with them to meet with me after they were done feeding. I immediately liked the both of them and we became fast friends, even if we didn't see each other much. He was rather shocked to find out that I was the same Isabella Swan that you were protecting when they visited you guys in Forks before."

Jasper chuckled, "Yeah, I can imagine so."He paused, a thoughtful look on his face. "How did ya find out about Victoria comin' back?" Jasper asked as his hands started to rub circles on my thighs.

"Sam came down and spoke to me about a year after I'd left Forks." I cringed as I remembered how he'd acted upon seeing my soldiers and how we lived. "He wasn't at all happy with how things were going down here, but I told him that I was only feeding from animals, which I was at the time. I had been around humans and never attacked, so Sam said that I was safe enough to travel north and help them finally destroy her. She had been causing all sorts of trouble in Portland as well as the reservation." I sighed leaning against him for strength. "Before I left, Peter told me that no matter what happened, him and Charlotte would always be there for me. It was a terrible battle, but I made sure the wolves made it back to the reservation. It wasn't until Sam was getting ready to leave with Seth that Sue came into the clearing holding some clothes and all hell broke loose."

I whimpered as I felt Jasper tighten his arm around me. He must've had a feeling that this was where things went bad. "I never did believe Edward when he said that smelling one's singer was something akin to chocolate for humans, that it was an uncontrollable urge, but worse for a vampire since they ran mostly on instincts. But when I smelled Sue, it was all over. It was like getting hit with a sledgehammer. None of the wolves could move fast enough to stop me from draining her. I couldn't control myself. I couldn't even think straight." I gazed off into the distance as the memory played in my mind. It was times like this that I wished vampires didn't have such a perfect memory.

Venom welled up in my eyes as I spoke, "I knew then and there that feeding from animals would only caused you to fight what you really are and make it worse for your control when you needed it the most. It was then and there that I decided to stick to the diet of human blood. Of course Sam was upset, along with Leah and Seth, but Seth told me that he didn't blame me for what had happened, but I knew I had to leave before Leah attacked me."

"You're so brave, Belle." Jasper whispered as he held me tightly, rocking me in his arms. "So much braver then I had been."

"I think you were brave for getting out when you had the chance." I whispered while turning around in his lap. "You could have let the years you fought in this place destroy the good person inside you, but you kept a hold of that human part. It made you into the man I care o much about today." I kissed him, my hands weaving in his curly hair.

Jasper opened his mouth to say something only to be cut off when a knock came to the door. I chuckled as I sniffed the air.

It was Nick.

I stiffened as Jasper leaned in and kissed my neck before moving off of the bed and heading over to the door.

I knew that no matter what my son had decided, I would love him forever and help him live with the consequences of his decision.

I quickly slid on my robe as the second knock sounded just before Jasper opened it to reveal Samantha and Nick standing there on the other side. I knew from the way that Samantha was acting that Nick had decided to try to bring Didyme back.

I smiled as I moved around to the end of the bed and motioned them inside.

"Mother." Nick stared at me as he held Samantha. "I've decided to try." He bowed his head as Samantha whimpered. "I know what will happen, but I have faith that I can handle whatever the price is. With you, father," that caused Jasper's eyes to widen at the name, his eyes filling with venom, "And my mate, I wont lose too much of myself." My heart filled with love and awe for my son, so wise and righteous beyond his years, beyond his physical age.

Jasper frowned as his eyes went to Samantha. "Are you sure you're ready for this, lil' one?"

Samantha nodded with a sad smile. "Nick is my mate and I will stand by him no matter his decisions." Her voice was rather soft. "I'm just glad that my sister and her mate, along with his brother are away from Maria." She shivered causing Nick to hold onto her tighter. "There is something else, M...Mom."

"What's that?" I smiled as I felt my heart swell with pride and affection for my new daughter.

"Maria had gone up north for some reason." This caused me to stiffen as Jasper flitted to my side. "She said something about a Fork."

"Forks," I whispered.

I didn't say anything else as I darted towards the nightstand on my side and yanked the drawer open, pulling out a cell phone to dial Sam's number. It was then that noticed how many missed calls I had.

My heart was in my throat as I heard someone answer through the speaker.

"Hello?" It was Sam.

"Sam, it's Bella." I said as my eyes flying to Jasper. "Has anything..."

I didn't get to finish as Sam started to speak again. "I'm sorry, Bella, but we couldn't stop them." There was a pause on the other end of the phone. "Both Charlie's grave and Jake's were -"

I didn't let him finish as I dropped the phone and darted out the door with Nick, Jasper and Samantha following behind me. My mind was going in circles as I moved through the halls and towards the main part of my compound.

Did Maria really bring my father and Jacob back? If she did, would they remember me?

I felt an unknown emotion clogging my throat as I heard a loud howl. It sounded the same as when Jacob had howled when Victoria had bitten him.

As soon as I reached the set of double doors, I flung them open and frantically looked around until I saw Peter, Emmett, Raoul and Angela trying to calm down Charlie and Jacob.

If my heart was still beating I knew right then and there that it would've stop. A sob rose up in my throat as I stared at the two men in my life that I'd thought I lost for good.

Before I could take a single step, arms wrapped around me as a deep threatening growl echoed throughout the large room, causing everyone to stop and turn towards me and Jasper, who was holding me so tightly in fear.

"Bella?" Charlie whispered, his red eyes looking me over. "Is...Is that..."

"Dad?" I whispered as I pulled myself out of Jasper's arms and suddenly flew into my father's arms. "I'm so sorry." I whimpered as I was shaking, crying. "God, I'm so so sorry..."

"Shhhhh." Charlie tried to calm me as I felt a whoosh of air before the scent of a strong sweet dog-like smell mixed with pine and a woodsy scent.

I pulled my head back as I looked up into the slightly familiar face of my own personal sun and father of my unborn child. Jake looked so much different since his eyes were no longer dark brown but a deep red. He and Charlie looked the same, yet different at the same time.

I smiled as I felt venom tears cloud my vision. In the second that it would take a human to blink, Jake had me in his arms as I dry sobbed loudly. He began to rock me as Jasper's scent drifted towards me and my heart pulled. I knew he was nearby, but I couldn't help but remember how it felt to watch Jake die as I killed our child. Jasper must have understood, because he didn't say anything as Jake held me. He could feel my emotions and knew I needed this. I could also smell Peter and Raoul nearby and I could hear that Angela was speaking softly to Charlie as I continued to hold onto Jake for a few minutes longer before finally letting him go.

"Jake, I can't even tell you..." I whispered as I kept my eyes on the ground, ashamed to meet his eyes.

A large dark russet colored finger raised my head up to look into his red eyes. "You don't have to." I could see the emotions reflecting in his eyes. "No matter what happened that day, I could never regret what we had even for the short time we did."

I looked at him, reaching up to run my fingertips under his red eyes. "How is this possible? You're a wolf and a vampire?"

He scratched his head. "I really don't know. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I was brought back after I was bitten. I wish I knew." He laughed. "How long has it been anyway?"

"We'll talk about it later." I smirked as we all lapsed into silence.

"Bells?" Charlie whispered as I snapped my head towards him. "I know I never said it much, but I love you, kiddo." He smiled as he cut his eyes over to Jasper. "Although, I now know why you always looked like you were in such pain. Both of you should have told me." Jake and I both stiffened as Peter smirked.

"There was a reason I couldn't tell you, dad." I whispered as Jasper moved to my side and wrapped his arms around me. "But since you know now, I would like you to meet your grandsons and granddaughters."

Mika and Ashton appeared beside Samantha and Nick. The older two were standing off to the side by Emmett and Rosalie. Charlie gasped as his eyes widen. Jacob stared at the four of them as he blinked a few times. I could tell they were both shocked by the fact they were so young. I also saw Jake's face fall as he looked at Nick and Mika. I knew he was remembering our Samuel.

"Jake?" I whispered as I moved towards him.

Jake's eyes were filled with venom tears as he stared at the four children. "Are they...did you..."

I shook my head as my hand went to my stomach. "No," I whimpered as I moved towards him. "I saved Nick from one of the warlords that liked little boys." I swallowed as I dropped my eyes. "Mika was turned by Maria., the warlord I destroyed. When I turned, I...I killed..."

Jake pulled me into his arms and didn't let go, even with Jasper growling. "You didn't kill our baby, Bells." His voice was clogged with emotion. "Victoria was the one who did that. I knew as soon as you were bitten that I had lost you, but I loved you more then my own life."

"I wanna thank you for takin' care of my mate, even when I couldn't." Jasper spoke up as I pulled out of Jake's arms, pulling me back against his chest. I knew that his mating instincts were screaming at him, warring with his mind, and I appreciated that he put my needs before his own. "We had no clue as to what Edward told Bella."

Rosalie snorted as she flipped her hair over her shoulder. "The idiot told us that Bella wanted us to go." Her eyes softened as she looked over at me. "We all had our reasons, but none of us knew how he'd left her in the woods."

"Boss?" I heard Nitro speak up from beside Sai, Faia and Uri. "What should we do with the others?" She nodded towards the small group of no more then four vampires.

I stiffened as Jasper moved back to my side. I slid my mask into place and placed my hands behind my back. My red eyes were narrowed as I moved slowly towards the group that stood together. I tilted my head as I noticed that they were no older then 20-26. Great ages for fighters because they were faster then older humans who are changed. I noticed that there were three males and one female. The males had formed a circle around her as if they were protecting her. I knew that Emmett and the others would keep Charlie and Jake quiet, because I needed to be the Warlord of the South, not someone's daughter or friend.

"Why did you not attack after Maria was destroyed?" I sent my shield out to encase their minds. "I can only guess that was your orders."

~I told Maria that she shouldn't have brought those two back.~ The front male thought as he stiffened. ~They will ruin the plan.~

I narrowed my eyes as I sniffed the air only to find four separate scents. None of them I knew thus I didn't know what to expect.

I felt someone move to my side and glanced to my right only to see Charlie standing beside me with his eyes narrowed. I raised a brow as he cut his eyes towards me then back to the four standing in the small group.

"The front vampire is called Nole." Charlie smirked as Nole snarled. "He doesn't have a gift other than the fact that his strength is stronger than any newborn's." His eyes moved towards the shorter boy to the left. "The boy to the left is Chris. He's a tracker." Chris hissed at Charlie, but the other boy, who looked to be the youngest, stiffened as his eyes met mine. "And the youngest of the boys is Travis. As far as I know, he doesn't have a gift, but the girl -"

A loud hiss came from the middle of the group. "She's rather talented." His eyes closed for a minute. "She's a shape shifter."

"Really?" I smirked as I tilted my head. "I suspect that the four of you know who I am?" I raised a brow at them in question.

Nole stood straight as he glared at me. "We know who you are." I could tell he would take a little to break. "But we don't answer to you."

Uri snorted as Faia elbowed him in the ribs. "I believe you do." I told him as I narrowed my eyes. "Now move aside. I would like to see the woman you are hiding."

"No." Nole snarled as he glared at me.

I could feel everyone holding his or her breath as I growled deep in my chest. My eyes were darkening as I encased every one of them in a separate shield, then pushed them apart in a way so I could see the woman who was behind them. They stared at me with wide eyes as they moved to the side revealing a woman with dark skin, brown hair and blood red eyes. If my heart had been beating, it would have stopped because of the fact I was looking at the one person I never thought I would see again.

Sue Clearwater.

She was just staring at me as Charlie stood beside me, stiffly. I could feel the protectiveness radiating off him and could only guess that he recognized her as his mate. I thought it was rather ironic.

The other three males were snarling at me, but I ignored them as I moved a few feet towards Sue. I could see her flight or fight responses were kicking in, because of the way we last met. I knew if I called Sam he would most likely want Sue and even Jacob to return, but then again, with her being a vampire, I doubted it. Both of her children would destroy her out of instinct. From the way she was standing I knew she would most likely bolt if I didn't say anything.

"Sue?" I whispered as I looked to the woman who was my singer as a human. "Do you remember who I am?"

Her red eyes darkened. "You killed me." She hissed as I saw her muscles tense. "I was human, had a family then was sudden brought back only to be turned into this monster." Everyone tensed as if to spring, but I held my hand up for everyone to stay where they were. "YOU DID THIS TO ME!"

It was then she lunged. I pushed Charlie out of the way as I turned and grabbed Sue by the back of her neck and brought her to the ground. I was on top of her before anyone could move with my nails digging into her throat. Her eyes were wide as she stared up at me. I knew now I had her attention.

"I did not do this to you." I growled putting only a little more pressure on her throat. "If you want to blame anyone, I want you to blame the bitch Maria who brought you back from the dead." I could see she didn't want to believe me. "When I attacked you Sue, I drained you. I didn't put any venom inside of you because I killed you. You were my singer, I'm sure you know what that is by now." I stood in a fluid motion, holding my hand out to the woman.

"Then how am I here?" She didn't take my hand as she jumped to her feet and stood there looking around.

Nick cleared his throat. "You were brought back." He whispered as he held onto Samantha. "There was a vampire that had the gift to bring people back from their ashes." Nick turned to look at Charlie and Jacob. "That is also how you were brought back."

"Bella?" Charlie whispered as he looked from Sue to me.

I closed my eyes because even Iz didn't want to make an appearance in front of 'our' father. "I'm sorry, dad." I whispered as I turned to the other three. "Now, what should I do with you three?"

"Just kill us." Nole snarled as he crouched inside the shield. "Because I won't bow to you. Maria was my mistress."

"That's to bad really." I sighed as my shield closed in around Nole, turning him to ash in the blink of an eye. "How about you two?" I raised a brow looking at both Travis and Nick.

Nick spat on the ground. "Fuck you, bitch." His eyes were pitch black.

"Such a waste." I sighed as I destroyed the next vampire. "And you?" I looked at Travis and could see the fear in his eyes. "If you want to live, all you need to do is be honest and loyal. Once you are a part of my army, my family, you will be here until I see if you are able to control yourself. Then, you may come and go as you please."

Travis stared with wide eyes at me. "You...you would let m-me leave?"

"After you can show me that you can control yourself, yes." I narrowed my eyes. "I have no problem with you going off on your own, having a mate, but I want to make sure you can stand in the middle of a crowded room full of humans and not go crazy and expose yourself."

I could already see the answer on Travis's face, but I wanted him to say the words. "I... um... I want to live."

I nodded as I turned to Sai and Faia, "If you two would take Travis towards the training area, show him around, feed him and show him to his room." I saw Nitro and Uri grin. "I would also like him retrained. I'll deal with Jake, Charlie and Sue."

"Yes, Boss." Sai nodded as she gestured towards the training area. "Let's go, boy." She smirked at seeing Travis growl, but head in the direction.

I just chuckled as I shook my head turning towards Charlie, Sue and Jake. I didn't really understand why they were here, but I suspected that Maria was going to use them against me. Either way, I knew that I was given a second chance. It was then that I remembered how Nick had told me that he'd agree to bring Didyme back for Marcus.

I looked to Jasper and took an unneeded breath."Will you please take Sue, Charlie and Jake to feed?" I asked him and hoped he could feel my worry. "I need to make a few calls."

I could see Charlie, Sue Jake and the others frown at this, but Peter just stood behind the others with a smirk on his face. I narrowed my eyes at him, causing him to swallow as he dropped his gaze. I knew then that he knew something.

Jasper must have sensed that I needed to speak with Peter, because he dragged Jake out of the room with Charlie and Sue following along with the others.

Nick, Samantha and the other kids headed back into the building, no doubt heading for the gaming room. I saw Charlotte inching further away from her mate as a grin spread across her face. The woman may not have a gift, but she knew when I was pissed, upset or angry.

I was about a foot from Peter when he noticed that Charlotte was no longer by his side, but on the other side wall.

"Char..." Peter started to speak, but she just shook her head.

"I ain't gonna help ya here, Peter." Charlotte raised a brow to me. "I know he's been hidin' somethin', but I don't know what." She placed her hands on her hips as she moved to my side. "What do you know, Peter?" Her eyes narrowed on her mate as Peter swallowed, his body tensing.

"Well..."
