The Cullens were nice enough to pay for our tickets despite efforts on the parts of both Leah and Charlie to the contrary.

"They do that," I informed the two as we settled in. "but only to nice people." I had no idea how to tell them that I didn't know why.

I ended up sleeping the entire way back.

I told Edward that I would love to go to prom with him. I didn't tell him that I had yet to figure out why he chose me, or why everyone else (even Rosalie was nice to me on occasion.) was so intent on liking me. I just went along with it. I got my clumsiness from my father but according to Charlie, dancing is just following the leader and Edward could make sure I didn't fall. I think he has more respect for Edward because the Cullens went after me when I "ran away."

Charlie took pictures and Leah got to come over and then we went to the Cullens' house and they took pictures and there were probably enough to fill up fifteen different books. Rosalie called me a princess and said I would do fine. Emmett ribbed me about Cinderella tripping over her own feet but I knew it was in good fun. Alice shrieked and squealed but I got the message. Jasper nodded regally, an indifferent look on his face but approval shining in his eyes. I was glad he felt some kind of way about it, even if he didn't gush over me like the others. Right before it was time to leave, I made my way to Jasper, who raised an eyebrow at my sudden appearance.

"Do you have nightmares?" I asked. Wait… he can't sleep! Why did I ask him that when he can't sleep?! To my surprise, he nodded.

"They're easier to get over if you have someone by your side." He admitted.

"What if I don't?" I asked. I did not like where this was going.

"I'll make sure you do." I blinked in shock at his statement. So simple but it carried a lifetime's worth of emotions.

"I think I can try the same." I offered.

"Thank you, little one. I'll keep that in mind. Now," He smirked not unkindly. "I believe the prince awaits."

I told Leah everything when I got back that night. She smiled a patient smile and pulled me to her.

"It feels like you've grown up too fast," She murmured.

"We all have to grow up sometime, Mom. I'll still be me." I assured her. She laughed and closed her eyes. If my hair was wet when she let go, neither of us mentioned it.

"I'm so proud of you," She told me. "You're handling things extremely well."

"I have you to help. And Andrew, and Dr. Cullen is a great listener, if you want to borrow him sometime, and Edward, but he worries a lot. I think I might start talking to Rosalie and Jasper more often. They seem pretty cool."

I think I talked myself to sleep because the next thing I saw was my parents. Jason and Leah were laughing as he twirled her around a grand ballroom floor without a care in the world.

THIS IS WHERE IT ENDS! Thank you all for the encouragement and following me through this story. Let me know if you want more! -Cinderfire
