Chapter Seventeen: Downfall
"Sir, we're approaching Tokyo Harbour. We'll be over the drop zone in two minutes." The pilot of the Cargo plane said. "What's the status on the evacuations?" Hunter said, leaning in. "Evacuation process is uh...46 percent complete, there's still people trapped in the city, and with Godzilla roaming round..." The pilot grimly trailed off.
The inside of the cockpit was swallowed in darkness as a large shadow suddenly cast over the plane. Empress Ghidorah screeched as she let out a long burst of energy from one of her three heads, the energy bolt struck one of the buildings below, enveloping it in fire.
"Go, Now! You gotta jump!" The Pilot roared as Hunter turned to the main cargo bay, rushing his team into the Anguirus APC. The plane shook violently as an entire section of the fuselage was torn away in an explosion. Hunter was thrown to the floor before he could climb into the APC, which slid down the ramp and out of the rear hatch, which had ripped away too. The Anguirus, with most of Hunters' team in it, fell from the back of the plane and tumbled at immense speed to the ground.
As he got to his feet, Hunter saw that Zack had been left behind by the APC too. "GO! NOW!" Hunter roared. Zack nodded at the command and dived out after the Anguirus, as it was the only source of parachute.
Hunter turned back to the cockpit of the Cargo plane as the Pilot turned, screaming at him to jump, when suddenly, the cockpit, -with the Pilot still inside- was enveloped in flame as one of Ghidorah's energy bolts struck the plane head on.
The force of the explosion blasted Hunter out of the rear of the plane, he managed a final glimpse of the wrecked C130 Cargo Plane before it exploded in mid air.
Hunter tucked hsi arms in and leaned forward, making himself more streamlined so he fell faster. He quickly caught up with Zack and the Anguirus and locked his hands round one of the safety rails on the side of the tank.
Zack yelped as his hand slipped and he fell away from the Anguirus, but before he could tumble too far, his ankle caught on a safety rail as he was suddenly jolted down. He roared in pain as he grabbed onto the rail again, turning to Hunter, "I -I think My leg is broken."
Hunter nodded "Hold On." He said slamming his fist on the hull of the Anguirus, and suddenly, the APC's parachutes de-ployed and the tanks' fall was slowed to a survivable speed. Jackie opened the hatch and beckoned the two in before they quickly sealed the hatch.
Hunter helped Zack into one of the seats and examined the wound. Zacks' ankle had caught on the safety rail, the resulting jolt had dislocated his knee and possibly fractured his thighbone. "Agrh, I don't think I'm gonna be of any use from here. Sorry Hunter." Zack said, groaning in pain. "That's not true, you're still alive, aren't you?" Hunter said, grinning.
