Chapter Twenty: Anger
Zack watched on in horror as the Tokyo Tower collapsed, "Everybody get down!" He roared as he dived to the floor of the APC. The falling building rocked the Anguirus and almost flipped the tank end over end. The Twelve Ton tank was hit badly by the impact, being thrown sideways, caving in most of the wheels on the right side, rendering the vehicle inoperable.
Hunter shook disorientation from his head as he at up, looking round. "Everyone okay?" He asked, getting to his feet. "Yeah but the Anguirus is toast." Angel said, looking round at the inside of the crew compartment as monitors and electrical panels dangled from the ceiling where they had been smashed loose. The compartment was sunken in darkness save for the red emergency light.
Jackie got up and kicked the rear hatch of the Anguirus repeatedly until, finally, the rear hatch swung open, letting the crew compartment be filled with natural light. "Come on! We can still make it on foot!" She protested. "Agreed, I saw the Rodan go down near that courthouse, we'll be able to make it if we run." Hunter confirmed.
"Hunter...I can't. My leg's broken..." Zack said grimly. "If you can get the Missiles back here, I can lure Ghidorah over and get it to eat the Anguirus, that way, we -I- can blow 'em to kingdom come and end this once and for all!"
"No bloody way! I'm not leaving you here!" Hunter shouted in response. "I've been a soldier for most of my life, It's my duty to help others. Staying here, I'll be able to at least help stop Ghidorah. You don't want to stop me carrying out my duty, do you?"
Just then, Hunter heard someone shouting. He turned to see three people running towards them. As he focussed his gaze, he realised that the approaching trio was actually Thompson, Rosa and Serizawa. "Hunter! Thank God you're alive!" Serizawa called out.
"Hunter! are you insane?!" Thompson roared, storming over to him. "You almost compromised this mission, had we died back there, there would've been no-one left to keep the monsters in the city limits!" Hunter clenched his fists in anger. "How is this my fault?! What the hell is wrong with you?!" He screamed in anger.
"I knew you couldn't be trusted as a commander!" Thompson shouted, grabbing Hunter by the collars of his jacket and pulling him closer. In response, Hunter swiped the Agent's arms to the sides and landed a heavy punch on the left side of Thompson's jaw, knocking the man flat.
He knelt over him, letting loose a flurry of violent punches as he roared in anger. Before he could seriously injure Thompson, It took all of Serizawa's and Angel's combined strength to pry him away from the stricken CIA Agent.
"Hunter! Listen to me! You need to calm the hell down, We need you!" Angel screamed at him. In the past, Angel was more of the silent type, but in wake of the hell around them, Hunter knew she was angry.
"Hunter. She's right. Just get the missile back here and we'll get this thing done." Zack said calmly but firmly. "we're so close. I need you and Angel to stay here, help me set up the Mesa Cannon." Hunter finally unclenched his fists and nodded, "Alright...Alright I'm on it." He said, turning to Rosa, who was helping Thompson to his feet. "Rosa, Thompson, Serizawa; Get the Missiles."
"Consider it done." Thompson said, wiping blood from his nose. The trio began to run back to the Courthouse where the others were...
