'Sulpicia!' I called from the doorway to Rose house.
It was the attractive and traditionally-designed farmhouse with 5 reception rooms and 7 bedrooms that was on the same plot as the mansion. It was made from the same flint and tiles as were all the houses but more homely than the mansion no matter how much I love the library. My darling daughter, of dark brown curls, pale skin, golden eyes and my dimples, and her father came running from the surrounding trees and into the setting sunlight. Alec began to sparkle but Sulpicia being 1/4 human didn't . She wasn't the opposite of me in the fact that she grew slowly instead of at a speed. She leaped into my arms and pressed a kiss to my cheek. She was 8 years now though she looked about 5. Alec came up at a slightly slower pace and wrapped an arm around me. I leaned up a placed a kiss on his lips as Sulpicia giggled and Alec and I laughed as we turned to go back into the house.
Jane met us at the foot of the stairs, she visited often and I loved how were like a proper family, that our little one lived separately from the rest allowing little holidays to Italy every summer and every other Christmas. We had a perfect little system going we would always go to Italy in summer to see my father and the rest of the family but everyone other Christmas, instead of going there, we went over to America and my uncle.
Edward had finally found that girl I said he always would, a beautiful women of 17 with straight red hair and a nature that kept Sulpicia entertained for hours on end. We were finally back to the way we were, I could sit and talk to Edward about music and just about every subject under the sun just like we used to so Christmas was never strained. My aunt and uncle spoiled little Sulpicia but I couldn't say I saw surprised since my Uncle had spoiled me just as badly when I was little.
The life I had now was more than I could ever have wished for and all the trouble we went through to get here even seemed completely worth it which at the time I never believe it would.
'I'm going to go tuck her in,' I told Alec and Jane. I found it strange that, while I couldn't sleep, Sulpicia could but for me and Alec that was something great. Not because it gave us some alone time, though that was welcome, it meant we got to do the whole tucking in and story telling.
We would always want another child, a sibling for Sulpicia, but my pregnancy had been dangerous for my health and therefore we had never risked it again but Sulpicia was complete perfect that I didn't mind so much. I left my husband and his sister to talk and walked up the stairs to the room that had stairs conjoining to Alec and mine which had perfect when she was younger.
'Mama,' her soft melodic voice said from where she had rested her head on my shoulder.
'Yes, darling?' I whispered as I placed her on her bed and the two of us began getting her undressed.
'I love you.'
'I love you too, my darling angel,' I laughed. 'but that's not going to get you out of going to sleep.'
I laughed more when I saw her jolt her head slightly as thought saying "damn it" in her head. I brushed her hair from her face, smiling at her.
'It's bed time no arguments.'
'Yes, Mama,' she replied obediently and I rolled my eyes, she was too cute for her own good.
Once I had tucked her into bed and read her a story, Alec walked into the room causing her to become excited all over again: she was a complete Daddy's girl. I kissed her goodnight and then got up from the bed hovering in the door way as I let Alec have his time with our daughter.
'Good night, Cia,' he whispered, pressing a kiss to her head and allowing her to wrap her small around his neck and hug him. 'Love you.'
'Love you more,' she giggled.
'Not possible,' he pulled back and switched the small night light beside her bed on and in turn I switch off the main light from where I was leaning against the door frame with my arms crossed and a soft smile on my face.
Despite her unwillingness to go to bed, she feel asleep quickly and Alec and I stood together just watching her sleep, his arms around my waist and my head resting on his chest. I relished in the quiet moments like this when my life seem complete perfect.
'You guys are naturals,' Jane grinned and we turned to see her smiling at us. 'That's one lucky little girl.'
Alec and I smiled at her before following her back downstairs to continue our perfect life together.
The End
