Erik's POV

I clutched at Elphaba's waist as we flew above the ground. Elphaba, though, acted as though this was an everyday thing. How do you get used to this? I'm not afraid of heights, because I hung around the rafters in Paris so much, but this is a bit much.

"You came to New York flying, didn't you?" I asked into the wind. She just nodded, looking into the horizon at something. It looked like a bubble. This is one of those times when I wonder about my sanity. A giant floating bubble in the sky? Wake up Erik, I thought, pinching myself. Nope, I'm awake.

"Going down." I barely heard Elphaba over the wind in my ears. Oh God. I squeezed my eyes shut as we descended. Going down was even worse than being physically in the air. My heart was in my throat when I felt my feet touch the ground. I cried out as we spun out of control and my arm hit the ground, jarring my wrist.

After I got footing on stable ground, I cradled my possibly broken wrist, and gritted my teeth. Elphaba came running up to me, a look of concern mixed with horror on her face.

"Oh God, I'm so sorry, I can't control it when I'm worried or anxious."

"It's fine." I said through clenched teeth.

She sent up a green flare into the sky, muttering more undecipherable phrases. I said nothing as an iridescent bubble floated down from above the tree line. The closer I got, the clearer I could see the figure inside the bubble. It was a girl wearing a very big ball gown-style gown. Elphaba advanced toward the bubble and stood in front of it while it disintegrated around the girl. Galinda. I could tell from the description of an overly-dressed-up-girl description that Elphaba gave a little over a month earlier.

"They're coming. Elphie, they're coming." Galinda said frantically.

"I know, they already came." Elphaba replied frustrated. "I thought you were running Oz now?"

"The rebels. Those Witch hunters, they think I'm your accomplice. They won't have me running Oz. Now they're after the both of us."

Elphaba's eyes grew wide and she took Galinda's shoulders. "Why would they think you're my accomplice if you didn't try to clear my name?"

"I-I..."

"You promised!"

"I'm sorry, Elphie, I didn't know… I'm sorry!" Elphaba looked up at me, her eyes full of worry.

"Galinda come here." She said, walking over to me.

"Who is this?" she asked when she finally noticed me. She stared at me, particularly the right side of my face, but by now it didn't bother me.

"Erik. He broke his wrist when we landed. You need to heal it." Elphaba said.

"Elphie, I don't know if I can. Can't you?"

"Galinda! Do you want him to be a scarecrow?!" she shouted at Galinda. She took a breath. "I left my book with you. Do you have it?"

Galinda tapped her wand above her hand and a large leather bound book appeared in her hand. Elphaba took the book from her and started thumbing through it, trying to find a spell to fix my hand, I suppose. Suddenly she shook her head and dropped the book to the ground.

"No, I can't do it. It'll go wrong. Something will go wrong."

"Elphie-"

"No! Just please, try. I don't want anything to happen."

I knew from what she told me on her first night on Coney Island that she was afraid of turning me into a scarecrow like she had Fyero, or something worse like she had done to her sister. I don't know how I would ever be able to cope with magic. Galinda heaved a sigh and tapped my wrist with her wand. I sucked in a breath. Even the slightest touch hurt. Nothing happened, so she tried again, this time muttering a phrase under her breath.

I felt something shift in my wrist and the pain was gone. Yes, handy, magic was, but a bit scary. I rolled my wrist just to make sure that the pain was gone. It was.

"Thank you." I don't even think Galinda payed any mind other than a slight nod of the head before turning back to Elphaba.

"Where's Fyero?" Elphaba asked.

"He- he"

"What?!"

Galinda turned pale. "He's with the witch hunters. He thinks you abandoned him as a scarecrow, so he's with them…"

"I told him I was leaving! I couldn't bear to see him in such a state every single day. It hurt me to see him like that and know that I'm the one who made it so." Elphaba said on the brink of tears. I touched her shoulder and she turned to me and buried her emerald face in my shoulder. I could feel her tears soaking into the fabric.

"That's- that's not it, Elphie."

"What now?!" she cried into my shoulder.

"He has powers now." Elphaba pushed away from me, her face stunned as if she had just seen something impossible happen, not that there's anything in my book more impossible than this.

"That's not possible," she said, wiping tears away from her face. "He isn't a wizard…"

"You transferred some of your magic into him when you changed him. He must have absorbed it somehow."

I just stared and listened to a conversation that I could barely follow along on.

"Please, let's just wait till morning to sort all this out." Elphaba said shakily. Amongst all of the chaos, I had barely noticed that it was dusk and semi dark already. Galinda nodded and led the way to a small clearing not very far away from where we landed. I gathered a pile of wood ad Galinda set it ablaze when I came back.

After a small supper of berries, roots and nuts, Elphaba almost instantly fell asleep leaning against my chest. She looked so peaceful; you could never tell something had happened.

Galinda was busy occupied with the leather bound book, so I laid out against the grass with Elphaba using my chest as her pillow. Maybe if I just fell into a deep enough sleep, it would all be normal again. Elphaba would be performing, and I could finish Wicked. I knew that would never happen though, for I'm a very light sleeper.

SO MUCH CHAOS! Oh well, that's kind of what happens when you're two super wanted people teamed up. Thank you guys for helping because I've been having major writer's block on this lately. Hope fully, after all of THIS, it will get the ball rolling a bit.

Thank you all for bearing with me. R&R please? BTW, my WIFI is freaking out, so yeah… I had to refresh it about seven times to get this posted. Ahh the things I'll do for you. ;D
