Chapter 2:
Meanwhile:
Not long after Carter returned from his run-in with the brothers, Stone's company arrived. Carter met them outside he was shocked, it was like looking at female versions of the Wild Ratts! The one with blond hair smiled uneasily at him, he put on a fake smile as he held his hand out to them and spoke trying not to choke on his words.
"Hello, I'm Carter." He said, hating having to pretend he was nice it made him want to bang his head repeatedly off a wall.
"Hello, I'm Emily and this is my sister Lainey." She said shaking his hand.
"The Sutton sister's right?" He asked shaking Lainey's hand.
"That's right, Mr. Stone is expecting us." Lainey answered.
"He is, please follow me." Carter said trying not to throw up from the sickening niceness.
"Are you a scientist too?" Emily asked studying the large man as they walked inside.
"Me? No, I'm just Mr. Stone's assistant." Carter answered. "Here we are."
They went into the control room, and saw an older man standing by a wall with pictures and papers taped to it. Seeing them come in he smiled as he walked towards them, meeting them halfway, he held out his hand as he spoke.
"Ah, you must be the Sutton's?"
"We are, I'm Emily and this is my sister Lainey."
"Nice to meet you both. I'm Thomas Stone." Stone said smiling. "Thank you for coming."
"Well when you explained about the lion being in danger, we couldn't refuse." Emily said.
"I was hoping you'd say that! Please have a seat, would either of you like a drink?" Stone asked leading them to a table.
"No, we're fine thanks." Lainey answered as they sat.
"Very well, let's get straight to business then. As you know, I am a scientist and I came to the Savannah to find the beautiful, white lion to observe and study him. Unfortunately, today while Carter was out checking on a pride of lions for me he was attacked!" Stone said.
"Attacked? By what?" Lainey asked.
"Not by a what, but a who! The Wild Kratts to be precise!" Stone answered.
"Who? We've never heard of them." Emily said, neither sister noticed the look of surprise pass between Stone and Carter.
"I'm not surprised, not many people do unless you have a run-in with them." Stone said trying to hide his surprise that they didn't know who the Wild Kratts team were, he thought everyone knew them! "They're a group of five friends, led by two brothers; one older, one younger, their names are Martin and Chris Kratt. The team are cruel people who capture innocent animals to use for their own selfish plans! The brothers told Carter they're after the lion too, and that is why I came to you for help! We need to find the lion before they do; time isn't something we have a lot of! Will you help me?" Stone asked.
"This is a lot to take in!" Emily began as she looked at her sister. "Can we have a few minutes to talk about it alone?"
"Of course, of course! You may talk in here, Carter and I will step into the hall." Stone agreed smiling as they got up and left the room.
Once alone neither sister spoke, both unsure about anything they were told by Stone. Emily stood and went to the wall, and began looking at the research on the lion as well as the many pictures; stopping on one of the brothers. Lainey joined her, both sighed, something still didn't feel right to either sister, and their instincts had never been wrong before.
"Do we accept?" Lainey asked, hoping her older sister knew what to do.
"Part of me says yes, but another part of me is screaming no!" Emily answered sighing.
"What part do we listen to?" Lainey asked.
"I wish I could tell you we say no, but we really don't have a choice…we have to help! We can't let the Kratt brothers find the lion! Once the lion's safe, we'll break ties with Stone! Sound good?" Emily answered.
"Okay, let's get this over with quick! I don't like any of this Em's!" Lainey agreed.
"Me either! Come on; let's go tell Stone he has two new partners."
Three Days Later:
After realizing that Stone was going after the white lion, and being unable to locate Stone's jet the Wild Kratts team knew they needed to hurry and find the lion before he did! Three days later the team were no closer to finding the lion, on the third day Koki scanned the area and found two different prides near the Tortuga's location, so the brothers went to check them out while Koki searched for more.
The first pride wasn't the one they were looking for, so they quickly headed for the second. After parking the Createrra, the brothers got out and crept through the tall grass until they were at the edge. They watched the three lionesses and six cubs playing and enjoying the afternoon sun. They couldn't be sure if this was the pride they were after since the male was out on patrol. After watching the lions for a few minutes the lionesses suddenly became alert, they stood up and began looking around uneasily as they growled low in their throats. The lionesses then quickly gathered the cubs and took off into the grass disappearing, the brothers were confused; they knew it wasn't them that spooked the lions, but couldn't see what else it could have been. They stood up and walked into the clearing looking around, trying to figure out what was going on.
"What do you think spooked them?" Martin asked.
"I don't know, I don't see anything. Do you?" Chris asked confused.
"No, nothing." Martin answered. "Maybe we should…"
"Martin, over there in the grass!" Chris whispered cutting Martin off as he pointed in front of them.
"I see it! You go right, and I'll go left." Martin said quietly as they separated.
The brothers snuck up on whatever was hiding in the grass, just before they grabbed it they both were attacked by two people jumping on their backs.
"What the…who are you?" Martin demanded as the brothers tried to get their attackers off.
"Let go!" Chris ordered as both brothers finally managed to pull them off.
"Who are you and why did you do that?" Martin demanded again as the brothers finally got a good look at their attackers, both brothers were in shock seeing them. "Uh…Chris, are you seeing what I' am?"
"I' am!" Chris answered as they both looked the now standing girls up and down. "You two look a lot like us!"
"What? You two are completely blind! We look nothing like either of you!" The blond said, as the brown haired girl agreed.
"Alright, fine, whatever!" Martin began coming back to reality. "Why did you attack us?" He demanded.
"That's what you do when you're trying to stop someone!" The blond answered.
"Stop us? What are you talking about?" Martin asked confused.
"Time out!" Chris said, he was just as confused as Martin. "We're getting nowhere like this!"
"What do you suggest we do?" The blond questioned.
"First off, who are you?" Chris asked a little annoyed with the blond's attitude.
"Now, what makes you think we'll tell you that?" The brown haired girl asked.
"Okay…I'm Chris Kratt, and this is my older brother Martin." Chris said trying to play nice, there had to be a reason the two girls disliked them.
"Fine! I'm Emily Sutton, and this is my younger sister Lainey! There are you two happy now, you know our names? It doesn't really matter anyway, we're still going to stop you!" Emily said as both sisters smirked.
"What are you talking about? Stop us from what?" Martin asked frustrated.
"Stop playing dumb! We know all about you and your team!" Lainey said.
"You do?" Chris asked confused still as he looked at his equally confused brother.
"Yep! Mr. Stone told us all about you and how you want to capture the white lion!"
"Stone!" Both brothers said together angrily.
"You're not going to hurt another animal as long as we're around!" Emily warned them.
"Wait, don't tell us! Stone and Carter told you we were the bad guys right?" Martin asked.
"He did! That's why we're here!" Lainey answered.
"They lied to you! We're the good guys!" Chris said.
"We've saved animals all around the world from people like Stone and Carter! You have to believe us!" Martin added.
"Why should we believe you? You're bad guys, you lie!" Emily replied.
"If we were bad guys; which we aren't, don't you think we would have attacked you by now?" Chris pointed out, the sisters looked at each other.
"Stop trying to use your villain mind games on us! There's nothing you can say or do to convince us you're good guys!" Lainey said quickly, Martin threw his hands up in the air as he sighed, both brothers were beyond frustrated.
"Chris, this is pointless! They won't listen to us, Stone's messed with their head's! Let's go back to the Tortuga and figure out what to do!" Martin said he's words directed to Chris, but his eyes never left the sisters.
"Yeah, you're right bro." Chris agreed. "This isn't over! We will stop Stone and prove to you we're the good guys!"
"Not if we stop you!" Emily said as both sisters smirked again, the brothers looked at each other smiling.
"You'll have to catch us first!" Martin said as the brothers took off running back to the Createrra.
The brothers ran with the sister's right behind them, not wanting the sisters to follow them to the Tortuga they decided to lose them. The only way to do that was to use their Creature Power suits! They looked around and saw a herd of zebras, quickly they activated their suits transforming into zebras just as the sisters found the herd. Smiling to themselves, they watched as the girls tried to figure out where the brothers were hiding. Both brothers had to force themselves not to laugh when the girls walked past them…twice! Finally unable to find the brothers they gave up and decided to return to Stone's jet, before they left Emily's radio came to life she took it out and spoke.
"Go ahead Carter."
"Mr. Stone asked me to check on your progress." Carter said, the brothers looked at each other confused…Carter was being nice!
"We had them, but…they escaped somehow!" Emily answered angry the brothers got away.
"What?" Carter yelled, sounding like his normal self. "I mean…come back to the jet and we'll figure out our next move!" Carter said trying to control his anger.
"On our way!" Lainey said as the call ended.
"Where did they go? It's not like they could just vanish into thin air!" Emily said as they looked around. "Come on, let's go back to the jet. Maybe Stone knows where they went?"
After they left the brothers made sure the sisters were truly gone before they deactivated. They then rushed to the Createrra, once in the jeep Martin drove while Chris called the team and told them about the sisters; none of them could believe the sisters were working with Stone and Carter. By the time they returned to the Tortuga the team had gathered all the info on the sisters they could find. After going over the info all five agreed that the sisters were usually as kind and nice as the brothers. They knew the sisters would make great allies against Stone and Carter, but first the team had to figure out a way to show them the truth!
Later:
After losing the brothers, Emily and Lainey returned to Stone's jet, they went inside and were greeted by Carter, he spoke.
"Mr. Stone's in the control room, waiting for you!" He said as he walked away not giving the sisters a chance to respond.
"Wow! That attitude!" Lainey said shaking her head as they went to see Stone.
They knocked on the door before going inside to find Stone looking out the window, he was angry the sisters let the Kratts escape, but controlled his anger.
"Your attempt was unsuccessful from what Carter told me." Stone stated.
"We chased them, we were right behind them and then they just…disappeared!"
"Disappeared? My dear Lainey, no one can just disappear!" Stone explained, hiding his anger at their ignorance, maybe he misjudged them. "It isn't possible!"
"Maybe they didn't disappear, but we did lose them." Emily added.
"Yes, that is a problem. Go get changed, while I figure out our next move."
"Alright." Emily said a little uneasy of the way Stone was acting.
After showering and changing both sisters sat outside watching the sunset. As she watched Emily draw; her favourite thing to do, Lainey thought of their run-in with the Kratt brothers. Both brothers seemed…nice, not at all like the cruel, evil villains Stone and Carter made them out to be. In fact the younger brother Chris reminded her of herself, and the older brother Martin reminded her of Emily! She smiled as she thought of the brothers…actually she began to think of Chris! He was cute, with his brown hair and eyes, his smile, his…what was she thinking? Chris Kratt was the enemy, and you don't think the enemy is cute! She had to forget him, she had a job to do and being attracted to him was only a distraction! She refused to let him get into her head, if Chris Kratt wanted to play mind games, then bring it on!
Meanwhile Emily looked up from her sketchbook to see Lainey sitting in a tree, like she usually did. Emily smiled and returned to her drawing, she was surprised to find that without realizing it she had drawn…Martin! She went to scratch the picture out, but stopped as she starred at it thinking back to the confrontation earlier with the brothers. Neither brother seemed as evil as Stone and Carter made them out to be, in fact they both were nice…a little odd, but nice! She found the older brother Martin cute, with his blond hair and blue eyes, he was even cuter when he smiled! She could feel herself blush, and quickly shook her head, she couldn't think that way about them; they were the enemy, villains! What was wrong with her? The Kratt brothers needed to be stopped and she promised no matter what it took they would be!
