Emma walked into work quickly, cursing herself for always being so damn late all the time. She was never like this in highschool! She yelped when she almost bumped into someone in the entrance, and then really yelped when she looked up.
Snake. Caught. He coughed awkwardly and got out of her way and Emma tilted her head. Wait a minute...was Snake, her boss, afraid of little ol her?
She laughed a little when he walked away but then called back, "Oh Emma?"
Emma stopped in her tracks and bared an uneasy smile when she turned. They didn't exactly leave things off very well the other week. "yea?" she asked.
"Can you meet me after work, in my office?"
Emma froze but forced a nod, "sure." she tightly smiled again and turned for her eyes to widen and walk off. Oh crap. Was she in trouble?
Emma got into her baby pink scrubs, her hair in a curly pony tail and her bangs left hanging out. She walked to Ellies desk to see her not there but Jesse was.
"Where's Ellie?" Emma asked, looking around. She usually told her what her duties were today.
"I can't keep track of her and she's my own wife." Jesse joked and rolled his eyes to shrug at Emma, "I have no idea Nurse Angel."
Emma rolled her eyes to the nickname and went walking off.
"Em!" she heard and saw Manny in the cafeteria. She looked around and went in.
"what are you doing? We're late!" Emma hissed.
Manny shook her head and bit into her salad, "No," she said, mouth full, "The hospital is like a ghost town today. Not busy. Isn't that crazy?"
"Crazy? More like horrible." Jt said, coming to sit with them and they all sat.
Emma was confused too. Hospital not busy? Odd.
"Guys," saddened Manny, looking around their table, "I miss Liberty. She hasn't been around in forever and I don't understand why."
Emma looked down, and wondered if Liberty would be mad if she told them about her brother.
JT scoffed, "You're telling me. And any chance I do get with her? She blows me off!" he pushed his food tray away, not even hungry anymore.
Manny began to sigh romantically, "JT you like her!"
"Shut up, Manny."
"You do!?" exclaimed Emma, laughing with Manny and they both looked so shocked at Jts confession. Well, it was more of a guilty face that said everything for him.
"Stop it okay?" he hissed, "I don't want our friendship ruined and so far, she already hates me."
"JT." Manny sadly admitted, "You had your chance."
He stared in shock now. "What?.."
"Liberty liked you, Jt." Emma explained.
His mouth hung and his eyes swirled in sadness and anger. "Why didn't you bevis-heads tell me!?"
"Cause you so blind and annoying about Paige Michealchuck."
"Paige is stupid." muttered Jt, shocking Emma and Manny again. Wow! He must REALLY like Liberty. They both shared a smile and Jt spoke up again, "So you said liked? As in past tense?"
Emma shrugged, "We haven't really spoken about it in a while..but who waits around for some guy like that for that long?"
He looked down. That made him wonder how long he was going to moop around and wait for Liberty. He really did care about her, want her, even take her on dates. She'd never go for it though. God he blew it!
Emma changed the subject, "So why'd the hospital ghost town today?"
"The hospital on the West end has gotten a new Doctor," JT said, "Some guy from LA. They'll been taking all the patients. Snakes pretty mad."
Emmas eyes widened, "He asked me to meet him in his office after my shift."
Both JT and Mannys eyes widened too.
Emmas mouth fell and she glared at them, "Way to make me feel better guys!" she hissed and then cringed. God she hoped it wasn't bad...

Jay met up with Snake on his break like he had also asked him to. Jay had been working all night, and was moody but Snake said this private little meeting was important.
"You paged." Jay said with a bored sigh, closing Snakes door behind him.
Snake looked up from reading something, and he stared at Jay for a second before nodding and leaned back in his office chair.
Jay coughed slightly and sat down across his desk, "So.." he drifts.
Snake leaned over and laid a piece of paper in front of Jay. Jay gave him a look but took it and looked down, reading it.
'RULES AND AGREEMENTS'
Jay sighed. He didn't have time for this. "What is this?" he asked, wanting to get right to the point. He's been working here for years now, he didn't need to go through rule notes like interns did their first day.
"No dating your employees." read Snake, pointing at number 52.
Jay rolled his eyes and clenched his jaw. This was what he wanted to talk about? "I'm tired." he confirmed and got up.
"No dating employees." Snake said louder and more sternly. He was worried about Emma, badly.
Jay turned and his eyes darkened, "Are you gonna ground me, sir?" he taunted.
Snake merely glared. Jay then paused and snickered, looking down and shaking his head while chuckling. Snake gave him an odd look.
"What's so funny about this, Jay? This is serious." Snake confirmed.
"Is it?" Jay snapped. His eyes held fury, knowing what Snake was trying to do.
It even shocked Snake that Jay spoke to him like that. His chief.
Jay went on, "Funny how you along with many other people in this hospital know my old reputation," he squinted his eyes, "yet I never heard one complaint then, but now.. now that I'm with Emma Nelson, our very own chief needs to talk to me?"
Snake cleaned his jaw and looked down.
"Yea." snapped Jay and he stormed to the door but then stopped and turned, "I'm not ending what I have with her. No matter how hard you try."
Both men glared hard at another, neither budging til Snake shut his eyes and exhaled. "You think you're the first people in this kind of world, this work place, that haven't tried to fall in love?" Snake sadly shookhis head, "It doesn't work. I'm telling you for your own good. It gets messy, stressful, hard."
Jay looked away while clenching his jaw. He had to count to 10 before he could reply. "That's the way love always is, Chief. If you knew that before, maybe it would of worked out with you and Emma's mother."
Snakes jaw dropped, watching Jay go out and slam the door behind him. Snake looked slapped across the face and he tried to blink but stared wide eyed. Meanwhile, Jay just grinned and left the building. Him and Emma weren't 'trying' to fall in love, they already fell.

Craig was doing surgery when Manny ran in, putting on her white surgery mask and he had other interns around him, helping him with the procedure.
"You're late, Santos." Craig said calmly, concentrating on his patient and holding a scalpel
Manny glanced down and up at him, pausing. "Sorry." she said and eyed him before down at the procedure.
"Sorrys not good enough.." Craig drifted on, "If you wanna become a good doctor," he glanced around at his interns, "you have to know time is everything." he locked eyes with Manny
Manny gave him a sort of offended look, wondering why he was being so rude. Maybe she wouldn't of been so late if he didn't stay the night. Then again, he had to wake up earlier than her and he made it to work just fine.
Craig just ignored her and got back to work. Manny scowled.
((((***)))
"I'm not talking to him today." Manny snapped, standing with Emma now, telling her what had happened.
Emma sipped her coffee while leaning on the building of the hospital and shrugged her shoulders, "So you guys are having a bad day. It happens."
"He was rude to me, infront of everyone." Manny looked truly hurt, "He could of just left it at 'you're late' with that glare of his.. but then he had to give me a lesson in front of all the other little interns"
Emma raised an eyebrow and reminded, "You're one of those interns too. He can't favor you in the operating room Manny."
Manny shook her head, not letting Craig get away with an excuse like that. She was really hurt, a bit embarrassed, and someone she was falling for SHOULDN'T make her feel that way.
Craig had come out, putting on his leather jacket and looked around, probably for Manny. Manny looked and saw him too and Emma awkwardly shifted.
"I'm..gonna go." Emma said, about to go inside.
"No, don't worry, I'm going." Manny bittered and shot Craig a glare before she stormed off.
"Manny." he protested, trying to grab her and she yanked her hand back, leaving him alone and standing alone but hurt as well.
Craig remembered Emma standing there and he turned his head to look at her. Emma gave him an uncomfortable smile and leaned off the wall, going inside too after Manny. Craig shut his eyes and scoffed but cursed at himself. This thing, him and Manny, it was getting complicated. He wanted to favor her out of all the other interns, but he knew it was wrong. She had to stop getting so mad at him for things like this.

Ellie had finally come to work, and was walking to her desk as someone grabbed her arm, "We need a girls night." Manny growled. Ellie gave her a look and Emma ran to her other side.
"Did you hear what she just asked me?" Ellie asked Emma.
Manny ignored that, "Ellie, me and Emma are going to a club tonight to dance, and get drunk. Are you in or not?"
Ellie went to say no, but someone cut her off. "Ellie doesn't dance. She's a horrible dancer." said Jesse with a smirk. He was sitting at HER own desk. She fumed.
Ellie clenched her teeth and turned back to Manny. "Of course I'll go out with you..." Ellie swallowed hard, and she put her hands up, "Yayyyyy.." she awkwardly cheered. Both Emma and Manny gave her wierd looks. Manny happily squealed though and left with Emma.
Ellie turned back to Jesse and rolled her eyes.
"leave me alone, Jesse." she begged.
He leaned forward, "So what did he have huh? Sean? Why can't you get over him and just try us again." he looked serious and even looked down before looking back up into her eyes, "We made vows."
Ellie looked down at him painfully, "I stopped taking those vows seriously as soon as you did." with that, she turned, tears burning her eyes and fled away. Jesse sat there and he blinked, realising his own tears working at the corner of his eyes. Had he really lost her? His wife? First love?
... "God, I'm such an idiot." he muttered to himself.
"You sure are." Jay taunted, coming over and just joking (He didn't even know what Jesse was talking about). He stole the coffee Jesse had bought for Ellie but Jesse let him have it anyways.
Jesse rolled his eyes and turned to Jay, "Girls man.." he shook his head madly then curiously turned his chair towards Jay, "How do you make Emma so happy?"
Jay was writing things down on his chart as he slowly grinned to the fact someone thought he made Emma happy. He hoped so. He put the chart down then taunted Jesse, "Well, I don't cheat on her." he went to walk off.
"And how do you do that?" Jesse asks, standing.
Jay sighed and turned to Jesse, "What?"
Jesse looked around, noticing they had privacy. Today was so dead. Where was all the patients?
"We're the same, man. We're.." he tried to look for the word.
Jay rolled his eyes but forced a nod. He understood. They were 'players', least Jay was before Emma.
"So how do you do it?" Jesse asked, glancing at passing hot nurses and interns who giggled as well when they saw both Jesse and Jay, "How do you resist?"
Jay raised his eyebrows and opened his mouth to blink and then cross his arms, "You really wanna know?" he asked, Jesse nodded. Jay looked at him and explained, "You find the girl who makes you not want any other girl again. Not when you have her."
Jesse clenched his jaw and crossed his own arms, his face hardening. Jay gave him a look like he was sorry, cause this made them both know maybe Ellie wasn't that girl for Jesse.
"But I love her, Hogart...I do. I regret what I did with those girls."
Jay shrugged his shoulders, "But you did it man. Maybe you do love her...but are you in love with her?" with that, Jay nodded and took off to leave Jesse with that thought.
((**))
"You wanted to see me?" Emma looked rather worried as she closed Snakes door behind her. Snake sat there, a bit numbly and didn't even look up but knew she was there. Emma awkwardly shifted and cleared her throat.
Snake took a deep breath and leaned forward, looking at Emma, "Nothing. It was a mix up... I actually needed to talk to another intern."
Emma's mouth shaped an 'o' and then she nodded, "Alright." she smiled and turned, going back out the door. Snake stared off.
(**)
Later that night the girls had gone to the club, and had their girls night. . yet they were all frowning and just sat at the table. "Well!" Emma yelled over the music and awkwardly smiled, "More shots?"
Manny scowled and Ellie huffed. Liberty tried to share a smile with Emma but they both ended up frowning...this was a horrible girls night.
"We are trying this one more time tomorrow." growled Manny and pointed at Ellie, "and you will not bring your bad mood to ruin mine even more."
Ellie bit the end of her tounge. Liberty was the sober one that night, so drove everyone home, but Ellie asked to stop somewhere first...
"Who lives here?" Liberty asked, standing against her grey car as Ellie pounded on a door of a house and shot her a look.
"Don't make me regret bringing you." Ellie said. Ellie looked up at the house she stood in front of and then she sadly crossed her arms and went to Liberty with tears in her eyes.
Liberty eyed her, and then glanced to the house to frown, "This Sean's place?" she asked softly.
Ellie nodded and just shook her head, "Lets not talk about it."
It was her first time coming here, it took guts, and shots, so she would probably never be able to be this brave to do it again...so it sucked he wasn't here. Or maybe he was and ignoring her?
"Did you fall for him?" Liberty asked gently. Ellie opened her mouth and then shut it to glare at Liberty. It wasn't like THEY were close. She didn't have to tell anyone anything. She was sick of everyone actually! She wanted to be alone. Forever!
"Lets just go." she snapped and went back into Libertys car. Liberty scoffed but nodded (But snuck an eyeroll behind Ellie's back) and went into the car. Damn nurses.
Could you look me in the eye
And tell me that you're happy now, ohhh, ohhh
Would you tell it to my face or have I been erased,
Are you happy now?
Are you happy now?

(((((((((((((((***************))))))))))))))))))
"Round two!" even Ellie yelled, trying to be in a good mood for this. The club was more crowded tonight, and she actually dressed up. The world sucked and she was completely understanding of that now.
"Ellie, maybe you should lay off the tequila" whispered Manny as if a joke and took her shot from Ellie.
Emma giggled sitting beside Jay who sipped his beer. This was gonna be a loooong night. Again. She at least looked good, like really good. She wore a short strapless and skin tight dark purple dress and black heels with her hair slightly curled. Jay couldn't take his eyes off her all night. She tapped her manicured nails on her martini as he sipped his beer again.
"What are you laughing at traitor?" Ellie asked Emma
"traitor?!" Emma repeated shocked. Why? What'd she do!?
"A girls night and you bring the enemy." Ellie says, raising her brow at Jay.
Jay chuckled as Emma blushed. Oh. "I didn't know we were enemies now." taunted Jay to Ellie.
Ellie drunkenly leaned forward, "Well we are now!" she yelled over the music. Emma rolled her eyes smiling until Ellie sounded serious. "You are always on Jesse's side!" Ellie yelled at Jay madly.
Yeah him and Jesse were friends in highschool but since Jesse went to Boston, it was her and Jay ! Not Jay and Jesse..now suddenly it was again as soon as the ex husband comes back? Ellie thought they were, I don't know, friends now. So what kind of friendship is that?
Jay clenched his jaw and went to open his mouth- "Nevermind." Ellie suddenly snapped and grabbed Manny's hand, "Lets go dance."
"Woohoo!" Manny cheered and went with.
Emma blinked and watched them go, then turned her head towards Jay whose jaw was still dropped. Emma gave him a small weak smile yet, Jay still felt kinda...geez, what was this, guilt? Since when did he care about other peoples drama or feelings...He looked at Emma. Her. All her fault!
Manny and Ellie were dancing between guys, with another, laughing and drunkenly getting dizzy but loving it, jumping with the music. Manny had Ellie's hand to guide her out of the dance floor to go get another drink, but on their way and in middle of laughter they stopped abruptly when they bumped into a couple. That couple turned and Sean was the guy, holding some blonde.
Ellie's mouth fell, and Manny stared wide eyed as they came face to face with him. The girl was giggling but Sean stopped, but he didn't take his arm off the girl as he glared harshly at Ellie.
Manny glanced between them and cleared her throat, "Hey Sean!" she glanced at the blonde beside her, "Sean's..." she awkwardly clapped her hands and nodded, "Seans..girl...person"
The blonde looked between both Sean and this redhead he couldn't stop staring at til he blinked and coughed, grabbing the blonde to him more and just nodded before sipping the beer in his other hand like he didn't care to really talk. Ellie blinked and snapped out of it. She grabbed Manny's wrist and walked (stormed) around him.
Emma and Jay had seen the scene and Emma cringed, "Ellie's probably devastated." she said. Jay huffed, leaning back in his seat.
A second later Manny came back to the table with more shots, "Well, she's not happy." they all turned to see Sean still standing where he was, but the blonde slightly dancing against him but also macking on his throat.
"Geez." Emma said while rolling her eyes. The girl was all over Sean. Sean kept glancing out the door though and Emma tilted her head. He was glancing at the door Ellie went out of.. he had to still care. Emma swore she saw something great between these two.
"Who makes out in the middle of a club? The most desperate people I tell ya." joked Manny.
Jay leaned over and whispered in Emma's ear, "be right back." he left.
Emma watched Sean going to the back of the club, probably for the bathrooms. She got up quickly too and Manny blinked . . since when did everybody go?!
(((**)))
Jay had stepped outside, and he saw Ellie, standing by the curb near the street and looking like she wanted to go. He looked around until taking a step forward. "Nash!"
Ellie didn't turn, just watched the cars and cabs passing but with tears in her eyes, standing under a street light.
Jay stopped behind her and he scratched the back of his head but cleared his throat and in a small voice, he finally spoke, "I'm sorry."
Ellie snickered bitterly, and just stood there. Finally she turned and said, "I thought we were friends?"
Jay's mouth dropped and he struggled but nodded, "We are."
Ellie rid a tear from the back of her hand and shook her head, "No, we're not." she laughed looking up at the night sky, "I understand you and Jesse were alike and closer in highschool but I thought you changed? And even more now since with Emma. But you're not. I thought maybe, maybe you'd stick up to him for me!"
Jay was speechless, looking around and not a fan of Ellie yelling at him. He did. He did tell Jesse to back off.. to stop going after her even, though he did know Jesse still loved Ellie in his own way. With that though, she turned and left. Jay sucked in a breath and dug his hands into his pocket, feeling like a horrible friend for not being 'friends'.
((**))
At the back of the club you couldn't hear the music too much anymore. Emma squished through some people, looking around for Sean. Finally he exited the guys washroom with a deep exhale and itching his head. "Sean!"
He turned, wondering who was calling him and then he caught Emma's eyes and he was a bit taken back and then sighed. He looked down, and back out the club until slowly going over to her and gave a weak smile, "Hey."
"Hi. You um, you move on fast."
Sean opened his mouth, til he noticed he was going to yell and he scoffed. He crossed his arms and then furrowed his eyebrows together before he shut his eyes and muttered lowly, "Not much choice."
She seemed to snap right back, "Not true."
Sean's mouth dropped, "I-..." he paused and blinked, "I can't believe you're talking to me about this."
"Ellie didn't ask Jesse to come back into her life!" Emma exclaimed, trying to make him see there could still be a chance between them.
"Doesn't matter anymore." Sean bitterly said, shaking his head angrily and then softened, "It's done. Whatever we had is done."
"Are you trying to tell me you've never lied to a girl, Sean Cameron?" Emma asked, raising an eyebrow and knew he seemed to be a little heart breaker before and after Ellie. Sean didn't say anything. He sadly smiled though.
"Thought so." nodded Emma and shrugged her shoulders, "Ellie never lies. She just never tells. She's...emotional, she just tries to hide the fact she is. She's sensitive" she eyed him, "Kinda like you."
He looked at her questionably. Emma nodded out back in the club, "The blonde?" she smirked, "Nice try. I'm guessing theres never second dates.."
Sean looked at her stunned that she knew. He shut his eyes and confessed, "Ellie's the first girl whose ever gave me shit for trying to hit on her. She opened my eyes. And now that it's over.. I can't shut them and not see her."
"I thought I could be somebodys 'one and only'.. it was more shocking to me that I found my one. Turns out, she already had her one." Sean muttered.
"She won't even LOOK at Jesse, at all. Sean, I swear, I'm telling you..she's not going back to him. She's.." she drifted off, not knowing if she had the right to say this but Sean needed to know. Sean seemed even more difficult than Jay when it came to love, Jay could be scared too but Sean, Sean could get stubborn and hurt too fast.
"She fell for you. " Emma gave him a weak smile when he stared wide eyed at her. She then turned, and left. Sean felt his heart pounding . She did?
Meanwhile, Ellie had gotten home when she saw something at her apartment doorstep, a figure. Dammit. It was Jesse. Ellie sighed, "Jesse.." she was exhausted, didn't have time for this.
"Relax." Jesse said and stood up. He stood infront of her, looking down at her so sincerely. Ellie swallowed hard and wondered what was up. He took a deep breath and looked away, "I'm here to let you go." he looked back at her, "I loved you since I met you, Ellie Nash. ANd because I love you, I'm letting you go." He nodded to her stunned look. This...this was so 'nice' of him. "You need someone better than me. Someone who would make you really happy and I don't do that for you.. I hurt the person I care about the most." he whispered sadly.
Ellie choked up, and bit her lip. She nodded though, appreciating the sacrifice. She sucked in a shakey breath, watching him slowly slide off his wedding ring.
He stared down at it and nodded, "I'm a single man. Again." he joked and she laughed but sniffed. This was emotional...she cared about him, she did, but she couldn't love him anymore. He nodded at her and gave her the ring, to turn and slowly walk away. He took a big deep breath and almost turned the corner til Ellie spoke up.
"W-what made you change your mind?" she asked him
Jesse snickered, "Jay actually." he admitted, nodding to the fact his friend opened his eyes.
Ellie's mouth fell, and watched him go. Jay did it. They WERE friends, and she just yelled at him and made him feel horrible when he DID stick up for her..and it wasn't easy getting Jay Hogart to be your friend or to care. Ellie felt horrible. When she got inside her place, she held Jesses ring in her hand and passed the trash can. She let go of the ring and it fell into it. Time to start a new beginning
Oh, there isn't one thing left you could say
I'm sorry it's too late
(Let go-Avril)
I'm breaking free from these memories
Gotta let it go, just let it go
I've said goodbye
Set it all on fire
Gotta let it go, just let it go
