~Yukio's POV~
I woke up feeling refreshed the next morning. Not only because I had slept well, but because I knew I had finished my work the prior night, so I had the weekend to relax. I sat up in bed and put my glasses on, putting my feet on the floor before looking up at my nii-san's bed, seeing that he was gone and Kuro wasn't there.
"Kuro probably slept somewhere else, then." I mumbled to myself, going downstairs to find that Rin was not that either, finding the note and the breakfast he had left for me. I sighed inwardly, adjusting my glasses, beginning to heat them up.
"So.. 3 minutes." I nodded to myself as I set the timer, waiting for it to finish. As it cooked, I saw Ukobach wander into the kitchen. He greeted me with his usual nod, prepping the kitchen for himself. Kuro wandered in not too long after, yawning.
Did Rin come home last night? He meowed excitedly, looking up at me with dazzling, excited eyes.
"He did, around midnight, but he left again this morning. I think he'll be home on time for dinner today, though."
Oh... Okay, Yukio… He sighed, clearly looking sad.
"Is something wrong, Kuro?" The sad look on his face disturbed me to no end.
Well, Rin-sama promised he would play with me, so when he didn't come home in time for dinner yesterday, I was worried, and now he's gone again. Kuro mumbled, shuffling his paws.
My eyes widened slightly, but I just nodded in slight agreement. " I think he just wants to be alone for a little while. You know sometimes you get really worked up and you just don't have the patience to talk to anyone without getting mad or just sputtering out a bunch of things the other person doesn't understand and you just feel like you're going to explode. He's probably just a little worked up or stressed is all and is just relieving it in his own way."
Kuro looked up at me, seemingly satisfied with my answer. Then I will wait for Rin-sama to come home whenever he is ready and then I will play with him! He said, determined, his eyes cheerful.
I smiled in return to this, as this also seemed like a reasonable answer to myself, and some of the tension on my own shoulders released. I quickly ate the breakfast Rin prepared for me [Which was tasty as usual] and headed off to the bathroom, quickly getting ready for the day. Since Rin wasn't home, I decided to do some shopping. He kept forgetting to get my mineral water, so I'll just go stock up on it now while I have some free time so I don't have to keep asking him to get it whenever he goes shopping on his own. Yes, that seemed like a good idea. I suppose I won't need my exorcist coat today, then – but I'll be keeping my weapons and badge on hand, obviously, just in a backpack. I quickly dressed into a casual attire [that was not the school uniform] and put my pistols and my badge into my backpack. I didn't feel comfortable about not being able to just easily grab my pistols, but who walks around in a giant black coat in the last few days of spring? The temperature is already rising, it'd just be plain weird to see someone in a giant black coat on a relatively warm day, a little above lukewarm, but not quite hot. I made sure to pack the keys in with the rest of my stuff and used one of my keys to end of up in an alleyway in the shopping district. I walked around a little bit, getting a few items, thinking that I should head up to the Exorcist Shop after this. It was slowly nearing lunchtime, and the crowd grew thinner and thinner, until lunchtime finally came, and only a few tens of people would pass me by, compared to the normally completely crowded streets, and they went into their houses or other buildings. Apparently, since it was the weekend and the summer was nearing, people wanted to stay inside as it got hot out.
And it did get hot out, the temperature having risen over 10 degrees, now about 100 Fahrenheit at the moment. I wiped some sweat off my brow, when I heard something.
It was the sound of a violin playing.
No one else seemed to be able to hear it. Oh, right. I have more sensitive senses now, since I Awakened...
I shouldn't be alarmed, since I was in a shopping district and it could be anyone, but I also should be alarmed it was a demon of some sort.
I could also tell the noise was coming from above me, and from behind me. I turned around and rushed the other way, looking around for the source of the music.
The violin stopped playing for a moment, a dreadful silence followed, as I looked around, wondering what could have happened, when the violin began playing again. This time, it was more of a slow, gentle song. It wasn't droopy, like one of those depressing keys in E Minor or something, but it also wasn't upbeat like something in G Major. It was just kind of in between, as if the player was expressing being torn between two things. It didn't sound like any song he had heard before, which either meant he had just never heard of the song before or it must've been written by the player.
I continued running, looking for the source of the sound, wondering who would just play the violin in the middle of the day... Maybe to get tips. Why am I so worried? It's probably just some pedestrian..
But what if it was a demon?
Either way, I wasn't sure what I was up against, and that caught a bit of uneasiness to form in the pit of my stomach as I continued chasing the source, until I finally spotted it.
A figure that looked human, but he couldn't really make out any features against the brightly shining sun and how far away the figure was, and the fact that its back was turned.
The most he could come up with was that it was male, but it was definitely the male playing, as I could, barely, make out something that looked like a violin against his collarbone and his other hand was most definitely holding something that looked like a stick, although I couldn't see a string. The song ended quickly after I noticed the figure, and its head seemed to move, before running off.
I took off after the figure, attempting to wrestle my pistols from my backpack, but I had lost the figure, and it was simply gone. I sighed in defeat, putting away the pistols and going into the bathroom of one of the stores and using the inside of the door [after making sure no one else was in there] to go the Exorcist Shop, leaving just after a few minutes and going back into the dorm, to find Rin sleeping. He had passed out on the couch in the living room, so it seemed. He was dirty all over and seemed to still have his backpack on and his Kurikara with him. I sighed, trying not to laugh, as I covered him in a blanket, leaving to stock everything I had gotten on my little 'shopping trip'.
