Mikey wasn't sure when he split up from his brothers, but he didn't let that slow him down. Seeing that boy in the bag - a mere child - shook him to the core. He had to save any other kids that were here or die trying. He felt near uncontrollable rage and despair as he wandered the halls. Around him blood was smeared across the walls and floors, some discarded body parts strewn in the hall were left behind in the haste.

The first enemy in black he saw, he threw out a window. His body hit the ground with a sick snap. Mikey never knew he was capable of seriously hurting others, but found himself unconcerned. A second man came from inside a room, dragging a full bag behind him. Mikey grabbed him by the throat. He started smashing him against the wall until he let go of the bag. Mikey three him down the hall, letting out a painful cry of anger.

He panted, turning to the room the man had left. Inside was a young woman, both her legs cut off and one of her arms missing. She was laying on her side in a pool of her own blood, which soaked into her patient scrubs and her hair. Mikey gently picked her body up, moving her to a cleaner spot in the room. He laid her down, adjusting her remaining arm to lay across her chest. He brushed her hair from her face but recoiled when he realized he got her blood on his fingers. Then he saw it was all over him, staining the hoodie around his waist and almost dripping off his plastron.

He let out a shaky breath. He tried wiping it off but only managed to spread it around further. He let out a small whimper, starting to feel sick aga

in. Then he heard another whimper behind him. He turned, surprised to see a small boy in front of him.

The boy was pale and shaking, his large shirt covered in bile from where he got sick on himself. His eyes were unusually big, completely black, and dead. The boy stared at Mikey a little longer then looked past him to the woman. He wobbled over to her, passing the giant turtle with little care. He sat beside her.

"They hurt Sissy," he whispered so quietly Mikey could barely hear him.

Mikey felt like crying but knelt down, still towering over the small child. He hesitantly touched the long, shaggy black hair on his head, trying to comfort him. The boy immediately hopped up, latching onto Mikey in a tight little hug. The turtle let out a soft sob and picked him up, hugging him close and leaving the room.

"Don't worry, buddy," Mikey managed to say. "I'll protect you. I promise."

Raph and Leo stuck together and were furiously arguing even while in the midst of a fight. There were at least twenty of these guards and even if their fighting skills were subpar, they were extremely resilient.

"You're the one who lost him!"

"Raph, we did not lose him!"

"We are now a turtle down and these jackasses won't stop coming!" Raph yelled as he smashed his fist into one guard's face. "We shouldn't have just ran in here!"

Leo flung a guard towards Raph, partially hoping he would hit him in his stupid face.

"You and Mikey were the ones who charged in! Don't be blaming me for your brazen attempt to be a hero!"

"I was trying to catch Mikey, he kicked down the door!"

Leo snarled and roundhouse kicked four men out of his way. He ran to Raph, slicing through the crowd but in control enough to not kill a single person.

"We're not doing any good arguing," he snapped. "Let's just stop these guys before-"

There was a high-pitched scream and Leo suddenly found himself dizzy, out of breath, and on the floor. He gripped his chest, trying to regain what breath was knocked out. He looked for Raph but didn't find him. Then his brother landed right on top of him. Leo yelped and shoved Raph off.

"Raph? Raph!" He choked out, shaking him.

Raph was out cold. Leo gritted his teeth and stumbled up, trying to see who attacked them. The guards that once surrounded them were running away. On the ceiling, a large, long shadow was rapidly gaining on them. As it began leaping down, Leo watched what looked like a giant snake grab hold of several men at once, crushing them in its tail and biting one of the men's heads off. Leo realized the snake had arms when it took the head out of its mouth and hurled it at the wall.

The snake dropped the dead guards and went after the rest of the living ones. Leo regained his composure and knelt down to Raph, working on getting him awake.

Donnie broke a window and helped Marian inside. He slipped in, pulling out his Bo staff and pulling his tech headgear down over his eyes.

"I'm not reading anything so far, but I can hear the fighting," he said quietly. "I think we'll need to-"

He turned to Marian to find her strutting out the door. He gaped in shock, rushing after her and pushing his headgear back up.

"Marian! What are you doing?!"

He made it to the hall. She was no where in sight. He let out a frustrated growl and headed towards the left. He heard screaming and crying from somewhere down the hall and decided to follow. The hall met with one going perpendicular. Donnie saw a large group of people in a mix of surgical gowns and scrubs in various states of illness and transformation trying to escape. They were being mowed down by five men with guns, who moved forward at a slow pace and checked the bodies to see who was left alive.

Donnie was stunned when a young girl with butterfly wings was hit while trying to go out the window. He watched her choke, slumping against the window pane. As the guards passed her, one casually pushed her. She plummeted out the window and to the ground. Something snapped inside him.

He charged forward and bowled over the small human guards. As he got up, he saw some of the mutants looking back at him in awe. Donnie snapped at them to run and turned back to the men. He twirled his bo, spinning around and striking one man in the face before reeling it back to hit another behind him. He kicked the man behind him down and elbowed the other. The few remaining men managed to get up and shoot at him, but he turned, letting the bullets ricochet off his shell and kill them.

He made his way towards the window where the girl was. He stuck his head out, looking in hope that she made it. Her fall from the third floor was not forgivable. Her pained face was staring at Donnie, half her head smashed in from the fall. He bit his lip and pulled away from the window, trying to keep hold of himself.

"Donnie?"

He turned to see Mikey, covered in blood and cradling a boy in his arms. Donnie sighed in relief and quickly hugged Mikey.

"It's terrible here, Don. They... They've been cutting them in pieces," Mikey said, shoulders shaking. "I saved this little guy, but-"

"You did good, Mikey," Donnie said, sniffling a little. "I'm just happy you're okay."

Donnie pulled away. He looked at the boy, who was hardly reacting to anything going around him.

"Have you seen Marian?" Donnie asked.

Mikey was quiet and looking away. His brother frowned and took hold of his shoulder.

"Mikey, is she okay?"

"I-I didn't see her. But I think I saw her handiwork."

He led Donnie to another corridor. Bodies lined the hall, blackened and smoking. Donnie stared in shock, but remembered the notes he read just hours before. She was violent, hostile, and most importantly, she hated humans. Do not trust her. He was finding the advice much easier to accept as truth.

"Mr. Turtle," the little boy whispered. "Did the eclectic lady do this?"

Mikey was confused at first but a lightbulb went off in his head.

"You mean electric lady?"

"Yeah."

"Buddy, how do you know the electric lady?"

"She talked with Sissy all the time," he said and started crying. "She said she'd protect us like a knight from the books. She lied, Mr. Turtle, she lied."

Mikey looked up to Donnie. His brother had a look of realization on his face. His face and neck started to turn a darker shade of green as his expression changed to one of fury. He clenched his fists, his entire body shaking.

"Don-"

"She better not have done what I think she did," Donnie muttered, storming ahead.

Mikey shushed the child and followed his brother. They walked along the trail of destruction, which was littered with broken bulbs resulting in darkness and corpses. The boy burrowed into Mikey's arms. Sounds from further ahead echoed screaming and sounds of electricity crackling. The two turtles looked to each other and nodded, rushing ahead.

They were greeted by their brothers in defensive mode, dodging strikes of electricity. Before them were Marian and a thing that was primarily snake with the top form of a woman. The snake was trying to strike at Marian, easily attacking from unusual angles and catching her off guard. Marian was shrieking, throwing bolts of electricity like a madwoman trying to hit her.

"Mikey, you might want to take that kid elsewhere," Donnie shouted at him, joining Leo and Raph in their attempts to break up the fight.

The fight continued as the fighters became more and more brutal. The snake woman got several slashes in, ripping through the leather jacket Marian had on and slicing through her skin. The human woman screamed and caused the lights to shatter above them, shootings shocks through the snake. Donnie gritted his teeth and was about to attack when he got an idea.

Marian was about to go in for the kill when the bo struck her across the face. Hitting her left cheek, it knocked out a tooth that hit the ground just before she did. She moaned in pain, touching her swelling face. Marian looked up at Donnie. Her eyes watered and she began crying.

"…What did you do that for?"

He turned to see the snake woman slide over to him. She was panting, clutching her side. Donnie hesitated then shrugged.

"It got you to stop fighting, didn't it?"

"So you hit me?!" Marian screamed at him, getting up.

Donnie tried to say something but was beaten to the punch.

"Why not, you're the psycho!" Snake screamed back. "This is all your fault! No one would be dead if you had done the responsible thing and stayed in your shitty cage and just died, you freak!"

"Says the snake," Raph mumbled.

The snake lunged for Marian, forcing Donnie to get between them. Marian attacked from behind him, trying to get past him to go for the mutant. As they fought, the boy in Mikey's arms squirmed. Mikey set him down and he went running towards the fight before he could blink. Mikey chased after him but slowed as a large bubble began forming around him.

"Watch out! Bubble Boy's coming!" He shouted and resumed his chase.

Donnie quickly jumped out of the way, leaving the two women to get bowled over by the surprisingly hard bubble. It popped, the boy landing just next to Marian. He held up his hands and pushed her into the next hallway and blocked her off. She stumbled up, sending a look of betrayal Donnie's way and quickly limping out of sight.

"…what the fuck?" Raph said.

Leo slowly nodded. "Agreed… what the fuck?"
