Chapter 2
Ever since that night, Jasper has not been a fan of being around people, so he and Octavia had decided to move to the country a few miles out of town where Jasper isn't so jittery. This is the first party they have attempted to throw in the time since they moved there. Sure they see friends from time to time but never more than 1 or 2 at a time. Monty comes by almost every day. They talk a lot about what crops the land will be able to sustain and they also fashioned a still out behind the barn, which will come in handy tonight. Some habits never die.
Bellamy comes over daily. Though he owns the only garage in town and lives in the apartment above, he is there to help with the upkeep and the crops since Jasper's arm never quite healed correctly. He doesn't do it because he feels sorry for Jasper, it's a reason to get to see his sister and have a free uncomplicated meal. There is a however diner a half a block from his garage, but that is owned by Clarke Griffin, the girl that got away.
Bellamy used to go to Clarke's diner every morning for breakfast and to grab coffees for his mechanics Miller and Finn, and then again most nights for dinner and both being business owners they always found something to talk about. He looked forward to these times as it was usually the highlights of his day. She always wore her golden hair up in a loose bun with tendrils framing her face. To him, she looked like a princess. Just to be able to see her smile when he walked in, hear her voice when she greeted him and occasionally witness her laughter shook him to the core. She was beautiful and smart and he wanted to make her his.
Clarke was from the city. She moved to this small town after her mother and father had died in an accident on the highway during a snowstorm. She was attending the Culinary Institute at that time planning on one day opening her own 5 star restaurant and found it too much to stay after losing the both of them. When she received her inheritance, a small fortune, she thought she would be happier to just move away to a small town and buying herself a little diner sounded like the perfect way to get away from all the painful memories of the life she once had.
The town was quite friendly it wasn't long before she had established a clientele, but there was one customer in particular a tall olive skinned man with a smattering of freckles and slightly uncontrollable black hair. She could set her watch by him twice a day, and quite often she would find herself watching the clock for him to come walking through her door because no matter what kind of day she was having, he would greet her with the most amazing smile when he arrived making anything else seem so trivial.
Everyday their conversations became more comfortable they would range anywhere from the work at the garage, to his sister Octavia, to helping out on the farm. From time to time when she wasn't busy, she found herself sitting with him talking when he was eating his meal. There was even a time or two that she couldn't help herself just wanting to do something nice for him; she would whip up something fancy (even if it took her all day) and asking if he'd mind being her guinea pig. He never complained and always seemed to really enjoy it.
After about 2 months, and getting a bit impatient, Clarke decided that if he wasn't going to ask her out, even though it seemed like he was interested in her, she would have to take it into her own hands.
I see that Spartacus is playing at the theater this week. I was wondering if you might like to join me Monday night.
Bellamy blushed, feeling as though he had dragged his feet a little too long and that he should have been the one to ask her out. It's not that he hadn't wanted to he just, well, he really liked her and he was afraid to mess things up.
Clarke stood there for a moment as he said nothing. She then slowly dropped her head.
Sorry, that was forward of me.
As she turned to move away she felt his hand gently grasp her elbow.
Speaking softly as the warmth spread throughout both of them, she turned and their eyes met.
I'd love to. He said with a little smirk.
