November 14th, 1978. 2:30 AM.
The diner was quite a bit messier than it usually was after closing time. The white tables, which were usually spotless, still had some crumbs and spilled soda on it. The light hardwood floors hadn't been properly swept. Trashcans remained un-emptied. There were a few dishes left in the sink of the small kitchen. Of course, after the tragedy that befell the diner, this could be expected. The employees of Fredbear's wanted to get the hell out of the diner as quickly as possible and, at that time of night, the place was completely empty.
Except for one lone spirit.
Katie wandered around the diner, still sobbing. She still hadn't quite comprehended what happened. All she knew was that she was cold, and she didn't feel right, and she wasn't supposed to be here.
"Mommy... Mommy, where are you?"
She stopped in front of the stage, where the two animatronics were standing. Just hours ago, Fred and Rita filled her with so much joy and happiness, but now, in the darkness, she was afraid of them. She let out a scream and went sprinting down a hallway before finding herself in the office, where she huddled in a corner, crying out for anyone who could possibly hear her to take her back to her Mother.
She began to glance around the dark room, and her eyes fell upon two things.
First was a small, black puppet with a white face. Katie smiled. An old man who she thinks owned the place had that puppet earlier. Yeah, he did a puppet show for the kids and he gave Katie a coupon for a free small soda. She let out a giggle at this happy little memory and continued looking around, where she saw the second thing.
A purple Fredbear's Family Diner shirt.
The events that happened earlier that day played through her mind once again. The boy pushing her out of the way, the man in purple outside, the excitement of being able to play Space Invaders, the sudden shift in the man's attitude, the feelings of hopelessness and desperation as she had the life choked out of her.
"Am I... dead?"
Katie began to panic. She couldn't be dead! She had a big test on Tuesday that she studied for and she was going to be eight years old in four and a half months and she wanted to play with her dollies and watch American Bandstand with her mom and... and...
"It's not... it's not... IT'S NOT FAIR!"
She screamed as loud as she could causing objects to shake and rumble around her. The terror and panic she felt moments ago were replaced by a seething anger. She CAN'T be dead, it's not FAIR! IT'S NOT FAIR!
She continued to scream for a while until her eyes fell back on the shirt. She took a closer look at it and saw the word "Staff" on it.
"It's their fault... IT'S ALL THEIR FAULT!"
She picked up the shirt and threw it, letting out an angry shriek before collapsing and sobbing all over again. She wailed and wept until her throat would have hurt had she still had life, and when it had simmered down into a whimper, she looked back up to see where the shirt landed- on top of the puppet. Feeling scared and alone again, she crawled over to the puppet and laid on top of it, holding it tightly...

Two hours later, she awoke, but something was... different. Katie couldn't move around like she was able to just a few hours ago. Her eyes dotted around until she realized... she wasn't in her body anymore. Well, she wasn't in her spirit body anymore. It took her a while to figure out, but she was... the puppet. She now inhabited the puppet. Startled, she tried to flail around, tried to move in any way, but to no avail.
Katie then had a flashback to a math test she once took where she got agitated at a problem... what was it her teacher said? "Remember, if you're feeling distressed, take five deep breaths and try again"
She inhaled (Well, she at least did the act of inhaling), held it, and exhaled five times and tried to move again. Her attempts were unsuccessful, but she put all of her focus to it until finally... the puppet's leg kicked.
