Dallas's POV

I went to the Socs territory, ready to smash the any rich kid's head. I decided it wasn't such a good idea when I heard the police sirens. I felt the familiar metal being placed on my hands and I was shoved into a car, along with no other than Curly Sheppard. Dumb kid needs to learn how to not get caught.

This was not going to be good. I needed bail bad.

"Darry? I need a favor?" I started but Darry cut me off.

"Let me guess, you need bail. You attacked some Socs and you're out of money... Am I correct?" He lectured.

"Yeah spot on."

"Don't make me regret this Dallas. Johnny is bad, but if I bail you you have to stick around. Got it?" He asked.

"Yeah. Chrystal."

"Good. I'll be there in twenty minutes." He told me. I hung up the phone and say back down in my jail cell.

I waited almost half an hour before a cop called out,

"Bail for Dallas Winston." He uncuffed me and I was met with the angry face if Darrel Shayne Curtis.

"Truck Winston." I wanted to either laugh at Darry or crawl in a hole. I chose to sit in the truck with my head down. I learned that from Ponyboy.

"Johnny's berm asking for you. As far as I'm concerned you didn't beat up a Soc and you didn't get caught. Got it?" He growled. I nodded. I felt really guilty now.

"What's wrong with him? How is he?" I asked quietly.

"Physically, he'll live. Mentally, Dallas, I ain't too sure. They beat him within an inch of his life. That'll break anyone." I gulped. Feeling the unfamiliar feeling of tears prickling in my eyes. I thought of my dead brother, he was so much like Johnny. He was scared and small but smart like Ponyboy. He looked up to me so much but lacking in common sense is what killed him. He was walking alone and out rival gang shot him.

I was only ten years old. I beat up their leader so bad, but I was ten and not sneaky enough and was caught. I was thrown in jail for almost two months.

"Dallas!"

Darry's voice brought me out of my daydream.

"We are home."

"Oh," I stupidly mumbled, exciting the car. Darry clasped me on the back.

Johnny was asleep when I walked in. A blanket was over him but I knew that cut on his cheek would scar. It would be tough if it wasn't for that it was on Johnny.

I sat in Darry's chair and stayed watch over my little brother.

Ponyboy's POV

"Hey Darry, I got to go to the library tonight for school. I'll be back around six, six thirty, okay?" I asked him. He nodded and luckily didn't ask when the assignment was due.

I had pushed it off until the last minute. I was scared to walk to the library alone. No one in the gang could come with me, they were all busy.

I was reading my book while I was waking. Darry would tell me I would get run over, but the library was closing and I hadn't finished the book.

"Look! It's a nerdy greaser." I heard an obnoxious voice yell.

I turned and saw the blue mustang filled with five Socs.

I tried to run but they cut me off, almost running me over. Hey got out and surrounded me.

"Hey greasher." He slurred.

"Where going to beat you up, just like your little friend. Hoes that sound." The dark one sneered at me.

"No." I mumbled.

"What?" He sneered.

"No!" I screamed. The tall Soc got me on the ground and started beating on me.

"Someone's being an ungrateful little brat. Get him Bob." The dark haired Soc smiled sickly.

He punched me in the face and anywhere he could think of repeatedly.

"Darry! Soda!" I screamed. The blonde Soc kicked me in the head and ribs, twice each.

All heard before I fell unconscious was my name being screamed and the I felt all the Socs run. Then, everything went black.
