A/N: This one is particularly short because... I can't actually remember why. I swore this was a birthday gift but I'm starting to think it wasn't. Anyways, short Renora thing after Food Fight.
"Nora, I need you to hold still for maybe five more seconds."
Ren dipped the cloth in the water and placed it on the giddy ginger's cheek. He winced slightly, as he raised his arm a bit too high.
"Are you okay?!" exclaimed Nora, leaping up immediately and accidentally knocking his arm into an even more painful position.
"Yes, Nora," he said, practicing the deep breathing techniques he had learned to help him deal with pain in the past. "Now stay still, you still have some mess on your face."
"I just wanted to make sure you were alright," huffed Nora, as she sank back to her sitting position.
Ren's light touch traced the edge of his partner's plump nose which made her giggle. She immediately quieted down and stiffened her back. She couldn't see his face but she knew he was smiling. She was good at knowing that sort of stuff about Ren. Like that one time, when they were younger when there were all those rapier wasps and—
"Done," said Ren, leaning back into a sitting position, wiping his hands with the cloth before tossing it back in the bucket of water. Nora tackled him for a hug and felt him cringe again. She immediately let go and looked him in the eyes.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Ren opened his mouth but Nora shook her head. "And don't lie! I can tell when you are lying, Ren. I'm like a finder of deceits because we are so connected."
"I think the term you are looking for is lie detector."
"See? Perfectly in sync!" The triumphant grin quickly fell to concern. "Now are you sure you are okay?"
Ren nodded softly. "Yes, Nora. I just need to lie down for a little bit."
The silence fell over the room the two were laying down in for a few moments. But Nora still had some more questions. "Why were you holding back?"
"Hmm?"
"In the foodfight." Nora rolled over onto her stomach so she was looking up at her partner. "Normally you are all like super ninja Lie Ren, ultimate crime stopper extraordinaire!" Ren had to roll out of the way to avoid getting stomped as Nora leaped to her feet. "Killer of Grimm and champion of my heart!"
"It was just a foodfight, Nora. Besides, I didn't want anyone to get… hurt." Ren rubbed his sore shoulder a bit.
"Just a foodfight?! Lie Ren, we were defending my castle!" Nora smiled. "Besides, Team RWBY is tough. I hit Yang with everything I had and she was fine!"
"I'm pretty sure you sent her into orbit."
"She. Was. Fine. Besides, Professor Port said that if we want to be as strong as he is, we have to practice! And Team RWBY are the best people to practice w-" Nora looked at Ren's face for a second and giggled.
"What?"
Grabbing the wet cloth from the bucket, she batted him in the nose, washing off the last bit of mess from his face. "Boop."
Ren sighed but Nora saw the small smile. "Let's get some rest, Nora."
"Okay, Ren!"
