Chapter 14:

Athena's POV

'You can call me mom,' still rung in my head. I felt dazed and not entirely sure what to say as my arms fell to my sides.

"What?" Edward answered for me.

"Athena, I have a lot to tell you," Aphrodite said with a kind smile. "A whole story to be precise," she continued. She turned to Carlisle and Esme. "May we go back to your house and talk?"

They barely nodded and then we suddenly stood inside the house, in the living room. Aphrodite had made herself comfortable on a chair. Sitting straight and a little stiff, watching all of us.

"You're the Goddess of love, Aphrodite?" Carlisle finally asked, finding his voice.

She smiled and nodded. Then she met my eyes and followed my body shape. "Hm. That won't do," she muttered.

All of a sudden, I stood dressed in a white robe. But at least I was dry. No longer soaking wet.

"Th-thanks," I stuttered. Edward kept supporting me, and I was sure that if he had let go, I would have fallen.

"Long ago I met a man and fell in love. I found my true love…" she started. She told us of my father and how I had been born a mortal and that she felt that some Gods had something to do with it. But then she had found my soulmate and got help from Hades to send me into this world so I could be together with Edward. Then other Gods had bothered and meddled and the reason I had gone through what I had, was because of them. The reason was to create other creatures in this world as well that were loyal to the Gods and she was powerless against them. Her rage had not been enough. Though she still had loyal friends and especially two sisters. Nyx –one of the sisters – had given me vampirism.

"Though you are not a vampire like the usual vampires around here. You can eat human food, which you need, but you will also start to need human blood. Animal blood will not sustain you. It does not need to be much. One sip a day should be fine. I'm sure Carlisle can come up with something. You can also drink from your mate, even if he does not have blood in his system (which is the reason you got fangs), though you cannot do so too often. Then when you are under heat, he has to be there for you and be with you. And if you end up pregnant afterwards I shall make it so you will never perish. A female vampire like you, able to give birth, can end brutally. You might bleed out, but that is also why you have four hearts. To make you as strong as possible. You are faster than the vampires in this world already. Your sense of smell and your eyes are better like theirs. Your strength is like their strength. You shall be another race of vampires. And when your children find human mates, their children shall be like you and yours. Your power is of magic since you are my child after all, but at the same time not like a witch, you are a vampire after all." She took time to look at us all in turn.

"It's really a lot to take in," Emmett finally muttered, ending the silence.

"Able to have children," Rosalie whispered excited for me.

I felt myself getting nervous. "Will you come visit again?" I asked, tears gathering in my eyes. I had just figured out who my mother was, I did not want to lose her already.

"Now I can, and when I get grandchildren you shall see me so much that you will tire of me," Aphrodite – my mom – said with a bright smile and a little bit teasing.

Laughter filled the room and I knew that we were facing a great future. Edward's arms tightened around me and I leaned back on him.

"And I shall teach you of your powers and help you with them," she added which I could only smile to in return.

Never had I believed that something like this could happen, however, it did happen. I could only accept it. My mate kept me on ground and believing. Had someone told me I would fall for Edward Cullen I would have laughed and denied it, but no longer. For he was my mate and my happiness.

Happiness was in store for us all.
