After Chris announced what happened the week before, he shouted for everyone to wake up.
This is really getting to be annoying. Courtney thought as she got up. She left her bedroom and down the hall to the bathroom to get ready for the day.
Once everyone was ready for the day, they headed outside to where Chris was waiting for them.
"Okay campers. Today's challenge will be a cooking competition." Chris announced as team two joined them. "Here's how it will work. Both teams will be cooking a dish. I will decide which dish you will be cooking. Once I tell you what dish you will be cooking, you will have a certain amount of time to cook it. I will announce that later as well. The winner will be decided by which dish we think is the best. The losing team will go to elimination." Chris guided them to the kitchen. "Your dish will be beef stew. Your time limit will be forty five minutes… Here are your recipes. You may now begin."
Both teams started to read through their recipes. Then, they began to cook. Eugene started to cut the meat. After cutting it, he picked some up to put in the pot. As he was making his way over, he dropped a piece on the floor.
"It looks like team one is a little bit ahead." Chris stated.
Phoebe was trying to open some cornstarch, but she dropped it into the pot by accident after opening it. Oops. She thought. She picked up the container and was about to grab a spoon to get most of the starch out of the pot.
"Just leave it." Duncan demanded. "We don't have enough time for that."
"I know, but it won't be…" Phoebe tried to reply, but Duncan interrupted her.
"Do you want us to lose?"
"Well…"
"Do you?!"
"No."
Phoebe put the cap back on the starch container and put it away.
Team one had the meat, starch, water, and carrots in their pot already whereas team two only had a mountain of cornstarch in theirs. Team two was completely frustrated by this. "Hurry up!" Duncan shouted.
"We're trying." Sierra complained while trying to cut up the carrots. Once she was finished, she put it into the pot. She sighed in relief, but was still trying to hurry.
"Sierra… go ahead and cut up the onions." Duncan demanded.
"I'm doing the onions, Duncan." Tyler shouted.
"Fine… Sierra, you can do the water."
Team one was nearly finished with the ingredients. All they had to do was let it cook. "It looks like team two is still preparing everything." Courtney stated.
"It looks like we could win this." Gwen grinned.
"Yeah, but Chris said that the best dish will win."
"Oh, right."
"Look at that!" Duncan shouted. "They are finished except for cooking it."
"Yeah, but remember what Chris said?" Sierra responded.
"Yes, I do."
"Um… Harold. What are you doing?"
'I'm adding a pinch of salt and some seasoning on the meat." He replied.
"Why?"
"I figured it would add some more flavor."
Phoebe noticed what Harold was doing. "It looks like working at the meat shop has payed off."
"Wait… He worked at a meat shop?" Stinky wondered.
"Don't you remember when he stole some meat to eat and he had to work there as punishment?"
"No, I don't."
"Well, he ended up enjoying it and decided to help part-time."
Team one's dish was just about finished. "I think we're done first." Courtney stated as she put the food on two different plates- one for Chris and the other for Chef.
"It looks good, but we have to wait for team two to finish their dish before we can begin." Chris informed.
"We are almost finished!" Duncan shouted.
"We're finished!" Duncan announced as he took team two's plates over to Chris and Chef.
"They both look good." Chris announced as he took a bite of team one's food. "Wow. This is really good." He took a bite of team two's food. "Umm… how much cornstarch did you put in this?"
"Why?" Phoebe wondered.
"Well… it is really thick. It's as if you poured molasses into this. Are you sure you followed the directions on the recipe?"
Uh oh. Phoebe thought. We're going to lose again. This is all my fault.
"But, I do love the flavor you have added to the meat."
Harold will be our hero if we win this.
"This is a tough decision…. My choice will be… it's a tie."
"How is it a tie?" Gwen demanded.
"I couldn't make up my mind. So, that was my decision. What about you Chef?"
"I will have to agree with the flavor on team two's meat. But, if I was served team two's plate at a restaurant, I would complain about the fact that it is way too thick. I think I'll pick… team one." Chef decided.
"That means that someone on team two will be going home today." Chris announced.
"I thought we were going to win the challenge." Sierra sighed. "Oh well. Maybe we'll win next week." She shook her head in disbelief.
"Ugh. I think I was being too bossy today." Duncan complained. "I guess the determination got the best of me."
"The votes are in. When I call your name, come and get a chocolate bar." Chris announced. "Harold… Sierra… Sugar… Stinky… Tyler… Sky… This is the final chocolate bar and it will either go to Duncan or Phoebe. The final chocolate bar goes to…
"…
"…
"…
"…
"Phoebe. That means that Duncan will be going home."
"Whatever." Duncan rolled his eyes as he was guided to the paddle boat.
"That's it for this week. What will happen next week? Tune into Total Drama."
