Chapter 6

**Dia's POV**

Confused is the understatement of the year. My parents are the question that has been haunting me for years. Haymitch knows, but he won't tell me. There are just too many unanswered questions that I need the answers to.

"Dia are you ready for bed?" Gale asked coming in to the living room.

"Not yet, I think I'm going to get some air. Go ahead I'll only be a minute," I said going over to the elevator.

I needed some air to get my head straight before these games. Usually when I was stressed at home I would go to the woods, but here I don't have that luxury. Gale nodded and went back to the room; he understood that I needed my space. I got into the elevator and went up to the roof. The Capitol people were going crazy celebrating all because we're about to go and kill each other.

"Hello my precious gem," I heard Cato whisper in my ear. His arms wrapped around my waist and he pulled me to his chest.

"Cato leave me alone," I said trying to get out of his hold.

"I don't think so, because I know something that you don't know," he said I know he was smirking.

"I don't care," I said still struggling.

He spun me around so I faced him. His arms still holding me tight so I couldn't escape.

"I know about your parents," he said smirking making my eyes widen.

"H-how?"

"Kiss me back when I kiss you and I'll tell you."

"You're lying, you don't know anything," I said getting angry.

"Yeah I'm lying about Kol and Lily Hensley," he said making me stop, that's my parents' names. "So how about that kiss hmm?"

"Fine, just tell me," I said as he nodded.

He pushed his lips against mine and I pretended like I was kissing Gale. Ohh Gale I'm betraying you, but in a week I'll be dead and I have to know the truth. When Cato was done he pulled away from me smirking.

"They live in District 2, they moved there 10 years ago," Cato said.

"And?" I asked.

"I'm going to need a few more kisses, before I spill everything."

After I had to keep kissing Cato I got the information I wanted. Apparently my dad thought I was dead, because my mother said I was attacked a few days before we were supost to leave and even had a peacekeeper in on it. Cato said he truly believed that my father had no idea I was alive, but he said my mother was lying.

"Well?" I asked again.

"There's more, but I need to get to bed. You know we have the Hunger Games tomorrow. Go get some sleep, I'll answer more questions when we're in the games, partner," he said winking at me. He went to walk away, but turned around. He pulled me to him and pecked my lips.

"One last good kiss and I'll tell you everything you want to know while we're in the games," he smirked. I huffed and crossed my arms, before I sighed nodding.

He pushed his lips to mine and kissed me fiercely. I kissed him back even though I didn't like it. He bit at my lip and I opened my mouth letting him make-out with me. He was shoving his tongue into my mouth. His hands moved from my hips to my ass. I pushed his hands off and took a step back. He looked at me angrily.

"I wasn't finished," he growled.

"You can't touch me like that," I said.

"You're mine; I'll do what I want with you. I've been nice, since you're not as outgoing as others, but you do not step away from me," he growled.

"I have to go," I said trying to get away from the Career.

"Fine, I'll see you tomorrow," he said pushing his lips against mine one last time.

I went to the elevator and got on going back to floor 12. When I walked off of the elevator I went straight to bedroom. I pulled off my jacket and laid in bed with Gale. He wrapped his arms around me and kissed my neck. I felt horrible for what I did, especially since Gale has no idea. I have to know though I can't keep going on like this. I'm going to die soon I have to know about my parents.

"It's time to get up you two," Effie said coming into the room.

I groaned still wanting to sleep, but I knew there was no chance of any more sleep. Hell I'm not going to sleep until I die. Gale and I got out of bed and changed into the clothes that were left for us. I put on the dark green pants and black t-shirt. Gale had the same exact outfit as me. We went out and ate our breakfast neither of us saying anything.

Today was the day we go into the arena and only one or neither of us are coming home. After breakfast Haymitch took Gale to the elevator and I had to wait. He kissed me before he left. After the elevator dinged Effie took me and we got in the elevator.

"This is the year that District 12 is going to have a winner I just know it," she said, but I knew she was saying it more about Gale than me.

We went up to the roof and we walked towards this huge thing that was supost to fly us to the arena. Once I was close enough Peacekeepers took me on board and shoved me into a seat. I looked around and saw Gale wasn't on here, but Cato was right across from me. He smirked at me I would love to punch that smirk off his face. A peacekeeper came and grabbed my arm and stabbed me with something that hurt like hell.

"It's your tracker," was all she said before going to the next person.

We took off and it wasn't long before we landed. This is just so overwhelming for me I couldn't believe this, this is where I'm going to die. I was escorted to a room and there stood Cinna. I ran to him and hugged him, before I started crying. He is the only person in the Capital that has shown me any kind of compassion.

"You'll make it out, I have faith in you," he said.

"Gale's going home, I'm not," I replied.

"Do you really think that boy is going to let you die? He loves you so much he volunteered to save you Diamond. I also have your token," he said handing me my ring back.

I looked at it and smiled it's about time I got it back. I kept looking at it, before I handed it back to him. He looked at me wondering why I had done that.

"Gale's coming home I'm not give that back to him," I said.

He shook his head before going over and getting a jacket off a hanger. He helped me into and I noticed that it was light. I assume it's going to me hot in the arena. A voice sounded saying 40 seconds. Cinna took me over to a clear tube. I turned and looked at him.

"You'll be great," was all he said before he kissed my head.

The voice sounded again saying 15 seconds. I got into the tube and took a deep breath. I waved to Cinna and I started rising. It went completely dark and then there was a bright light and I could hear water splashing. I looked around and saw there was a beach behind me. In front of me was the Cornucopia with supply's scattered everywhere around. Behind the Cornucopia was a jungle that looked dense. These trees everywhere were tall with on a few branches at the top. I looked around at the tributes looking for Gale. He was at least ten people to the right of me. I was more in the middle of the group. The countdown started and I was quickly looking where everything I needed was.

Five…Four…Three…Two…One.
