"Elsa! We're outta milk!" Anna shouted with her head in the fridge.
Her older sister lifted one side of her large headphones. Anna could hear her music faintly from where she stood.
"Hmmm, what was that?" She asked.
Anna gently rolled her eyes. "I said, we're out of milk." She repeated.
Elsa tucked the earpiece behind her ear. "I'll go to the market tomorrow. Make a list of what we need."
Anna groaned. "But I wanted milk with my chocolate cake."
It was Elsa's turn to roll her eyes. "I think you'll survive, Anna."
Anna gave off one last grunt before returning to the fridge. She grabbed a piece of chocolate cake that rested on a small plate, fished a fork out of the cabinet drawer, and headed over to sit next to her sister. Elsa felt the couch dip but didn't bother to look up, her headset already back on. Anna peered over at her laptop screen.
"You're finally making a Facebook?"
Elsa sighed and slid her headphones down so they rested around her neck. "Yes. I got tired of you and Kristoff pestering me about it."
Anna laughed. "We weren't pestering. We were merely suggesting."
"Mhmm." Elsa hummed unconvinced.
"Besides, I bet you five bucks you're only doing this because Gregor asked if he could friend you on Facebook."
Elsa remained unnerved. "Then you owe me five dollars, because that is not the case."
"Oh?"
"Yes. I still don't know why I'm doing this, at max I'll only have five friends." She finished typing in her name and moved on to her status and likes.
Anna shrugged. "So what? Facebook is meant for friends. I mean, some people friend anyone and everyone but that's not always the case." She leaned in closer to the screen. "Elsa, you're supposed to enter your relationship status."
Elsa had skipped that part and moved on to what movies she liked. She looked over at her sister with a pointed look. "What relationship, Anna?"
"You can put 'single'."
"...Oh." Elsa scrolled back up and clicked the arrow that dropped down to reveal the options. She selected the appropriate one for her. "There."
She returned back to adding more to her profile. Anna stabbed her cake with the fork and brought a huge chunk to her mouth. She picked up another sizable bite and placed the fork in front of her sister's mouth.
"Want a bite?"
Elsa opened her mouth in answer. Anna placed the fork in her mouth and she clamped down to snatch the delicious dessert. Her little sister grinned as she took the silverware back and ate the rest. She watched Elsa finish up her settings and everything. Anna added in a few helpful tips here and there.
"Says I need a profile picture."
Anna placed the now empty plate on the coffee table. She licked her lips in an attempt to get rid of any stray crumbs.
"Oh just go wash your face in the bathroom." Elsa directed.
Anna childishly stuck out her tongue and got up. She grabbed a paper towel from the kitchen and wetted it using the kitchen sink. She wiped away the crumbs and chocolate stains before tossing the now brown tinted towel in the trash. She sat herself back down. Elsa picked up the empty plate and held it out, silently telling her little sister to clean up after herself. Anna rolled her eyes and got up again to wash the dish.
"Why don't you use the pictures from graduation?" She called from the sink.
Elsa minimized her internet and wet under her photos. Pictures of Anna and her at her graduation covered the screen. She scrolled through them. "Should I use a picture of just me?"
"It doesn't really matter. You can do whatever you want."
Elsa clicked on a photo of her and Anna Kristoff had taken. The two were laughing at something Anna had said and the man decided it was a good opportunity for a candid shot. Elsa's smile was wide as she let out a laugh while Anna had a hand on her shoulder and was slightly hunched over holding onto her stomach.
"You like this one?" Elsa questioned.
Anna turned off the water and placed the plate back in the cabinet. She walked over and looked at the screen. She smiled. "Yeah, I like that one. I look pretty cute."
"You're beautiful, Anna." Elsa responded without hesitating.
The redhead wrapped her arms around her sister, leaning over the back of the couch. "Aw, thanks Elsa. You're beautiful, too. And don't you worry, you'll find someone someday."
"Thank you?"
Anna sat down again. "I'm serious. You're gorgeous and any guy who doesn't like you is out of his mind." She paused in thought. "Except for Kristoff, he's off limits."
Elsa snorted as a small blush appeared on her face. "Thank you Anna, but the questioning tone was because I had no idea how you went from talking about profile pictures to relationships."
"You did just set your relationship status." The younger pointed out.
"I guess, but I'm still not seeing a connection." Her eyes looked over to see Anna averting her gaze. She looked down to also see her thumbs twiddling. Something was up. "Anna? What's going on?"
"Nothing." She lied through her teeth.
"Anna." Elsa stared her little sister down. Anna could feel her eyes digging into hers with determination. She succumbed quickly.
"Okay, okay. Just stop with the stare, it's freaking me out."
Elsa let a victorious smirk appear on her face. "Talk."
Anna sighed. "This has been on my mind for awhile." Elsa waited patiently. "Are you happy?"
Elsa was taken back. She wasn't expecting a question, more like a confession. She thought for a moment before responding. "Uh, yes, I'm happy. I'm very happy."
The redhead looked up curiously. Elsa continued. "Anna, since you moved in I've never been happier. I was getting lonely living by myself and I missed you terribly. I'm so thankful we were able to reconcile and get to this." She gestured between the two of them. "Now what is this all about?"
Anna scooted closer and rested her head on Elsa's shoulder. She had her sister's full attention, the laptop forgotten at the moment. "I'm worried about you," She explained. "Ever since I started dating Kristoff, I can't help but feel amazingly happy."
"Okaaaay." Elsa processed. "That's a good thing, Anna. Really good."
"I know, and I agree. But feeling this way just makes me wonder what on Earth I did to deserve such a great guy. And then I think about everything you've done and how you deserve someone. Have you even been kissed, Elsa?"
Elsa looked down at her little sister. Anna was facing her, her head still resting on her shoulder. She smiled, secretly loving how Anna and only Anna would trail her thoughts off and make these connections. Only Anna could go from thinking about her relationship, to worrying about her big sister. She was too caring for her own good.
"Yes, I've been kissed." She finally answered.
Anna reacted immediately. "When? Who?"
Elsa laughed as the memory came to mind. "Do you remember when you were in first grade and that older boy was bugging you?"
Anna nodded her head. "Yeah, I think his name was Erik, right?"
"Yes," She continued. "Well, one day I got fed up with it and told him to back off. He and I had the same recess block. I warned him I would give him cooties if he bothered you again."
Anna laughed, the idea of cooties a foreign and ridiculous concept now that they were older.
"He didn't listen." Elsa proceeded. "So, the next day I waltzed up to him, grabbed his face, and kissed him square on the lips. He ran off screaming, shouting he was poisoned." Elsa chuckled. "Not the most romantic first kiss, but definitely the funniest."
Anna was howling with laughter. She was holding her sides as she leaned fully into Elsa. "S-So that's why he avoided me like the plague the rest of the school year!" She wiped her eyes as they started to water. "Thanks, Elsa. I never knew."
"I made sure you didn't. You were only six, but you were already starting your 'tease older sister' phase."
Anna calmed her full blown laughter to just giggles. She hugged Elsa close. "You're probably right, but I don't really count that."
Elsa's eyebrows went up. "What? It was a kiss, lips on lips. What more do you want?"
"A real kiss." She stressed. "One with someone you like and who likes you back. The kind that makes you melt."
"Melt?" Elsa asked. "Are we talking about a kiss or a popsicle?"
Anna swatted her older sister's arm. "I'm serious!"
"So am I." Elsa replied with a short laugh. "Anna, those kinds of sensations are only in movies and books. I highly doubt people actually see fireworks."
Anna huffed. She was getting nowhere with her stubborn sister. She went in a different direction. "Have you ever been on a date?"
"Nope." Elsa answered without hesitation, popping the 'p'. She went back to listening to her music.
Anna got up from the couch, knowing this conversation was just about over. And then an idea came to her mind. A rather brilliant one, she thought. Quickly hiding her mischievous smirk, she grabbed her phone off the coffee table. Elsa paid her no mind. She dialed her boyfriend's number and put the mobile on speaker. She placed it back on the table, finally grabbing Elsa's attention. The headphones went down.
"What are you doing?"
Anna held up her index finger. "Shush."
The phone rang twice before Kristoff's voice came through.
"Hey, feistypants." He greeted.
"Hi! You're on speaker phone, Elsa's with me."
A pause. "Oh, hey Elsa."
"Hello." Elsa said with a confused tone. Her eyes looked over to her sister, seeing her bounce excitedly. What was she up to?
"Not that I don't love talking to you, but is Gregor there by any chance?"
"Gregor?" Both Kritsoff and Elsa asked in the same puzzled tone.
Kristoff recovered quickly. "Uh, yeah, he's here...Dude!" The girls listened as Kristoff called over his roommate. As Gregor got closer they could hear him more clearly.
"...me for?"
"I don't know, dude. She just asked for you."
They heard the phone being switched over and soon Gregor was speaking.
"Gregor here."
"Hey, Greg." Anna greeted cheerfully. Too cheerfully.
"Hey, Anna. What can I do for you?"
"It's about Elsa." Said blonde widened her eyes at her name. Anna continued on undeterred. "You see, she's never been on a date." She voiced bluntly.
Elsa audibly gasped. She put two and two together in a matter of milliseconds. She lunged for the phone. Anna, already anticipating her movements, swiped it up before getting off the couch and avoiding her at all costs.
"Oh, that's a shame." Came his voice from the speaker. "I'm actually rather surprised no one has asked her out."
Elsa was chasing Anna around their tiny apartment. Elsa was whisper shouting at her, somehow managing to avoid being heard by Gregor. Anna was trying to control her laughter, tempted to burst out cackling. If someone were to walk in they would've found it quite comical. Elsa would disagree.
Anna dodged a rather close call, Elsa's hand grazing her cellphone. But she held on tight. "Me too. I mean, she's amazing! Anyways, I feel this is a tragic oversight that can no longer be ignored."
Elsa felt the steam coming off her head. She was going to throttle Anna.
Gregor chuckled at Anna's dramatizing. "I see. Are you asking me to set her up with someone I know? Cause I have to be honest, I can't really think of anyone."
"No silly, I think you should take her out."
Correction, she was going to kill Anna.
"You want me to take your sister on a date?" Gregor reiterated.
That was it. Elsa did something she couldn't remember doing since she was eight. She tackled Anna. The redhead let out a surprised squeal before going down. Fortunately they had maneuvered back over to the couch, so Anna fell on nice puffy cushions. Elsa pinned her down and then grabbed the phone. Completely forgetting someone, specifically Gregor, was on the other end, she started chastising rather loudly...in French.
A slew of words came out of her mouth, none of which Anna understood. She knew Elsa was well-educated, but had no idea she was fluent in another language. She vaguely wondered if she added that to her new profile.
"Are you even listening to me?" Elsa shouted.
Anna snapped out of it. "Not really. I can't understand you." Elsa cocked her head in confusion. "You were yelling in French, Els."
"Oh."
Silence filled the room. Then, "Uh, hello?" Gregor was still on the other end.
"Merde." Elsa muttered. She brought the phone up to her mouth. "Pardon, I mean, sorry Gregor. Listen, please just ignore my insane little sister. She must've hit her head or something."
Gregor responded back calmly. Elsa's eyes widened. He was answering in perfect French. Which meant only one thing.
"You heard what I was saying?" She panicked. Not only had she just yelled, but she also had sworn.
"Clear as day." He replied. There was humor in his voice.
Anna had escaped from under her and was sitting on the other side of the couch. Elsa situated herself, sitting on top of one tucked leg, the other hanging off. She felt her face start to heat up. She groaned loudly while sending a death glare Anna's way.
Gregor chuckled on the other end. "So when should I pick you up?"
"Huh?" Real intelligent answer, Elsa.
"For the date? What time should I pick you up?" He repeated.
Elsa sat there confused. Gregor was still on speaker phone, Anna hearing everything he said. She was giving Elsa an encouraging look, even mouthing the word "go" repeatedly.
"Gregor, you don't have to do this. Anna's just being a deranged little pain in my backside." She said with honesty.
"Hey!" Anna cried indignantly. Elsa ignored her.
"I know I don't, I want to. I think it'll be fun. Unless you don't want to, Elsa. No pressure."
There's always pressure when someone says 'no pressure'. She thought bitterly.
Still, if she had to go on her first date, better have it with someone she knows as opposed to a blind one. She's very well aware Anna would try something like that, no telling what goes on in that head of hers.
"It's fine, Gregor. Pick me up at 8:00 tomorrow?"
"You got it!" He said happily. "Oh, before I hang up, Anna, did you want to talk to Kristoff again?"
"Yes, please!" Anna grabbed her phone back, took it off speaker, and spoke with Kristoff.
Elsa sat there with only two things on her mind. The first, she was going on a date. An actual date. She started to slightly panic at this realization. The second, which she was reminded of when Anna hung up, was she was going to murder her baby sister. The only question was, which one was she going to focus on first?
Anna shrieked as Elsa headed her way. Option B it is.
AUTHOR'S NOTE:
Merde - shit
So you know that saying that Americans butcher the French? Yeah, I'm one of them. I really wanted to do a full on sentence of the two speaking French, but didn't trust Google translation in any way. So I stuck with just two words. If I got even those wrong, PLEASE NOTIFY me so I can fix them!
This chapter was so much fun! I was actually laughing while writing it :D Who wouldn't when they picture Elsa, queen of grace and dignity, running around chasing her sister? Alternate AU or not, Elsa will always have a charm to her, which is increased quite comically when provoked by her little sister.
