CHAPTER FIFTEEN
Eva gently shakes Sophia awake early the next morning and helps her out of the bed as to not wake up Hayden or Warren. She, Sophia and Jenna have a nice small breakfast before Jenna goes back on watch.
Eva holds Sophia's hand as they and Charlie leave the house, Jenna closing and locking it up behind them as they make their way to her truck.
Eva sets down her bow and Sophia's backpack with all of her drawings and pictures of her and the others into the backseat. She helps a tired Sophia climb into the back of the truck, Eva buckles her up before kissing her forehead. She shuts the door before climbing behind the wheel, ignoring the pull of her stiches as she steps up into the cab.
The drive to the meeting place is peaceful as Sophia tells them happily that they will love her mama and the others and can't wait to see her again.
Eva parks further down from the meeting place near a bunch of abandoned cars, thankful for the tinted windows. They sit there waiting in a comfortable silence as they wait for the others to show up.
TWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWD
Carol and the others mill around the camp as they wait, all of them constantly checking their watches waiting for nine o' clock to roll around so they can get ready for the ten o'clock meeting.
When eight thirty rolls around Carol can't wait any longer and she stands up and goes to her new tent that she will share with Sophia. She busies herself making sure that it is perfect for when her baby comes home to her.
As she fixes Sophia's new bed she hears the others moving around needing stuff to do as well. After a few minutes Lori walks into the tent and sits down on the cot beside her and grabs her hand.
"Only an hour and five minutes left." Lori said and Carol for a moment feels a bit of fear. "A lot can happen in hour." She whispers and then instantly feels worse. Lori shakes her head and shushes her.
"Don't think like that. Let's think this has just been a long field trip and you are now getting ready to go pick her from school, nothing bad about that." Lori says and Carol takes in a deep breath and pushes the fear and the tears away before smiling at her, which she returns.
"Hey you two, we're about ready to go." Rick says when he pokes his head into the tent. Carol quickly stands up clinching Sophia's doll to her chest and she walks outside, Lori following soon after.
Carol hugs everyone as she walks over to the car and when she gets closer she sees Daryl leaning against it and she feels happy and so thankful, he has done so much to bring her baby back to her.
She stands next to him and looks over to Rick and Shane who both are a little further from the group and they are having a very heated discussion. Everyone knows that they are having authority issues and Rick doesn't trust Shane enough to leave him on the farm without him here as well.
Rick has the last word before he turns and walks over to them, Shane angrily following behind him. She climbs into the back seat with Daryl and she holds the doll close as Rick starts driving off the farm and to the meeting place.
Just a little longer and she will have her baby in her arms again and she thanks god for not punishing her baby for her own mistakes and giving her this chance to see her again.
TWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWD
Jenna walks down the steps slowly as her holds Warren in her one good arm. She walks into the living room and gently hands him over to Kailee, who has become the go to help with the baby seeing as how before all of this she just had a baby sister.
"They still asleep?" Jenna asks Mel and Kailee and Mel looks away from the window and over to her. "Eva said to let them sleep seeing as how Cody is sick and Abigail is taking care of him." She tells her before looking back out the window.
"But he needs his morning antibiotics soon though, can you give them to him, Mel's on watch and I'm on baby duty." Kailee said looking up at her from her place on the couch with Warren, while Hayden plays on a blanket on the floor.
Jenna just nods before going to the kitchen, she grabs two antibiotics from the bag on the table and a glass of water before walking down the long hall to Abigail and Cody's room.
When she gets to the door she hears them moving around inside so she knocks on the door before turning the handle. When the door fully opens, the pills and glass crash to the ground as a bloody disfigured Cody quickly shuffles over to her.
She doesn't have enough time to scream as she stumbles back away from him as she tries desperately to grab the gun from its holster at her side.
When he lunges for her she lifts her arm up and Cody bits down on the cast as they fall down to the floor. Jenna screams as she tries bringing the gun up to shoot him but his flaying arms knock it out of her hand.
She cries out in pain as Cody crushes the cast trying to get to her skin, she then screams louder when she feels something tearing and ripping into her leg and she knows in that second that she is going to die.
She hears the girls and the boys crying and she scrambles to find the gun that was knocked from her hand. When she finds the gun and brings it up and shoots him in the neck which makes him dislodge from her cast. But before she can take another shot he attacks her shoulder and bites and she screams as she shoots him in his head.
She lays there for what feels like an eternity as Abigail tears apart her leg as Cody's weight suffocates her. Her eyes jolt open when a gunshot rings out and the ripping pain stops.
With blurry eyes she tilts her head up and sees Kailee standing there with a gun pointing towards her. She then feels Cody's weight being pushed off of her, before she is dragged down the hall and to the living room.
She grabs both of the girls' arms as they drag her, the pain in her leg is excruciating with being jostled as they move her. They gently lay her down and she slowly looks around the room as her ears ring from the gun shots or the blood loss she is not sure.
She looks up into the terrified faces of the girls as they start trying to take care of her wounds. But she knew the moment Abigail bit her that she was dead and she knows that the girls know it too.

It is nine twenty-three when Eva sees a small green car driving towards them and she tells Sophia to get down. She and Charlie scoot further down in their seats and Eva picks up the binoculars and watches as the car stops in the middle of the street and three men and a woman get out of the car.
She knows in that moment that this is Sophia's group and her mother. But just to be safe she helps Sophia look through the binoculars at see the people. It doesn't take her long to see before she starts crying and Eva takes the binoculars from her before picking up the radio.
"Hello, this is Eva. Carol, are you there?" Eva said into the radio as she watches them, she sees the woman pick up the radio before hearing her reply. "Yes we're here, we're at the street."
"Yeah I know, we can see you, it's us in the black truck so don't shoot." Eva says before handing the binoculars over to Charlie and then she starts the truck up. She starts driving towards them and she sees them all turn and watch as she drives up to them.

Kailee tightens the baby blanket tighter around the massive wound on Jenna's lower leg, she jumps when Jenna's leg jerks and she screams out. She keeps saying sorry before doing it again it needs to be tight to slow the bleeding until Eva and grandpa get back.
She knows what the bites mean, she does, mama and daddy died the same way, but maybe just maybe it's not so bad. "Kailee go get the med bag from the kitchen and some more towels!" Mel screams and she quickly gets up and runs to the kitchen but slips and falls to the floor from all the blood.
She scrambles up and runs to the kitchen and she throws the med back over her shoulder before grabbing the towels from the box on the counter. She is about to run back to the living room when a banging sound comes from the back door.
Her head whips around and she sees walker's banging against the boards of the kitchens windows. She drops the towels and bag and runs back to the living room.
"Walkers! Walkers! We need to get up stairs!" She yells before picking up the baby in her arms before grabbing Hayden's hand and they run up the steps and into Eva's room. She sets the baby on the bed before telling Hayden to watch his brother before running back down the stairs.
Mel holds Jenna under arms as she holds her legs and as quickly as they can they get her up the stairs and down the hall. All the while they hear the walkers breaking down the boards and the windows breaking.
They all fall to the floor in the room and Kailee quickly shuts the door and locks it. But as she turns the lock she hears the door give way as walkers start to fill the house.
"Mel the dresser! Help me!" She cries as she stands and starts pushing the very heavy dresser. Mel runs up and helps drag it and they get it in front of the door as the groaning and moaning slowly creep up the steps towards them.

Eva stops the truck and she quickly shuts it off before jumping out as she watches Carol slowly step forward from the three men. She smiles and opens the back door and helps Sophia out and she watches as Sophia slowly walks out from behind the door.
When she sees her mother she takes off running and into Carols waiting arms. She closes the doors as she watches Carol break down and they fall to the ground crying in each other arms.
She stands in front of the truck with Charlie as they all give Carol and Sophia this moment. When Carol starts to calm down a little, Eva looks up to the three men and starts walking up to them.
The man with short almost curly hair meets her about half way. "Hey, well I'm Eva it's nice to meet you." She said as she shakes the man's hand, a flash back of when she first met Charlie flashes before her eyes and she laughs a little.
"Well I'm Rick, this is Daryl and Shane and I'm really happy to meet you too." Rick said smiling and Charlie walks up and introduces himself as Eva nods to Daryl and Shane.
After the short introduction Eva walks over and helps Carol stand up when they both have calmed down some. When Carol fully stands she pulls Eva into her arms, Sophia being squashed in the middle, Carol starts to cry again, trying to say thank you but can't get the words out fully as sobs interrupt her.
Eva pulls back a little not wanting to squish Sophia but stills holds onto Carol and Eva quietly shushes her while rubbing her back saying its ok.
After Carol finally calms down and lets Eva go as she holds onto to Sophia. Eva stands next to them as she looks around to the men, who are just watching, three out of four looking happy, all but but Shane, Eva doesn't quite like the look in Shane's eyes.
"So how is your living arrangements, are you in a good place?" Eva asks as she walks over to the men and Rick looks away from Carol and Sophia and over to her. "Yeah we're on a farm on Fairburn street, a man and his family took us in." Rick tells her and she nods and smiles but jumps and reaches for her gun when Shane yells angrily at Rick.
TWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWD
"RICK! Why would you tell these people where we are! We don't know them!" Shane yells as he storms up to him and Eva, he doesn't fail to notice as her hand reaches for her gun.
"Shane! Calm down, I'm handling this, back off." He says back while clinching his jaw shut as to not yell back. How can he ruin this moment this much needed reunion of a mother and child.
"Hey, hey its ok we are staying on Brewer Street, it's like a mile and a half away from town down Third Street." Eva said trying diffusing the situation and he can tell it has little effect on Shane.
"I only asked because Sophia told me how you guys were pretty much living in your cars and I was going to ask if you wanted to come live with us on our farm." She says and Rick gives Shane a look which makes him look away from him and he turns and gives Eva a smile.
"Thank you that is very, very kind of you. I hope that offer stays open, we have had a bit of a problem..." He said looking over to Shane who scoffs and looks away, before he looks back to Eva.
"Hershel and I are working it out but you never know." Rick says and Eva looks over at Shane before looking back at him. "It's an open offer, we need more good people out there, more friends. Uhh you should know there is a... bad group near the town. I had a run in with a few, they are bad news." Eva says and his shoulders tense up and he hears Daryl and Shane walk closer to her.
"Yeah I ran into a few too in town. Do you know where they are?" He asks her but she shakes her head. "No uhh they tried... tried taking me back to their camp... but I got away, I killed them. They didn't say where they were dragging me, but it was towards north of town but that was several days ago their group most likely moved by now." She says and Rick's stomach rolls and he feels like his is going to be sick.
He then finally takes in her face more fully and he sees the faint bruises on her left cheek and the scab on her bottom lip and he shakes his head an looks away when he feels her getting nervous under his stares.
"I'm sorry that happened, but I'm glad you are safe." He tells her and she nods before looking away and over to Carol and Sophia who are talking quietly to each other, both in their own little world.
TWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWD
Daryl shakes his head and looks away from the woman after she tells them about her attack from a group, most likely Randall's. His hands tighten as he gets angry but a part of him is happy when she says she got away from them after killing them, good riddance.
"Uhh I was wondering where you found her, we looked all over, never found all that much." He asks when he sees her eyes glazing over as she stares at Carol and Sophia, most likely thinking about that day.
She shakes her head before looking over to him. "Umm about two miles that way, she ran over Cayson's creek bridge before running towards town. I found her while hunting, took her back home with me." She tells them while pointing the path Sophia took.
"Yeah I found her doll further down the creek, I was only about a half mile from her tracks." Daryl tells her and she nods and tells him while she was crossing the old bridge she fell and dropped the doll in the creek, but she was getting chased so she couldn't catch it.
"Was she out there long?" Rick asks her quietly while quickly looking over to Carol, making sure she is not hearing their convention. "No, I found her maybe a half hour to an hour after she got lost. But she was being chased the whole time. It was close, very close, if I was a few seconds late... we wouldn't be here talking right now." She whispers to them not wanting to upset Carol.
All of a sudden the radio's on Eva and Charlie's belts crackle and his blood runs cold as terrified cries and screams come through. He sees her eyes widen before seeing her and Charlie quickly running towards the truck.
"We have to help them!" Carol yells as the truck starts up and turns quickly before driving off. They all quickly get in the car and Daryl glares at Shane who is still standing in the same place he was.
"You can either help us or walk back to the farm!" Rick yells and Shane quickly jumps in the car and Rick doesn't waste time driving after Eva and Charlie and Daryl hopes that they aren't too late.
