AUTHOR'S NOTE: I'M SORRY! I'M SORRY, I'M SORRY, I'M SORRY! I never meant for it to have been be this long since I updated! I'm going back to school this coming Sunday and I've been packing, getting things situated, books, schedules, all that fun jazz. SENIOR YEAR! Anyways, I apologize and I hope this lengthy chapter will serve as an apology.
Elsa lay with her legs spread out on the couch, a book in her hands. Anna and Rapunzel sat on the floor playing the Wii, an intense battle of Mario Kart before them.
"No fair! You got the blue shell!" Anna whined.
Rapunzel cackled victoriously and released the dreaded winged shell. It went soaring and smashed into Anna's player, Yoshi, and sent her soaring into the air, landing her back into fourth place. Rapunzel, Toad, zoomed into first.
The boys were in the kitchen making some late-night snacks after a nice night out. Gregor walked out with a bowl full of chips, lifted up Elsa's legs, and then plopped himself down.
Elsa glanced at him over her book. "Comfy?"
"Very." He replied happily, giving one of her ankles a rub. "You?"
"Mhmm." She hummed, getting back to her book.
Gregor started to snack on his chips. Despite trying very hard not to, a few crumbs escaped and landed on Elsa's feet. She lowered her book and leaned herself forward, wiping the little morsels off.
"Okay, bud." She declared. "Chips or move. Make a choice."
Gregor pondered for a moment. "My girlfriend or food..." He trailed off thinking.
"Gregor." Elsa laughed.
"Not even a contest." He confirmed with a kiss to her cheek.
"What's not a contest?" Eugene asked as he exited the kitchen and sat on the floor behind Rapunzel.
"Food or Elsa." Gregor answered as he handed the bowl over to Kristoff who sat in front of the couch, using the bottom as a backrest.
Eugene hummed in agreement as he wrapped his arms around Rapunzel's waist and tugged her back.
"Eugene!" She laughed. "Come on, I'm winning."
"Not for long!" Anna laughed as she took advantage of Rapunzel's temporarily kidnapping.
The green dinosaur whizzed past the tiny mushroom, securing his place in first.
"No fair!" Rapunzel whined.
"How's it feel?" Anna countered.
Elsa rolled her eyes at the two and continued with her book. Rapunzel had become part of their family, more like a close cousin than just a best friend. She was thankful that Anna and her hit it off when they first met.
The boys cheered on their respective girlfriends while Gregor laughed and cheered for whoever was in first. Elsa made it through two chapters before she gave up and joined in the fray.
"Anna, red shell!" Elsa screamed at her sister.
"I'm trying, I'm trying!"
"I call next race!" Gregor shouted.
Anna ended up winning after a hard fought battle. Rapunzel handed the remote over to Gregor.
"Good luck." She grumbled.
Gregor cheerfully took the remote and sat himself down.
"Just cause you're dating my sister, don't expect me to go easy." Anna warned.
"Perish the thought." He laughed. "And just because you're my girlfriend's sister, don't expect me to go easy."
Elsa laughed at the two. "Just start. I play winner."
And so the game commenced. Anna ended up losing, handing over her remote to Elsa. The couple did not go easy on each other, but in the end it was Elsa who won. She played Eugene and Kristoff next, surpassing them too. Anna joked that Elsa should've gone back to reading.
After two hours it was reaching around 2:30 in the morning when the group decided to call it a day. Anna had even fallen asleep against Kristoff's shoulder.
Kristoff gently nudged her awake and the two headed off to bed.
"G'night, Elsa." Anna murmured, placing a kiss to Elsa's head. "See ya in the morning."
"Good night, Anna. Sleep well."
Elsa watched Kristoff guide Anna to their room. At this rate Kristoff was holding her up while she more or less dragged herself there.
Elsa sighed softly and stretched. "We should turn in too. I don't know about you, but I'm beat."
Gregor yawned in agreement.
"I thought you said the left."
"No, I claimed the right."
Gregor sat on the right side of the bed in a T-shirt and pajama pants. He was reading a book, Elsa's in fact. She had come out of the bathroom after a relaxing shower, wearing a white camisole and ice blue pajama shorts. She bent over and unwrapped the towel from her head, squeezing out the remaining drops.
Elsa looked over and realized what book he was reading. "Hey, that's mine." She hung the now damp towel up on the side of the door.
"I know." He said distractedly. "It's a really good read."
Elsa raised an eyebrow before grabbing one of the pillows from the empty left side. She hit her boyfriend's arm. The book dropped, effectively having him lose his page.
"Heeey." Gregor moaned. "It was just getting good."
Elsa smirked. "Well, you should've thought of that before you stole my book and side of the bed."
"You said left!" He laughed, reaching for the pillow his back rested on.
"I said right!" She hit him again to make her point.
Gregor retaliated with a hit of his own. He smacked her clean on the gut. One glare and it turned into war. Elsa went to whack him, but Gregor rolled and dodged just in time. He got off the bed and started chasing her around the room with his pillow held high, Elsa laughing all the while.
She suddenly stopped, causing him to slam the brakes. As he tried to regain balance after a sudden stop, Elsa took advantage and went to thwack him on the head. But he was too quick. He grabbed the pillow before she could land another blow and held it up high out of reach. Elsa stood on her tiptoes and stretched as far as she could, but to no avail. Gregor held tight to the pillow as well as a satisfied smirk.
"Freakishly tall, annoying man." She grumbled.
"I am not freakishly tall, you're adorably short."
Elsa blushed lightly. She crossed her arms and looked to the side. "You can have the right." She muttered.
Gregor chuckled and leaned down to kiss her. Elsa returned the gesture, her blush deepened. "How about this? We share. Deal?" He offered.
"...Deal." She agreed.
Elsa climbed in the left, Gregor the right. He turned his back and scooted towards the edge, making sure to give her her space. Elsa noticed he was almost off the edge and tapped his arm.
"You can move over here." She avoided his eyes and looked down at her lap. "I don't mind."
"You positive?" Gregor checked.
Elsa nodded her head and let out a small hum. Gregor took the invite and moved over, rolling over so they faced each other. Elsa laid her head down and let out a sigh to relax.
"Night." She whispered.
"Goodnight, sweetie." He stretched his neck and placed a small kiss on her forehead before closing his eyes and drifting off, missing his girlfriend's face go beet red.
Gregor woke to shivering. He groggily opened his eyes and looked down to see Elsa pressed up against him. She had moved over in her sleep in an attempt to get warmer. The covers were already up to her neck but she was still cold.
That's what you get for wearing a tank and shorts. He thought as he tried to keep his eyes upward.
Summer nights in August turned quite cold once the sun went down. Add in the fact that Rapunzel's lake house was air conditioned, and it was no wonder Elsa was freezing. Gregor carefully wrapped his arms around her, cuddling her close. She instinctively shuffled closer, her shivers subsiding. Gregor smiled and rested his chin atop her head, closing his eyes yet again.
Elsa woke up first out of habit. During her college years she would have morning classes and also was an early riser from the start. She went to stretch and felt arms around her. She turned her head upward to see Gregor peacefully asleep, tiny snores coming from his mouth. After getting over the initial shock, she giggled and placed a light kiss on his jaw before carefully maneuvering herself out of his arms. He let out a small groan of protest from the lack of heat, but then turned on his side and continued to snooze.
Elsa felt a shiver run up her and looked around for her sweater. She tiptoed over to her duffel and started to rummage through it, searching for the warm article. No luck. She looked around the room for something to warm her up. She spotted one of Gregor's T-shirts hanging out his backpack, probably from when he grabbed one last night. Elsa grabbed the shirt and inspected it. It wasn't one he wore yesterday and, despite being very wrinkled, was clean. Her debate ended when she felt another shiver crawl up her back. She slipped the shirt on. Gregor wasn't much bigger than her, but he had a long torso. The shirt ended just where her pajama shorts did. She shrugged and padded quietly out of the room, craving some coffee.
Elsa waltzed into the kitchen letting out a huge yawn. Rapunzel sat at the small side table with her drawing pad. Elsa's yawn alerted her of her presence and she peeked upward. Elsa walked right past her without noticing and opened the cabinet for a mug. Rapunzel saw her attire and smirked, putting her pencil down.
"Mornin'." She chirped.
Elsa jumped and spun around, her hand over her heart. Rapunzel held her hand to her mouth to stifle her giggles. "Geez, Punze, you nearly gave me a heart attack!"
"Sorry." She chortled.
Elsa rolled her eyes. "What are you even doing up so early?"
Rapunzel held up her pad, a sketch of the lake with the early sun glimmering on the surface in the works. "I don't draw these for the heck of it. When the sun's up, I'm up."
Elsa nodded and turned to grab the coffee grinds. "What are you doing up?" Rapunzel asked, a small teasing tone in her voice that went over Elsa's head.
"Force of habit." She answered plainly. "This is usually the time I would wake up for work."
"On a weekend?"
"Just ask Anna, I get up early no mater what day it is."
Elsa scooped the grinds into the filter and started the pot. A comfortable silence settled between them, the only sound being the running of the coffee as it dripped into the pot.
Rapunzel gave Elsa another once over before finally asking. "So, is that your shirt? Cause it's kinda big on you."
Elsa shook her head. "No, it's Gregor's. I'm freezing in here."
"Why not wear your sweatshirt?"
"Couldn't find it."
Rapunzel continued to stare at her. Elsa's eyebrow went up. "What?"
"Are you...are you wearing something under it?" Rapunzel asked tentatively.
Elsa's face caught on fire. "Yes, of course I am!" To confirm her statement, she lifted the shirt a tad to show her shorts and the bottom of her tank.
Rapunzel shrugged innocently. "Sorry, just asking."
Elsa turned away, trying to calm her blush. The brunette noticed her discomfort and got up from the table. She placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Hey, I'm just teasing. I'm sorry, Els."
Elsa faced her with her arms holding her chest, leaning back on the counter. "I know, Punzie. I'm just...easily embarrassed."
Rapunzel gave her a gentle smile with a reassuring squeeze in a side hug. The pot finished shortly after and Elsa poured a cup for her and Rapunzel. They clinked mugs and sipped leisurely, enjoying the calm morning.
The next up was surprisedly Anna, if you could really call her awake. She trudged into the kitchen, ignoring her sister and friend as she headed straight for the freshly brewed pot. Elsa and Rapunzel watched amused as she zombie walked around the kitchen, searching for the cream and sugar. Anna finally noticed the two and landed her eyes on Elsa. After staring for a long pause, she finally spoke.
"That's not your shirt." She pointed out blandly.
Elsa snorted. "Ever so observant. Really Anna, you should be a detective. The next Sherlock Holmes."
Anna stuck her tongue out childishly. "Meanie." She grumbled as she sat down nursing her mug of caffeine.
Rapunzel and Elsa snickered together. They grabbed their drinks and sat down with Anna. Next up was Gregor. He entered the room much differently than the last two girls. He strode in more awake, but still a little bit of sleep in him. He grabbed himself a mug and poured in the caffeine. He noticed the pot was starting to get low so grabbed the grinds and started to prep a new one for when Kristoff and Eugene finally awoke.
He joined the women at the table. "Morning, ladies." He greeted cheerfully.
A round of greetings echoed. Gregor lifted his mug and faced Elsa. "Sweetie, have you seen my-" He stopped short when he caught sight of what she was wearing. "Oh, found it."
Elsa smiled sheepishly. "Sorry, I was cold. You want it back?"
Gregor snaked his arm around her back and rested his hand on her waist, pulling her close. He placed a kiss on her forehead. "Nah, it's fine. I was just wondering where it went. Looks good on you." Elsa blushed, seeing out of the corner of her eye her sister and Rapunzel smirking into their cups.
He took a nice gulp of his coffee, the steaming hotness not seeming to bother him a bit. The girls stared wide-eyed for a moment, Elsa being the only one he noticed.
"What?"
"You just drank that as if it wasn't burning hot liquid."
Gregor shrugged. "Coffee's only good served hot."
Rapunzel finished up her beverage and then started on breakfast. Elsa offered to help and soon the smell of bacon, pancakes, and eggs wafted through the house. Kristoff and Eugene finally emerged, both commenting on how they were starving. Their girlfriends rolled their eyes expectantly. Eugene offered to do the dishes, catching Elsa and Anna before they could get ready for the day. He kept them in the kitchen for a small talk which ended in the sisters grinning ear to ear.
The girls decided for a day on the boardwalk, wanting to check out the shops, while the guys opted for the beach. After enjoying themselves last night at the party, they decided to visit the pier during the day. The second the men heard the word "shop", they bolted for the ocean.
"Ooooh, Elsa look at this sundress!" Anna pulled her sister and friend over to a store window that displayed a lilac colored dress that would end at the ankles. It was decorated with light flower patterns, with the neck a halter top.
Elsa hummed while examining it. "It's very pretty. That color would look great on you, Punze."
"You think?" She asked with interest.
"Definitely!" Anna chimed with excitement. "Come on, Punzie, go try it on."
Anna pushed the brunette into the store and straight to the changing room. Rapunzel emerged in the dress, a big smile on her face. It flowed down to her ankles, not too long so that she could trip. It clung along her body, accenting her curves tastefully. The halter rested around her neck, tight, but comforting. To say the least, she looked beautiful.
"Whatcha think?" She asked expectantly.
"I love it!" Anna squealed. "You should buy it!"
"I agree." Elsa said with a bright smile. "It looks amazing on you."
Next thing she knew, Rapunzel was walking out with a bag, the elegant sundress wrapped neatly inside.
"You guys wanna get fried dough? Oooh, how about some salt water taffy?"
Elsa took a quick glance at her watch and shared a small, knowing smile with Anna. "Actually, we should head back."
Rapunzel pouted. "Awww, why? We haven't even gotten to try that pizza place everyone's talking about."
"We will, Punzie. Promise. I just think we should check in with the guys. Make sure none of them got their head stuck in a hole or something." Anna joked.
Rapunzel giggled at the thought as the girls changed course and headed back to the beach. They stopped at the location mark, directly across from an arcade, and looked around for their boys.
"Found them!" Anna chirped. She was pointing straight ahead and soon Elsa and Rapunzel saw them too. Eugene was on Kristoff's back, the two chasing after Gregor. As the girls got closer, they were able to hear their little game.
"Onward, my steed! For we shall vanquish the beast!" Eugene roared with authority.
"Aye, sir! Chaaaaarge!" Kristoff stampeded after Gregor.
He laughed wholeheartedly, positioning his arm and hand as if he were holding a sword. "Back, foul knights! En garde!"
They then engaged in fake sword play, not even noticing they were being watched.
The three girls stood there, staring. Anna was muffling her laughs while Rapunzel and Elsa looked on with a mixture of amusement and bewilderment.
"Els?" Rapunzel spoke up.
"Yeah?"
"Are we dating children?"
Gregor's "sword" stabbed Eugene, causing him to over-dramatically fall off his steed. Elsa sighed. "It would appear so."
Eugene landed on his back. "This, is the story of the day my life ended." He croaked before closing his eyes and sticking out his tongue.
Rapunzel burst out laughing, alerting the guys they were there. Realizing they were being watched this entire time caused them to freeze in their tracks.
"Woe is me." Rapunzel joined in. "For my love has fallen." She turned to the blonde on her right. "Madam Elsa, would you care to find me a new one?"
Elsa snorted. Eugene shot up. "Hey!" He whined childishly. "That's not nice."
Rapunzel giggled and walked up to him, planting a kiss on his cheek. "Better?"
"A little." He grumbled.
Anna smirked at the guys. "Miss us?" She directed her gaze at Kristoff.
He sauntered up, placing his hand on her waist in a side hug. "Of course."
Elsa made eye contact with Eugene and he gave her a discreet nod. Elsa returned it with a smile.
"Hey guys, think you could let me and Rapunzel catch up with you?"
Gregor and Kristoff stood next to their girlfriends. "Sure." Gregor said. "Meet you guys at the arcade?"
"Sounds good." Eugene took his girlfriend's hand and led them down the shoreline.
"Where are we going?" She asked as they walked further away. Eugene's only answer was a smile and a chaste kiss.
