CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
"I'm going after them." Andrea said before standing up from the couch. "Don't, they can be anywhere." Lori says before biting on her thumb nail again. "Plus that gunshot could've drawn walkers, we need you here." Charlie tells Andrea from his place besides Kailee and Warren.
"If they ain't back in ten minutes we will go then." Eva said as she rocks Hayden side to side on her hip. Andrea agrees and sits back down and Eva pats Lori's arm lightly getting the woman to stop biting her nails before it can start bleeding.
All of them get quiet when they hear the back door opening and closing and Daryl and Glenn walk into the room. Eva can't help but sigh in relief when she sees his face, she has really started to like the redneck.
"Rick and Shane ain't back?" Daryl asks and she and Lori both say no at the same time. "We heard a shot." He says looking around the room at them, his eyes settling on hers.
"Maybe they found Randall." Lori says but Daryl shakes his head. "We found him." He says and Eva doesn't not like the looks in his eyes. "Is he back in the shed?" Patricia asks and he shakes his head again before telling them that he was a walker.
"Did you find the walker that bit him?" Hershel asks as Eva rubs Hayden back, he is starting to get scared again. "No the weird thing is he wasn't bit." Glenn tells them and Eva's hand stills and she turns to face Daryl and Glenn fully, how is that possible.
"His neck was broke." Daryl tells them but Eva is only thinking about how his could have turned without getting bit. "The thing is that Shane's and Randall's tracks are right on top of each other. And Shane ain't a tracker, so he didn't come up behind him, no they were together." Daryl tells them and Eva closes her eyes she knows exactly what that means and now Rick is out there with him alone.
"Would you please get back out there and find Rick and Shane and find out what on earth is going on?" Lori asks as she walks over to Daryl and Glenn. Daryl looks over at her and Eva nods her head and he tells Lori he will and he and Glenn go to leave the house, Andrea going with them.
Glenn quickly comes running back into the house and she knew from the scared look on his face what is waiting for them outside. While Maggie, Hershel and Jimmy go outside with Glenn, Eva quickly turns to the others. "Lori go and get Carl, Carol stay here with the kids, Charlie, T-dog go and get Dale out to the bus, let's move people." Eva said as she hands Hayden over to Mel before helping the kids put on their bag packs.
When Charlie and T-dog come back to the living room with Dale in-between them she quickly gets them and the kids into a line. She pulls out her gun and grabs two more of their bags before walking out the door, the others quickly following her.
When she gets outside she sees the hundreds of walkers that are now reaching the barn they have maybe two and half minutes before they reach the house.
She scans the area around the bus before jerking her head to the others and they quickly make their way down the steps and over to her. She watches the walkers as they get Dale up into the bus closely followed by the kids. She hands the bags to Charlie before telling him to shut and lock the bus before turning and running back to the porch.
"Carl's gone!" Lori pants as she runs out of the house and Eva curses in her head now are not the time for that boy to be wondering off. "He's not upstairs... I can't find him anywhere." Lori said and she starts crying, and then she and Carol quickly run back into the house to look for him again.
Andrea then comes back outside and starts passing out guns to everyone and Andrea hands over another handgun to Eva. "No point they have the numbers." Daryl says and Hershel cocks his shot gun and tells them that we can go if we want to. "You gonna take them all on?" Daryl asks him before looking over to Eva and she looks up at him, trying not to show the panic that she is feeling.
"Kill as many as we can, then we can use the cars to draw the rest of them off the farm." Andrea says and Eva rolls her eyes. "You serious?" Daryl asks her and he nods. "This is my farm, I'll die here." Hershel says and he turns back to hundred or so walkers that are coming towards them.
"You will have your daughters torn apart over a piece of land?" Eva asks which makes Hershel and the others look over to her. "Those walkers are not going to leave with all the cattle and the gunfire here. You stay here you are going to be ripped apart." She snaps angrily before turning around and quickly going back into the house to help Patricia and Beth pack up their bags into her truck.
While Beth and Patricia toss her the bags from over the railing she is throwing the bags in the bed of her truck. She half listens to the others talk about how they need to keep the walkers away from the house until they are done before leaving.
When Beth hands her the last box she quickly goes back into the house and Eva shoves the box into the bed and slams the cover closed. She watches as Daryl climbs on his bike and starts it up, he looks over to her as he revs the engine before taking off after the RV, the blue truck and the green car.
She shakes her head before quickly running back inside to get Patricia, Beth, Lori and Carol, they need to leave now. She grabs Beth's hand and yells that they need to go and Patricia tells her that she just has one more bag and runs off down the hall and Eva takes Beth with her back outside.
"I checked the shed I can't find him anywhere." Lori said as she comes running up the porch steps. "He's not in the attic or cellar." Carol tells her and Eva can see Lori is starting to real panic. "Ok if he followed his daddy he went that way." Lori said pointing towards the barn.
"We can't stay here!" Carol says grabbing Lori's arm so she won't take off running. "But that's my boy!" Lori cries and Carol shakes her head. "You are going to have to trust, if we find him he will need his mother." Carol tells her and Lori nods her head before turning and screaming Carl's name over the porch railing and Carol runs into the house to get Patricia so they can leave.
Eva drags Beth as she runs over to Lori and grabs her arm and starts to pull her away, Lori follows and quickly bends down and grabs the bag that has the rest of the guns before following after Eva.
Eva quickly opens the back door of her truck and helps Beth climb into the back. She shuts the door and yells for Charlie to start the bus before turning back when she hears Lori yelling at Hershel and she sees her trying to tug the man away but he just ignoring her.
Eva runs to them and drags Lori away by her waist and drags her back to the truck, she has Lori and Beth to think about first, if he wants to die then so be it. "Eva the guns, I dropped the guns!" Lori yells as they run back to the truck. "They are just guns Lori, now get in the fucking truck." She yells as she opens the back door so she can sit with Beth.
Eva runs to the driver's door and she goes to get in but she stops when she sees Carol and Patricia running out from the back of the house. "Carol! Patricia!" She screams while shooting the walkers that are getting close to them.
They start to run to her but are cut off as walkers cut in front of them and in one second a walker bites down on Patricia's neck and drags her to the ground. She shoots a few of them before yelling for T-dog to get Carol and he drives off, running over a few so he can get to her.
She quickly jumps behind the wheel and starts her up before driving off after the bus, leaving the farm behind. "What should we do, where would Rick go?" Eva asks Lori who is crying in the back as she holds a distraught Beth.
"The... the highway. He would go to the highway, where we lost Sophia." She says and Eva nods before speeding off to catch up with the bus. It doesn't take her long too reach the bus and she has Charlie follow after her as Lori tells her the direction to the spot on the highway.
They have to take the longer way seeing as how maybe forty walkers are blocking one of the streets and she doesn't want to run them over and risk damaging the truck and bus.
When Eva turns down another street she sees taillights up ahead and a part of her starts to panic and she has Lori and Beth get down just in case and she holds her gun up to the windshield. As she gets closer she sees a very welcomed sight.
"Oh my god its Maggie, Glenn and Daryl!" She all but screams and Lori and Beth quickly sit up and Beth starts crying when she sees her sister standing there with Glenn and Daryl.
She quickly pulls up to them and Beth has her door open before Eva can fully stop and she quickly runs and meets her sister halfway. She and Lori quickly get out of the truck and she holds her hand up to Charlie telling him to stay put, they ain't staying here for too long.

After finding Glenn and Maggie, they stand there talking over what they should do next. Daryl tells them they should check the highway first before making any other plans. They both agree with him and they start to get ready to leave when they hear two vehicles coming towards them.
They quickly take out their guns and Daryl sighs in relief when he sees Eva's truck and the bus coming towards them, their high beams making him look away.
He watches as Beth and Maggie run towards each other and Lori and Glenn hugging each other before turning his attention to Eva who is walking right pass them and over to him.
He feels like his heart is gonna burst out of his chest when she doesn't hesitate to grab his face and bring him down closer to her, as she stands on her tippy toes and she brings her lips to his.
He grabs her around her waist and pulls her closer to him and he kisses her back just as fiercely. He has wanted to taste her lips since she first jumped out of her truck the day she brought back Sophia.
He reluctantly lets her back down to feet and they stand their panting softly, finally remembering that they need to breath. He quickly looks over and sees that the others are politely giving them their moment.
He looks back down at her to see that she is just looking up at him. She stands up on her toes again and he brings down his head, meeting her half way. Man, he doesn't think he can get enough of her.
"We shouldn't... stay here... much... longer." She mumbles in-between kissing him and he nods his head before kissing her once more.
"We should go to the highway, that's where Rick would go." He says as he looks from her eyes and down to her slightly swollen lips, wanting nothing more than to kiss her again.
She slowly lets him go and she takes a step back before turning to the others and she tells them that they should go. She turns back to him and gives him a smile before walking away with Lori to get back in her truck.
He throws his leg over his bike and starts her up when he hears the green car, the bus and Eva's truck starting up. They follow after him as he makes his way towards the highway and even though they lost the farm, he can't get the small smile off of his face as he feels the ghost of her lips against his.
They all stop a second time when they come across the blue truck, with a panicking T-dog and Carol, seeing as the truck broke down from all the walkers T-dog hit earlier.
TWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWD
Eva sits there in the bus by Carol and Sophia, as she holds Warren, while watching a sleeping Hayden in his bed across from them. She is letting T-dog drive her truck after she had him promise not to run over any walkers.
She watches Carol as she starts to get Sophia to calm down, she had a panic attack when the bus drove off the farm without Carol. Everyone else is fine and Dale is fast asleep on the bed in the back of the bus.
The only ones who are missing are Rick, Carl, Shane and Hershel, they lost Jimmy when the RV was overrun and no one saw what happened to Andrea after she went down after she saved Patricia and Carol and they lost Patricia when walkers swarmed her and Carol.
After feeding and changing Warren, Eva places him down in his crib that is bolted down and secure, near Hayden's small bed, which is just two seats facing each other. She walks back to the front of the bus and she sits down on the futon next to Carol and Sophia, trying to sort out her thoughts from this very hectic day.
They lost yet another home and they have people missing and Eva doesn't know what will happen if they get to the highway and Rick, Carl and Hershel are not there.
These thoughts then went to Shane who Eva doesn't feel safe with being around her kids and Charlie and the others. He killed Randall, yes they were going to do it, but he snuck the kid out and then lied to everyone.
She hopes Rick is safe and figured it out because if Shane is there and Rick is not she will tell everyone and they can sort out if they should kill him or leave without him.
Eva shakes her head, throwing the dark thoughts away, and she thinks about the man on the motorcycle that she can hear rumbling up ahead. She didn't know what came over her but when she saw that he was safe, she just couldn't help herself. She feels a small smile gracing her face when she remembers his lips and his scruffy beard and his arms as they held her tight against him.
Eva just hopes that she didn't overstep too far over bounds, she knows that he is not one to like being touched. But he kissed her back that has to mean something, even if it's just a little. Eva then closes her eyes, trying to get some rest as they drive to the highway.

"Ok, come, come, come." Rick whispers softly to Carl and Hershel as he watches the walker stumble pass them. They stop at the back of the truck and he looks through the windows and watches the walker stumble away before turning around to face his son and Hershel.
"I don't know how much longer we can stay here." Hershel whispers and Rick nods his head that was the fourth walker to stumble pass them.
"I'm not leaving without mom." Carl says and Rick looks up to Hershel. "So we're just going to walk away. Not knowing if my wife, your girls are still out there? How do we live with that?" He asks Hershel, trying to get the man to think about staying, just for a few more minutes at least.
"You've only one concern now... just one... keeping him alive." Hershel whispers as he looks from him and down to Carl. Rick has to look away from the man, Rick knows what he is saying is right, but he can't leave without knowing. But when he looks down at Carl he knows they have to leave, the highway is not safe.
"Carl... It's not safe here." He says as he kneels down before his son hating himself when Carl starts to tear up. "I'm sorry. We'll..." He stops talking when he hears the unmistakable sounds of Daryl's bike and the bus driving towards them.
Rick stands up and watches as Daryl drives up followed by the green car, Eva's truck and the bus. He turns back and smiles at Hershel who smiles back and they quickly jog over to where the others are pulling up.
Rick shakes Daryl's hand before looking over to the truck and he sees Lori jumping out and the pain in his chest lessens. Lori runs over to them and falls to her knees and pulls Carl into her arms.
Rick gets on his knees and pulls them both to him, kissing Lori on her check before kissing her lips, so afraid he would have never got to do that again, just moments before.
Rick stands up and looks around to see Hershel holding Maggie and Beth before looking around to see Glenn, T-dog, Carol, Eva and Charlie standing around. "Where did you find everyone?" He asks looking back to Daryl, who is standing next to Eva.
"Well, saw these guys' taillights zigzagging all over the road... figured he had to be Asian, driving like that. Eva and Charlie found us soon after and found T-dog and Carol broken down a little after that." Daryl tells him and Rick nods his head smiling to Lori who is still on her knees holding Carl.
"Where's Andrea?" Rick asks not seeing her anywhere. "She saved me, and then I lost her." Carol tells him choking up some. "We saw her go down." T-dog says while he leans against Eva's truck and Rick shakes his head. "And Shane?" Lori asks after she stands up but he shakes his head, his hands shake when the images flash before his eyes.
"We got to keep moving. There have been walkers crawling all over here." Rick tells everyone when he sees the walker with the checkered sweater coming back towards them.
"I say head east." T-dog says and Rick nods his head, east is better than here. "Stay off the main roads. The bigger the road, the more walkers, more assholes like this one, I got him." Daryl says to them as he grabs his crossbow off of his bike and takes aim.
Rick watches the walker fall to ground before looking around at everyone. He tells them that they will drive until it starts to get dark, hopefully they find a place to sleep, at least for the night.
Rick watches as Maggie and Beth climb in the back seat of the green car, soon followed by Glenn and Hershel. He watches as Carol and Eva grab Sophia and the boys and take them to her truck. He then watches as Carol and Eva pack up the supplies that they had left for Sophia on the car before climbing into the truck.
Rick helps Lori and Carl into the back seat of the red truck before climbing behind the wheel, T-dog sitting next to him with a map Eva just gave him, so they can try and find someplace to stay for the night.
Rick takes off first in the lead following T-dogs instructions, as Daryl, Glenn, Eva and Charlie follow after him. He looks in the review mirror and he catches Lori eyes and she smiles at him before turning back to whisper soothing words to Carl.
They have been driving for a few hours now, driving further and further into the country, away from any major cities or big towns, low population means fewer walkers.
While driving down another long backwoods road the group comes up on a five car pileup that is blocking the road and with the sun starting to set, it's just another thing to add to the shit pile.
Rick shakes his head and hits the steering wheel. "Damn." He says before turning of the engine. "What's wrong?" Lori asks from the back seat with a tired Carl leaning against her.
"It's another blocked road but this one doesn't have as many cars, so we should just move them and maybe stay here for the night, don't want to keep driving in the dark." Rick tells her and T-dog and they both nod their heads.
"Yeah, no driving in the dark, we might hit something, with all the trash lying around, last thing we need is flat tires." T-Dog points to the car and motorcycle in front of them and the bus and truck behind them.
All the engines stop and everyone slowly gets out of the cars and Rick sees Eva and Carol taking the boys and Sophia to the bus where it's safer.
Rick makes his way to Daryl and tells him and the others that are gathering around him that they will just move the cars out of the way, he doesn't want to waste more gas trying to find another road.
"It's getting dark so let's move the cars and then settle down for the night, we all can use some rest." Rick says while pointing to the car pileup. "Spend the night here?" Carol asks as she holds her arms around herself and rubs her arms trying to them warmed up.
Carl shivers and looks up at him and tells him that he is freezing. "We'll build a fire, yeah?" Rick says as he takes off his jacket and he hands it to Lori so she can help Carl into his coat.
"We should spilt up, some get fire wood, some start on moving the cars and the rest watching our backs." Eva says looking from him to Daryl and Rick nods his head.
"Charlie go with Maggie and T-dog to get some fire wood, stay close." He tells them and they split from the group and walk into the woods. "Hershel can you go and check on Dale and sit with the kids?" He asks and Hershel nods and walks over to the bus and he closes the bus doors behind him.
"Ok Glenn, Daryl, Eva you help me move the cars, Lori and Carol, go through the cars after we move them. And I need you guys to watch in each direction to make sure nothing sneaks up on us." Rick says as he looks to Carl, Sophia, Beth, Mel and Kailee. They all nod their heads and Eva tells Mel to go climb up on the bus to get a better vantage point and the girl quickly runs off to do her job.
He turns his head to the others and motions to the cars and they all start pushing the cars and trucks out of the way. Rick looks over to see Lori and Carol going through one of the cars they just pushed to the side of the road and down the small ditch. He doesn't know how he is going to tell her about Shane and what Carl did... oh Carl.
TWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWDTWD
"All right, we have found some more gas and some supplies," Rick started. "For now we'll set up a perimeter. In the morning, we'll keep pushing on." Rick tells them as everyone gathers back around after doing their jobs.
"I know right now it looks bad, but we are together and we've all been through a hell of a lot worse, but at least we found each other." Ricks says crossing his arms as he remembers the thought of never seeing his family again as they waited at the highway.
"I wasn't sure... I really wasn't... but we did. We're together." Rick tells the group and Eva smiles to him before looking over to Daryl they will have to talk about the kiss but for now she can wait.
"We'll find shelter somewhere. There's gotta be a place. Some places we can hole up, that we fortify, hunker down, pull ourselves together and build a life for each other. I know it's out there. We just have to find it." Rick says before rubbing his face and looking around their group.
"Even if we do find a place and we think it's safe, we can never be sure. For how long? Look what happened with the farm. We fooled ourselves into thinking that that was safe." Maggie spoke up and Hershel looks down to her and pulls Beth a little closer to him. "We won't make that mistake again." He says while lightly rubbing Maggie's arm.
"We can't stay in one place until it gets so bad again, when we find a place we should just stay a few days or weeks and then leave. We should also have a meet up place each time we get somewhere just in case we get spilt up again." Eva says as she leans against one the green car with Carol.
"Yeah that is a great idea, we also need to make sure that each vehicle gets a map soon." Daryl tells them while adjusting the strap of his crossbow.
"That's good, yeah... but let's worry about all that tomorrow. We'll make camp tonight over there, get on the road at the break of day." Rick said as he looks around for a safe place to rest for the night. Eva looks to where he is looking and sees him pointing to the small clearing on the other side of the street.
"Yeah let's get a fire started to cook up some food before it gets dark, don't want the fire to draw unwanted attention." Charlie says while pulling Kailee and Mel closer to his sides.
"What if walkers come through or another group like Randall's?" Beth asks from her father's arms and everyone turns to Rick but Eva cuts in seeing the exhausted look in Rick eyes.
"There is enough room in the cars and the bus for everyone, if that happens we just drive away." She says and sees that it helps relieve some of the weight on everyone's shoulders.
"You know I found Randall, right? He had turned, but he wasn't bit." Daryl suddenly says after a moment of silence. "How's that possible?" Beth asks her voice cracking some from all the tears she has been shedding all day. "Rick, what the hell happened?" Lori asks Rick and Eva can tell that something is wrong, Rick won't look at anyone.
"Shane killed Randall." Daryl cut in. "Just like he always wanted to." He says and everyone looks to Rick silently asking him to tell them what happened. "And then the herd got him?" Lori asks wanting to know how Shane died and then there is a moment of complete silence.
"We're all infected... at the CDC, Jenner told me... Whatever it is, we all carry it." Rick says suddenly and Eva stands up straight and then everyone seems to bombard Rick with questions.
"And you never said anything?" Carol asks before covering her mouth in shock. "Would it have made a difference?" Rick asks her and Glenn glares at him and takes a few steps closer to him. "You knew this whole time?" Glenn snaps at Rick, looking so angry. Rick turns his eyes to Glenn. "How could I have known for sure? You saw how crazy that mother fu..."
"That is not your call." Glenn interrupts him. "Okay, when I found out about the walkers in the barn, I told, for the good of everyone." Glenn says taking a step back to be closer to Maggie. "Well, I thought it best that people didn't know." Rick stares Glenn down before looking at everyone before walking away. Lori lightly pushes Carl over to Carol and follows after him.
"Ok let's get that fire started so we can get some food into every..." Daryl started saying but Carol cuts him off with her voice raised. "How can he lie to us like that, not telling us what Jenner said..." Carol said looking around at everyone.
"It wouldn't have made a difference if he did. So we are infected that wouldn't have change if he told us. And obviously by the way you are acting, that is the reason why he didn't tell anyone. Last thing we need is everyone to panic and turn on each other. So get over it, nothing has changed." Eva snaps at her making Carol shut her mouth and Eva shakes her head and walks off to where the firewood was gathered and she gets started on a fire so they can get dinner done.
Night has fallen and after feeding everyone Eva helps Lori and Carol get the kids all in the bus and comfortable in their beds. Eva smiles to Mel, Kailee and Beth who are still awake and are going to stay and watch the kids and Dale with Charlie.
Eva shuts the gate before leaving the bus and she slides the bi-fold bus door shut. Eva leans against the bus and leans her head back and she looks up at the stars. She admits to herself that the stars are more beautiful, now that all the lights from the cities and towns are gone, it's one of the few good things to come from all this shit.
Crickets chirp as Eva walks to the others and stands a few feet from the fire with T-Dog nearby and she starts her watch. Eva can feel the chill in the night air seeing as winter is approaching fast.
They will have to find more winter clothes especially for the kids and Lori, they don't need anyone getting sick on top of everything else.
"What was that?" Carol asks being freighted by the leaves rustling and sticks snapping somewhere off in the distance. "Could be anything." Daryl answered as he stands with his crossbow at the ready. "Could be a raccoon or a 'possum."
Glenn stands up as well. "Or walker." He says what everyone is thinking. Carol rises from the ground. "We need to leave. I mean what are we waiting for?" She says her voice getting a bit louder which makes Eva turn around and shush her if it is a walker they don't need her drawing them closer because she can't seem to whisper.
"The last thing we need is for everyone to be running off in the dark. No one's traveling at night unless we have to." Rick says from where he is leaning against a tree that is nearby Lori and Carl.
Another branch breaks, this one closer to them and everyone jumps and Eva points her gun towards the sound and starts to scan the area. "Don't panic." Hershel whispers to everyone as he holds on to Maggie's arm. "I'm not... I'm not sitting here, waiting for another herd to blow through." Maggie speaks up and she turns to Rick. "We need to move, now."
"No one is going anywhere." Rick says while granting his teeth slightly and Carol takes a step towards him glaring at him. "Do something." Carol snaps before crossing her arms. "I am doing something!" Rick hisses at Carol, the stress starting to weigh him down. "I'm keeping this group together, alive. I've been doing that all along, no matter what. I didn't ask for this." He growls out which makes Carol sit back down next to Hershel.
"I killed my best friend for you people, for Christ's sake!" He yells quietly and everyone turns to him, wide eyed and confused. "You saw what he was like, how he pushed me, how he compromised us, how he threatened us. He staged the whole Randall thing, led me out to put a bullet in my back. He gave me no choice. He was my friend, but he came after me." Rick explains and Carl starts to cry into his mother's chest.
"My hands are clean. Maybe you people are better off without me. Go ahead. I say there's a place for us, but maybe... maybe it's just another pipe dream. Maybe... maybe I'm fooling myself again. Why don't you... Why don't you go and find out yourself? Send me a postcard. Go on, there's the door. You can do better? Let's see how far you get." Rick growls out angrily and everyone looks at him and no one says anything just taking in what Rick just told them.
"No takers? Fine. But get one thing straight... you're staying. This isn't a democracy anymore." He stares down at the group, but no one moves from their spot. They just stare to their leader and everyone quickly finishes their dinner and Eva and Maggie get the other women, Carl and Hershel in to the cars so they can get some much needed sleep.
Glenn comes walking over to her and Maggie while they pass the extra blankets and pillows to Lori and Carl, who are making a bed in the back of the red truck.
"Maggie, go and get some sleep, we have enough people for watch...please." Glenn whispers to Maggie and after shaking her head no a few times she finally agrees when Glenn pleads again.
Eva then hands him the last two blankets that she was holding and watches as he walks her over to the green car where Hershel is sleeping.
Eva turns back and asks Lori if she needs anything more but Lori just shakes her head and lies down next to an already sleeping Carl. Eva then shuts the door and walks over to the bus where Charlie is going through the storage trying to find the bag that has the night vision goggles in them.
She helps him search and after a few minutes they find the bag and Eva grabs the two goggles and while Charlie is packing back up the bags they took out Eva takes one of the goggles to Glenn and he climbs up on the ladder to sit on top of the bus to start his shift.
Eva slowly walks over to where the small fire is still burning and steps close to Rick and tells him how to turn the goggles on and off before handing it to him. He tells her thanks before turning and he brings the goggles up and starts scanning the trees. "Oh and don't look at any lights with the googles on, it makes the lights flare and it will hurt your eyes." Eva whispers before turning and walking away.
Eva, Daryl, T-dog, Glenn and Rick spend the rest of the night taking shifts, walking around all the cars and on top of the bus and taking small naps.
Eva smiles softly as she wakes Daryl up from his nap so they can switch places. "You comfortable?" Daryl asks her as she climbs in the back seat of her truck, where they have been taking turns sleeping.
"Yeah, just come and get me in two hours, Rick won't and he needs his sleep too." She says as she covers herself up in a blanket feeling the chill leave her as she takes in the warmth from Daryl's body heat that warmed the seat and blanket.
"Ok two hours." Daryl says before patting her leg lightly before shutting the door to go start his watch. Eva sighs and stretches out, feeling her sore and aching muscles finialy starting to relax. It doesn't take her long to fall to sleep, all the worry and panic from what happened at the farm has drained her and everyone else.
Two hours go by quickly and when Daryl comes to wake her, a part of her just wants to cry because of how tired she is. But Eva sucks it up and climbs out of the truck and she leans against the truck rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
A small part of her prays that they find someplace that is safe, so they can all get the rest they need and live happily but the other part of her the bigger part knows that is not going to happen for a long, long time.
After grabbing the goggles from Rick's hand forcefully before grabbing his arm and pretty much dragging him to her truck so he can get some sleep. Eva re-adjust her gun and knife holsters before making her way back and forth, back and forth, walking along the cars to make sure no walkers or people get close to the others.
Not before long the sun slowly starts to rise up over the trees lighting the sky up in beautiful blues and pinks. At least they are together and alive for another day, which is a blessing on all its own.
