(Marissa's POV)
I was sitting next to a tied up agent in Catherine's dining room. He was tall with tan skinned and heavy five o'clock shadow. Cath had called and said it was urgent and that I should come to her house as soon as I could.
The man was sitting quietly staring daggers at Catherine as she held a gun on him when I entered 20 minutes later.
"Who is this?" The man asked.
"This is Marissa McGarrett. She is Doris's daughter-in- law." Catherine introduced.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"This is agent Chris Channing. I used him to get more Intel on Mangosta." Catherine replied.
"Great. Tell me what you know?" I said looking in his direction.
"You don't wait around do you?" Chris answered.
"No, so please whatever you have I need to know now." I shot back.
"Mangosta is a Colombian assassin that Doris was supposed to take out 37 years ago." He fired back
"So wait she didn't kill him?" Catherine asked.
"Everyone thought she did. Then a man believed to be Mangosta resurfaced. The intelligence community hasn't been able to confirm that yet." Channing started.
"So you think he is back to find her?" I asked.
"All this time she has been in Japan she has been out of radar. Now that she is resurfaced there have been rumors of him being on the island. Why else would he be here?" Channing reasoned.
"Now would be a good time to bring in Steve" I said.
"No you want to catch Mangosta you have to do it by surprising him. Do you want to protect you husbands mother or not?" Channing questioned raising his voice for emphasis.
"What do we have to do?" I asked casting Catherine a look of approval.
(Steve's Pov)
Marissa was at home dealing with a sick Lily. Lily had came crying in our bed at 4 am grabbing her ear and only want to be held by me. While Marissa stayed home to take care of her the team and I were dealing with a psychotherapist/ killer that was proving to be a serious pain in my ass.
Dr. Olivia Victor was one smug woman who was trying to get under my skin. And with every way she twisted this case into her benefit she was doing just that. She had killed a patient and had everyone believing that she was just a concerned doctor.
After talking to the victim's wife she had nothing but good things to say about Dr. Victor. Danny and I were on our way to visit Dr. Victor's office to see if we could get more information on our victim Aiden O' Connell. Chin and Kono had called and informed us that there was a lead on a possible O'Connell's financials and the wife maybe a new possible suspect.
(Marissa's POV)
Catherine untied Chris and we headed back to my house to question Doris. Doris was sitting in the living room when we got back watching the news.
She immediately stood up with a look of concern when she noticed the two guests I brought in.
"Where are Lily and Liam? I asked.
"I just put them both down for a nap. Marissa what's going on?" she asked casting the other members of the room a curious glance.
"I want to talk about Mangosta" I replied.
"You should know that he is alive" Channing started.
"There is no way he is alive. I planted that explosive charge in his room myself." She answered back in disbelief
"Did you actually see his body?" Channing asked.
"No Agent Channing. I didn't stick around for the aftermath of the explosion. But there is no way he survived that" Doris replied sarcastically.
"You did. You used the same tactic to fake your own death. Who is to say Mangosta did use the same tactic?" Catherine cut in.
Channing pulled out a photo of the possible match to Mangosta. Doris said she couldn't id him based on that picture still in denial that he could possibly be alive. Catherine kept arguing with Doris about relooking the photo to possibly make and id.
Lily stood on the stairs crying and clutching her favorite stuffed animal asking for her daddy making all of us to change focus to her. I quickly excused myself to grab her.
"Doris it's no coincidence that he showed up again the same time you did" I argued before picking up Lily and headed back upstairs.
(Steve's POV)
Olivia's assistant was just as hardheaded as she was and wasn't budging on releasing Aiden O'Connor's files. After trying to plead with her and throw in some charm she still refused to hand them over.
"Commander McGarrett, you seem to have an unhealthy attachment to me." Dr. Olivia Victor interrupted.
Danny stood silent next to me for once and let me do the talking.
"Nope just investigating Aiden O'Connell's murder. Don't you want to help us find his killer?" I shot back shifting my attention from the assistant to her.
"Of course I do." She replied with fake sincerity
"Great then you won't mind letting me see his patient files." I answered.
"You and I both know that those files fall under doctor and patient confidentiality. So I can't give them to you." She replied back.
"That rule doesn't apply if the patient is dead." I fired back.
"That's true. Go ahead and give him the files." Olivia authorized to her assistant.
Dr. Olivia Victor was trying to shrink me by throwing in my mother issues that she assumed was now getting in the way of my marriage. Who was she to comment about my problems? Marissa and I were fine and so was our marriage.
Danny finally decided to step in right when Olivia's assistant had said something was wrong with Aiden's file. The files had miraculously disappeared and could not be recovered. Frustrated Danny and left her office and headed to HQ
Danny was trying to shrink me on why Olivia was getting under my skin when Kono showed up with a man. He pretended to have some Intel on Olivia when he served me with a restraining order.
I couldn't help but laugh when I was handed the papers. All this did was fuel my fire to take Olivia Victor down even if I couldn't get within 500 yards of her.
I was tailing Olivia when she caught me telling me where I could find her if I wanted to talk.
I took the bait and was no sitting in front of her in a small deserted café. She was trying to flirt with me to try and throw me off but I could see through her tactic. I noticed a presence behind me when I saw officer Duke walk up to the table. Olivia's persona changed from flirty to someone one who was vulnerable and scared for her life.
Duke let Olivia go as she threw me a smirk as she made her exit. Duke gave me a warning before escorting me out the café's door. When I went to leave my tires were slashed. I threw my keys inside of the truck in frustration.
I was changing my tire when Danny pulled up. I knew I was in for an earful but he told me there was lead and to get into the car. After talking to another patient of Dr. Victor's we discovered she was using her therapy practice as a front to prostitution.
(Marissa's Pov)
I went to pick up Tyler from school as Cath and Channing discussed some more about Mangosta with Doris.
Catherine and Channing were going to break into his room to do some recon and see if they could really prove if it was Mangosta. I wasn't particularly okay with this idea but Catherine agreed to help and Channing was going to be her back up.
Lily was inconsolable and only wanted Steve. She refused to be held by anyone else besides her daddy and I wasn't able to get a hold of him.
Catherine called an hour later and lets us know that the conformation was made and that Doris needed to be ready to be moved to a secure location. Putting all three kids upstairs watching TV Doris and I stood on high alert.
"I am going to go check the perimeter" Doris said closing the curtains.
"No you will be safer in here" I argued.
"I can't put you and the kids at risk. Steve will never forgive me." Doris replied checking her gun.
"He won't forgive you if something happens to you. So stay put." I replied.
"I am sorry but I am going to protect my family." She answered heading out the back door.
I could hear Liam's wails so I grabbed a bottle and went upstairs to check on him.
I heard someone enter the front door a few minutes later. Catherine and Channing stood in the living room asking for Doris.
"Doris was grabbed" Catherine stated holding up the gun my mother in law was holding a few minutes earlier.
I cursed loudly and came the rest of the way downstairs. I remembered I had planted a tracking device and Doris and accessed the device.
Channing and Catherine left after finding her location.
An hour later Doris walked in with Catherine in tow. Neither woman said anything when they entered. Doris had a few bruises on her face.
"Steve can't know about this" Doris whispered.
"I am sorry but this has got out of hand and your time limit is up. I am telling him what I know. He can help you." I replied going into the kitchen to start dinner.
Steve arrived a little while later as soon as he was in the door Lily was in his arms clutching to him as her life depended on it.
Doris sat quietly at the dining room table drinking a cup of tea when he came in with Liam in the bassinet beside her.
Tyler came in and greeted his father completely unfazed by the tension in the room. Steve hugged him and kissed his forehead.
"Did I miss something?" Steve asked casting a glance at me and his mother adjusting Lily on his shoulder.
"I think the adults need to talk." I replied not taking my eyes off of Doris.
