Her departure affected him greatly. It had been over a decade, but Heatwave still couldn't bring himself to move on. She was keeping him in the dark, and it was slowly killing her. She prioritized Heatwave’s safety but hated that it meant she had to forget him altogether. She couldn't do that. I wouldn't be fair. Not to Heatwave...or their youngling.

Mirage could go back to prison. He doesn't need to become Thundercracker's concubine or share quarters with Starscream and Skywarp as a decorative kept-mech. He doesn't have to do a Primus-damned thing to help the Seekers save the life of their sparkling. He doesn't have to, but he will.
