A/N So sorry, I know it's been ages but am in the middle of exams- probably most of you can sympathise :) Had this written, but couldn't type it up, but here it is anyway!

Harry

His burns had healed up overnight and he was free to go. He felt awful though. Colin Creevey, the Gryffindor he'd shouted at yesterday had been petrified. His camera had been destroyed unfortunately, there was no way of knowing if the kid had taken a picture of his attacker. Harry felt guilty- if he hadn't shouted at him maybe this wouldn't have happened. Draco was waiting for him though, so Harry finished getting dressed and joined Draco to go down for breakfast.

As soon as they entered the Great Hall it went quiet. Harry was completely embarassed and quickly walked over to the Slytherin table. As soon as he sat down people started talking again. Harry heard his name mentioned and caught several people staring at him. Meanwhile Draco sauntered over to the table. Daphne ran over and got a little mushy but Draco pushed her away.

"Wow guys talk about dramatic." Blaise laughed. "I can't believe you left me out."

"Sorry Blaise. Next time we decide to get stuck in the hospital wing of course we'll make sure to send you an invitation." Draco smirked.

Pansy came running over. "Harry! Draco! Are you okay? What happened? Everyone's been talking about you! Harry they're all saying you're the heir of Slytherin!"

They thought that he had petrified that kid?

"I'm not- I didn't- no."

"Don't you trust me?" Pansy pouted.

"Of course I trust you, it just isn't me."

"But you can speak parseltongue, and you survived the killing curse. and..." Harry's face went white.

"Ohmygosh I am soo sorry"

"It's fine. It's really not me."

"Is it you then Draco? Your family's an ancient pureblood family- did Lucius tell you how to open the chamber?"

"No Pansy. You've known me for forever- don't you think you'd know if I was Slytherin's heir? Sorry to ruin your fun though."

"What happened then?"

Harry began animatedly telling the syory, Draco taking over when he got to the part where he passed out.

When they had finished Draco left to go send an owl home, saying he would meet them in potions, the first class of the day. Harry, Blaise and Pansy went back to the dorms to get their stuff.

Draco

He ran down to the gamekeeper's hut, taking care not to be seen. He met Ginny and made sure that she killed all of the roosters- by hand as magic could be traced. He knew he couldn't get caught by her again so this time he made sure to obliviate her then hide. He ran back to the common room, summoning his things and then ran back to potions.

He stopped outside the door, making himself look presentable, and then entered.

"Mr Malfoy. So glad that you could grace us with an appearance. 5 points from Slytherin."

Ugh. He knew Severus had to play his part but did he have to look like he was enjoying it so much?

He sat down, took out his quill, and began copying down notes. Luckily neither Blaise, Pansy or Harry seemed particularly suspicious of his late entrance. They had potions with the Gryffindors and he had to force himself to stop staring at her. As class was finishing he cast a spell at her cauldron causing it to overflow. She had to stay behind to clear it up and Draco cornered her as she left after her friends. He grabbed her and dragged her into the nearest room.

Hermione

Bloody Slytherins. Malfoy thought he could just waltz into class late and Snape was obviously much nicer to the Slytherins than Gryffindors. If she'd been late she would be in detention. But not Draco freaking Malfoy, who was apparently too good for the rules and had dragged her into a broom cupboard.

"What the hell Malfoy?!"

"Hermione listen to me, you have to get out of the castle- the heir of Slytherin- you're not safe here."

Was that a threat? He seemed kind of sincere but what did she know?

"I can look after myself"

He looked troubled. "You can't fight this."

"Is that a threat? I am fed up of you telling me what you think I should do with my life. You obviously hate me so just do me a favour and stay away from me."

She walked out, not letting him get the last word.

She didn't even know what to think anymore. He seemed nice, and then horrible. It was probably just wishful thinking that clouded her mind and he was probably just being mean. People said girls were confusing but she found guys infinitely more complicated. She'd never had close friends, especially not guys, and the few guys she'd talked to always insulted her and called her ugly so was it a surprise she was mistrustful of boys? She tried so hard to fit in but she never did. She read about romances but she guessed she would never have the perfect guy fall in ove with her.

Ugh. Slytherins were known for their deceitfulness- she'd probably never figure out what Draco- Malfoy- was thinking.

"Hey Mione!" Ron called out.

He was an insensitive idiot but he hung around her a lot and it wasn't as if she couldbe picky about friends. If it was up to her she'd ignore everyone and read- books were so uncomplicated- but part of her was desperate for friends so she put up with Ron.

He caught up to her and slung an arm over her shoulders. She awkwardly shrugged it off and they made their way to the next lesson.

Draco

She just wouldn't listen. He wasn't surprised- why should she trust him? He had to stay focused though. The plan was moving smoothly and with luck, he wouldn't have much more to do with it. He knew he had to encourage Harry to find out more, so perhaps it was almost time for him to 'find' the diary.

Meanwhile, it seemed as if suspicion was falling on Harry. Draco didn't know if this was intended but he made a mental note to tell Lucius. He hated being his father's little puppet, organising a trap for his best friend, possibly helping to hurt innocent people. He knew though, that if he didn't do as he was told it wouldn't just be him that was hurt.

He had been walking along a little distractedly when Lockhart came up beside him. Draco groaned inwardly as he found the DADA teacher tiresome.

"Ah Draco, you should be careful walking alone these days!" Draco almost snorted with laughter but managed to contain himself.

"Of course, if I had my way this beast would be slayed before dinner."

"Really, sir? You know what's causing these attacks? And you think you could kill it?

"Of course! I am Gilderoy Lockhart after all. Here we go!" They stopped outside the DADA classroom and Draco reluctantly entered.

A/N again guys, so sorry it took so long to update- as I said, in the middle of exams so bear with me but I'll try and write! :) As always, love you all x
