So this is one of those "Deleted Scenes" that I hinted that I would do. This goes back to A Father's Son (Hint the AFS abbreviation) to when Original Luke was in the past trying to change his family's fate. I felt like we didn't see that much of the bonding between Luke and his mother, and so I decided to do this scene right here. It's short and sweet, but I thought it would be nice to go back to the story that started it all and see a little more. And this wont be the first time either. I'll do some "Deleted Scenes" for The Past Meets the Future eventually as well, just be patient with me. I'll also do some more A Father's Son "Deleted Scenes" as well.

Anyway, Please Review!

Enjoy!

It was one of the few days that Anakin was at the Senate Building to meet with the Chancellor. Luke had offered to stay at the apartment with Padme. He hadn't meditated in quite some time, and he wanted to see if he could possibly get in touch with Qui-Gon to receive some further guidance on what he should do.

A shuffle by the door alerted Luke to the fact that he was not alone, and he looked up to see Padme trying to subtly slide inside. Realizing she had not succeeded in being as stealthy as she would have liked, Padme gave him an apologetic smile.

"I'm sorry, I was trying not to disturb you; I know what a meditating Jedi looks like by now and I knew you'd want some quiet."

Luke gave her a warm smile. "It's fine, I hadn't gotten into any real meditation yet so you didn't disturb me."

Padme nodded. "Yes, well...you're clothes are done; I was just going to put them here on the bed..."

Luke blushed a little. At the moment he was wearing too big borrowed shirt and pants from his father; his own clothes had been in terrible need of a wash, and Padme had managed to wrestle the outfit from him to do just that. "Thank you...I hope it wasn't too much of a problem, especially since..." he trailed off, suddenly feeling very awkward.

Padme laughed, her hands automatically fluttering to rest on her ever-growing belly. "I assure you Luke, it was no problem; 3PO helps with the chores around the house anyway, so you don't need to worry about me too much. I can do some simple laundry," she chuckled, her brown eyes sparkling.

Luke couldn't help but chuckle a little himself. "I'm sorry, I just don't feel comfortable making a lady in your condition do something I could do myself."

Padme waved a hand. "Don't worry about it; it's my pleasure Luke." She gave a little start. "Oh!"

Luke was at her side the very next second, a tender hand on his mother's arm. "Is everything all right?" he asked earnestly, hoping that he could help with whatever was wrong.

Padme laughed, surprising him. "No, no, nothing's wrong; it's just that the baby kicked and it startled me," she explained. She gently took Luke's hand in her own and placed it strategically on her abdomen, applying a little pressure. "See, you can feel the baby moving around in there, especially if he kicks."

Luke couldn't help the lump that formed in his throat and the slight stinging in his eyes as he looked at his mother, startled. "He?"

Padme nodded. "Ani thinks the baby will be a girl; I think it'll be a boy," she said lovingly.

Luke had to stop himself from saying 'You're both right,' and was furthermore distracted by definite kick in Padme's womb. Luke stood in absolute wonder, his hand pressed lightly against the stomach he and his sister were growing inside, captivated.

Padme caught the look on his face, but let him marvel a few moments before she spoke. "Are you okay Luke?" she asked him gently.

Luke jumped a little, blinking owlishly at his mother before her words registered in his mind. "Wha—yeah...yes, I'm fine," he said haltingly. At his mother's disbelieving expression, Luke sighed, letting his hand drop away from her abdomen. "It's just...I just haven't experienced this to any degree before, I mean...I never knew my mother, and I was raised by my aunt and uncle. I kind of missed out on all of this family sort of thing...at least with my parents."

It was so weird talking to his mother about her like this.

Padme gave him a sad yet compassion filled smile, pulling the young Jedi in for a hug. "I know that your parents would be proud of you Luke. You've turned into a very, very fine man. Any parent would be proud to call you their son."

Luke swallowed his tears, smiling against his mother's shoulder. "Thank you...you don't know how much that means to me..."

Padme pulled away, taking a seat on his bed. "Why don't we talk? I feel like even though you've been living here with us we haven't had much time to actually get to know each other."

Luke nodded, taking the seat beside her carefully and with reverence. "I'd like that very much."

Padme smiled at him. "Why don't you tell me about your aunt and uncle?"

Luke smiled. "Sure. My aunt and uncle sort of balanced each other out. My aunt was the soft compassionate one and my uncle was very quiet and gruff..."

And so the conversation ensued. Without their knowledge, Luke and Padme spoke for hours. Padme asked all sorts of details about Luke's life, down to the mundane chores on the farm that he performed and the racing he would do in Beggar's Canyon in his free time. He told her of every one of his childhood friends and as much as he could recall about his aunt and uncle. When he was fresh out of Tatooine stories, she inquired about his sister and friends after he left Tatooine. Of course many minor and major details had to be left out since Luke was still keeping some big secrets from his mother about the future. For example, the fact that the Republic that she loved so much crumbled into the Empire.

Still, he was able to ignore such details and shift the conversation to her. Through his consistant inquirys, Luke learned of the family he might still have on Naboo; his grandparents, cousins, and aunts, all related through Padme. He drank in every detail that Padme gave him over her family, wanting to know all about the relatives he had been unable to connect with due to his lack of knowledge of who his mother way.

Padme and Luke were only deterred from their intense, deep, connecting conversation when Anakin returned from his trip to the Senate Building. Padme looked up in surprise.

"Oh my...is it really that late?" she asked with a laugh as they heard R2's familiar beeps emanating from the vendetta.

"I guess so," Luke mused, standing up.

Padme smiled at him, standing up as well. "It was nice talking to you Luke; I'd love to do this again much more often."

Luke nodded, his throat closing up to the point he couldn't speak for a few moments. "As would I," he finally managed to say.

As he left the room with Padme to go and greet his father, he couldn't help the floating feeling that remained. This moment with his mother was something that he would cherish and hold close to his heart for the rest of his life.

Though he didn't realize it, Luke was aglow for the rest of the day, his good mood infectious to all those around him.
