CHAPTER 1

Prologue

" Arthur "

" no! " I screamed, my voice was already hoarse from the shouting and yelling. I need to help him .. I need to help my brother

" Arthur,, "

" please, stop .. " I grabbed the end of his cloak struggling from the light of electricity that's binding me, it's draining my powers it's absorbing my energy …. I can't ….

" Arthur .. hey .. it's alright "

" I'm sorry … please .. Pat .. I'm sorry.. stop hurting him " I tried harder but each time I struggle it only gets tighter and tighter .. It's tearing my skin and crushing my bones, it hurts .. but I have to save him ….

" it's not your fault "

" no! stop! I beg of you " the cloaked man turn his head looking down on me with a smirk, using his other hand he flicked a finger in front me and before I know it, I was sent flying all the way to the wall.

" aaahhhh! " it hurts .. the light that's binding me was even tighter than before, I can feel some of my bones breaking.

" how does it feel to lie helpless on the ground Arthur? "

" i-I'll kill you … you Bastard "

" ohhh.. how frightening … I'd like to see you do that, however it seems that your brother here is suffering, shall we end his suffering? "

"NO!" my eyes widen from what he said " don't! .. no .. please stop .. "I screamed as loud as I can, I don't care if I tore my vocal chords or rip my throat, it was all I can do …

He grabbed Pat by the neck and pulled him up " Pat! " I screamed again he was covered in blood and all beaten up he was too tired and too weak to fight, he had already fought many ghouls that his body is tired. It was a trap, we were framed.

" Arttie " I looked up to meet his emerald eyes and tears started to flow down my cheeks, his eyes were full of suffering and sorrow " I'm sorry Pat " was the only words that came into me

" don't be, it's not your fault, none of this is your fault " he said to me … that's not true everything's my fault.

" hey, Arthur do you know how to kill a vampire? " the man on the cloaked asked

" no! you wouldn't "

" well it's quite easy"

" no! stop .. Pat! " I struggled as hard as I can trying to get free from the light's that's binding me… I have to ..

" Arttie … thank you "

" you cut its head off "

Before I knew it Pat's body was lying on the ground my mind went blank and my body froze, tears were rolling down my cheeks .. it can't be .. this can't be happening... Pat .. he's ... my body trembled because of fear as well as the anger that surged within me ...

" Arthur! "

" there he is "

Voices, I can hear voices calling for me ..who are they and whom they belong to that didn't matter at that time, how could it when I was staring at my brother lifeless in front of me, he was dead he died trying to save me and it's all my fault after that there were explosions everywhere at the same time yelling. Did another fight started? I don't know I couldn't care less.

" Arthur .. hey Arttie! " I looked up to see the one who was calling me, I found a pair of emerald eyes similar to mine staring at me filled with worry and at the same time anger but I can tell it wasn't directed at me but to someone else. with a flick of his hand the light that was binding me disappeared. i grabbed his shirt and clenched my fist i buried my face on his chest and i can feel him wrapping his arms around me.

" Al … I'm sorry … I couldn't do anything … I – I tried "

" it's not your fault, it's alright "

" but Pat he was … I couldn't .. I'm too weak "

"no your not, don't worry the others are chasing after him, I promise we'll pay him back for what he did so don't give up on me ok? Promise me you won't give up"

" I promise .. I won't "

3 years later –

" ughhh .. so many things to do today " I complained trying to relax my back from doing all the paper works.

" can't be helped, you are the leader of the clans " in front of me stood a man or rather a werewolf with dark brown hair and brown eyes.

" Yao? You need something? "

" no not really, just came here to say that the transfer student just recently arrived but I think that won't interest you "

" it doesn't, although I want to know what clan or race does he belong to? "

" he's a normal human or so they say "

After Yao left, I immediately followed after him going to our class. When I entered the room I can see everyone was making a fuss.

" Arthur! " I turn my head to see who it was calling mej ust to be met with two green eyes staring at me intently

" Elizabeth, need something? " I asked the fae who is now in front of me

" not really, the other students are making a huge fuss about the new human in our school " she answered

" I can see that, I don't think it's such a big deal though I mean we do have humans here and it's not rare if they come here we are their protectors so it's only natural "

" I know, I know, you don't have to explain but still, it's not like a human enrolls here every year something bad must have happened to him "

" which is none of my concern " I answered her

" really now? I thought you said we're their protectors? "

" don't you have any other things to do? "

She giggled before looking at me again " now aren't you a softie deep inside "

" whatever Elizabeth, class will be starting "

" fine .. fine.. so how's the meeting with the demon lord? Did he heed your request? "

" no, in fact he wasn't there it was just a waste of time "

Our conversation was interrupted by the bell, I signaled Elizabeth to continue our conversation later so I sat at my chair hands on the desk with my right hand supporting my head. The door opened and our teacher for the said subject entered. It was Fine arts, the subject doesn't really interest me that much and believe me when you're a vampire that lived for a couple of years you'll eventually learn them even if you don't go to school. I looked out on the window to keep myself occupied while our teacher Mr. Roderich was saying something about a place and their culture.

It's been 50 years since the war between Vampires and ghouls started well to be exact since those ghouls are killing more and more humans as days pass by not only us vampires are having trouble with them but also with other creatures as well that's why the leaders of different races agreed to create an institute that will both protect us and humans against the ghouls and they named it Griffin Institute, originally it was only Institution but they developed it and made it a school and a home for both humans and our kind. My brother Patrick has been the leader for the past 7 years but because of what happened they decided to make me the new one instead, of course I disagreed at first and told them that my brother Allistor should take the place but he object he wanted to hunt down the one who killed our brother that's why he's been gone for three years now still searching for that man the same goes with my two brothers Dylan and Connor, right now while I'm sitting here who knows how many ghouls they are fighting.

Ghouls were once Vampires that's been cursed for eating human flesh, as a vampire we are allowed to drink human blood but we aren't allowed to kill them it's against the rules but there are some who broke them that's why they turn into Ghouls. Consuming a human blood grants us special abilities which makes us powerful, however eating human flesh gives you a different kind of power, a power that no one would dare to imagine.

" alright before I go any further it seems that we have a new student with us today "

I was taken back from my thoughts when Mr. Roderich made the announcement.

" everyone, please I'd like you all to meet Mr. Jones he will be a student here in Griffin from now on, you may come in "

I stared at him from head to foot the moment he entered the room, he had a blond hair with a pair of blue eyes, he was wearing a loose jeans with a fitted white V neck shirt that somehow show's off his built.

" good morning everyone my name is Alfred Jones, nice to meet you " he gave a smile to the class and then to my surprise his eyes were locked on me which made me flinched at the moment. I immediately diverted my gaze to something else avoiding him as much as possible.

" Mr. Jones you can pick any Vacant seat you want "

" thank you sir, although I've already chosen a seat "

I took a quick look at him to see where he decided to sit, not that I care but when I looked at him he was still looking at me. What the bloody hell is his problem. Then he started walking towards me, wait don't tell me he's going to sit beside me.

" hi is this seat taken? Can I sit here? " he asked me

" no, do whatever you want " I answered him trying to sound annoyed.

" oh, then I'll take this seat then " he said still with that smile on his face not wanting to speak to him I just rolled my eyes.

" so what's your name? " he spoke

" Arthur " I answered

" Arthur, that's a nice name it has the quality of a king "

" whatever " hearing my answer made him chuckle

" what? " I hissed at him

" nothing really, I just didn't expect that the new leader of Griffin would be this cute, I thought you'd be more intimidating "

For a moment my face heated up from what he just said, however " Cute? Me? Seriously? Well I'm sorry for not being intimidating as you imagined, it's not like wanted this position " I snapped at him " thank you for your comment which I really don't give a fuck about and if you have nothing more to say you might as well shut up " and with that the bell rang I immediately stuffed my things on my bag and rushed outside the classroom.

" what a jerk, like I asked for his opinion he can just go to hell and die "
