Chapter 11
Tony rushed back out of the control room to where his suit was stored and quickly fixed the faceplate in order to get JARVIS back online and go see what Loki was doing to his baby.
Flying out to the roof, Tony in his suit and Harry, under his invisibility cloak, on his broom, they found Dr. Selvig making the final adjustments in order to bring the tesseract online and the portal open.
"Shut it down, Dr. Selvig." Tony warned, his repulsor charging up.
"It's too late! It can't stop now. He wants to show us something! A new universe!" Selvig exclaimed.
The repulsors, fully charged, fired at the device casing the tesseract. Caught with surprise, Tony was flung back away from the roof, knocked back into Harry and fell down the side of the tower. It took a few seconds for them to regain their bearings and right themselves. Harry quickly righted the invisibility cloak over himself.
They zipped back up to the spinning rims where Tony took of his suit, Harry and Loki both following behind him into the penthouse.
"Please tell me you're going to appeal to my humanity." Loki stated with a raised eyebrow.
"Umm... actually, I'm planning to threaten you. " Tony told him, walking behind the bar. Silently, Harry shook his head at his brother.
"You should have left your armour on for that."
Tony smirked as he slipped his sensor bracelets on. He didn't need his armour to fight or for protection. He had a brother now.
"Yeah. It's seen a bit of mileage. You've got the blue stick of destiny. Wanna drink?"
"Stalling me won't change anything."
"No, no, no! Threatening. No drink? You sure? I'm having one." Looking over his shoulder just for reassurance, he made his around the counter and towards Loki.
"The Chitauri are coming, nothing will change that. What have I to fear?" Loki followed the movements of Stark.
"The Avengers."
Harry took his place behind Tony's right shoulder and muttered "Protego!" He could sense that something was about to happen.
"That's what we call ourselves. Kind of like Earth's mightiest heroes. Let's do a head count here. There's But, let's do a head count here. Your brother, the demi-God; a super soldier, a living legend who kind of lives up to the legend; a man with breath-taking anger management issues; a couple of master assassins, and you, big fella, you've managed to piss off every single one of them." Oh yeah, and a wizard standing right over my shoulder that you have no idea what he can do to you.
"Not a great plan, buddy. Because when they come, and they will come, they will come for you."
Harry watched, unable to do anything, as Tony circled around the bar and moved closer to Loki. He was the one advantage that they had... but that was his brother who was probably about to do something very stupid.
"I have an army." Loki was saying.
"We have a Hulk." Like that was meant to mean anything. They also had a wizard. Who technically wasn't supposed to be revealing his magic to all these people.
"I thought the beast had wondered off."
"You're missing the point. There's no throne, there is no version of this where you come out on top. Maybe your army comes and maybe it's too much for us, but it's all on you. Because if we can't protect the Earth, you can be damned well sure we'll avenge it." And we've got a wizard. Tony imagined sticking his tongue out at Loki at that childish thought.
"How will your friends deal with me if they're so busy fighting you?" Uh-oh. Harry checked that his shield charm was still in place as Loki tapped Tony's arc reactor with his scepter.
"Happens sometime. Performance issues." Tony shrugged, looking indifferent. Doesn't stop him being happy to have more solid proof that his brother was still there. He still wasn't used to him disappearing under that Cloak of his.
"JARVIS? Anytime now!" Loki had grabbed him by the throat and was dragging him to the window.
After years of training and on the battlefield, Harry had managed to control his impulsiveness somewhat. But the time that he had spent with Tony, and the excitement that followed him, some of it had resurfaced. So, he's busy making excuses for the next thing he did.
"Locomotor Mortis."
The spell caught Loki by surprise as his legs locked together and stopped him from being able to push Tony through the window.
"Ahh.. so here is the Sorcerer. I had begun to wonder where they were hiding you." Loki smirked up from his position on the floor. It wouldn't take long for him to figure out how to rid himself of the curse.
"Silencio!"
"Thanks bro!" Tony clapped his brother on the shoulder.
Turning to the nearest camera, he called out to JARVIS.
"How bout that suit, J?"
"I apologise, Sir. It just seemed as though Master Harry had everything under control." The AI's voice sounded sarcastic as the new Ironman prototype suit came flying up the elevator gap.
"Geez J. Thanks." Tony replied as the suit folded itself around the sensory bracelets he had put on earlier.
Making their way to the exist, Tony stopped by Loki.
"There's someone else you pissed off. His name is Phil." The statement was followed by a quick blast at Loki. Together, the brothers made their way out of the place that both had come to see as, somewhat, a home.
They didn't make it very far before their attention was drawn to the sky where a giant hole was forming and alien forms zooming their way into the world.
They could see the quinjet being taken down by a quick blast from Loki's scepter, Banner had still made no reappearance but Hawkeye. Black Widow and Captain America were quickly making their way out of the fallen quinjet.
Quickly separating from one another, Harry quickly made his way towards the trio on the ground knowing that he would be of more help from there.
He smiled at Barton as he saw the quizzical look he was giving him. Seeing the look, Natasha quickly told him who Harry was.
"I don't mean to be impolite, but what can you do?" The Captain asked as he raised his shield in preparation for the inevitable battle.
"Just watch, Cap." Rogers rolled his eyes as the now-familiar nickname was used once more.
As soon as the Chituari made their way towards the four, Harry quickly cast a shield charm in order to minimise the damage. He'd been in enough battles by now to know that injury was almost inevitable. Especially with such a small team no matter how brilliant they are.
"Stark, are you seeing this?" Cap called into his comm.
"Seeing. Still working on believing." He'd been around magic for quite a while now, but that doesn't mean he believes the amount of aliens that were making their way through the open portal.
"Where's Banner? Has he shown up yet?" Tony asked after a second of silence.
"Banner?" Why would he think the Doctor would show up?
"Just keep me posted. JARVIS, find me a soft spot." Tony cut off the link as he was chased by one of the larger Chituari fish. (Can he call it that? Chitauri-fish?)
As soon as he found the weak spot, Tony called up to Harry and told him off it. Zooming down, he grabbed Harry's outstretched hand and flew him to the Chituari.
"Expulso!" Harry shouted and as soon as that was done, the pair were zooming right back down to the ground as the Chituari exploded.
Gazing up at the destruction, Tony whistled through the helmet.
"I really need something like that!"
"You already have enough explosives!"
"It's nothing like that! I'll figure it out."
"Boys!" Natasha called through the comm as they continued their argument while fighting back-to-back.
"What!?" They called back in sync.
"Harry, come back here. Cap's gone after the civilians."
"Copy that!" Harry called as he made his way back to the pair of master assassins just as he saw the Captain take a leap and bound away towards the police.
The fight seemed to go on forever. They'd get rid off one, another few would come at them. Even with Tony blowing everything in his path up and Harry taking several of the Chituari down at the time, they were being overwhelmed.
"What's the story upstairs?" Steve asked as lightning destroyed another group of aliens and Thor made his presence known.
"The powers surrounding the cube are imprenetable." Thor reported in his usual deep, booming voice.
"Thor's right. We needa deal with these guys."
"How!?" The Widow was starting to get a bit desperate by now. They all were.
"As a team." Obviously Captain said that, ever the leader.
"I have unfinished business with Loki."
"Yeah? Well, get in line." Barton replied and got a snort in agreement from both Harry and Tony.
"You two are creepy." Barton allowed a small smile to enter his voice. This was his first time to meet both men, but they both seemed like people he would most likely could become friends with. After he deals with Loki.
Just as their little conversation ended and there was a slight lull in battle, a rumbling was heard and to the surprise of the team (with the exception of Harry), Doctor Banner made his way down the bridge looking dusty but well.
"Hey Tony, Banner's here." Harry passed the message to his elder brother.
"Then tell him to suit up. Oh and Har, I'm bringing the party to you."
Just as the message was received, Harry glanced up to see his brother flying the suit in a zigzag as one of the largest Chituari he had seen yet came chasing after him.
"Errmm... I don't see how that's a party..." Harry's accent seemed more pronounced as he stood glancing wildly at the monster chasing his brother.
I'm still kinda rusty. Hopefully, I won't be gone too long (I got WACE exams in a week or two or something. GOOD LUCK to you out there whose exams are coming up)
Let me know what you think!
Cya soon. Storm :)
