Chapter 14
Hoping that someone down on the ground was closer to his brother to catch him, Harry did the only thing he could think off.
"Arresto Momentum!"
Captain Steve Rogers was still struggling to adapt to the modern world and the many technological advances that came along with it. Being a man out of time and a believer, he still struggled to understand the concept of magic, other worlds and the new sciences that could have been considered myths during the War. No matter how many times anyone tried to explain something to him.
Seeing the descent of his fellow team-mate slow because a mere wooden stick then the lightning engulfing the hammer of Thor, it took all he had to keep his mouth from gaping open.
Sure, he had just been fighting alongside Harry and Thor, and had spent some time with Thor earlier, but he was more preoccupied with the fight than to actually think about planets and magic.
He glanced up and saw the massive form of the Hulk grab Iron Man from his fall, smashing into the side of the building and finally, falling hard onto the floor.
Just as the Hulk threw away the tiny body of Tony away from him, there was a slight "POP!" and suddenly, Harry was running to the other side of his brother's body. Jumping back into action, he ripped off the golden mask and allowed Harry to lean over his brother, listening for any sound of life.
Looking from the other side of Tony, Steve glanced up and caught Harry's eye. The emerald greens were swimming with tears that stubbornly refused to fall behind the black-rimmed glasses.
Waving his wand, Harry muttered a quiet "Ennervate!", hoping that the spell would work as well as it usually does. Praying that they weren't too late.
He blinked. Nope. Too bright. Eyes close. Maybe try again. Eventually he feels his eyes dragging open fully. He was pretty sure that he had been dead. But if there was anything at all that he'd learnt about his brother over the last few months, it was that family meant everything to the Potter and Weasley clans.
He glanced up, sure enough, there was Harry's bright emerald green eyes, shimmering with tears but also grinning up at him.
"Welcome back, bro!" The British accent made the word sound tilted, but Tony liked it. Harry was always so formal.
"Did someone kiss me? Please tell me no one kissed me."
Tony glanced around to see his new found friends roll their eyes at him. Even the Hulk!
They were all cramped up into the still-working elevator as they made their way up to the Stark Tower penthouse.
Silence. Glance around. Awkward.
"Right. Just to put it out there, I'm first in line." Barton broke the silence.
The statement was met with grunts of displeasure (Bruce and Natasha), slight chuckles (Steve) and many eye rolls. But at least the silence was slightly more bearable.
Ping. They were at the penthouse.
Tony and Harry, simultaneously, let out a low groan at the sight that greeted them. They had both become increasingly fond of the area.
Barton stepped in front of the group and led the way to the Loki-sized hole in the ground. The Avengers circled around the defeated Asgardian and waited for him to regain consciousness. Which he did soon after.
Glancing around at the grumpy faces of the heroes, Loki couldn't help himself.
"I'll have that drink now if that's okay with you." He was met with stony silence.
Being the Hulk meant there was no such thing as restraint. And so, this is how Loki of Asgard found himself once again unconscious at the hands of the so-called beast.
Having secured Loki in magically enhanced handcuffs and a magically-induced sleep, the Avengers Assembled around the penthouse.
"Hey, bro," Tony called to Harry, glancing around the destroyed room, "Reckon you can work some magic on this place?"
"Why brother, I think I can." It had become a joke for the two to speak as though they were in old English times.
Pulling out his wand, Harry placed a few reparo's around the room and soon the place was more habitable. As soon as he was done, Tony threw himself onto one of the newly placed couches, with his legs hanging over the side. Nearby, Harry had taken his place perched on a large armchair.
"Make yourselves at home guys." Tony told the rest of the team, gesturing towards the newly repaired room, with extra furniture that Harry had placed.
Thor looked like a happy little boy who was just given candy and made his way towards one of the large armchairs. On the other hand, the remaining party looked slightly hesitant.
"Err…" The Captain stumbled for words to say.
"Oh. Sorry about that. We haven't been properly introduced. I'm Harry Potter, Tony's younger brother." Harry held out his hand for the remainder of the team. Despite having just worked and talked with them, he was not officially part of the team.
Bruce was the first to step forward. If the Hulk hadn't tried to hurt Harry, then he thought it was okay. Plus Tony seemed to enjoy the younger man's company. Clint was next. He had been 'compromised' when Harry had first appeared, but the wizard had done nothing to harm him. Steve stepped forward, Harry had had his back throughout the fight and had proven himself to be trustworthy. And more mature than his elder brother.
Natasha was last as was expected. She didn't trust any of them as much as they seemed to trust one another. With the exception of Clint. She trusted him. She would watch Harry and make sure that he was not hiding anything. They all knew of his magic.
They passed the rest of the night relaxing (they had earned it), eating, drinking, sharing stories and most importantly, playing with magic. By the end of the night, the Avengers were much more relaxed and trusting of the wizard.
It was early the next morning when Thor left with a handcuffed and gagged brother to face Asgardian justice.
Even though it wasn't needed, the whole team, including Harry, headed out with Thor. It had been a morning to remember as each hero planned what they were to do with their new found freedom although they had agreed to Tony's idea of bunking into what had become the Avengers Tower overnight.
Clint and Natasha were going back to SHIELD, (Clint had bribed Tony into loaning him one of his sports cars), Steve was going to 'explore' the city while Bruce and Tony had decided to to play with some toys.
Each group had offered Harry to join them, but the thought of an angry Weasley stopped any plans from actually happening. Which then led to the idea of a surprise for his family.
Meeting the soon-to-be-famous Avengers.
Now, that is a meeting that had to be recorded.
I have no right to ask, but please let me know what you think! I appreciate all the support you guys.
