Chapter 16
Meeting the children was something the Avengers had taken for granted. Now they understood the warning that they had been given.
After Bill and Fleur were introduced with their children, things started to get s bit hectic. Percy came through with his wife, Audrey. What they weren't expecting was the younger looking girl to come through, running to her parents with her hair flashing different colours.
Quickly introducing themselves, Percy headed back the way he had just come.
"Can you please try to keep your children under control!?" They could hear Percy shouting and then a second later, he emerged pulling George by his one working ear.
"Oi! Bloody hell, Perce! I've only got the one ear! Owww!" The loud protest turned into a very feminine squeal as Percy pinched his brother's ear. Since the war, the two of them, with Ron, had grown much closer together.
"Well then, tell your children to mind their manners!"
The exclamation was met by both adults and children.
"But! Uncle Percy! It was dad's idea!" At Fred's shout, George turned to him and mimed being upset. It had become routine. George taking the blame first so that the young Fred Weasley can get away with more pranks without trouble. Not that Angelina approved but they somehow always made it work.
After having just faced aliens of mass destruction, the Avengers were unsure as to how they should be reacting.
Tony was struggling to keep the laughter in, he was having the easiest time. Natasha was bemused, she'd never seen an adult act or be treated in such a way. Clint was having a slightly better time as he understood the merit of the joke more than his partner. Steve was still struggling with the magic in general. His teammates grew up in the world of technology and so they found magic slightly easier to deal with. Now he'd have to understand both technology and magic.
Bruce… well Bruce… didn't know what to think… His scientific brain was trying to understand how in the world that could be possible. Harry's wand could have been functioning on energy, using surrounding energy to produce violent waves. His broom could have had some anti-gravitational steering system… but flashing hair? That was a bit extreme, even for him.
And so, in a typical fashion, the Avengers were introduced to the first half of the George Weasley family. Seeing that her husband was already out, Angeline simply sighed and made her way with Roxanne, who gave her brother a high-five as soon as she saw him from behind her mother's back.
"George, Angelina," Harry said as the room finally calmed down after the laughter had exploded from Tony with everyone else following soon after. "Meet my brother, Tony, and the Avengers."
"Your brother is the Avengers?" George couldn't help picking on Harry.
"George." Ginny called, fingering her wand.
Understanding the threat clearly, read as Bat-Bogey Hex on the way, George quietened and stepped away allowing Ron and Hermione to come through.
"Well, you guys kind of already know us," Hermione spoke, a slight nervousness in her voice. "But these are Rose and Hugo, our children." The parents smiled proudly as they thought about their children and the amazing lives they now have.
Hearing the end of the introductions, the three Potters made their way into the room.
Looking at them, "Where's Teddy?" he asked his children. He had a feeling this might happen. Despite growing up with the Weasley-Potter clan and Andy, Teddy was never sure where his place was even though Harry was his godfather.
"Outside, twiddling his thumbs." James replied just to earn himself a smack on the arms from both Albus and Lily who were both more mature than him. Despite their love of causing chaos at times. When the three decide to team up, it was bad.
Really bad.
Harry and Ginny shared a glance then Harry stepped out of the room to get his godson, leaving her to deal with the three who were now arguing. Mainly Albus and Lily against James.
However, they quickly shut up when they saw the glare that their mother was giving them making the other cousins snigger while the adults, with the exception of George who was sniggering with the children, wish they had the secret power of the Ginny Weasley glare.
All the drama happening and the Avengers had no idea how to respond. All of them with the exception of Thor and Tony it now seemed, were only children. Having siblings was something they didn't know. Thor only had Loki and Tony had only just discovered the other side of the family.
This was strange to them.
They'd never seen so many people, all related being so happy. Thor had only one brother. Imagine if he had another three and all were competing for the throne. He knew that may not have been what would have happened, but it just seemed unlikely that six siblings would still remain close as they appeared to be.
"So…" Steve broke the silence. Maybe trying to understand this new, strange world he woke up in made him more… open to the idea of change. Is that weird? He thought it weird. But the Avengers were a family now and family was important to him. He just gained an extra… he's not sure how many… family members.
"You're the Weasleys we've been hearing about."
Outside, Harry was staring at Teddy. He'd never seen his godson so reluctant to be introduced along with the Weasleys and Potters.
"Teddy?" The question was in his voice.
"Sorry Harry. I'm just not sure. You just found out you have a brother and… I don't know… I guess I just miss my parents or I wish I had known them. I wish they were still here. I know I have you, but you know?" Teddy was struggling to get the words out from behind the ball stuck in his throat. He wasn't sure why he felt this way. Sure, he missed his parents and wished they were still here with him, but he's never had a problem with Harry. Harry was like a father to him and made sure that Teddy and Andy were always looked after in the rare occasion they weren't with the Potters.
"I know, Teddy, I know. I wish they were here too. I wish they were all here too. To see this new family that we now have. But they're always with you, Teddy. They're watching over you right this very second, knowing that you know that they sacrificed their lives so that you can live a safe life. To be who you are without fearing anyone or anything."
"Now go out there, Edward Remus Lupin, and be proud of who you are."
Harry watched with a small smile as his godson made his way into the room, receiving a supportive pat on the arm from Ginny as the younger of the kids ran over to him and started pestering him about showing what he can do to the new extended family.
Clint made his way over to Teddy, watching as his hair was quickly changing colours, lengths and other strange things.
"Is this another prank?" Clint asked as he apprehensively touched the young Lupin's hair expecting it to feel peculiar.
In response to his question, he simply receive wild laughter as the Weasleys made themselves at home in the generous space of Tony's lounge.
Was that an okay length? Better than the last few chapters? Worse? Let me know what you think as always!
Time flies by,
Storm.
