Chapter 2
Mikoto Suoh sat at the bar drinking whiskey when he felt the similar energy of a specific girl. A girl that was his best friend. But it couldn't be her since she's dead. She died saving him. It couldn't be. He still hasn't gotten quite over that yet.
He looked out the window and startled. There was a girl with light pink hair standing there looking in from a bit of a distance. She looked familiar in a way that was unusual. She gave him a sense of deja vu unlike anything.
She started to walk away and he about got up from his stool and went after her, but he stopped himself. Why was he about to go after a girl he never met before? Why?
Mikoto settled back on his stool and finished his drink in one gulp. He might even need another.
Izumo stood there cleaning and talking to his bar...
"Oi! Stop talking to the bar like it's your lover."
"Mikoto! That's not true, your just jealous you've never had something this special. She's a thing of pure beauty!"
"I did have something special to me." He replied softly and a little sad. His eyes glazed over when he started remembering some of the things they had done together...
Izumo pulled him out of his thoughts, stating that if he was done drinking, to put his glass in the sink, he wasn't gonna do it for him. Mikoto grumbled and got up to go put his glass in the sink like he was asked to, grumbling the whole way. He needed a nap.
…...
He's in the middle of a dream when he sees that girl again.
"Who are you? How are in my head?" He demanded angrily. He didn't like his mind being messed with.
"Mikoto, it's me Eleska." The mysterious girl replied.
"No. your not her. She's dead, I saw her die." Mikoto growled, furious at the girl for trying to take his friend's/lovers identity.
"I didn't die I just….went somewhere else for a little while. Please, believe me."
"NO! Get OUT of my head! I won't fall for this!" He saw a sad look come over her face when he said that.
"I don't want you in my head. Get out!"He bolted up right in his bed, panting with sweat pouring down his body. Just what was that?
God, I need a shower.
When he climbed into the shower he laid his head against the wall. Was that really her? If it was, that means she's still alive. He would've given a smile at the thought had the doubts not crept in again.
…...
He was getting another shot of whiskey when Anna came up to him and said,
"You have to believe her." He whisked his head around, choking on the sip of his drink that he'd just taken.
"What did you just say? You new she was alive?" As he looked into her eyes, they told him everything he needed to know..
"Mikoto, I'm sorry, but you have to understand what she was going through. When Shiro, first found her, she was a total disaster. She was in a coma for months, when she finally woke up she didn't know who or what she is...When she saved your life, the slate did something to her.. We still don't know even after she got her memories back."
"That doesn't give you the right to keep it from me!" He spat out angrily.
"I'm going to bed. Don't stay up too late." She watched him walk away, shaking her head. Why did her sister have to choose the most thickheaded man out there to fall in love with? She can't get anything into that thick scull of his...
…...
Right now the thoughts running on in Eleska's head are ones doubt.
What was I thinking! Shiro told me this would happen and I didn't listen to him...again. But instead she just smiled sadly, thinking of how amazing it was to finally see him in person again... Just the thought of Mikoto breathes life into her.
She sat looking out a window in the hot air balloon. Just looking out at the view and thinking of the happy moments between her and Mikoto calmed her right down.
Speaking of Mikoto, she could sense his anger from here. God, she knew how much he's hurting from this... Maybe hiding away from him for this long wasn't the best idea.
She missed his touch, his kisses, his sensation, his caress, his presence, his...everything. She remembered when they would just cuddle in his room some days, she never thought Mikoto would like cuddling... with his usual grumpy temper. She smiled at that thought, she was about the only one who could calm him down. Then again she could rile him up just as much...
Just then Kuroh entered the room breaking her thoughts.
"Eleska we need to talk." She turned to look at him.
"Okay, what about, Kuroh?"
"We've been monitoring your condition...It's getting worse, Eleska. We don't know how much more time you're going to have before it finally consumes your body." As he said this you could see the worry and anguish written all over his face. It was heatbreaking.
"Kuroh, it's okay. I'm not afraid. Knowing that I saw Mikoto one last time has taken all my worries away. Besides Kazuma will be with me where I'm going." I tried to say happily but couldn't quite make it real.
"Kazuma is a dear friend to me. I'll be okay as long as he's there."
Kazuma lives in that place I went to for a little while after I saved Mikoto, a place made by the slate, a safe place a place to call home.
"Speaking of Kazuma, he should be coming by soon." At that thought she cheered up a bit. She would be okay if she couldn't stay in this world, Mikoto will be safer that way... and she won't be alone. She'll be with Kazuma and the many, many, many children there. The thought of little Misa waiting for her return, made everything a bit easier.
