Author's Note

Here is the awaited (hopefully you did await it… T^T) Chapter 17! Read it nicely and thoroughly, because this is another huge step towards the new arc!

"Ah, I knew I could rely on you, (Unknown word)… now, go and inform everyone that its tomorrow, also tell (Unknown word) that the Dragons are out, and (he/she/it) should do what (he/she/it) must. We're beginning tomorrow, my soldier…" The second person ordered.

"Your wish is my command." And the first person kneeled.

And this was the beginning of the catastrophe which held the lives of the innocent people of the world…
And our heroes were still oblivious to the great danger which lurked ahead…

Time Check: 5:00 PM (wait, is that right…?)

"*Yawn* What time is it now…? Whose at the door…?" Erza woke up to the sound of the door bell ringing, "OH WAIT, what the hell am I doing? I should go open the door!"

Erza got out of bed and rushed downstairs in full speed. Before going to open the door, she took a look at the wall clock. 5 pm, alright! She ran to the door, panted and then opened the door.

"Um, hello? Someone? Who rung the doorbell just now?" Erza looked out into thin air. There was no one at the door. Then what was that she heard? Were her ears ringing?

"…Wait…there's something wrong… its 5 PM right..? Then why the hell is it SO dark outside and in the mansion too!?" Erza cursed about, talking to herself. And that's when the mystery was solved.

"Erza…? Why are you talking to yourself at 5 AM in the morning? And at the door, that is. Did you also hear the bell?" Jellal walked towards Erza yawning and rubbing his eyes.

"Wha…? 5 AM! I slept THAT LONG? Damn…" Erza looked at Jellal disbelievingly as if he just said something like, 'Hey Erza, I have magic and I'm a King!' Thankfully it wasn't that bad, otherwise Erza would've reacted quite a bit…violently. Erza stopped her thoughts from going further because there was no point in thinking about something impossible, no?

Well…I would like not to comment on that.

"Er, yeah you did but… its not a big problem, Erza. What's more important is that you probably should close the door before some insects decide to take refuge here." Jellal pointed out, sweatdropping. Since he saw no one at the door.

"Oh-oh yeah" She closed the door and then went to the living room with Jellal.

"So, who was at the door? I heard the bell ringing. Did they already go?" Jellal inquired, curious as he saw no one when the door was open. He suspected it was related to what happened last night… if it was, then he really needed to talk it out with BlackZ (Zeref) to the Masters and the Councilors.

"Huh, oh that…I heard the bell, so I went to check but there was no one there…" Erza held her face by her chin and thought about it looking at the ceiling.

"Really…? Hmm, who could it be… I doubt any kids would try to pull a prank so early in the morning; kids hate getting up so early as it is." Jellal commented, going over through many possibilities.

"Yeah you're right… plus the kids in the neighborhood aren't actually that naughty, so I don't think it was a prank. It was something else, I'm sure."

"Hey Jellal." It was him. He walked lazily toward Erza and Jellal and slumped down on the couch beside Jellal, hugging Jellal's shoulder.

"Er, what happened to you…?" Jellal looked at him, sweatdropping. Erza looked at the duo, a bit confused.

"Well, I heard the door bell and was about to come out to open it. But then suddenly, when I was getting off the bed, I fell. So, it took me a while before in my half-asleep state I got up and came here. My arm still hurts… oh well, tell me, who was on the door?" He asked, rubbing his arm to soothe the pain. Jellal and Erza winced at hearing his tale.

"Um..wait…sorry but…who are you?" Erza asked, taking in his appearance. He had jet black hair, black eyes and pale skin, and Erza didn't remember meeting anyone like that. Unless….

"Oh, yeah. You haven't met him, right? Well, its ok. Bro, this is Erza, my childhood FRIEND and a member of TRD. And Erza this... this is my friend and the 4th member of TBP… Zeref." Jellal introduced the two (yes, yes he put emphasis on 'friend'), and they both smiled and shook hands.

"Ah finally! I get to meet THE Erza Scarlet, the one and only. Jellal kept telling me about you so much – and so many times! – I really wanted to meet you. Finally today I did." Zeref was fully awake now and very enthusiastic as well.

"Haha, really Jellal?" Erza looked at Jellal amusingly.

"Er… its obvious I would talk about my childhood best friend you know." Jellal looked away, "but, I think we can continue this later. We have another matter at hand now. Who was at the door? Zeref, there was actually no one when Erza opened the door."

"What? Then… hmm…" Zeref became deathly quiet, pondering over something that just hit him.

"Who could it be…? What would they want from us…?" Erza tried to think of anyone who could do that.

"Wait guys. You've missed something really important." Zeref suddenly looked up, and very seriously.

"Uh…what?" Jellal and Erza asked simultaneously.

"You're missing out a really important point. And your question is wrong. Instead of 'who could it be?' think about 'why only the 3 of us?' Jellal, you know that Mirajane is a very bad sleeper. She wakes up instantly at small sounds. So why isn't she here by now? Why did only the three of us hear it and come here? Believe me, the sounds of the bell were echoing in the house." Zeref explained, looking around very cautiously.

"Now that you mention it… Y-you're right, Zeref… this is wrong…" Jellal got a bit worried. He really needed to talk to Master about this.

"Y-you're right… why only the 3 of us… where are the others…?" Erza got up and went to check on the others.

"Jellal. This is wrong. This might be connected to what happened last night. Heck, my guts tell me it IS connected to last night. We need to set up a meeting for the Masters and the Councilors." Zeref looked at Jellal seriously now.

"You're absolutely right; I myself was thinking that we might need to set up the meeting." Jellal sighed.

Jellal and Zeref sat in silence, pondering over the matter. It was quite a disaster the night before, they almost got caught! What happened, you think? Well…

Flashback

TBP plus Jelarl and Snoopy sat in the living room, laying on the couches. Happy had already went to sleep in his basket in Natsu's room. None of the TRD members woke up, so TBP didn't bother to wake them up either, maybe they were just really tired. It was now 11 at night and everyone was watching TV together.

"Oh well, come on guys… let's call it a day, I'm really tired." Gray yawned and switched the TV off, wanting nothing but to go to sleep. It was quite a tiring day.

"You're right Gray, let's all go to sleep. Night Everyone!" Mira announced and got up from the couch and went to the room she was staying at in the mansion. She and Juvia shared a room, Lucy and Gray shared a room(Lucy's, couldn't move her from there since she was already asleep, and Gray since she doesn't mind, they are like siblings), Jellal and Natsu shared a room(Natsu's, already asleep otherwise he would go with Lucy), Zeref had his own since there was a single bed, and finally Erza and Jelarl shared Erza's.

"Ok, Good Night, dear. See you in the morning!" Juvia kissed Gray, then went to sleep.

"Hey, get a room, love birds!" Zeref commented, lying lazily on the couch, playing on his phone, "I don't want any dangers to my sanity." He joked.

"Shut up!" Gray got up from the couch and went to the fridge to get some cold water. Ice cold water. Then went to his room from there.

"Hahaha, I might actually die of laughing someday you know," Jellal laughed, not being able to stop himself, "You guys are great."

"You shall not comment so, Fernandes. You will need that warning from me soon, now that you finally met up with your little crush." Zeref smirked.

"Will you try not dragging me into every topic we talk about? Whatever, lets go to sleep now, I'm really damn tired." Jellal sighed and stretched his arms.

"Yeah yeah, my deer." Yes, yes Zeref did call Jellal a deer just now.

"I hate you, my monkey," Jellal smiled and got up from the couch.

"I love you too." Zeref laughed and too got up. "Ok, lets finally go to sleep."

"Finally you said something intelligible first time. See ya in the morning!" And off Jellal went, hearing a faint 'What do you mean first time!?' in the background, but well, he was too tired. He entered Natsu's room and found him snoring loudly. He cast a spell which prevented Natsu from snoring, then he also went to sleep.

In the middle of the night though, when everyone was asleep, at 12:30 am… there was a sound, like a knock. No, not on the door. On the window of the living room. It was really soft, so soft that not even Dragon Slayers could hear it. But, there were 2 people who heard it. The Kings had exceptional hearing which even the Dragon Slayers didn't possess.

Jellal Fernandes and Zeref's eyes suddenly shot open at the sound. They jumped up in an instant, and towards the living room.

"Zeref."

"Jellal." They both nodded and cast an invisibility and presence absence spell to hide themselves. They then walked to the window. By the window, they could vaguely make out the silhouette of a shadow standing just outside because of the moonlight; otherwise, they were clever enough to use an invisibility spell too.

Jellal and Zeref then contacted telepathically, agreed to go outside and take the person by surprise from behind, so there would not be noise that could wake up someone in the house.

So they rushed outside and ran to the backyard, where the window to the living room is supposed to be. They inspected the shadow's position and attacked the stalker from back. Jellal held his/her mouth to prevent them from speaking while Zeref held their arms and legs to prevent them to resist.

The person tried to shout, kick and shoot their arms, but to no avail. One could not escape the Kings' grasp unless they give up their life. Jellal then release his bind snake on the person, which immediately ceased all movement from the person. It was futile trying to fight off bind snake, seems the person knew.

Zeref picked the person up by the collar and threw them on the nearby bench, "So, what the hell are you doing here?" Turns out it was a man, someone with spiky blond hair, a pointy nose, pale skin and goggles.

The man replied with a growl. Jellal and Zeref stood in front of him with their arms crossed, looking absolutely terrifying. Jellal neared him a little, with golden glowing eyes and a golden-black scary aura surrounding him. Zeref followed with blood red glowing eyes and a black terrifying aura surrounding him.

"Speak. Up. Or. Else." Jellal glowered.

"Er…y-you both, stay a-a-away from me! I tell you! M-My Ma-Master will, will…. AND THERE HE IS!" The mysterious man stammered, obviously scared, and tried to divert the Kings' attention so even in his bound state he could try to escape, try. Too bad they didn't fall for it, at all. They still stood there, glowering at him.

The aura around Zeref strengthened, "Last chance."

The man's breathing was erratic, and he was terrified completely by the duo, to say the least. He never encountered anyone like them, and he was sure that he could not take them both on by himself. Well, he obviously couldn't even run away with the bind snake still on him. He needed to think of a plan to escape.

"We are waiting, you know." Jellal tapped his foot on the ground.

The man mustered up courage, "W-will you l-let me-me go… i-if I te-tell y-you?"

Zeref and Jellal glanced at each other, then nodded. Obviously, they were saying the truth… they didn't say let go from what though.

"Grr…I-I came to…to… injure those… those… I assume you both are from Fiore…?" He asked to confirm they were magic users because he knew that nothing from the magic world should be known by anyone from outside. He knew that they probably were some super awesome S or SS class wizards, but just to confirm.

"Yes, continue." Jellal replied.

"So… I-I came to injure those… Fairies… who are… residents here…" The man confessed, lowering his head. He noticed that as soon as he said that the aura surrounding the two immediately got worse.

"N-now, l-let me go…" The man tried to release himself from the restrains of the bind snake.

"Ok." Jellal replied and released the bind snake, but as soon as the man was about to run, Zeref caught him and cast a spell with which a portal appeared, grabbing the man. The man screamed. Damn. Zeref immediately closed the portal, and the man was transferred to a jail cell, where the captain of the magic division custody stood, obviously to inquire him.

Actually, Zeref and Jellal were a part of the council and the Ten Wizard Saints too, apart from being in Fairy Tail. So Zeref had already informed Lahar about the man with telepathy before, and that he would send him in the cell.

And that was when Jellal and Zeref heard the demon coming toward them, they put over their arms over each other's shoulders and pretended to take a walk.

"Is anyone there…?" Mirajane called out, walking toward the backyard. She had been woken up by a scream and came out to check what happened, "Jellal and Zeref? What are you doing out here? I heard a scream…" Jellal and Zeref turned around.

"Er, Mira… uh, we were not able to sleep, so we came out for a walk, when Zeref got his knee hit by this bench so he kind of screamed… ahaha…" Jellal nervously made up a story which Mirajane might believe. Zeref crushed Jellal's foot under his for the ridiculous story he made up.

"I see…" Mirajane smiled. She had an intuition that something related to Fiore can happen here, so she had to be careful these two do not find out anything. Since these both were such light sleepers too. She had to be really really careful…

Flashback Over

"Hope it is not related to that man; our identities might be at risk if this continues…" Zeref said, sighing too. They both again sat in silence when Erza rushed back in the living room.

"Jellal, Zeref." She panted, looking really worried, "We have a really big problem."

Oh yes, I fulfilled both promises I made this time! One, I revealed 'him' which is Zeref in this chapter and Two, update before New Year! I remember saying I would update before Christmas OR New Year at least so yeah.. I was about to update before Christmas or on the day, but then I got so busy, like totally… and tomorrow is my function and I have to sing, so please hope that I win!

Anyways, about the next update, it will be before 18 January, 2015. (well, most probably otherwise before Feb, surely.)
