Alistair breathed in the air as he was rowed across the lake. He was excited would be the most minor way that he could put it. He was ecstatic, riveted every synonym for excited that he could think of. He didn't hear what the man, Kester, had said but he thanked him and got out. "This is it." He breathed out in amazement as he stared up at the tall tower. It looked beautiful and yet also ominous. Alistair shook his head and walked up to the doors where he was surprised by the presence of Greagoir. He bowed. "Knight Commander! I didn't that you'd be the one to greet me at the doors I'm honoured."
Greagoir chuckled. "Well, you're a breath of fresh air. Come I'll show you around."
Alistair cocked his head and coughed into his head. "Actually, I don't need to be shown around sir. I've been here before, it was quite a while ago but I'm sure the layout is probably the same."
Greagoir squinted at him for a moment before giving an ah and clasping his shoulder. "Ah young Alistair! I remember you. You did fairly well with that whole situation. Well then I guess you can go on in and get settled into a bunk. I'd like for you to report to me after you've settled in."
"Of course." Alistair bowed and went into the tower. He'd dreamt of coming back to this place many times but he never thought that it would actually happen and he was certainly glad that he was back. He wandered into the hall and got many curious glimpses from the mages. He heard many of them whisper to one another and blushed when some girls whispered and giggled and waved at him. He blushed and gave a small wave back and they screamed and scurried off. He shook his head. He couldn't believe that he was here. This place, although it should have been a miserable memory was not. It was filled with joy, something that couldn't be said to the place that he had resided before.
Stuck in his day dream he ran right into a woman. She let out an oomf and the books in her hands fell out as she fell to her backside on the ground. Alistair gaped for a moment before hurriedly picking up her books. He read the covers of them and was impressed; the history of Ferelden, The nobility of Ferelden, The Chantry. The list went on none of the books revolved around magi and this mage was reading them. "I am so sorry. I wasn't paying attention to where I was going and I know I really should have been but I wasn't and again I am so sorry."
She let out a laugh that was warm and filled the air. "It's no problem. I shouldn't have my nose stuffed into a book while walking around this place. Who knows what I could have walked into right?"
He liked this woman already. She was good humoured and also took the blame and didn't blow up at him. When she looked up at him he immediately looked away. Those eyes, he would never forget that shade of green. It had been five years since that night and had she changed. She was obviously a woman now and a highly attractive one at that. Before she could get a good look at him he shoved the books back into her hands and fled. He didn't want to deal with her, not yet. He would leave an impression on her now yes but she probably hasn't thought about him in years and won't make the connection.
He panted heavily. He had ran all the way to the outside of Irving's office and by the Maker had that been a mistake. He was in great shape no doubt, you had to be as a templar but it was warm in the tower (or was that just him?) and he ran up quite a few stairs. After taking a breather he knocked on the door and was called in. When he entered he was kind of shocked. The First Enchanter hadn't changed one bit. Maybe a wrinkle or two but he was almost magically unaged. He bowed. "First Enchanter Irving, you have requested my presence upon my arrival to the tower?"
Irving looked up from his work and smiled. "Ah Alistair! Such a pleasure to have you back here, it's been what five years now? That's a long time to be away from a place. I'm glad you decided that you want the Ferelden Circle to be your home." Alistair stared at him. He remembered that the man had been kind but not as kind as this. "I recently got a letter from the Arl of Redcliff. It seems that you have quite the heavy burden on your shoulders." Alistair's shoulders slouched down. He knew his secret. Alistair Theirin. That was the heavy burden that he carried around with him. He looked up when he heard a chuckle come from Irving. "Oh come now boy don't be so glum. You're going to be worked just as hard as anyone else here. You're a Templar, there are no excuses to being coddled now. Especially since you're twenty-two. You are a man and you will be treated like anyone else here, your bloodline does not exempt you from your duties am I clear?" His eyes twinkled as he spoke.
Alistair's face lit up into a bright smile and he couldn't help but laugh out boisterously. "Sir, you have no idea how long I've been waiting to hear someone say that to me. It's quite a relief."
Irving chuckled. "Good, because I wouldn't want you around if you were some prissy child."
The two passed some time before there was knock on the door. "Ah." Irving stood up. "I wonder who that could be." He walked up to the door as Alistair drank from his cup of tea and heard the voice from earlier and froze.
"I'm sorry Irving! I kinda forgot about our lesson, that you had changed the times. Plus I ran into this really cute guy I think he might be a new Templar but I can still call him cute right? Anyway so there I was walking down the hall and we ran right into each other and he had an extremely sexy voice, and don't give me that look you said you wanted to know when interesting things happened to me and like I only caught a glimpse of his profile but I could tell he was highly attractive." The voice had stopped and Alistair had by this time covered his face with his hands and started laughing quietly. "Oh Maker. IRVING. Why wouldn't you tell me that there sitting in your chair, was the attractive man?"
Alistair at this point had to turn around and see her face. She… sure had turned into an adult alright. He blushed looking at her. Ew, he had fallen in love with a thirteen year old. That was by far the creepiest thing he had ever done and probably ever will do. Alistair quickly turned back around when he found that she had been staring at him and was startled by the voice, now quiet and pointed at him. "Al-Alistair? Is that you?"
He couldn't bring himself to turn back around and look at her face. "That would be me yes."
"Maker it really is you."
That was the most beautiful run in that she ever had. Her heart fluttered. That was the sort of thing that happened in the romance novels that she secret loved so much. Although she hadn't seen the entirety of his face she knew that he was an extremely attractive man. Only one problem, he was totally a templar. Irving had given her a warning to watch her step with who she decided to have flings with and he didn't outright say that she shouldn't have a fling but she got the hint. She walked into her room and found a bunch of girls huddled together. She smirked and walked over. "New guy?"
They made room for her in the circle and Darcy squealed. "Oh Maker yees. Did you see him? Well I figure you did since you mentioned him, but I can't believe that we haven't had him before now!"
Addison nodded. "I am actually inclined to agree with Darcy. That was one fine man that walked into this tower." Everyone burst out laughing as Addison sighed heavily.
Sierra wiped her eye. She hadn't had such a good time with all of the girls in a while so this was a nice change. "I didn't get a good look at his face but he kinda ran into me and my books flew all over the place. Then he helped me pick them up and got flustered and left." She nodded as other girls awed.
Darcy pouted. "Why do all the hot guys fall for you Sierra? That's hardly fair, leave some for the rest of us." This comment left the girls and another round of giggles and laughter before Sierra wore loudly.
"Shit I am going to be so late for my lesson!" They all bade her farewell as she rushed her way to Irving's office.
Once there she knocked loudly and Irving opened the door with a look of surprise on his face. He barely had time to register that it was her before she shot off her mouth. "I'm sorry Irving! I kinda forgot about our lesson, that you had changed the times. Plus I ran into this really cute guy I think he might be a new Templar but I can still call him cute right? Anyway so there I was walking down the hall and we ran right into each other and he had an extremely sexy voice, and don't give me that look you said you wanted to know when interesting things happened to me and like I only caught a glimpse of his profile but I could tell he was highly attractive." She heard a quiet laughter come from inside the room and was horrified that the attractive man that she had been talking about was sitting not but ten feet away. "Oh Maker. IRVING. Why wouldn't you tell me that there sitting in your chair, was the attractive man?" When he turned around fully to face her, her heart stopped. She never forgot this face for she often dreamt of it. Alistair the man that she had been waiting for was here. Right in front of her. She saw a blush cross his face and looked down at herself. Was there a problem with how she looked? She shook her head. "Al-Alistiar?" She had to make sure that it was in fact him. "Is that you?"
She was sad when she said his name and he didn't turn around, perhaps it wasn't him after all. "That would be me yes."
Inwardly she gasped. His voice had most certainly deepened of course. He was what? Twenty-two now? A man, Maker, he was a man now. "Maker it really is you." He seemed ashamed he wouldn't look at her. "Alistair, why won't you look at me?"
She was being very forward but that was who she was wasn't it? Someone who wasn't afraid to speak her mind? In this case she would love to find that girl because she was terrified to say anything to him. His answer was one that she was not expecting to hear. "Because, I don't deserve to. I'm sorry I must take my leave. Thank you for the tea Irving. Good day miss."
She tried to talk to him as he passed but Irving shushed and held her back. She looked at his receding back and looked back to Irving with tears in her eyes. "At least this time he said goodbye."
Sorry that it's so short guys, Uni is kicking my ass right now but I'm still try to update!
