I DO NOT OWN YUGIOH
As the two stepped off the glass staircase and onto the main floor, they turned to face the white wall that lead to the art exhibits. In the middle of the wall was a sign stating some of the pieces shown and the quick rules for this section. On either side of the sign, built into the wall, were twisted tree trunks. In the center of the trunks was an opening leading to the other side.
"I wonder how they did this floor?" Yugi commented
Yami just shrugged in response.
Yugi took a step forward before glancing at Yami and continuing. Yami smiled at Yugi's back before following. They slipped through the opening and were greeted with a colorful sight. Open, white rooms held different pieces of art that varied from paintings to sculptures. Bright burst of colors covered the walls in the form of paintings and built in art but the most apparent pieces of art was the instillation art. In the entrance room were many white paper birds hanging from the ceiling. They started at the floor before the trail of birds spiraled upwards to the intricately sun-shaped light above.
"Wow." Yugi exclaimed as he stared in awe
Yami chuckled at Yugi before grabbing his hand and leading him through the world of color. At every other art piece they walked by Yugi would stopped them to stare at the beautiful piece and if it wasn't for Yami leading him to the next one, they would have never left the museum. Yugi was simply fascinated by the art and how they were made out of nearly everything from chairs to sticks. It was simply amazing to see how people worked with these objects and made them into some whimsical design.
As they looked around, Yami listened to Yugis little bouts of fascination. At first they were a small comment but as time went on they soon became never-ending sentences of his opinions on the piece. Every now and again a small story would be told because the piece had reminded him of his friends in high school or of the many games Yugi had seen in his grandpas shop when he was younger.
"You know, my Grandpa had actually wanted to move his business to Domino but he never found the opportunity."
"Is he still looking for a place?"
"Well, he can't anymore." Yugi answered
"Oh, is he..." Yami trailed off not wanting to make Yugi upset.
"Dead? Yeah. He died not to long after I graduated but it's okay. I'm fine to talk about it."
Yugi looked down at the ground for a second before looking back at Yami. He smiled brightly before darting off to another art piece as soon as it caught his eye. Yami stared after him as he circled around what looked like some sort of flower made out of glass, eyes wide in wonder. The behavior reminded Yami of a child who had seen snow for the first time. The wonderment of something new reflecting off Yugi. Yugi almost seemed to bounce in place when he found something new to explore and his smile never seemed to leave him. It made Yami happy to be able to see him like this instead of the way everyone else sees. Yami walked over to him and led him away to the next piece.
When Yugi would admire the artwork, Yami would sneak glances at him and give a small smile at the sight. That childish aura around Yugi never seemed to leave but Yami didn't want it to leave. It almost seemed natural for Yugi to act this way.
"Yami look at that!" Yami was drawn from his thoughts and allowed himself to be dragged away to a different piece.
He chuckled to himself at that.
Two days ago he would have to have been the one leading them around. For now at least, Yugi could take tat role from him. To be honest he liked it that way.
As Yugi dragged Yami over to a small hallway, bits of color peaked into his vision. Yugi finally stopped in the doorway to a small hallway. The walls floor and ceiling of the hallway were painted black unlike the rest of the floor with two white lights in the ceiling the only light from inside. What was really fascinating about this hall was the thousands of colorful thread aliened on each side. The thread started at the crease where the wall and ceiling meet then sloped downward before stopping so that the other side wouldn't meet, leaving a diamond shaped pathway to walk through. To add to that the thread was placed so one color faded into another and so on. Yugi jumped around in the tunnel careful not to ruin the art while Yami watched. Eventually Yami chuckled before laughing drawing Yugi's attention. Yugi stopped and blushed before leading Yami to another piece.
After being dragged around to many different artworks Yami asked if he was ready to go to the next floor.
Once again as they made their way to the bottom floor, the music changed. Instead of the soft museum music, it changed to something more upbeat. The paint on the walls changed from white to grey, and lead to a thick, black door. Upon opening the double doors, they were led into a large black room that branched into other rooms just like the other floors. Neon lights and glowing glass tables lit the room and directed you to were the exhibits were. Music seemed to pulse all through the rooms. Some exhibits even had their own music playing to add to what your learning. The exhibits explained how sound works, how music began, the evolution of music, and things of the such.
Both Yugi and Yami seemed to enjoy this floor more than the others. Many of the interactive stations played with light that represented a different part of the music playing and allowed you to change the sound to see the difference. Other stations allowed you to try out different different instruments and see how their sound traveled. They both were so caught up in the interactions that they split up without knowing. Neither seemed to notice until Yami decided to ask Yugi if he wanted to leave.
When he didn't get a response he noticed that Yugi was gone. He looked around the room to see if he was near by but couldn't find him. After about ten minutes of searching the entire floor and still not finding Yugi, Yami found himself by the floor door. He sighed. Maybe Yugi had gone upstairs thinking that Yamis was there. He knew Yugi wouldn't leave without at least telling Yami that he had to go. Right? Yami turned to look at the empty room. When he turned back around, something caught his eye along the side wall. He left the door and walked over to what caught his eye. A small path leading further into the exhibits was what he found. He hadn't seen it earlier due to the dark walls and no light to bring attention to it.
Yami walked down the path hoping to find Yugi down here. At the end, it opened up to another black room with different exhibits but in the back corner was a small, box shaped room. One one of the side of the box was a door with a small window to see inside. Yami walked up to the room and peered through the window. On the wall to the left was a large screen that took up the whole wall. The screen screen was full of tiny black white and grey dots moving around in a frenzy while on top of them where three different colored lines that went across the screen. The three lines moved in sync with a different aspect of the song playing inside. Yami watched to screen move with the song when something moved across the screen, obstructing the image. A shadow of a person was dancing across the screen. Yami finally opened the door and stepped into the plain, dark room. Moving with the shadow, dancing in the center was Yugi, who had yet to notice his company.
Yugi stopped momentarily as the song ended before resuming as the next song started up. Yami just stood back and watched with soft eyes. It was hard to miss the smile that seemed to be permanently fixed on Yugi's face and the sparkle in his eyes as he moved with the music. He watched his shadow moved along the back wall and laughed a bit as the obstructed part of the screen continued to move along his body. He moved freely without a care in the world. Just living in this happy moment. When the next song came on, Yugi gave a small jump with excitement.
Yami glanced over at the song title on the screen before he was re-captivated by Yugi. The song was You Bring Me Joy by Amelia Lily. Yami smiled as he watched Yugi's movements closely. Before he could stop himself, he walked forward and grabbed Yugi's hand. He heard YUgi gasp as he spun him around but when Yugi was facing him, he smiled and continued to dance with Yami.
Yugi would laugh happily every time Yami would spin him around before continuing the dance. He felt happy and like how he was years ago before life hit him. It was great! It was as if everything was pushed away and he could finally enjoy something without worry. To add on, Yami was with him. His smile widened at that. He didn't have to worry with the other there, he felt safe with him. A small part of that bad him told him that he was wrong though. That voice that he had been pushing aside reminded him that because of Yami, bad things could happen. That bad things will happen if he continued to hang out with him.
Yugi could tell that all that he had pushed and locked away for today was about to come back. He didn't want to loose this carefree feeling! Desperately, Yugi hung on to the blissful ignorance the was fading away.
As his thoughts started to change, Yugi tripped over his feet and fell forward. Before he hit the ground, he felt grab his waist and was pulled into their chest.
"You alright?"
Yugi tilted his head back to look into concerned crimson eyes. He nodded causing Yami to close his eyes and sigh before looking at him with a smile. All Yugi's worries vanished again as smiled back before bursting into laughter. Yami looked at him confused before shacking his head and letting Yugi go. The latter got his laughter under control before following Yami out of the room and made they're way out.
"Thank you Yami, that was really fun."
"Your welcome. Besides it was nice to hang out with you."
"Yeah. I enjoyed just being able to have fun and laugh and- oh my gosh! That was the first time I laughed for a long time!" Yugi's hands covered his mouth in shock.
"Really?"Yami shot him a shocked look at Yugi, who lowered his hands,"Well then I'm going to have to make you laugh more often. You have a cute laugh."
Yugi blushed and looked away,"Thanks." he looked up when he felt coll air rush past him, tell him that they were outside.
"What are we going to do now?"Yugi asked
Yami glanced at his phone before glaring at it."I have to go. Sorry."
Yugi hung his head. That meant that he had to go back to Saru. Yugi closed his eyes. He didn't want to go back but he had to. That little voice was right: Yami did cause bad things to happen. But he enjoyed hanging out with Yami! If Saru finds out that he was with Yami again-
Yugi's eyes shot open when he felt somehthing on his chest. His eyes widened as he lifted his hand up to the heart amulet around his neck. He stared at it before looking at Yami.
"For protection."Yami explained before Yugi could ask.
Yugi walked forward and hugged Yami. He knew that it was just a silly trinket that Yami had gotten in a machine, but it was the thought that counts and it was still a nice gift. He didn't get many of those.
Yami hugged him back before pulling away.
"Want me to walk back with you?"Yugi shook his head.
"Alright then. See you tomorrow Yugi."
