Bobby emerged from the bathroom after standing under an icy blast of water for a few minutes. The action was rendered fruitless however as soon as his eyes found Sophie lying on her stomach, bare legs kicking through the air as she thumbed through the notes from Harris. She had already changed into her pajamas and tamed her hair into a messy bun.
"Hi," she smiled sweetly.
"Hi."
"I was just going over the plans for tomorrow. We'll be wired up so it will just be a matter of them taking a girl into the back and then we move when Harris says."
Bobby nodded before lying down next to her, opting instead to rest against his pillow on his back. Her feet stopped swinging for fear of kicking him, and fell against her own pillow. It was difficult to not stare at her long legs, especially in their bare state.
"Should we talk about what almost happened?" He finally asked after his mind began to form a fantasy involving her legs wrapping around him.
"We can, although I thought it was pretty clear what happened," Sophie rolled onto her back so that she could look at him without straining her neck. "We had to stop."
"I know."
"Not for lack of interest of course."
"Of course."
"But maybe until we aren't in the heat of the moment, after we get to know each other a little better?"
"I agree. Maybe when we get back to the city we could go on a real date."
"I would really like that."
"We should—uh-," Bobby paused for a minute, fighting the urge to lean forward and kiss her. "We should get some sleep."
"Yeah," she agreed easily, fighting the same urge to close the space between them.
Sleep had never been so elusive. Both were painfully aware of the body lying next to them. Sophie finally rolled onto her side so that she was facing Bobby, then moved closer so that she could wrap her arms around him. It seemed as though the contact was enough for the tension to ease slightly, allowing them to drift off at last.

The next evening was spent in preparation. While Bobby changed Sophie gathered the wires and earpieces she kept locked away in the safe.
"This is going to be a bitch to remove," she mused with a grin as Bobby held the wire in place on his bare chest. "Tape and hair, nasty combination."
"Maybe use the tape sparingly," he suggested.
"There," she pressed her fingers against the adhesive, trailing slightly of course and lightly caressing his skin, "that seems pretty secure. Put your shirt on, let me make sure I can't see it."
"I'm going to have my jacket on too," he pointed out pulling the black t-shirt on over his head and settling it into place.
"Should be fine," she picked up the second wire and handed it to him. "My turn."
Bobby nodded, trying to maintain composure as she pulled off the cropped black and metallic sweater, then the fitted camisole she wore underneath. He couldn't help an appreciative sweep of her figure; she had a small waist, which slowly bloomed into ample cleavage and hips. The bra she wore was black with a pattern of small purple flowers and a bow placed at the juncture that connected the two cups. He wished they could just put everything on hold for a few hours so that he could take the time and thoroughly explore her body.
"Shame that this is the first time I get to see you topless," he mused, gently holding the wire to her warm skin before applying a piece of tape.
"We'll see how our date goes, I'm sure you'll get a second chance," she grinned suggestively.
"You're all set," he said, standing back to admire his work. Sophie pulled her top back on, layering everything carefully.
"Can you see it?"
"Not even if you look closely."
"Good, you've got your gun? Earpiece?"
"Yup," he nodded, checking his ankle holster once more. Sophie laughed pulling up her own pant leg to reveal her own holster. "His and Her's."

The club was opened but it was a slow night thus far. Not too many people were bothering to linger outside in the cold, opting instead to go inside and drink. Bobby pulled the car to a stop near the end of the block so that he could see the door from the driver's seat.
"I'll send you a text if she's already in there."
"Be careful."
"You too," Sophie climbed out of the car and began her walk down to the club. Out of the corner of her eye she noticed movement in a dark doorway. It took her a moment before she realized that it was Harris. With a small nod she continued down the sidewalk.
Pulling the heavy door open, Sophie was immediately hit with a blast of warm air. The music was loud, there was already a crowd taking up tables covered with pitchers of beers and dancing closely in dark corners. Off to the side, watching everything going on she caught sight of John, nursing a scotch while chatting uncomfortably with Nicole. Sophie made her way towards them, keeping one hand low so they couldn't see that she was holding her cell phone.
She's in
"Sophie, I was wondering when you would get here," John welcomed her. "Robert outside?"
"Yeah."
"Great, excuse me, ladies."
"Politeness isn't really a virtue around here, is it?" Nicole joked.
"Too cold to be polite," Sophie replied with a laugh.

"Cold night, huh?" John called to Bobby as he slipped outside and fished a cigarette from his pocket.
"Haven't seen any other kind yet," he replied. John chuckled as he pulled his vibrating phone from his jeans.
"Damn thing. Beeps and chirps at me, I have no idea what it wants half the time."

"So, have you lived in town long?" Nicole began conversationally.
"Not that long, a couple of months," Sophie explained, momentarily distracted by a high-pitched trill.
"Is that you?"
"I think it's yours."
"These things are awful. Pictures never come in clearly," Nicole shrugged trying to make out the pixilated image. Sophie simply nodded in agreement.
"I'm going to grab a drink, you want anything?"
"No thanks, John and I have some business to attend to."
It was about 15 minutes later when Sophie finally saw Nicole and John leading a pretty teenage girl towards the back office.
"Making their move," Sophie whispered quietly.
"Move in," Harris' voice replied. Sophie slid off her barstool and made her way to the door she had been watching. She slowly pulled it open, glancing inside before following through. The girl was drugged, knocked out cold on the couch. As she reached for the second gun in the back of her jeans the door slammed shut behind her.
"We've been expecting you, Agent Rooks," John smirked as he moved away from the door and pressed the cold barrel of his gun against her forehead.
"Put it down," Bobby instructed calmly, appearing in the doorway that led to the alley.
"Bobby, it's been quite a long time," Nicole addressed him.
"The place is surrounded," he replied simply, keeping his gun trained on John. "Put it down."
"How did you know?" Sophie asked suddenly, trying to figure out how the man using her as a shield knew who she really was.
"I told him," came a voice from the back of the room. There stood Harris with a remorseful expression and his own gun drawn but held casually at his side.
"Not everything is what you think, Soph," he said simply before raising his gun and firing it at her.
Sophie screamed as the body holding her went limp and blood splattered across her clothes and face.
"What the fuck, Harris?" Sophie screamed.
"He was the one, he killed David."
The gunshot brought the rest of the club security and Feds running. In the confusion Nicole managed to slip out the backdoor, followed closely by Sophie who had managed to draw her gun. Bobby noticed and took off after them.
He had just reached the alley when a gunshot rang out.
