A/N: Hey guys, sorry it took so long! School is kicking my ass. This chapter is a pre-transition chapter so everything's going to get rocky pretty soon (once I find the time to write it) keep in mind, Beca's gig and the Bellas gearing up for nationals.
Also; It's funny that you all think Beca's going to break Catherine's heart and not the other way around? ; )

Beca awoke the next morning with a smile plastered on her face. Her date with Catherine had been perfect, and for the first time in a long time she couldn't wait to start her day so that she could once again end it with the amazing girl who was catapulted into her life out of nowhere.

She wasn't looking forward to returning to classes the following week but she was excited see Jesse because as much as she was hesitant to admit it, she really had missed him. Moving to LA might prove harder than she thought, especially when she thought of Chloe. She knew she was seeing Catherine currently, but she missed her best friend. It hadn't taken Chloe long to break through her emotional barriers and above all win her friendship whole heartedly and though Catherine was amazing in every single way, there was still a part of her that longed for Chloe. She had been trying to shake herself of every doubtful thought about the situation that crossed her mind but the more it crept up on her randomly, the harder it hit, and every time it did, she reminded herself that this moment in time wasn't permanent. She would soon be leaving, as well as Chloe, and leaving Catherine at that. Still, though it wasn't permanent, she wanted it to be perfect, which is why on the last night of break she stood atop the radio station with Catherine.

"How the hell did you get roof access here?" Catherine asked bewildered as she took in the sight of being able to see clear across campus. "It's amazing up here!"

"Uh, well, I don't exactly have permission to come up here. I kind of just do it." Beca said with a shrug, causing Catherine to grin.

"How rebellious of you." She teased

"Hey, I don't see you hanging out on any roof tops for fun." Beca scoffed

"I go up on the roof of my uncle's club all the time!" Catherine defended

"That doesn't count! You totally have permission to be there." Beca argued

"Whatever. A roof top is a roof top, DJ." Catherine said with an eye roll and a coy smile as she moved closer to Beca.

"See, that's where you're wrong. I think this roof top is more special than just any other roof top." Beca said as she took Catherine's hands in her own and faced her.

"Oh yeah?" Catherine asked, tilting her head to the side
"And tell me why's that?"

"Because, it just is. You know, the first week I was here at Barden, I came up here every night and mixed. When I had first gotten here I had some trouble adjusting and I wanted a different perspective than what I was used to, ya know, being on the ground and such. It totally cleared my head, and about a week later I met my best friend."

"Chloe?" Catherine asked.

Just hearing her say that name made Beca feel guilty, although she had nothing to be guilty about, it was still something she couldn't shake. As Catherine and her were getting to know one another, she had spilled the more PG version of her friendship with Chloe, though she couldn't even initiate a conversation about Catherine to Chloe.

"Yup." Beca answered simply
"And then I joined the Bellas and things fell into place and Barden ended up not being the hell I'd painted it to be."

"So this is where you come to escape from it all, huh?" Catherine asked with a soft voice, her hazel eyes fully focused on Beca.

"Yeah, this is where I go. But I'm showing it to you for a reason, Catherine." Beca told her, receiving a questioning look from Catherine. "I know we only met a week ago but you've already given me a reason to share this spot with you, literally, nobody else knows I come up here. You took me by complete surprise ya know. And I hope this doesn't throw a wrench into what we've got working for us right now, but…will you be my girlfriend?" Beca asked.

'Shit that sounded so high school of you, Beca'

Catherine's mouth was agape and Beca tried like hell to not let her nerves show, though her hands were in her back pockets, and a lump the size of a golf ball was in the thick of her throat. However, it wasn't before long that Catherine was wrapping her arms around Beca's neck and whispering 'yes' into her lips. The two remained there, exchanging soft kisses and muffled giggles as they enjoyed the embrace and each other.

And as Beca stood there with her hands firmly around Catherine's waist, lost in a moment, she couldn't remember the last time she was so completely content. Catherine had said yes, even though she knew Beca was going to LA. Beca felt relieved that there was someone out there who was willing to take a risk on her, as guarded as she was.

"I'm glad you asked me that, Bec. I really like you." Catherine told her as she rested her head upon Beca's shoulder.

"You have no idea how glad I am that you said 'yes.'" Beca said with a sigh of relief.

"Mm, why are you so surprised?" Catherine asked as she turned her head and kissed Beca softly on the neck, almost causing the DJ's legs to collapse.

"Because I know I'm going to LA at the end of the year, and I know it's going to make everything difficult, and…" Beca spoke nervously

"We'll figure it out." Catherine said simply, as Beca felt her smile into her neck.

"Yeah. We will." The DJ agreed with a smile of her own forming.

"Hey, losers!" Beca greeted Luke and Jesse as she entered the station the following afternoon. It was their first shift together after the week long break and though Beca was normally one to hide everything, she couldn't really hide her happiness to see her boys.

"It smiles!" Luke joked as he gave Beca daps while she gave Jesse a mini hug.

"I can't believe I just got a half-hug. Chloe has done wonders for your affections." He said with a wink, receiving yet another eye roll from Beca. "Speaking of which, how's Catherine?" he asked

"Wait, who's Catherine?" Luke asked as he was heading into the booth.

Beca explained the entire story of the dog tags and how she had met Catherine and how they had spent all week hanging out, including just last night when Catherine had become her girlfriend.

"Whoa, alright Becky! Nice!" Luke cheered. Jesse however, clearly wasn't as thrilled.

"She's told Catherine all about Chloe but hasn't told Chloe anything about Catherine." Jesse said, like word vomit.

"Can you stop narrating my life, please?" Beca said, giving Jesse a stern look.

"It's weird! Luke, isn't it weird that she hasn't told Chloe anything about this girl?" Jesse asked, looking to Luke for confirmation.

"Why? Do you tell all your hookups about the previous hookups?" Luke asked Jesse, as Beca high fived Luke.

'Solidarity, I like it.' Beca thought.

"C'mon you know I'm not the hookup kind of guy," Jesse explained
"Besides, Chloe isn't just a hookup. She happens to be Beca's best friend, her closest one anyways."

"Well, Jesse may have a point there…" Luke said

'Fuck you, dude!'

"But at the same time, Chloe downright refused Beca's affections. It's only natural for her to move onto someone who returns them and deserves hers." Luke finished

'Yay, I like Luke again!'

Beca nodded in agreement as Jesse just stared at the both of them.

"You do realize that although Chloe didn't want a relationship, she still has feelings for Beca, right?" Jesse said

"Regardless, Beca isn't doing anything wrong. Stop trying to make her sound like a criminal, Jesse." Luke stated as he disappeared into the booth and the two of them went back to stacking CDs.

"Seriously Jesse wasn't it you who gave me the advice to 'get over Chloe by getting under someone else?'" Beca interjected.

"I didn't actually think you'd listen! And I honestly thought that things would turn out different for you two." Jesse told her.

"You're not the only one.." Beca mumbled to herself before turning to place a record on a shelf.

Beca left the radio station with her headphones on blast, listening to the latest release from The 1975, a band that she was becoming quite obsessed with and was looking forward to using in some future mixes. Catherine had texted her earlier and told her that her uncle had asked her to work that night so she wouldn't be able to hangout and although Beca was bummed it was probably for the best since she knew she would be seeing Chloe shortly and wanted to bring up Catherine. As Beca crossed the quad she felt her headphones ripped off from behind and whipped around fully prepared to kick whoever's ass it was that would dare do that.

"Jesus Christ! Chloe! I told you not to do that. I almost kicked your ass again!" Beca exclaimed as she snatched her headphones back. Chloe just giggled, naturally.

"And I told you not to listen to your music so loud! You're going to blow your eardrums before you're 30." The ginger scolded.

"I don't even care…music is supposed to be listened to at a high volume." Beca defended, Chloe shaking her head the entire time. The two lingered for a moment before Chloe threw herself into the younger girl's arms.

"I fuckin missed you, Becs." Chloe said as she squeezed the life out of the Dj.

"I missed you too.." Beca admitted with hesitance. It was hard not to swoon over Chloe as she had once did before. She was happy to be moving on with Catherine and knew it was for the best, but she couldn't help her body's natural reaction to Chloe's touch and the feel of the ginger in her arms. "How are you feeling? How's your throat?" She asked, pulling away from the embrace.

"I'm alright, my throats fine. The doctor said I could lose some of my range because of the surgery. I only did it because I thought the Bellas were out of the competition but I guess I'm going to just roll with it." Chloe told her with a shrug.

"I have no idea how you can be so positive about something like that." Beca admitted, causing Chloe to shrug again.

"It is what it is, ya know?" She said as Beca nodded.

"So what are you up to tonight? Hanging out with devil?" Beca asked with a smirk, receiving a playful push from Chloe.

"She doesn't get back until tomorrow afternoon. I was hoping we could hang out tonight, actually." Chloe told her.

"Hell yeah, I'm down, as long as we're not going to be watching any movies this time." Beca stated.

The two started to walk in the direction Beca was heading in before.

"Afraid you might cry again, bad ass DJ Mitchell?" Chloe teased, earning a signature eye roll from Beca as a response.

"Listen, ginger, don't make me rescind my agreement to hang out with you. I'm super popular. I could easily make other plans." Beca told her sarcastically.

"Oh I know. Believe me, I'm honored that you have time to spend with me, what with your rigorous academic and social life." Chloe said in a mocking manner.

"Just as long as you know how special I am." Beca said matter of factly.

"Well, OF COURSE." Chloe said with a giggle.
"So just come over around seven, we'll order pizza and I'm sure we'll find something to do that isn't cinema related."

"Sounds like a plan." The brunette replied as she put her headphones back around her neck.

"Great! See you later, Becs." Chloe said before she walked off with the typical bounce in her step.

'This is definitely going to be interesting.' Beca thought as she proceeded to head toward her dorm.

Beca had previously expected hanging out with Chloe to be awkward, but one of the best things about Chloe is that hanging out with her regardless of the circumstances never turned out to be awkward.

"I seriously listened to your mix the entire time I was in the hospital. I even told them to play it during my surgery, for good luck. Is that lame?" Chloe asked taking a sip of her wine. The two were sprawled out on Chloe's living room floor, eating pizza and drinking wine and just overall catching up.

"I don't think it's lame. I like compiling music for people that isn't meaningless, but it can be used as background music at the same time. And not for nothing, but it was probably the best stuff those doctors have ever heard." Beca told her as she brushed off her shoulders in confidence of her ability. The laugh she earned from Chloe was enough to make her smile sincerely.

"Oh man, this album literally defined my life in highschool." Beca stated as she reached over and turned the volume up on Chloe's laptop, letting the sounds of Something Corporate blare as she bobbed her head and laid back down.

"I like that they have a lot of piano in their songs, it's my favorite instrument." Chloe told her.

"I know, right? You'd think it'd be out of the question for a pop-punk band but they definitely found a way to make it work and it's awesome." Beca added.

Chloe let out a simple sigh and looked over towards Beca.

"It feels good to be back at school. For some reason this place feels more like home than my actual home." She said.

"Why's that?" Beca asked, figuring Chloe would love being home since she came from a seemingly perfect one.

"I just feel more comfortable here. Bree is my rock, and I love the Bellas. And you…" Chloe trailed off.
"I just like it more."

"I've gotten used to it." Beca added, thinking about what Chloe had meant to say about her. Chloe sat up and leaned over to Beca.

"Can I ask you something?" She questioned as she looked intently at the brunette.

"Sure. Go for it." Beca responded casually, though her mind was anything but casual.

"Will you please come back to the Bellas?"

'Seriously!? ..well that was a letdown.'

Beca hesitated. She loved the Bellas. It was Aubrey she couldn't tolerate. And maybe the fact that she hadn't reached out to any of them since semi-finals, but then again, nobody had talked to her except Chloe.

Beca let out a frustrated sigh that she didn't really mean to expose.

"Aubrey is super talented, I don't understand why she holds herself and the group back. I know in her head it may seem best for the group, but she's hindering us all. I don' t think I could swallow my pride and come back just to embarrass ourselves at Nationals." Beca said.

"What about the group? Don't you think you should go down with the ship?" Chloe asked

"That's the captain's job." She retorted, looking over at Chloe with a smile, only to be met with a serious expression.

"..Are you questioning my loyalty?!" Beca asked suddenly, partially offended.

"I just wanted to know how you felt." Chloe stated, shaking her head.
"We need you if we want to have a shot. I'm going to convince Aubrey that we need to change things, but the only way to do it is with your help."

"I don't know. You honestly think you can change her mind?" Beca questioned.

"I'm going to try. But I need to know you're on board because you're the secret component that can take our sound to new levels." Chloe told her. All the compliments in the world from Chloe didn't really make her feel any better about groveling in front of Aubrey.

"I'll think about it." Beca told her flatly.

"You do that." Chloe teased at the DJ's angst.
