Emily's P.O.V
I step out of the shower and grab my towel off the towel rack and start to dry my hair. I get it so its mostly dry and start to dry the rest of my body. I hang the towel over the curtain rod and look in the mirror. I look down at the scar on my breast and gently touch the marred skin. Tears spring to my eyes. I don't have any idea how JJ can be okay with it. I can't even be okay with it. Maybe she could help me. No. You're a Prentiss. You're supposed to be strong. Don't think about it. If you don't think about it, it's not there. It doesn't exist. I move my hand away from the scar and look away from it.
I grab my clothes off the lid of the toilet seat and put them on and walk out of the bathroom and into JJ's room. I walk over to my bag and grab my hair brush and brush it back into a ponytail. I put my socks on and walk over to the bedroom door. I take a deep breath and open the door and walk into the kitchen, where Sandy is just finishing doing dishes. "I would have helped you with that Sandy." I say. She smiles. "Now we can start baking sooner." She says. I laugh. "Okay. Is there anything I can do?" I ask. She shakes her head. "You can try one of the cookies I made last night after everyone went to bed." She says, handing me the cookie jar. "You made cookies?" I ask. She nods. "Sometimes when I can't sleep I like to come out here and bake." She says. I nod and take a cookie. "Peanut butter chocolate chip?" I ask. She nods. I smile and take a bite. "These are amazing Sandy." I say. She laughs. "I do my best baking at three in the morning." She says. I smile and take another bite of the cookie as she puts the last of the plates away.
She walks over to the freezer and pulls out a pie crust and what I'm guessing goes on top of the pie and turns back to me. "So, I'm a little bit of a cheater. Oh well. Nobody needs to know." She says with a laugh. I smile and finish off the cookie. "Okay. Preheat the oven to four-twenty-five. I cut and peeled the apples last night while the cookies were baking, they're in the fridge. Could you get those? Oh and there should be some lemon juice on the door that we need also." She asks. I nod and walkover to the fridge. Luckily for me they're basically on the top shelf so I don't have to bend over to far to reach them. I grab the bowl and put it on the island. "Apples and lemon juice." I say. "Now we need sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg." She says as she walks around the kitchen gathering ingredients. "You have this all memorized?" I ask. She nods. "Yep. I also have the recipe card that you can copy after we're finished." She says. I laugh. "Okay, good." I say.
"Can you grab me the big mixing bowl? It's in the top cupboard." Sandy asks. I nod. "I can try." I say. I walk over and open the cupboard and reach up for the bowl and cry out in pain and grab my side. "Emily!" Sandy drops the nutmeg on the floor and rushes over to me. "Are you okay Emily?" She asks. "Do you want me to go get Jenny?" I shake my head. "No Sandy. I'm okay, I promise. I just wasn't expecting that when I reached up. I'm okay." I say looking up at her. "Alright, if you're sure." She says. I nod. "I'm sure." I say. I turn around and reach and grab the bowl. I set it down on the counter. "I'm okay." I say. She nods, but still looks a little unconvinced.
She walks over to the drawer and grabs the measuring spoons. "We have six cups of Granny Smith apples. We pour those into the bowl, then we need three quarter cups of sugar." She says as she pours the sugar into the measuring cup, then pours it into the bowl. "Two tablespoons of flour. A table spoon of cinnamon, a quarter teaspoon of salt, an eighth teaspoon of nutmeg, and a tablespoon of lemon juice." She says. I walk around and sit on a stool at the island and she looks up at me. "You okay?" She asks. "Yeah, I just can't stand too much yet. Still hurts a little." I say. She nods. "Alright." She says as she mixes the ingredients. "Could you unwrap the crusts?" She asks. I nod and reach over and bring them towards me and start unwrapping them. "What made you start to enjoy cooking? Jenny's talked about you hundreds of times and she's never mentioned that you like to cook." She says. "She didn't know. Nobody really does. My mother is an ambassador and she wasn't really around much when I was a kid to teach me this sort of thing, but she always had a chef. So I used to go in and watch and help them. I guess it became my getaway. Whenever I was mad or upset I would cook." I say. She nods. "I'm sorry your mother was like that." She says. I shrug. "It's fine. I got over it a long time ago." I say. She nods. "What about your father?" She asks. "I guess I never really knew him. He was always with my mother and then he left when I was about thirteen. I guess he couldn't handle my mothers job anymore." I say. "I'm sorry." She says. "The way I see it is, if he couldn't stay, for me at least, he's not a person I really want to know." I say. She nods. "I see your point. But he's still your father. Have you ever thought about contacting him?" She asks. I nod. "Yeah I have." I say. "So what's stopping you?" She asks. I shrug. "I'm not sure." I say.
"Slide me the pie crust please." Sandy says. I slide the pie crust across the counter and watch as she pours the filling into the crust. "Okay, so we pour the filling into the crust and then put the other crust on top and wrap the edges in tin foil so they don't get too brown." She says. I nod and watch as she slide the pie into the oven. "And bake it for about forty minutes." She says as she sets the timer on the microwave.
JJ's P.O.V
I sit down on the grass across from Josh and Jesse and laugh. "Two against one and I still won. How do you guys manage to be so horrible at this?" I say. Josh shrugs. "If we challenged you to actual football, you'd lose." He says. I laugh and nod. "Yeah, I probably would." I say.
"So when were you planning to tell me that I'm going to be an aunt Jesse?" I ask. "I was gonna call you, but then I got busy. But I'm telling you now." He says with his innocent little smirk. I laugh. "Uh huh." I say. He smiles. "Do you guys know the sex?" I ask. He nods. "It's a boy." He says. I smile. "Have you guys thought of any names?" I ask. "Hailey wants to name him after me." He says. I laugh. "Oh god. Another Jesse Jareau? I don't know if the world can handle that." I say. "Hey! I'm not that bad!" He yells. I laugh again. "Okay, you weren't that bad. What about you? What do you wanna name him?" I ask. "Marcus." He says. "Just Marcus? No middle name?" I ask. He shakes his head. "I haven't gotten that far yet." He says. I nod. "I like Marcus." I say. He laughs. "What about you and Emily? You thinking of kids?" He asks. "Dude we got together like six days ago." I say. "Seriously?" Josh asks. I nod. "We thought it had been longer. You guys just kinda seem like you've been together forever." He says. I smile. "I've never felt this way guys. About anyone." I say. They both nod. "You seem happy." Josh says. I nod. "I am." I say. "We're happy for you bear." Jesse says. I smile. "Thanks guys." I say.
"So what about you Josh? Anybody in your bed these days?" I ask. Josh smiles a little bit. "Who is she?" I ask. He shrugs and looks away from me. "Oh you must really like her if you're not bragging about how hot she is." I say. "He name is Kayla." He says. "What's she like?" I ask. He looks back up at me for a second. "She's great. She's a pediatric surgeon." He says. I smile. "That's awesome. How long have you guys been seeing each other?" I ask. He shrugs. "Seven months?" He says. "And you didn't tell your big sister?" I say. He shakes his head. "I wanted to see if it was gonna work out." He says. I nod. "I get it." I say. He nods. "Can we talk about something else now?" He asks. I laugh. "Yeah sure dork." I say.
"Emily seems kind of closed off, I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but she seems a little secretive." Josh says. Jesse nods in agreement. "Some stuff happened a while back with an old enemy. And I guess she hasn't really been in a relationship for a while, so I'm trying to get her to open up to me, and it's been working a little bit. She's just scared." I say. Josh nods. "That's good bear. I like her." Jesse says. I smile. "Me too." I say. Josh laughs. "Well you brought her home. I should hope you like her." He says. I laugh. "Yeah I guess you're right." I say.
I feel a sharp pain in my stomach and wince. "You okay bear?" Jesse asks. I nod. "Yeah. I'll be right back." I say, standing up and jogging into the house. Emily turns when I open the door. "You okay?" She asks. I nod and walk past her. I turn the corner into the hallway and walk into my bedroom and sit down on the bed, holding my stomach. I hear the door open and look up to see Emily. "Jennifer, what's wrong baby?" She asks. I shake my head. "It's nothing." I say. I wince again and tears spring to my eyes. "It's not nothing. Please, tell me what's wrong." Emily says, sitting down next to me. "It's just cramps. They've always been really bad." I say. She nods. "Do you have anything for the pain?" She asks. I shake my head. "Have you told your doctor?" She asks. I nod. "And she hasn't done anything for you?" She asks. I shake my head again. "Okay, come here. I wanna try something. It used to help me." She says. "Okay." I say. She smiles a little bit and lays down on the bed and opens her arms. "Come here." She says. I push myself backwards and lay down in her arms. "I'm gonna put some pressure on your stomach and it's gonna hurt for a minute, but the heat should help you feel better." She says. I nod. "Please." I say.
She wraps her arms around me and I gasp at the pain. "I know baby. And as soon as we get home I'm taking you to the doctor and we're getting something to help you." She says. I nod. "Okay." I say.
"Em?" I ask. I feel her nod behind me. "Yeah?" She says. "How did you know this would help?" I ask. "What do you mean?" She asks. "Who used to do this for you?" I ask. "Derek." She says. "Morgan?" I ask. She nods again. "Yep." She says. "Did you sleep with him?" I ask. "What?" She says. "Did you sleep with Morgan?" I ask again. She shakes her head. "God no. He's like my brother." I say. "Then how did he do this for you?" I ask. "He saw the tears in my eyes one day and he followed me into the janitor's closet to find out what was wrong. He used to do it to one of his girlfriends. Apparently he asked Reid about it and this is what he said might help." She says. "So you didn't have sex with him?" I ask. She shakes her head. "I did not have sex with him. He helped me with my pain until I could get an appointment with my doctor, which took about six months by the way." She says. "What did your doctor give you?" I ask. "He put me on birth control." She says. "And it helped?" I ask. She nods. "Yeah, a lot." She says. I nod and close my eyes.
"Ouch." I say quietly. "What's wrong?" Emily asks. "Pain." I say. She nods. "Where baby?" She asks. "My breast." I whisper and turn my head into the pillow. "Okay." She says. She brings her hand up and starts to massage my breast. I groan. "What are you doing?" I ask. She snuggles into my back a bit more. "It helps, trust me." She says. "And the answer to your next question is yes, Derek has had his hands on my chest." She says. I roll over. "He's what?! Are you kidding me Emily!?" I yell. "Hey! Jennifer, lower your voice. He helped me. I promise, we have never had sex, and he has never seen me naked. Okay? Why are you so worried about Morgan?" She asks. "Because you were straight Emily. Until me, you liked guys. You had sex with guys. And he's hot, Emily. He's hot and so are you, and he obviously likes you. Like more than a friend. You've always been straight. You've always had sex with guys. And now there's me. I just don't want this to be some sort of trial thing for you, because you've never done this before." I say. "I just don't want to get hurt again." I say quietly, looking away from her.
Emily's P.O.V
She doesn't want to get hurt again. Who's hurt her before. "Yeah. Morgan's hot. He's really hot. And I like to think I look pretty good, if you pretend the scars aren't there. And yeah I've always been with guys and I've never been with a woman before, but Jennifer, this isn't just a trial thing for me." I say, leaning forward to kiss her. She wraps her arms around me and kisses me back, her tongue swiping across my lower lip. I moan and pull her closer. "I love you." I say. She pulls back. "You're beautiful Em. The scars don't matter to me." She says. Yeah right. Scars matter to everybody. I look away from her. She puts her hand underneath my chin ad tilts my head up to look at her. "Take off your shirt." She says. "What?" I ask. "Take off your shirt." She says again. "Why?" I ask. "Trust me Emily." She says. I nod. "I trust you." I say quietly.
She slides over to the left side of the bed and I sit up and take my shirt off and lay down on my back. "Bra too Em." She says as she touches my arm gently. I nod and take off my sports bra and lay back down. "You okay?" She asks. I nod and she moves to straddle my thighs. "You're gorgeous." She says as she cups my breasts. She runs her thumbs over my nipples and my breath catches. "Jennifer what are you doing?" I ask. She shakes her head. "Nothing." She says. She slides down my thighs a little bit and looks at the four leaf clover on my breast. "Jennifer." I whisper. She looks up at me and smiles a little bit. She moves her hands to my rib cage. "It's okay." She says. She looks back down at the scar on my chest before leaning down and kissing it gently. Tears spring to my eyes and a wrap my arms around JJ. "You're so beautiful." JJ says as she moves her hands back to my breasts and kisses me again. "The scar doesn't make me think any less of you. It doesn't make you ugly. You're beautiful." She says. "Okay." I say. "Okay?" She asks. I nod. "That's about as good as I can do right now." I say. She nods and moves off me and hands me back my bra. "I kind of love your boobs. Just thought you should know." She says as I lift my arms to put the bra back on.
JJ's P.O.V
I watch as Emily starts to put her bra back on and stop her as she lifts her arms. "You have a tattoo." I say as I reach out and run my fingers over the angel wings. "I have three." She says. "When did you get this one?" I ask. "In Paris. After Doyle. Actually, if you go in the front pocket of my bag, there's a small blacklight. Can you bring it to me?" She asks. I nod and walk over and unzip the pocket and grab the small light. I walk back over and sit down on the bed. "Turn it on and put it over the bottom of the wingtips." She says. I do as she tells me. I gasp and tears spring to my eyes. Under the wings I see:
Jennifer
Written under them in invisible ink. "I figured if I couldn't have you, this was as close as I would get." She says. "You saved my life Jennifer. In more ways than one." I wrap my arms around her and kiss her. "I love you." I say. She smiles. "I love you too." She says.
"What other tattoos do you have?" I ask. She laughs and pulls down the top of her jeans and shows me her hip. "Per avere successo nella vita hai bisogno di due cose: l'ignoranza e la fiducia." I say. "What language is that?" I ask. "Italian." She says. "What does it say?" I ask. "To succeed in life you need two things: ignorance and confidence." She says.
"What's the third tattoo?" I ask. She sits up and brings her foot up and shows me the small footprint tattoo on top of her foot. "It's mine. I got them when I was with Doyle the first time, as a reminder that I still had a life that didn't involve Doyle, I guess." She says. I nod.
"Lay with me for another few minutes?" I ask. She nods and lays back down and opens her arms. I lay down and smile. "I love you Em." I say. She tightens her hold on me. "I love you too." She says.
