Everything was a blur. Beca couldn't remember how she got to the hospital or how long it took, but here she was, sprinting through the automatic doors of the ER frantically searching the waiting room for Aubrey.

"Beca!" She heard her name called and the blonde's panicked voice brought her from her dazed state to reality.

"What happened, where's Chloe?" Beca asked as the frantic blonde pulled her away from the entry way.

"Jesse, her and I left the party and she was really drunk. We got her home and she wasn't responsive at all. Her eyes were rolling in the back of her head, she was cold, and her breathing was shallow." Aubrey explained, shaking the entire time. "I called the paramedics right away. She drank way too much tonight Beca, I think it's alcohol poisoning."

Beca just stared at Aubrey in disbelief. She had heard about alcohol poisoning, but had never experienced it or saw someone go through it. She always just figured you passed out and came to when your body was finished processing the alcohol. Chloe usually handled her liquor well, her tolerance was high. Beca couldn't wrap her head around it.

"Is she gonna be okay? Have you talked to any of the doctors?" Beca asked.

"I don't know...and no, I've been waiting here with no word since we arrived. I'm scared something is seriously wrong." Aubrey told her, choking back a sob.

"Jesus." Beca breathed out, her legs suddenly feeling like they were going to give out on her. She found the closest chair and collapsed in it, putting her head in her hands. Chloe had quickly become the most important person in her life, not that she had many options to choose from before. If anything happened to her, she didn't know what she'd do. While she began to freak out internally, Aubrey interrupted her thoughts.

"I need to go call Chloe's parents. I'll be right back." Aubrey told her, trying to gain some composure as she dug through her purse for her phone.

"You called me first?" Beca asked, bewildered.

"Well, yeah. You're Chloe's other person and I was panicked!" Aubrey said. Beca just nodded as Aubrey went outside to call Chloe's parents. She didn't know how long Aubrey had been here, probably almost 2 hours by now. She spotted a nurses station and got up, quickly approaching it.

"Excuse me; I really need to know what's going on with my friend. I need to call her parents." Beca said to the nurse who was nose deep in charts and glared at her as she spoke.

"The ER nurse working on your friend will come inform you when she has time." The nurse told her in an unpleasant tone.

"No, this is ridiculous, I need to know what's going on now, it's been two hours!" Beca demanded, fear and panic surging through her with every passing second of uncertainty pertaining to Chloe's health.

"You will be informed by the ER nurse when she is available." The woman bit out once again.

"Why can't you just go see what's happening?" Beca asked, getting annoyed.

"That's not my job." The woman replied.

"You're a god damn nurse you're supposed to help and comfort people, why do you even work ere then?!" Beca screamed.

"Whoa! Beca!" Aubrey said as she pulled on Beca's arm, beckoning her away from the nurse's station.

"This is fuckin' bullshit!" Beca told her as she ripped her arm back from her grasp.

"I know it's taking a lot of time but that's just how it is. You can't yell at the staff. They're trying to do their jobs. That charge nurse doesn't know who or where Chloe even is probably. You need to tone it down." Aubrey told her.

Beca huffed out an incoherent reply and exited through the ER doors, taking a seat on a bench under the ambulance port. She promptly pulled out a pack of cigarettes and lit one up, taking a long slow drag and exhaling immediately, desperately trying to calm her nerves.

"You smoke?" Aubrey asked with disgust as she came outside to find Beca.

"Only if I'm stressed. Or drunk." Beca replied. Aubrey scrunched up her nose.

"It's horrible for your voice."

"So are dairy products, have you given up cheese and yogurt for your voice?" Beca shot back bitterly. Aubrey rolled her eyes and sat next to Beca. The two sat in silence for a moment before Beca spoke.

"Why do you think she drank so much?"

"It could've been an accident. She usually handles herself pretty well. Then again, she could've been upset and just over did it. The only times I can remember her getting really wasted were when she was upset over a relationship...or sophomore year when she failed her first class." Aubrey explained.

"She seemed fine that her and Tom were done...and she's got a 4.0 this semester. It doesn't make any sense." Beca told her

"Pretty sure Tom isn't the brunette she's upset over..." Aubrey mumbled.

"What?" Beca asked, not hearing what Aubrey had said.

"Nothing. Chloe's been a little off lately but it happens to all of us. She was probably just having too much fun." Aubrey said.

"...You don't think someone put something in her drink, do you? I could've sworn she was beside the Bella's all night." Beca asked.

Aubrey shook her head. "The only guy she was hanging with was Jesse. And even though he is a Treble, I don't think he'd even be capable of something like that." Aubrey replied.

Beca sighed, taking a final drag from her cigarette before extinguishing it.

"What did her parents say?" Beca asked quietly as she looked up at the sky.

"They didn't answer. It's late. I'm sure once they hear the message, they'll be freaking out. She's the baby of the family, ya know?"

Beca just nodded in reply and stood up, figuring it would be best to wait inside now that she had cooled off. The two made their way inside and took two seats right by the nurses' station, their eyes not leaving the door to the ER for a second.

After another hour and a half that seemed more like days, a young petite nurse with dirty blonde hair made her way over to the nurses' station. "Chloe Beale?" She announced, looking around.

Beca and Aubrey jumped right up.

"Is she okay!?" Beca blurted out

"We're her friends, I called the paramedics." Aubrey elaborated.

The young nurse just smiled. "Thank God you did," she began. "That girl drank enough for 4 marines tonight. Pretty bad case of alcohol poisoning. We pumped her stomach and sedated her so she'd be more comfortable, it's not a pleasant experience. She's knocked out cold, but I'll take you to see her?" She offered. The two quickly consented and followed the nurse behind the ER doors and into a semi-closed off room in a corner, with nothing but a curtain separating them from another patient.

Chloe was asleep and she looked like hell. She was pale and her hair was a mess. She was hooked up to a few noisy machines and she had an IV in her arm. It was hard for Beca to see Chloe laying there so lifeless. It wasn't the way Beca was used to seeing her when she slept. Chloe was always so warm and bubbly; she even smiled in her sleep. Beca swallowed hard before returning her attention to Aubrey and the nurse briefly discussing Chloe.

"We're keeping her for the rest of the night so we can observe her and give her some rest. She's going to feel like hell when she wakes up." The nurse explained as Aubrey just nodded. Beca turned back to Chloe, walking over to her and tenderly brushed her hair out of her face, tucking it behind her ear.

"They're moving her to ICU in a bit. Since Chloe's family most likely won't be here until tomorrow, the nurse said one of us could stay the night with her. I promise to call you when she wakes up or if something happens." Aubrey said as she took Chloe's hand in hers.

"Wait, what? Why do you get to stay?" Beca asked.

"Aca-seriously!? I'm her best friend and her co-captain, for the last 4 years I might add. I know you guys are close but I'm pretty sure she'd want me to be the one here." Aubrey told her sternly.

"I am NOT leaving her." Beca said defiantly as she stared daggers into Aubrey's gaze.

"All things considered, it's probably best if you did." Aubrey spat back.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Beca asked.

"It means you have a girlfriend, and it's not Chloe! I'm pretty sure Chloe drank so much to numb the jealousy and heartache that for some reason you love causing her!"

"You're joking right? First of all, Chloe caused me heartache too! It's a messed up situation but we're fine. We're friends regardless and she doesn't have a problem with Catherine, if she did, she'd tell me. So that theory just sounds like some more bullshit you made up in your head to just put yet another thing against me!" Beca said defensively.

"You're either a dumb ass or you're oblivious, and I'm assuming it's the latter. You two can't possibly believe that things can be fine with all the feelings constantly involved. You guys fight all the time and neither of you are truly okay with any resolution that comes about. No, you two are terrible for each other. It'll be a relief when this year is over and we're in New York and there's no more Bechloe drama!" Aubrey lectured.

'bechloe!? What the fuck?'

"Whatever, Aubrey. You can have your opinion but it doesn't mean shit. To say I'm the reason Chloe is in the hospital is fucked up and you know it. If you don't call me when she wakes up, I will personally rip out your vocal chords, not wolves." Beca told The blonde.

Beca walked over to Chloe and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead while Aubrey crossed her arms and rolled her eyes, but Beca didn't care. She cared about Chloe.

"I'll see you later." Beca said bitterly as she left the ER and headed back to Barden via cab.

Beca was exhausted by the time she reached her dorm. It was around 5AM and the sun was just about to come up. Climbing the stairs to her room took all of her effort and strength and she wasn't at all prepared for the sight that she walked into. Catherine was lying in her bed, curled up in a ball, wearing the DJ's hoodie. Beca couldn't help but smile, but it immediately fell when she remembered what they had last discussed just moments before she rushed to the hospital. She looked to her left to see Kimmy Jin's bed vacant. (Seriously...where does she even go!?)

Beca walked over to her bed and gently rubbed Catherine's shoulder. The brunette stirred and subconsciously scooted over, not opening her eyes until she felt the bed dip and the DJ climb in next to her. She turned and looked at Beca, barely opening her eyes.

"How's Chloe?" She mumbled sleepily.

"She's...she's okay. Alcohol poisoning." Beca replied with a sigh.

"Hmm, that sucks." Catherine let out, her voice indicating that she was falling back into slumber. Beca turned to face her, brushing some hair out of her face as she did.

"I know I have a lot of explaining to do, and I promise you I will. Can you just promise to hear me out all the way?" Beca whispered nervously as Catherine's eyes fluttered upon hearing her voice.

"I will." She answered flatly. "Can we just sleep now?"

"Of course. Thanks for...thanks for being here for me." Beca said with little relief knowing the later conversation could seriously change their relationship, or quite possibly end it.

Catherine just breathed out in comfort as Beca snuggled into her bed, hoping this wasn't the last time they'd have this.

"You better tell me the truth, Beca. No bullshit." Her girlfriend warned her as she handed her a cup of coffee. The two were sitting privately outside of Brewed Awakenings as Beca tried to collect her thoughts and find the right words to start this conversation. She tugged on her beanie and took a sip of her coffee as she looked at Catherine. The previous night's sleep hadn't done much for Beca. Her mind was fuzzy and she hadn't yet received any word from Aubrey which was pissing her off to no end, surely Chloe must be awake by now since it was nearing noon. She shook those thoughts from her head and tried to focus on the task at hand; Catherine. Explaining. Chloe.

"Okay, well…um. You already know Chloe was my first real friend here, besides Jesse anyways and well I developed feelings for her and like an idiot I told her about them." Beca told her. Taking a moment of silence before proceeding, because HELL, even saying that had just taken a lot out of her. Beca not being one for words and feelings and all that, the above statement was pretty big.

"Okay…did she not reciprocate? Did she use you? Did you guys hook up? Is that it?" Catherine asked aggressively.

"No, there's more, just let me get it all together in my head, okay?" Beca pleaded. Catherine let out a sigh and leaned back in her chair.
"She, uh, feels or um felt the same way. But she's leaving and I'm leaving and we pretty much decided that it wasn't worth pursuing. But we kissed a few times…nothing more, just a lot of bickering and emotions. But we've agreed to get back to being best friends because we're…we need each other. We have a connection and we can't not be in each other's life." Beca further explained. Catherine just stared at her, taking it all in.

"You guys only kissed a couple of times? Nothing more?" She questioned. The DJ nodded as she looked down and fiddled with her coffee cup cover. This was so awkward.

"This all happened before I met you. I literally met you and my world stopped and literally began to revolve around you." Beca nervously spoke, causing Catherine to blush and smile.

"It's not that I don't believe you Bec…I just have reservations about this whole thing. I've been cheated on before and I have no right to tell you who you should or shouldn't hangout with but it's going to make me feel uneasy every time you're alone with Chloe now."

"Catherine, I'd never cheat on you. My dad…he did that shit to my mom and I don't condone it nor would I ever pull that shit. And you have every right to feel the way you do, but you trust me, right?" Beca asked.

"Of course I trust you. I never said you'd cheat per se. I just know the feeling of having someone else being picked over me, that's all." Catherine said with a sad tone, which made Beca's heart melt. "I've seen the way Chloe looks at you, and sometimes how you look at her…do you guys still have feelings for each other?" Catherine asked.

"What? I told you, we're trying to be best friends again. I'm with YOU, I want YOU. You two are both the closest people to me…I can't help the way I look sometimes." Beca explained honestly. Catherine was quiet for a moment.

"Does she still have feelings for you?" Catherine asked.

"No…I don't…I'm not sure. But even if she did…you're my girlfriend. She's my best friend. There's lines drawn, Catherine." Beca explained. Catherine hesitated, and looked pretty uneasy upon hearing what Beca had said.
"What can I do to make you feel better about this?" Beca asked, taking Catherine's hands in her own and looking deep into her eyes.

"What do you want me to say? I don't want to be a bitch Beca, I really don't." Catherine told her.

"Fuck that, I don't care. Be a bitch. Just tell me!" Beca pleaded.

"I get that you guys hangout…that's fine. Can you just like, not have any more sleepovers?" Catherine said. "Oh Jesus Christ. That sounded so lame." The brunette said as she shoved her head in her hands, causing Beca to laugh.

"It was lame," Beca agreed with a laugh.
"But I don't care. No more sleepovers." The DJ added.

"Really?" Catherine asked, beyond embarrassed and Beca nodded in response.

"Are we okay now?" Beca asked as she stood up and reached her hand out to hold Catherine's.

"We are. Thank you for being honest, and not hating me." Catherine told her.

"You're such a girl." Beca said with an eye roll and a smirk as Catherine leaned in to kiss it right off her face.
