"I will be watching every move you make Mrs. Gerald and if you decided to betray me or my family I will be there to hunt you down …" Elijah whispered.
Caroline leaned in to his ear. She grabbed the dagger from the side of her boot. She plunged it into his heart. Elijah hissed. "I would never hurt you or your family but I will not tolerate your hands on me again." Caroline said smirking. She flashed out of the bar before the consequences of her actions followed her home.
Chapter 10
Caroline flashed away from the scene. She shook her head. She needed to clear her head. She needed to get Elijah off her back. He was already having her followed. This could not stay this way. She had to find a way around him. She couldn't have him find out the truth before Klaus knew. She owed her daughter that and so much more. She needed to give word to Davina but in order to do that she needed to find Klaus. Dread filled her inside out.
Marcel was sitting in the back of Greta's. Diego had walked over and handed Marcel over the monthly financial reports.
"Diego what is all the ruckus out there?"
"Its your wife…" Diego said rolling his eyes.
Marcel looked up and smirked. "What did you say?"
"Your wifey just stabbed Elijah…" Diego said as he frowned at the smirking vampire.
Marcel got up and flashed deep into the dance floor. He stood by the edge of the bar. He looked at the gorgeous blond flash out of the bar.
Elijah leaned back on the chair. He pulled the dagger out of his chest. He took the dagger out staring at the engravings. There were thematic symbols on them.
"Elijah, what the hell happened?" Rebekah shrieked. She placed her hands on her hips. "Elijah…"
"It seems I was stabbed by Mrs. Gerald. " Elijah said as he read the symbols in the blade.
"What I'll kill her!" Rebekah said. shouting.
"What? Who stabbed you?" Stefan said frowning slightly.
"Stefan…I know she's your friend but this means war." Rebekah said frowning at the bewildered look on Stefan's face.
"Rebekah there has to be a reason. What did you do Elijah?" Stefan said stepping in front of Elijah.
Elijah got up in a flash. "What exactly are you implying?"
"You…you have been in her face since day one taunting her…compelling her…threatening her…why did she stab you? What did you do to Caroline?" Stefan said through clenched teeth.
"What is he talking about mate?" Klaus said as he eyed Elijah grabbing Rippah by the collar of his dark blue bottom down shirt.
Elijah looked at Niklaus and then at Stefan. " Mr. Salvatore is defending the actions of his ill advised blond friend. "
"Stefan what is going on?" Klaus asked in a low growl. He waited for an answer. They both stood in a stand still.
"Nik…Caroline stabbed Elijah in the chest…" Rebekah finally said. "When I catch the blond bitch I will tear her from limb to limb…"
"Now Bekah…you know that one of my rules are to not kill those of my inner circle…" Marcel said as he flashed from the shadows.
"Marcellus no one will harm Caroline…isn't that right brother…." Klaus said as his yellow eyes stalked his brothers pompous glare.
Marcel smirked at the tension between the originals. He had to give it to Carrie she was doing her best to drive a wedge. His girl. He was almost proud.
"Of course not Marcellus…" Elijah said lightly. He released his grip on Stefan's collar. He wiped the microscopic lint that offended the integrity of his suit.
Marcel smirked. "I hope so. We have a long history…it would be a shame if all of that love and respect disappears because boundaries have been crossed…" Marcel looked on curiously at the group of vampires in front of him.
Diego walked in front of Marcel suddenly. "Boss…there's a little problem in the bayou…"
Marcel nodded. " Are you alright here? Elijah? Klaus?"
"Marcellus this seems to be a family matter…" Klaus said as tactful as possible.
"Alright then. I shall leave you to it…Diego…" Marcel said briefly to Klaus before walking towards Diego.
Klaus waited for Marcellus to leave before he approached Elijah. " Brother…what happened…"
Elijah opened the button to his suit jacket. "I was just explaining to Mrs. Gerald my doubts to her honorable intentions. I also informed her that when and if she decides to betray us I will be there…"
"What? Why would you do that?" Stefan said jumping in. He was livid.
"Because I can and will protect my family at all cost…" Elijah said sternly.
"Be careful Elijah…we have a lot more to lose then your precious pride. " Klaus said stepping in front of Elijah. He narrowed his eyes smirking at his affront brother.
"Hey…hey we are all on the same side…" Stefan said stepping forward.
"Rippah why don't you go take Rebekah brother needs some time to lick his wounds…" Klaus said not taking his eyes away from Elijah.
"Are you sure?" Stefan asked.
"Yes…I'll go make sure Caroline is alright." Klaus said.
Stefan gave Klaus a quick affirmation before he flashed away.
Caroline flashed into a hooded area near the bayou. She stopped near a circe of trees in a small patch of swampy water. Caroline stopped and stared into the dark green water. She paused for a second and saw a group of mosquitos buzzing around. Caroline smiled they always seemed to fly in a group. One stray fly can not survive without their group, nest their family. Caroline closed her eyes. Family. She was supposed to be strong her family depended on it. Where had things got so out of control? When did she lose her will to be get things done? What was she going to do to fix things ?
She opened her eyes. The skin behind her neck started to dance. She knew he was standing near her. His scent was everywhere . The scent of masculinity, arrogance, and sex.
"Caroline..."
Caroline rolled her eyes. She hated the fact that he didn't have to say anything other than her name before her body started to respond. Her palms were already sweaty, her heart was starting to pound , her breath was straining for relief. She turned around slowly. "Klaus..."
Klaus eyes were ice cold. He clenched his jaw. He needed to maintain control. This woman unnerved him in every way. He knew she could not get away with what she did but one word from her and it was all over. He froze almost paralyzed with tension. Every muscle in his body contracted.
Caroline sighed. This was not going to be good. His cold stare penetrated every inch of her epidermis. She waited for him to say something...anything...she had to hold her ground.
"Caroline give me one reason…"
"One reason for what…Klaus?" Caroline said with a short smile.
Klaus saw her sweet smile and ignored it. She was not going to distract him."One reason why I shouldn't kill you where you stand?" Klaus said in a low hush. Every syllable tickled his ensnarled nostrils.
Caroline stepped forward. She licked her lips slowly. She saw the fury in his eyes, she had to admit it excited her. " Are you going to kill me Niklaus…?"
Klaus grinned. He laced his hands behind his back. He studied the look of amusement on her face. She looked so innocent even when she was being deceitful. "Caroline you are trying my patience. " Klaus growled. He felt a flicker of rage reflect in his darken irises.
She listened to a soft wind that blew throughout the hot night sky. Caroline listened to the rustling of the trees. A small speck of a leaf flew around the crown of his head. Caroline's eyes followed its path. She raised her hands and grabbed the small peck of green from his golden grabbed he arm pulling her closer to him. His grin vanished being replaced with a colder deadlier stance.
Caroline opened her eyes wide. Her chest was pounding uncontrollably. She was struggling to find her breath. Her mouth was a hair away form his. "What did I do now?" She whispered.
Klaus eyes followed every inch of her lips. They were begging to be dominated. He leaned in and grazed his lips softly on top of hers. She kept her eyes on his. He kept his grip on her arm. "Caroline…"
He said as he whispered in her shoulder. "Why did you do it?"
Caroline felt his breath tickle her ear. She bit the side of her cheek. He was acting too cold for his actions to be anything other than a ploy for intel. He twisted her arm behind her back. He stepped behind her slowly loosening his grip on her arm slowly. He kissed the side of her neck slowly. She closed her eyes sighing softly. She leaned in searching for a deeper kiss.
Klaus used his other hand and reached behind him. He pulled the dagger out slowly. He lifted his head and leaned in close to her ear.
He heard her pulse race. She leaned in closer to his back needing to get closer to his skin. She listened to his heart beat just a little faster. Her lips pressed his collarbone. She felt him shudder for a moment. She kissed his neck licking every inch of his neck.
Klaus clenched his teeth trying to suppress a groan. He needed to get information. Her mouth was scorching his skin it was saturating his senses. She needed to answer his questions it was unavoidable. He tightened his hold on Caroline. He placed the dagger under her throat. She opened her eyes and grit her teeth. " Klaus…?" She looked at the piece of steel under her throat. It was the silver dagger that was embedded in Elijah's chest. The dagger was still covered with Elijah's blood. Part of the blade was starting to dry already. Shades of dark and light red reflected in the light of the moon. He turned the blade admiring the inscriptions. "Does this jog your memory, love?" His eyes remained on the lovely blond.
Caroline looked at the dagger and then at the deadly hybrid behind her. She took a deep breath. She had to face the music. "What do you want to know?"
"Why did you stab my brother?"
Caroline rolled her eyes. "I… I stabbed your brother because I got tired of him sneaking around talking to the witches behind my back trying to find out information about me and Sophie…I got tired of the nasty accusation and his questioning my integrity when his isn't without fault…I got tired of being compelled to answer questions that are neither his concern or does it concern anyone else except…" Caroline bit her lip. She had to control her mouth. She saw a look of curiosity on the hybrid's face.
"What did you say Caroline?" Klaus said as his grip on Caroline turned her forcefully around. She winced slightly. She stepped out of Klaus embrace. He had a crazed look on his face. "What did Elijah compel you to do?" He said clenching his jaw. He placed his hands on her shoulders.
Caroline tried to look away. She felt Klaus' hand under her chin bringing her face towards his. She closed her eyes tight. She felt her body react to his touch. She had to focus on the rational voice in her head. "He…"
"Caroline…" Klaus growled.
"He wanted me to answer some questions…he didn't believe the answers so he compelled them out of me." Caroline said through clenched teeth. She hated being weak in front of him. It made her crazy. She didn't want to show him how easily she could become his. It made her a little sick to her stomach.
"What questions….love?" Klaus said turning his head. He was fascinated with the way her body changed. She was closed off when a few minutes prior she was enchanting. There was a sweet longing look on her face. He wished she just let him in a little bit. She was holding on to something. Something that made her
hide even from him. "What is it that your hiding, Caroline?"
"Am I interrupting anything?"
Caroline looked towards the voice and rolled her eyes. "Marcel…"
Klaus quickly put the dagger back into his back pocket. "Marcellus what can I do for you?" He looked toward his protege and revulsion filled him. He wanted to crush him where he stood.
Caroline walked towards Marcel. " What are you doing here Marcel?" She crossed her arms over her chest.
Marcel smirked. "You know exactly what I'm doing here…I've come to collect…" Marcel said snickering. He snapped his fingers and a half dozen vampires leaped onto the confused hybrid. Diego flashed out of the darkness carrying a thick silver chain.
"Marcel what are you doing?" Caroline walked towards the Marcel.
Marcel grinned. He looked at Klaus and than Caroline. "Tick tock Carrie…what is it going to be?"
"Marcel don't do this…please?" Caroline said pleading.
Diego flashed around the hybrid and wrapped the chain around him. Another vampire came and plunged a syringe into Klaus' neck. Klaus growled at his assailant. "I will kill you…" Klaus remained paralyzed. His body was beginning to weaken.
Caroline flashed towards Klaus. She tried to break the chains but jumped back. "What the…" She looked at her hands they were scorched.
"Marcellus you will pay for this…" Klaus growled.
Marcel chuckled. "I'm sure I will old man but for now….I have some business…Carrie what is it gonna be? You can't save both of them?"
"Marcel…" Caroline said shaking her head. She looked at Klaus and then at Marcel. He was grinning profusely.
Caroline bit her lip. She tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
"Well Carrie baby whose it gonna be Niklaus or your daughter…"
Caroline's eyes opened wide. She felt her breath leave her body. Her head started spinning her legs fumbled under her feet. She closed her eyes and swallowed the terror that filled her. "Fine…you win…" Caroline said through her teeth.
Marcel laughed. " I always do sweetheart…" He walked towards Caroline and gave her a vial. Caroline snatched the vial from Marcel's hand. She walked slowly towards Klaus. She stopped in front of him. She saw the confusion in his eyes and lowered her eyes. "I'm sorry Klaus…" She whispered. She took a deep breath and walked forward. She leaned in closer to his ear. She whispered as softly as possible." Trust me…" She looked at the yellow flickers of Klaus irises. He clenched his teeth. Caroline lean in and bit Klaus neck. She placed her hands on his shoulders and held on tight she knew he would resist her. Klaus shook his body underneath his binds. Caroline stumbled back slightly. She opened the vial and filled it with Klaus blood. She turned her head towards Klaus. He narrowed his eyes. His eyes were empty. The softness in them vanished. Caroline felt her heart drop onto the floor. She took a deep breath and walked towards Marcel. She reluctantly gave Marcel the vial.
Marcel smirked. "I'll take you to Davina…" Marcel extended his hand for Caroline.
Caroline shrugged his hand away. "What are you going to do with Klaus, Marcel?"
Marcel remained silent.
"Marcel you can't hurt him…"
Marcel frowned for a second. "Trust me…"
"Let him go…you got what you wanted." Caroline shouted.
Marcel raised his hands in defeat. He signed Diego. Diego came forward and handed Caroline a pair of gloves. Caroline raised an eyebrow. She took the gloves and put them on. She flashed towards Klaus and pulled his chains free.
"Klaus…are you okay?" Caroline asked.
Klaus flashed towards her and stood in front of her. His hands formed tight fists on his side.
"Klaus…" Caroline said softly. She reached up to touch is face and he flinched. "Klaus I'm sorry…"
Klaus shrugged his shoulders and flashed away. Caroline watched him go. Her eyes swelled with emotions. She quickly wiped the tear that fell down her cheek. She closed her eyes and followed Marcel into the darkness.
