Klaus grinned as he leaned in. Her pulse was racing. His eyes darken making the veins under his eyes illuminate his passion. Klaus felt his fangs pierce through his gums. His fangs grazed the top of her skin softly. Genevieve tossed her head back giving him more area to devour. Klaus smirked he placed a soft kiss on her neck. He heard her breathing paused for a moment. He grinned and plunged his fangs into her wanton flesh. He drank her in greedily needing to fill the selfish need inside of him.

"Klaus…?"

Chapter 16

"Klaus…?" Caroline whispered her legs frozen underneath her. She bit her lip trying to compel herself to remain calm. He was there with Genevieve it almost made her sick to her stomach. The urge to rip out her own eyeballs out of their sockets was overwhelming. The disgust she felt was nauseating. Caroline closed her eyes and pushed all the negativity as further down her soul as she could. She opened her eyes and plastered a royal smile. She was going to overcome this she would have to. She cleared her throat interrupting the annoyingly intimate moment.

Klaus looked up from his drunken stupor. His eyes black and dilated. A drop of blood fell slowly down his chin his grin illuminating his thirst.

"Caroline…" Genevieve shrieked. She tried to get up but was trapped by the hybrid's iron grip. "I…I…"

Caroline raised her hand in the air. " Sophie needs you for the ritual Genevieve…" Caroline said as cold as she could muster.

Genevieve's eyes opened wide. She felt the ice in her dear friend's words. It hurt her. It hurt her to the core. "Caroline…"

Caroline shook her head and flashed out of the room as fast as she could.

Genevieve tried to fix her wrinkled dress as best as possible. It was useless. She walked over to the massive mirror on the far wall and saw her reflection. Her hair was crazed there was blood still dripping from her neck. She tried to wipe it but could not. She felt a pair of arms wrap themselves around her neck. "Allow me…" Genevieve closed her eyes. She leaned into his shoulders.

Klaus licked her neck softly wiping away any evidence of his bite. He knew it would remain a badge, a mark of where he had been and whom he could manipulate to his will. The wolf inside of him was lavishing in its conquest.

"Klaus…do you love me…?" Genevieve said as she raised her hands around his neck.

Klaus lowered his hands and turned her around facing his serious demeanor. He caressed the top of his hands on the side of her cheek. He smiled leaning in and placing a soft kiss on the tip of her lips. He paused for a second and looked into her eyes whispering, "No…" He smirked and flashed away.

Genevieve opened her mouth and closed it. She turned around and slammed her fist into the mirror displaying her broken reflection. " Damn you…Klaus…"

Caroline walked towards Sophie feeling pain, deceit and humiliation all balled inside of her. She plastered a smile on her face as she walked closer to Sophie. She needed to continue her quest, whether Klaus behaved or not.

"Caroline…what's the matter?" Sophie asked as she saw the dark could around her aura.

"No...Nothing…" She said smiling trying to shake away the doubt that was forming on her face.

Sophie was not convinced but she knew pressing Caroline would not end well. "Where's Genevieve?"

Caroline turned her head to look behind her at the entrance of the plantation. " She's coming…"

Sophie nodded. What did this girl do now? She saw Klaus flash out followed by a very angry Genevieve. Sophie had a pain in her stomach this was going to be a long night.

Caroline packed a bag filled with empty vials, candles and vials of different herbs and salts. She closed the bag and turned to put it into her shoulder stopping abruptly. Stone cold blue eyes paralyzed her still. "Klaus…" She said coldly. She tried to walk around him but he was infuriatingly blocking her path.

"Caroline…it's not what you think…" Klaus said.

"Klaus don't…lets just get this over and done with…" Caroline said as she flashed away from his confused face.

Klaus turned his head slightly. He clenched his teeth suppressing a growl.

Genevieve chuckled as she saw Caroline flash off in a huff. She may still have a chance.

Klaus paced back and forth in front of his dear departed mother's grave. He snarled the close proximity was making his skin crawl. He held a small vial in his hand. He was twirling it in between his fingers having his mothers blood in his hands was unnerving him.

Caroline bend down getting close to the consecrated ground. She opened her bag and took out the vials, herbs and candle and placed them on the sanctified ground. "Rebekah, Klaus…are you ready…?"

Rebekah crossed her arms over her chest. "As ready as I can be…"

Klaus nodded. He walked in front of Sophie and extended his hand. Sophie reached for the vial slowly. "Don't screw this up witch."

Sophie rolled her eyes and snatched the vial from the hybrid's hand. She took a deep breath. She needed to release the negativity from her mind.

"Gene…" She gave Genevieve the vial. Genevieve nodded and stepped back.

Sophie cleared her mind and retrieved a vial of black salt and traced a large circle around them. She chanted and waved her hands in the air. An encompassing surge of energy surrounded them. Caroline pulled out a quartz encrusted dagger from her leather bag.

Genevieve opened one of the vials filled with herbs and grabbed a handful of the dark green herb. " Espiritus de la mortalidad encomprender el circulo de la magia. Resusita la muerte con la vida…" Genevieve threw the herbs in the air and a small whirlwind carried the herbs in the night sky. She continued to chant louder and louder. The salt ignited a dark blue flame engulfing the group. Caroline walked towards Rebekah. "Ready?"

Rebekah rolled her eyes. "Yes…" She threw her hand in front of Caroline's face. Caroline resisted the urge to snap at the irritating blond. Caroline knew that upsetting the gods would not be the best way to complete the first part of the resurrection ritual. Caroline reached over and cut a short slit on the original's palm.

"Oww…" Rebekah hissed.

Caroline rolled her eyes. "Klaus…" She waited for him to extend his head. He smirked and rubbed his fingertips on her palms turning his hands slowly in front of her.

Caroline lowered her eyes and saw his hand in front of her. She listened as his pulse danced in his wrist making her eyes dilate a little bit larger. She swallowed the thirst she felt at the prospect of having its sweet nectar filling the inside of her mouth. She pushed the desire for his blood down in the most swallow part of her. She grabbed the dagger and dug the tip of its blade into his flesh. He groaned slightly feeling the burning twinge of the spelled blade. It burned his skin. The mixture of pleasure and pain was not lost on Caroline. He just hoped the others did not notice it.

Caroline held his hand and gave it a tight squeeze. The blood flew down into the chalice that Genevieve produced from Caroline's bag. Caroline released his hand trying to ignore the nerves that were dancing all over her skin. Caroline took a deep breath she and held it for a second. She listened to the unified chanting of the witches. The air was filled with energy and power. Caroline listened and waited.

"Caroline the dagger…" Sophie said with covered eyes.

Caroline stepped forward and gave Sophie the dagger. Genevieve stepped forward and emptied the vial into the chalice.

Sophie dipped the dagger into the chalice. She gripped the dagger with both hands and raised it above her head.

Lightning and thunder rumbled in the night air. A large cypress shook behind them. Leaves fell and started to circle them.

Rebekah turned and raised her eyebrows. She shook her head. Damn witches and there exhibitions. She hugged her arms around her shielding herself from the cold wind.

Stefan wanted to comfort Rebekah but dared not cross the circle. He didn't want to cross the ring he was afraid of what the consequences might be.

Sophie continued to chant louder and louder. The ring of fire around them raised the fire reaching its boiling point. The flames danced around them. Sophie opened her eyes and gave a final cry onto the heavens. "Animas…" Sophie yelled.

The clouds in the sky separated. The dark of the moon casted a shadow over the dancing flames. Rumbling was heard all around them. A loud bang shook the ground. Lightning and thunder shook branches of the surrounding trees. Lightning appeared. Sophie continued to chant louder and louder. She held the blade tight in her hands her eyes glistened her irises became lighter and lighter. Thunder fell from the sky. Lightning parted the sky.

"Animus…" Sophie's eyes transformed. Her irises lightened becoming completely ashen and luminescence. Sophie repeated the final chant and parted her arms as lightning from the north, east and west stroke uniting as it penetrated the crystal dagger. Sophie started to convulse shaking every limb in her body.

Caroline flashed towards Sophie. "Sophie…" Caroline flew over to comfort her friend but was stopped by pair of iron clad hands. Caroline tried to shake herself loose. "What are you doing…?"

A pair of light blue eyes locked onto hers. "The ritual…"

Caroline clenched her teeth. She tried one more time to shake Klaus off of her before she relented.

Sophie's body shook until the lightning disappeared into the night sky. The fire around them died down.

"Well…witch is it done…?" Rebekah sneered.

Genevieve looked up and saw the sky clear. "It's done…"

Caroline turned her head and waited until Klaus loosened his grip on Caroline's shoulder. Caroline felt his grip loosened and she flashed to Sophie's side. Caroline watched in horror as Sophie fell from her feet. Caroline caught the weaken witch and held her close. Caroline caressed the witch's cheek giving her a slight shake. "Sophie…are you okay…" Caroline leaned in and listened she heard a faint beating in her chest. "She's okay…" Caroline whispered. She held Sophie close and listened to her friend's shallow breaths.

Sophie opened and closed her eyes. " Caroline…"

Caroline smiled. She blinked away the tears that were threatening to fall.

Genevieve walked towards Sophie and placed a shaky hand on her shoulder. "Soph…you okay…" She said the words barely in an audible whisper.

Sophie smiled and nodded. She raised hand and gave Genevieve's hand a soft squeeze.

Klaus flashed forward and crossed his hands over his chest. "Is it done witch…"

Caroline looked up and frowned. "Klaus…"

"What…love the purpose of this exhibition was to bring Kol back…" Klaus said annoyed.

Sophie rolled her eyes. "Its okay…Caroline…" Sophie sat up and slowly got up. She walked slowly towards the hybrid. She extended her hand with the dagger in her hand.

Klaus smirked. He grabbed the dagger but stopped abruptly.

Sophie held a tight grip on the dagger. "Remember hybrid…the life you take will ensure the balance…if you hesitate then we are lost."

"I understand…" Klaus said and took the blade for the hesitant witch. He gave Rebekah a nod and flashed away into the night.

Genevieve turned around and bit her lip. "Klaus…"

Caroline shook her head.

"Caroline…are you alright…" Sophie asked as she raised an eyebrow.

She turned to Sophie and gave her slight smile. "Yeh…are you going to be okay…?"

Sophie smiled. "Yeh…I just need to rest…"

Caroline nodded. "Okay …I'll take you home…"

Sophie shook her head. "No…you need to go and meet Marcel…I…I'll be fine…"

Genevieve turned around and walked toward Sophie. She gave her a short smile.

Caroline was about to protest when Rebekah stepped forward. "Caroline we have to finish what we started…"

Caroline bit her lip. She remained silent.

"Caroline, Rebekah is right. Genevieve and I can take care of Sophie…" Stefan said as he walked through the protective ring.

Caroline turned to look at Sophie. "Soph…"

Sophie looked at into the concern in Stefan's face and nodded. "Okay…"

Genevieve was about to protest when Sophie pulled her dragging her away before she made another spectacle.

Caroline watched as her friend walked away slowly. She pulled out her phone from her pocket. If she hurried she had enough time to get ready. Caroline put her phone away and flashed into the night.

Klaus walked into the bar scanning the room. Marcel was in the corner table laughing and drinking with the usual entourage smug son of a bitch. Klaus snarled. He walked to the bar and signaled the bartender. A tall blond with green eyes came and poured Klaus his usual.

Klaus smiled. "Thank you sweetheart…" He raised the glass in front of him to the bartender. He took a healthy gulp.

"Klaus…what brings you here this fine day…" Marcel said with a smile. He signaled the bartender and watched his sire intently.

Klaus watched the smug vampire with mild irritation. He raised his glass. "A fine scotch…good company…" He said and took another gulp. He finished the scotch and placed the empty glass on top of the bar.

Marcel grinned. "Keep the drinks coming…"

The bartender nodded and refilled the hybrid's glass.

Klaus grabbed the bartender and brought her close. "Are you forgetting something…" The bartender's eyes opened.

Klaus turned and smiled at Marcel. "My friend here needs a drink…"

The bartender swallowed. She saw his eyes darken. "Yes…yes…" She nodded uncontrollably.

Klaus smelled her fear and smirked. He let the worthless human go with a soft push. "Good girl…"

Marcel shook his head. "Charming…is that how you an original charms the ladies…"

Klaus shrugged. He picked up his drink and took another drink. He looked at the bartender and laughed softly. " That was no lady…" He said as he looked away. He had to control the urge to disembowel his progeny. Marcel was the son he never had but at this moment he was just an obstacle.

Marcel laughed. "Perhaps not…but she is…" He said smiling.

Klaus turned and saw Cami walking in with a tight dark blue halter dress. Klaus smirked. "Perhaps…"

Marcel grinned. He got up and opened his arms "Camille…" He grabbed her hand and spun her around. "You are a vision as always…"

Cami giggled. She rolled her eyes and covered her blatant smile. "Marcel…always a charmer…" She said seductively. She batted her eyelashes and perked her lips.

Marcel grabbed her hand and placed an exaggerated kiss on the palm of her hand.

Cami smiled and took her hands away from his grasp. She turned and grinned. "Klaus…"

Klaus nodded. "Camille…a pleasure as always…"

Cami's face blushed slightly. Her eyes traced Klaus' body. His eyes shone bright even in the darkness of the bar lights. His firm body sent shivers down every orifice of her body. It excited and irritated her. She loved Marcel at least she hoped she did. Marcel was a good man…vampire…he wasn't a heartless killer like Klaus. Klaus is a killer. Marcel is the only one I need. Marcel is the only one I came here for…

"Cami…what are you drinking?"

Cami shook her head. "Bourbon…neat…" She walked towards the bar and sat down on an empty seat next to Marcel. She placed a hand firmly on Marcel's thigh.

Marcel grinned as he leaned in and placed a soft kiss on her cheek.

The bartender placed a glass in front of Cami and she drank it willingly. She needed something to numb the knot in her stomach that was growing inside of her. She could not shake the feeling in the pit of her stomach. Something was coming.

"Cami is everything alright?" Marcel asked.

Cami gave him a short smile. "Of course…"

Marcel leaned in and gave Cami a quick kiss on the lips. "Cami give us a minute I have some business to talk with my sire…"

Cami gave Marcel an exaggerated pout. "Alright…you have a few minutes but you owe me a dance….I'm going to hold you to that…"

Marcel bowed his head in agreement. "Whatever the lady wants…right Klaus…" Marcel said giving Klaus an exaggerate smile.

Klaus smirked in acknowledgement. "Of course…" Klaus watched Cami walk reluctantly away. Klaus took another drink from his glass. He watched as the crowd of vampires started to die down. Klaus looked at the phone it was almost closing. He checked his phone no missed messages.

"Any news…" Marcel asked raising his eyebrow.

Klaus put his phone away. "You tell me mate...where's Elijah…?"

"He's safe…and he will be if you don't do anything rash…"

Klaus chuckled. "Me…you wound me Marcellus…"

Marcel rolled his eyes. "New Orleans has been flourishing...thanks to the blood and sweat that I shed New Orleans is an utopia for vampires…"

"If you have anything it is because I gave it to you…I made you…" Klaus said smugly.

"You…" Marcel got up throwing his chair back. "You've made nothing…you left after your daddy ran you out of town…you ran away with your tail in between your legs then and you will run away again…"

"Really…" Klaus finished his drink. "What makes you so sure…" Klaus got up and flashed inches away from Marcellus arrogant stance.

A hush filled the room. One by one vampires stood up from their chairs. Instantly there was a ring of vampires snarling itching to attack.

Klaus heard every heartbeat and smelled every foul breath that was emitted from the crowd. He sensed there were at

least twenty five vampires waiting for the signal to pounce.

"Hiding again Marcellus…are you that much of a coward that you can't face me mate..." Klaus said grinning.

Marcel smirked. "I don't have to fight alone Niklaus…can you say the same…?"

Klaus looked around and smirked. "Alone or not…New Orleans is and will always be mine…." Klaus said coldly. He turned his head and stared straight into Marcel's face his eyes darkening with every syllable spoken.

Marcel narrowed his eyes. Marcel felt someone push his shoulder slightly. He turned around and saw one of his captains behind him grinning perversely. "Marcel finish him…finish him…" Marcel grinned. He turned around and waved his hands in the air

"You heard the man…"

Marcel stepped back into the darkness.

Klaus' demeanor changed. His smile transformed from pure merriment to the coldness of a fearless warrior. He scanned the room saw a vampire charging towards him. He turned his head to the right and the then left. He smiled as he heard his neck snap and bend.

The young vampire lunged forward towards the original. His eyes darken with rage. He leaped forward and threw the first punch. The young vampire stumbled on impact. Klaus smirked and narrowed his golden eyes. "That was a nice try mate…" Klaus said smugly. Klaus flashed zigzagging in frenzy grabbing bloody hearts and breaking chest cavities. One by one bodies started to fall staining the ground crimson. Klaus threw the bloody organs on the floor grinning in triumph. "Marcellus…I grew weary of these games…"

Klaus listened for his wayward protégé. Klaus smirked as he heard footsteps above him. He lifted his head and saw a blur flashing through the wrap around balcony . Klaus leaped across the room climbing on limp bodies crushing skulls, necks, and assorted limbs. Klaus heart raced as he came closer to his target. Marcellus was his. He was going to pay.

Caroline arrived to Gloria's and heard thrashing and throwing bodies left and right. She quickly gave Rebekah a text, from the shrieks she heard she knew she was going to need back up.

Caroline flashed into the courtyard and stopped in her tracks. Klaus was leaping in the air climbing the walls of the balcony. She looked around and saw a mountain of bodies all over the perimeter of the courtyard. She listened for Klaus and Marcel she heard them struggling.

"You'll never have New Orleans…this is my kingdom…." Marcel shrieked.

" You…you have nothing…only what I allow you to have…" Klaus said as he held the dagger inches away from his protégés chest.

Caroline was about to flash forward when she felt a pair of arms grab her throwing her across the room. "Ahhh…" Caroline said as she rubbed her head. She felt something wet. Blood. Her fingertips were full with blood and pieces of stone from the wall she hit. She got up pissed. "What the hell…" She flashed over and threw herself on the dark haired vampire. He laughed smiling at the blond on top of him. "I always knew you wanted me…" He spouted.

Caroline growled. "Shut up…" She reached into the chest of the vampire and pulled out his heart from his chest. "Asshole…" She said as she threw the bloody organ on the floor. She wiped her hand on his shirt frowning in disgust.

She ran up the winding stairs and stopped. Her legs started to weaken underneath her. The air in her lungs escaped. She started to hyperventilate gasping for air. Her knees buckled over. She raised her hand. "Kla…"

"Caroline…."

Rebekah flashed over and caught the blond before she fell on the floor. Rebekah grabbed Caroline's face and slapped it repeatedly. "Caroline…wake up…Caroline…."

Marcel was grinning on the floor. He wrapped the hands around the dagger trying to prevent his death. Klaus' eyes turned golden his fangs were starting to pierce through. Klaus growled and plunged the dagger into Marcel's chest slowly. Marcel started to laugh louder and louder. Klaus continued to penetrate the dagger deeper into his protégé's chest.

Rebekah held Caroline in her arms holding her cold body. Caroline's skin started to darken. The alabaster glow dimmed. Her chest started to bleed. Caroline opened her eyes and closed them. Blood started to fall from the side of her mouth. "Klaus…stop your killing her…"

Klaus continued grinning like the beast he was. He heard Rebekah's yelling but the thirst for vengeance was too strong.

"Nik…Caroline…is linked to Marcel…"

Klaus turned his head and saw his angel graying into the background. Marcel started to laugh louder and more frantically. Klaus saw blood soak her thin shirt.

"I told you…you will never beat me…" Klaus froze. He looked into Caroline's graying face and then into Marcel's sinister one. Revenge or Caroline…revenge or his…his….

"Niklaus…" Rebekah bellowed.
