Hiya guys! Okay I apologise profusely for my lack of updates over the past... I don't know how long, but Tris and Tobias shippers', I guarantee you will love this chapter, it holds a bit of romance for the two, considering there hasn't been much so far.

Anyway, thanks to the people that have continued to read, follow and favourite my story, but I would very much appreciate some reviews.

I will be updating as often as I can from now on.

So with that said, read, enjoy and review XxxxX

Chapter 9 – Our Special Place

Tris's POV

"There is nothing we can do, and there is nothing that we should be doing when what really matters is the fate of this faction. We haven't worked this hard and come so far just to allow our work to become the victim of cruel and justified destruction."

I sighed heavily and sat down on the sofa of our Ditel room. It annoyed me when he was right, especially when I wished he wasn't.

"I understand that, I really do, but I'm not the type of person that would just sit around and let things happen when I could be doing something to help," I replied.

"Trust me, I am very well aware of that, but where has that gotten us in the past? We need to continue carefully, the ice we tread is extremely thin and one wrong move could lead to the deaths of hundreds of innocents."

I exhaled once more, this time with less emphasis.

"So what do we do now?" I wondered aloud, doing my best to push my immediate thoughts away.

"Let's go for a walk," Tobias suggested, "I think some fresh air is a good idea right now."

I couldn't deny the fact that I could barely breathe in this room with my thoughts suffocating me, so I willingly offered my hand to the best boyfriend in the world – however cheesy it was, it was the truth – and followed him through the door, along the hall and down many stairs (we decided not to take the elevator) and as we stepped through the front door of the Ditel, we both breathed a long, happy sigh of relief.

It was a beautiful day, the first clear blue sky and streaming sun we had had in a while. It was quite a day for it to have come, but I was glad. To be honest, I would have seen delight in dark skies and heavy rain; everything was beautiful in its own tremendous way.

Hand in hand, Tobias and I made our way down the path surrounded with an enormous amount of plants and shrubbery, following it to the point where the gap in the branches signalled we should follow no longer. Tobias let me go first. Keeping one hand on my waist and the other in my hand, he guided me over the swirling tree trunk, and once he himself was over, we pushed aside the rest of the tiny forest in our path and emerged at the other side.

Where we were now was strictly forbidden ground, not always, but most of the time. The reason for this was the fact that it contained the habitats of numerous creatures of which we hired particular Divergents to take care of. The amount of creatures living just before the border of our faction was vast; they ranged from butterflies to hares to parrots. Each family was beautiful and extraordinary, and that was why we had made this small area our special place; Tobias and I's. It was for us and us only. In this spot, there were no hired caretakers for the creatures, Tobias and I looked after the animals, and in return they allowed us to stay for a while. The place we sat was, in fact, the most important tree in the entire faction.

It was rare, virtually unheard of, and we made sure that no one knew about it. If someone knew, the information could spread, and were that information to spread, say, to another faction... They could end Divergent faster than we care to admit.

It might have sounded strange, but it was true. The tree that we sat by in our visits wasn't an ordinary tree. It may have looked like it and it may have even smelled like it, but it was beyond important to this faction, it was vital. Without it, there would be no Divergent, and therefore it was crucial that nobody knew why...

"Tris?" Tobias asked, practically dragging me from of my reverie. Once he had gotten my full attention he continued, "Red or blue blanket?"

I smirked and pointed to the blue one in his left hand, "It matches the sky."

Marcus's POV

It had been a new experience speaking to my son after such a length of time. It wasn't a good experience; the anger that had flared in his eyes had told me all I needed to know. Well, maybe not all of it. I had gotten the information I had gone for, but I had left with a new question, one that involved the love affair of my beloved son and his girl. I had gone through things in my life that I prefer not to speak about, but never once had I considered changing my name, even if it was only to the public. He had changed it such a long time ago, and there must have been good reason for him to do so, one that had caught on and influenced his female companion to follow in his footsteps.

A distorted whistle interrupted my thoughts, followed by a 'hello?' that leaked of sarcasm and childish play.

A laugh erupted, and the voice that came after was different from the one before. "What the hell is going on with you, Eaton?"

"Shut it, Sergio," I demanded, "Now where were we?"

"Don't you mean where were we? Because you were off in your own world as we discussed the matter of how we are planning to commence our attack."

"I apologise, Hudson. The attack, of course, I was thinking that maybe it isn't the best idea at this moment."

"I told you not to go today! I told you it would only mess with your god damn mind! Whatever you're thinking, we are doing this, with or without you."

I nodded in unwilling agreement, and I received a quick visit from the wave of guilt that occasionally passed by every once in a while. If I hadn't said anything in the first place to begin this, if I hadn't allowed my uncontrolled rage to become the beginning of an unnecessary war, this wouldn't be happening. But pushing the 'ifs' to one side, I had started this, I had allowed my uncontrolled rage to become the beginning of an unnecessary war, and this was happening. There was no way to stop it, no way that would be easily forgiven, but I knew I had to think of something, and I had to think fast.

Tris's POV

It had been the best day I'd had in a long time, and it was the perfect end as I lay on the large bed in the Ditel room wrapped in the arms of the one I loved. I stopped for a moment, not breathing, not anything, and realised how much I had lacked in telling him that over the past few weeks. It made me all the more eager to do so, and so I repositioned myself so that I was looking at his perfectly flawless face. His eyes were closed, but I could tell by his uneven breathing that he was still awake. I placed a gentle kiss on the tip of his nose, then each of his cheeks, and finally found my last kiss sitting upon his lips. He instantly responded, and with a flutter of long eyelashes I found myself staring up into his handsome brown eyes. His arms were settled at either side of me, protecting me from the rest of the world. His kiss continued, long and sweet, until he pulled back. I didn't let the change go to waste when he did.

"I love you." It sounded obvious as I said it, so I felt the need to justify my enthusiasm, "I realised just how little I've told you over the past while. I know you already know, but I'm just telling you again."

By the end of my mini-monologue his eyes had lit up in a heart-racing smile. I felt his cool hands meet the warmth of my hips and butterflies began to swarm inside. Pulling him back to me for another heart-stopping kiss, I reached for the rim of his shirt and in seconds had already thrown it to the floor.

After a few minutes of endless kissing, Tobias drew back once again, this time with concern written all over his face. "Are you okay from earlier? Are you over it?"

I smiled, breathless from the intensity of his kiss, "I will be."

This time I needn't pull him back. Instead he removed my shirt in the blink of an eye, making us even, and pulled the duvet over both of our heads.
