"This is the famous Namsan Tower. It is equivalent to the Empire State Building in New York. It is a frequent destination for..."
Sasuke tuned out the boring guide lady's voice as she went on and on. He had not gotten into any trouble because of sneaking out but he had refused to answer any questions to Takumi. A girl gasped and pointed up to the roof of the tower. Sasuke glanced up and his eyes widened at the sight of a photo shoot going on at the very top of the tower.
"Let's go see who it is!" One girl shouted.
The small group of students ran into the building, Sasuke one of them. They got to the very top but were held back by security.
"Who is doing a photo shoot out here? Don't they know the danger risks?" Takumi asked.
Sasuke waited with bated breath and then smiled when Genjirou emerged from the building, dressed in casual clothes.
"It's Steel!" one girl squealed.
Genjirou smiled and bowed his head in acknowledgment. He smiled even wider when he spotted Sasuke. Takumi nudged Sasuke who nodded. Takumi waved and Genjirou waved back with another handsome smile. The security let him through and out of the building. Outside on the roof, the crew were packing the equipment up.
"He's so cool!" Takumi said with excitement.
"I know" Sasuke grinned.
"We'll be going to your recording right now. We'll be there in half an hour and we'll have lunch in the studio. Is that okay?" Terry asked.
"Yeah, just fine" Genjirou replied, tapping away at his phone.
"Those kids seemed impressed today. They didn't look Korean though" Terry commented.
"They were from a Japanese school. They're here for two weeks on a trip" Genjirou replied.
"Well, well, aren't you the knowledgable one?" Terry arched a brow.
"My nephew came to see me yesterday" Genjirou said.
"Why?"
"To take me back home"
"What did you say?" Terry asked.
"No of course. That kid doesn't deserve to be brought into the suffering that his father is inflicting on me" Genjirou replied.
"So he came all the way from Japan just to find you? Kid's got brains" Terry commented.
"He might have brains but he doesn't think of the consequences of his actions" Genjirou said.
"What do you expect? He's a teen. He thinks the entire world revolves around him at all times" Terry laughed.
"If his father finds out what he did, that kid is going to get hell on earth"
Terry nodded and the driver tapped on the roof signalling that they had arrived to their destination. Genjirou gathered his phone and bag before exiting the car. Terry followed right behind him. Genjirou greeted the manager and stepped into the recording room. He put on the headphones and the music began. He nodded his head to the music before setting himself up for the right mood.
"Yukimura"
Yukimura winced as the overhead lights switched on. He had spent the night at Yanagi's and had returned at dawn hoping that Sanada had left for work. That hope was dashed since Sanada was waiting for him right at the dinner table. Yukimura smiled and Sanada carefully examined him from head to toe.
"Where have you been? Do you have any idea how worried I was?" Sanada asked.
"I told you I had an emergency at the shop" Yukimura replied.
"Stop lying to me. I have been honest with you throughout our friendship and I do not tolerate anyone lying to me" Sanada growled.
"I can't talk about it" Yukimura said quietly.
"What is it? Family? Are your parents well? What about your younger sister?" Sanada asked.
"I said I can't talk about it" Yukimura side stepped Sanada and felt Sanada wrap a hand around him wrist to stop him. Yukimura was yanked back like a rag doll and flushed when Sanada held him tight in his strong arms.
"Even if you can't talk about it, you know I'm always here for you" Sanada whispered into Yukimura's ear.
Yukimura closed his eyes and let himself rest against Genichirou's broad chest. A surge of guilt flooded through him. Sanada was not going to be his anymore. He was going to be someone else's husband. Someone else's son in law. Someone else's father. Yukimura felt a tear slip out of his eyes and pulled out of Sanada's embrace. Sanada let the lilac haired man walk away and he didn't move until he heard the door slam from upstairs.
A buzz in his pocket made him pull his phone out of his pocket. His eyebrows furrowed as he recognised the call from a private number and immediately clicked to accept the call.
"Hello?"
"Genichirou?"
Genjirou licked his dry lips as he spoke into his phone.
"Genjirou? How are you? What have you been doing? Why haven't you called me? I've been so worried about you!" Genichirou couldn't stop his questions.
"It's been six years, nii-san" Genjirou let out a dry sob. He could hear a sniffle from his brother's side and smiled shakily.
"It took you six years to call me? Have you no idea how worried I was? I knew you were doing well since I check up on the news articles but who knows if your publicist was lying about your health or your well being" Genichirou scolded.
"I couldn't risk Genji doing anything to you or to our father. I only decided to call you now since I know that my number is private. It won't show up on any call records" Genjirou explained.
"I'm glad you called me. How have you been? I heard you've been winning awards all over Asia"
"Yeah my albums are selling and I'm making money as an artist. I really want to come back to Japan though" Genichirou replied.
"You could if you wanted to. I'm sure Genji will have lost his anger by now"
"I'm not quite sure yet about that. President Yang is pushing for a Japan debut and promotions"
"I'll talk to Genji about this. We've grown into adults now. It's time for him to lose his anger over this once and for all" Genichirou clutched the phone tightly.
"You can try but I don't think he will listen, nii-san" Genjirou said quietly.
"I'll bring you home, Genjirou. I promise that"
"I'll talk to you later, nii-san. I need to wake up early for work tomorrow" Genjirou stifled a yawn.
"Goodnight"
"Goodnight"
Sanada Kazuki groaned as he heard his phone ring at three in the morning. He reached out blindly and flinched as the bright light assaulted his sleepy eyes. He put on his glasses and then sat up in alarm. Why was Dr. Oshitari calling him at this time? Mai stirred from her sleep beside him and watched curiously as her husband answered the phone.
"Hello? Sanada Kazuki here"
"Sanada-san. I apologise for the disturbance but I have some sad news to pass on" Oshitari Yuushi said.
"What is it, Oshitari-san?"
"Your father has just passed away in his sleep" Oshitari said.
The phone slipped from Kazuki's hand and landed on the blanket. Mai picked it up and spoke to Oshtari while her husband remained frozen in shock. Once Mai ended the call, she wrapped her arms around her husband and began to cry. Kazuki held his wife as he broke down in tears. He lifted his phone and quickly called Genichirou.
"Grandfather has passed away" Genichirou said.
"What? Was he ill?" Genjirou asked.
"He was sick but he was getting better. We didn't expect this to happen at all. He passed away in his sleep"
"When is the funeral?"
"After two days. He wanted to be cremated in the traditional way" Genichirou replied.
"So who's going to be lighting the fire?"
"He was hoping for his grandsons to do that"
"Oh" Genjirou frowned.
"All of his grandsons, Genjirou. He wanted you there as well" Genichirou said.
"What about Genji?"
"We'll deal with Genji later. You need to step up and not fear him any more. It was grandfather's last wish" Genichirou replied.
"I'll think about it, nii-san"
Genjirou hung up.
Genji picked up the flaming staff and gestured for his younger brother to come forward. In front of them was their grandfather's body covered his wood and charcoal for them to cremate.
"Genji, it was grandfather's last wish that Genjirou..."
Genji sent a glare to his father who was the one who had spoken up.
"Just wait a few minutes longer. He'll be here" Kazuki finished.
"We haven't got anyone to wait for. Come, Genichirou" Genji turned around.
Genichirou stepped forward and placed a hand on Genji's. They both lifted the staff and then noticed a pale hand come to rest on top of theirs. Both of them looked up only to find Genjirou standing there, ready to cremate his grandfather. They lowered the staff and the flame caught on the wood. All three of them stood strong, watching their grandfather burn into ashes.
