Liam had been taking the long path ahead, not quite knowing which part he was taking for starters. He just needed to get away from the craziness that was the party.
Liam entered the outskirts of the woods, his hands sunken into his hoodie as a source of protection from the cold. He just needed to get away from the humiliation.
However, he knew then and there that the way he reacted to the situation and lashing out at Sierra, the way he did. His temper really was getting the best of him.
According to his alpha, the temper will calm down by the time he learns control over his abilities. But instead it has gotten shoddier than it was before.
The only way he could possibly rectify his mistake, and probably get on good terms with Sierra is to apologize. I mean, how was she supposed to know he'd be bothered by hanging out with his enemy?
"Screw it." He said under his breath as he turned on his heel, ready to head back to the party but was immediately stopped when a figure stood right in front of him.
His eyes widened when he was met with those familiar amber eyes he adored.
"Sierra!" He retorted in shock.
Her eyes were widened as well as she stared up into his gorgeous blue eyes.
"Oh god," She muttered to herself, as she realized that she didn't know what to say to apologize. She didn't exactly know how to apologize for something she had no darn clue what she'd done.
Liam began to shift awkwardly as he looked down on the green, pebbly ground.
"Look. Liam I-" Sierra began.
"I'm sorry." He told her, right before she could conclude. Sierra kept quiet. "The way I lashed out on you was completely jerk-worthy of me. I'm really sorry about that – it was really just, me being an ass."
Sierra chuckled at this but nodded her head understandingly.
"I'm sorry too." Sierra told him as she gave him a slight punch on his chest. Liam scoffed, then immediately furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.
"You don't need to be sorry,"
"Well, I was the one who practically dragged you to this party and I didn't even hang out with you. I'm also the bad guy here," She teased, her lips curving into a slight turn of embarrassment.
Liam gave her a slight snigger, and then drifted his gaze from her to the loudness vaporizing from the party.
"This party's crazy." Liam commented. Sierra turned her head around to see lacrosse players chasing the sophomore girls with bottles of whiskey in their hands. She shrugged.
"I've been to worse." She told him. Liam frowned at her and she blushed. "Okay, I'm blagging. I haven't been to a party like this."
Liam tittered lowly as hand pinched the bridge of his nose.
"So your friend, Brett…" Sierra began as the two began walking through the woods. Liam's grin fell and he heaved a sigh.
He wasn't exactly prepared to listen to the rant about his arch nemesis.
"He's really a stuck-up." Sierra laughed but then widened her eyes realizing what she said. "I-I totally wasn't expecting to say that!" She gasped.
Liam chuckled.
"Brett was never my friend. So I totally agree with you on that one," He replied.
Thank god!
Sierra just rolled her eyes. "What happened to you two?"
Liam shrugged. "Well, we were very competitive at my old school so that aspect added onto the fact that I almost tried killed him and ruined the chances of our team winning the championships. Some people can't let go grudges?" He asked rhetorically.
"He sounds really self-conscious." She low-key taunted him, even though the third party wasn't around.
Liam couldn't help but just grin at her, with such adoration for her. Sierra caught this and just gave him a light blush, pulled a strand of her creamy hair behind her ear.
As if on cue, the wind propelled past them with a livid gush and Sierra suddenly shivered at the instantaneous effect. Liam reacted almost immediately.
"It's really chilly," He smiled. Sierra nodded as she began cocooning herself with her arms. "Here," He whispered as he began shrugging his suede jacket off.
"No, you don't-"Sierra shook her head, however Liam had already draped his jacket around her shoulders and she couldn't help but feel content in the warmness of it.
She lifted her eyes up at him –given the fact that she was only two inches shorter than him– and batted them.
He just gave her a crooked smile, standing there in just his hoodie.
"What?" He asked.
"Did you really just do the most cliché move in history?" She tantalized.
He suddenly felt humiliated as his cheeks started to burn and his lips began to quiver as words needed to be uttered but no outcome.
"I-I thought you were cold." He stammered, slightly feeling duress.
She widened her eyes and shook her head.
"No. Thank you, I was just taken aback for a second." She told him. He just nodded, staring at his feet nervously. She gripped his arm. "Really, thank you."
Liam stared into her eyes and smiled.
The two then continued their saunter down the gravel ground of the forest, in complete and comfortable silence before indulging in conversation about what's going on in their lives. Liam finally pumped up the courage to tell her about his craziest bad habits, like how he smashed his previous coach's car however, not revealing he had Intermittent Explosive Disorder. That would probably chase her away.
"So that's my bad habits." He chuckled. Sierra nodded. "What about you? Do you have any secrets worth my time?"
Sierra giggled at this and shook her head. She nudged her arm to spill it which caused her to reluctantly give in.
"Okay, I have something but promise you won't laugh?" She questioned looking up at him. "Or get freaked out?"
Liam mentally scoffed. He had lots more secrets that she'd probably freak out more to, so what she was about to say wasn't going to live up to it.
"I promise…well I can't exactly control my laugh," He teased.
Sierra rolled her eyes and lightly pushed him to the side. He just sniggered.
She sighed. "Okay…um. I don't know how to put this, so here it goes." She began. "My family is supposedly descendants from a line of witches."
Liam took in the information and frowned when he realized what she just said.
"Witches? Like real witches? You know, the broom and the wands and all that?" Liam uttered.
Sierra blushed, but nodded her head feeling slightly ashamed.
"Yeah, well…I wouldn't exactly go as far as Harry Potter type of witches but, more like clairvoyants if I may must insist." She told him.
"So basically their psychic?" He laughed. She nodded. "Okay…"
"I know. It's crazy. I thought the exact same thing when my grandmother told me the stories. My mom personally thinks it's a whole lot of bull, but my mother was persistent to inform us that the 'Witch's Spirit' will still possess and all of that." She scoffed.
Liam waited for her to continue but his eyes were wide in complete shock.
"Now you know exactly why I think my grams is a little…" She trailed off as she twirled her index finger around her ear.
Liam sniggered and shrugged.
"Well I've heard stranger things…"
Stranger things being: Werewolves, Werecoyotes, Were-jaguars, Kitsunes, Banshees, Dark Spirits, Berserkers and the whole list continues…
Sierra shook her head.
"No. Not as strange as what my family believes. Honestly, I feel I'm sort of the only sane person in the house…however self-absorbed that might sound." Sierra blushed. "Oh and get this, our ancestors will enter the one lasting heir of the magical being."
"Okay, that's just freaky and I've stopped wetting my bed as a kid." He laughed as they both stopped in their tracks and he was now standing in front of her.
She just rolled her eyes and giggled.
"See, my life isn't as normal as you think." She told him as she dug her hands into the warm pockets of his jacket.
He couldn't help but smile at the way her eyes of embarrassment transcended to her statue.
"Well think of it as this way. You're really as normal as the next person because this is Beacon Hills after all."
Sierra gasped.
"Oh yeah, I heard a lot of gnarly things about this town. I should've known what I was getting myself into the moment I stepped foot here. I mean, my old town was freaky but this is just Scream quality."
"You know. I haven't watched those films yet," He sniggered.
Sierra widened her eyes.
"Then you haven't lived my friend."She told him off. He laughed. "But seriously, the witch thing…I don't know. It seems like a scary bedtime story to me."
He smiled. "Didn't you ever think the fairytale stories were actually true?"
"Well, that depends on what fairytale stories?" She asked him, her hair breezing away with the wind, eyes transfixed on the string hanging off of Liam's hoodie.
"I mean, like vampires –"
"Oh that. Not really, I mean, my mom and I come from a very religious background. We go to church every Sunday, so I wouldn't exactly dwell in such things." She said to him.
Liam nodded his head in understanding.
"And really, who would believe in those superstitions? It's just plain ole stupid. A human is made to stay human, that's always been the plan I guess."
He nodded his head. "Right,"
"However, I do have an open mind." She added. "I mean, my grams pretty much forcibly opened my mind to the possibilities but…" She trailed off in thought before shaking her head. "No."
Liam nodded his head, realizing he should probably keep quiet or change the subject.
"So like…" She began to speak, but Liam was distracted when a plummeted leaf fell on top of Sierra's perfectly curled hair –and being the gentlemen he wished he was – he took a step closer, moving it from her head.
Sierra fell silent the moment she felt the warmness of his skin on her skull. She looked up at him to see he was staring down at her with such admiration for her. She couldn't exactly tell though, but she could feel that something was bugging him and he was contemplating whether or not go through with it.
And he did…
Liam abruptly found his face leaning over to Sierra's, their body heat causing a friction as he took a step closer –their hips only inches apart – his hands reaching up to contract with her left arm, rubbing her elbow lightly as he stared into her eyes.
Their foreheads immediately clashed, their noses touching and lips only centimeters apart.
The heat radiating off from their breaths were in sync, their lips moving closer and touching in a slight brush…
Sierra released a heavy breath, causing them to pull away slightly.
"Chelsea's probably waiting for me back at the house." She stated as she stood there for another second while longer, before spinning on her heel and on her way.
"Sierra, wait." He called out softly.
She didn't reply.
Liam extended his hand to grab at her wrist and she immediately spun around, her eyes blazed in a glare.
"Liam, leave me-!" She began but was cut off when Liam's head was shot up as he stared at the horizon, breathing in the air.
"Something's not right." He murmured in concern.
Sierra frowned, pulling away from his grasp.
"What?"
Then as if on cue, a clamorously loud scream came from the distance of the clearing. The two of them frowned when the ground began to shake rapidly.
Sierra's eyes widened.
"What's happening?"
Liam shifted his eyes from the ground to the big steep of trees to see figures approaching. He widened his eyes.
"Run!" He questioned as he nudged her from the small of her back and the two teenagers turned on their tail, heading over to the nearby bush hiding behind them.
The figures appeared as they saw the herd deer scurrying in a seep, hurdling off small obstacles in their way,
Sierra couldn't imagine what was going on and as if on cue, a loud thunder occurred in the night sky, Liam shooting his head up to take a quick glance before turning back to Sierra –who was extremely frightened as the last few deer passed by.
Liam peeked to check if the coast was clear before turning back to the girl.
"Okay, we'll run back to the house. I'll tell Mason he needs to get out of there fast, you need to leave with Chelsea." He told her.
"What's happening?"
He shrugged. "I don't know, but we really need to get out of here."
Sierra nodded, and then glared back at him.
"Just so we're clear, I don't know what happened between us. But it will never happen again." She murmured with a slight sharpness to her voice before getting up and running back to the house.
Liam frowned, before following her tail.
When they both reached the house, the people were oblivious to what happened. Probably because of the loud music, they didn't feel an earthquake kind of intrusion.
When Liam found Mason talking to Corey, he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket.
He pulled it out to see his alpha, Scott calling him. He answered.
"What's happening?" Liam questioned.
"I don't know but you need to get down here fast. We need your help!" Scott called out.
"Yeah, yeah, okay." He replied before hanging up.
"Liam!" Mason smiled widely.
"Mason, you need to get everyone out of here. Get everyone to leave the party." Liam told his best friend as he began backing away.
"Wait, Liam! What's going on?" Mason asked, clearly knowing something was up.
"It's hard to explain but I really have to do. Do as I say, please." Liam stated as he spun around, headed for the door.
But that was until he was stopped when Mason stood in front of him, stopping him from leaving with a frown playing all over his face.
"Liam, you've been acting weird ever since you came here. What's going on? Can you at least let me help?"
Liam contemplated for a minute before sighing and nodding his head, the two heading out of the house.
… …
Liam and Mason reached the clearing to where Scott and Stiles were standing by Stiles' jeep and the motorbike.
"You brought him?" Stiles questioned bluntly, motioning his finger over to Mason.
Liam's mouth opened wide.
"Look. Now's not the time, we've got something happening right now, Liam, you head out with Stiles and he'll tell you all about what's going on. Kira, Lydia and Malia are headed to the school. Trying to figure out what's going on there."
"Wait-wait…what's going on here? Is this some sort of heist because I don't know what's going on here?" Mason asked the group.
Nobody replied to his question as they just drifted away, Liam following on Stiles tail as they walked through the woods.
"What's happening?" Liam asked.
"Alright, you know that stupid lone wolf we're chasing? Well we caught him but now he's on the loose and we're thinking his going on a killing spree," Stiles said as he took the lead.
Liam stared at the ground before lifting his head up.
"A killing spree? Why couldn't you have caught him?" Liam asked.
"I don't know, probably because he's got huge claws and was massive, almost tried murderizing us all!" Stiles stated smartly. "Now all we need is a scent to track him down."
"What color were his eyes?" Liam asked his mentor's best friend.
"An alpha's but I think he's a different kind. Probably some ego maniac with a drug and alcoholic substance problem," He scoffed.
"So, Mason's safe with us at the moment?" He pointed out, thinking about his friend.
"Nobody's safe I guess." Stiles stated, rubbing his forehead in complete frustration as he walked ahead. "Why did you bring him here anyway?"
Liam thought for a moment before shrugging his shoulders.
"I don't know. H-he kept asking these questions a-and I didn't know what to say so." He told him.
"Then tell him the truth then." Stiles stated as he motioned with his hands for emphasis.
"Y-you mean…that I'm a werewolf?" He questioned.
"If he keeps bugging you, and he is your best friend and you trust him then you should tell him. I thought he'd be clever enough to see the changes, I mean I knew Scott was a werewolf like a day later." Stiles scoffed, the last part mostly directed to his past experiences.
Liam thought about all the outcomes of telling his best friend his secret and he wasn't exactly fazed over them. He stared at his hands before uttering his thoughts.
"B-but what if he freaks out?" Liam began as he began walking closer to Stiles. "What if he doesn't want to talk to me? He questioned again. "What if he tries to stab me with something silver?" He put on emphasis on that one. "Or what if-?"
Liam released a yelp as found himself being sunk into a huge hole, filled with all the leaves that covered the surface. His eyes were shocked as he stared his surroundings in the mutt hole. He groaned and waved his hands in distress.
"What the hell are you doing?" Stiles questioned as he stared down at him from above the pit.
Liam lifted his head.
Was he seriously kidding him right now?
Stiles groaned as he pinched the bridge of his nose, staring at his surroundings before turning his attention back at the beta.
"Look, this is not the time to play around in a mutt hole. You need to catch on the psychotic wolf's scent!" Stiles scolded.
Liam sighed. "Same old, same old." He murmured as he stared down at his surroundings, until he met with the sight of a shiny object. He bent down and reached for it –ruffling all the dirt off – small pendant in front of him. He didn't quite know what it was but it looked like a charm/necklace/key-looking object with crystals and ore all of it.
"Hey, look I found something." He stated, showing it up to Stiles.
"Liam put that down! You don't know he peed on it. Shame on you!" Stiles scowled. Liam chuckled as he just dropped it and extended his hand for Stiles' support; he took it and pulled him up.
Stiles and Liam then began walking up to the lake, where Scott last caught the lone wolf's scent. Liam decided he'd catch a better scent from lower down the lake.
He began sniffing the ground, kicking all the pebbles to the side trying to find a lock on the wolf's scent but nothing was able to suffice.
He caught a bar of soap lying on the center of the ground. He grinned as he picked up the unopened soap. It was probably dropped by one of the girls who were being chased, given the fact that girls love all their cosmetics and all of that.
He took a whiff of it and soaking in the jasmine scent before dropping it down. He sighed, realizing he wouldn't be able to catch a scent, and then decided to walk back to Stiles who had been hiding behind a bush, staring at bridge across the lack. He stood next to him.
"Did you get anything?" Stiles questioned, shifting behind the large tree. Liam shook his head as he kept his arm rested on the slump.
"Soap," He replied then shrugged. "It's nice."
Stiles rolled his eyes as he clicked his tongue.
"No, you idiot! I mean. Did you get a lock on his scent?" Stiles questioned. Liam shook his head.
Stiles sighed.
"This guy's suspicious…." Stiles murmured as they stared at the guy who was standing by the bridge.
"Why are you checking out a guy?" Liam said as he kept his eyes transfixed at Stiles' gaze.
"No. He's supposedly our childhood friend but I know he's hiding something because I know the childhood friend I knew back in fourth grade." He whispered, watching the muscular dirty blonde hair just stare at the horizon.
"He looks like a football player to me. Maybe that's what he's hiding," Liam said idiotically. Stiles tilted his head to glare at him slightly then shaking his head and moved his head back at its original spot.
"Shouldn't you be thinking about you girlfriend? What happened, did she finally split?" He asked Liam.
"There was a herd of deer coming for us. I didn't know what that meant. It might have probably been the wolf." Liam pointed out, not wanting to get on the Sierra topic.
He was too humiliated to even think about it.
Stiles suddenly found what he needed and the moment the dude was about to look up, Stiles widened his eyes and turned the two around.
"Go!" He murmured, ushering Liam off with his arms.
"Why?" Liam whispered back.
"Go now!" Stiles stated, shaking his head and jumping over a rock as they began sprinting. "Let's go now!"
When they reached the woods where Scott was, Liam found out that Mason wasn't with him.
"Find anything?" Scott asked as he stopped fiddling with his phone and walking up to them.
Stiles sighed shaking his head.
"Nope,"
Liam suddenly felt left out that he had nothing to contribute to this conversation, so he just stated the one thing he ticked off his bucket list of 'Awesome things I'd like to accomplish'.
"I fell in a hole." He shrugged his shoulder with a slight chuckle as he looked through his two friends.
The two just shook their heads and jumped into their various vehicles, leaving Liam dumbfounded.
"Well Kira and Lydia say the coast is clear at the school. So I think we scared him off." Scott told his best friend. Stiles nodded his head.
"Yo, Liam, Mason's at the school. I think you better talk to him." Stiles said motioning for him to come into the car.
Liam called shotgun and Stiles pulled away from the woods and dropping Liam off at the School.
When he got there, he caught Mason standing by the school looking curious and Liam just sighed as he walked up to his friend.
"What's going on, Liam?"
"Look. I don't want you to freak out but. There's something I need to tell you and I don't think it's fair for you to wait and I just want you to have a clear head first." Liam began as he stared at the ground, whilst Mason was too focused on the figure appearing from behind.
"Uh, Liam-"
"It's gonna sound really crazy but-"
"A wolf" Mason murmured, feeling and looking gob smacked.
Liam shook his head.
"No. I'm getting to that." He told his friend.
Mason shook his head, his eyes glued to the figure behind him. The furry black figure…
"There's…a wolf, right behind you!" Mason uttered as he motioned with his eyebrows.
Liam took a deep breath before tilting his head to follow his gaze and sure enough, there was a huge 120 pound furry black wolf, growling from a couple of feet away, its eyes flashing a diluted blue color.
Liam nodded. "That's a wolf." He gulped.
Mason nodded his head as the wolf took a step closer, baring its canine teeth and snarling ferociously through its slobber.
Liam and Mason soon found themselves running into the school building, sprinting up the halls, their sneakers making a squeaking sound as they ran as fast as they could with the wolf on their tail.
The moment they took a U-turn, the wolf was barely even a feet away and Mason muttered something under his breath.
Liam thought that this was probably ridiculous, because he was a werewolf on his own and maybe this act will be better than just talking about it.
He abruptly halted in his tracks whilst Mason had been heading towards the stairs. Liam kept a strong, sturdy and stern look before spinning around and bearing his own assets, his golden eyes glowed and he released a enticing yet terrorizing roar which made the wolf stop in its tracks as it backed away slightly.
Mason stopped running when he heard silence as he gripped on the wall, but slowly turning his body around, his eyes in complete and utter belief and astonishment as he saw his best friend's sudden change.
Liam slowly began calming down, shifting back to his human form as the wolf scurried away. He slowly turned his body around to confront his biggest worry, sweat still perspiring from his forehead as he panted.
"There's something I gotta tell you." Liam stated.
Mason scoffed at the understatement and shook his head, staring at his friend with wide eyes and a slight jolt of alarm. Liam was prepared for all the hatred poured onto him but instead he got a smirk and a nod of approval.
"You're a werewolf…" Mason confirmed as he widened his smile.
Liam shrugged, gnawing his lip lightly.
Mason exclaimed. "Oh, yeah!"
… …
A/N: OMG! How long has it been? But I'm back with a longer chapter this time. Lol!
What did you guys think of this chapter? Like OMG! Season 5x02 was such an inspiration for it. I mean isn't Liam just so awesome this season? Like he just says things like "Soap" "I fell in a hole" and "I'm his flight attendant." I just love Dylan Sprayberry/Liam Dunbar even more *dewy dreamy eyes*
Anywho…please review your thoughts on what you liked about this chapter, or even what you hated.
So Sierra is a descendant of witches? Interesting…
And who's this 'lone wolf'…hmm? Why were there a herd of deer? What does that pendant mean?
