Chapter 20A – Fope Wakes Up

Fope awoke in a small clearing, just in front of the Wolvark base. She had in her hands a gun. She recognised at once that it was the one belonging to Alan. But why on Earth had he given it to her?
She got to her feet and looked around. There were a few Wolvarks in front of the nearest building. It wasn't long before they noticed her. The first one to see her called on the others, and a bunch of them soon headed towards her.
"Well, well, well." The leader said, as the pack surrounded Fope. "Who's this, then?"
"I-I'm Fope." She said. "There's been a misunderstanding."
"Oh, really?" The leader laughed. "Don't give me that crap, woman!" The others burst out laughing. Fope began to tremble with the realization that she had been abandoned. She looked around for any signs of Alan and that Mudokon he'd been with. But they were nowhere to be found.
A moment or two later, Fope looked down at the ground and noticed that there was a hand-written note down there. It must have been from Alan. She leaned down to pick it up, but the Wolvarks rose their guns.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." The leader said. Two of the others stepped forwards and grabbed her by the arms.
"No," She said, dropping the note, and the gun she'd been left. "No! You can't do this to me!" The Wolvarks began to drag Fope away into the building, and the leader stayed behind to pick up the note as it fluttered towards the ground.
He held it up to the light and read the words scribbled onto it. There were just too, but were Fope's only message from Alan and Dave when they'd left her.
