Fucking Bride

13th Down: Misfortune

Hiruma was a person that never missed an opportunity. He was the first to rise to the occasion and the last to give up. If there was any remote chance of success, he would bet on it. He had such strong trust in himself. It was what he relied on when he made the team, when they won matches, and when they betted in Vegas.

He had never miscalculated until she appeared by his side. She with her sparkling blue eyes, cheerful smile, and beautiful reddish brown hair. She appeared like a storm without warning one day. She was the first person to surprise him - who could memorize all the football rules in one day or deflect his bullets? No one but her. Who could see his weak side and know what he was thinking without ever showing it? No one but her.

What Hiruma loved about Mamori wasn't her beautiful looks, she was quite frankly, stunning; it was her mind that he really cared about. Her quick wits and brain was what became an essential part of his life. Anybody could have washed uniforms or fetched water, but she was the only one that would play videotapes, re-watch them and find tactics out of them. There was no other manager as competent as she was.

But today, she wasn't a manager, she was a bride.

Her beautiful white dress swayed gracefully with her walk as she held her father's hand. White was really a color meant for her and Hiruma smiled as he saw her eyes beam with happiness. The dress had shown off her beautiful figure without it being too sexy. Her hair had wreathes of flowers in it and he watched her walk down the aisle.

He couldn't hear what the pastor was saying as his eyes were fixated on the bride. He had never seen her more beautiful than now. Not even when she wore that cheerleading outfit or his favorite, the mafia look during their high school event.

"…as your lawfully wedded husband?" Hiruma had finally tuned in and focused on the wedding. She smiled and looked at the groom.

Before he heard Mamori's answer, Hiruma walked out of the church and smiled bittersweetly.

"Be happy, fucking bride."

He had never missed an opportunity…at least until now.
