Something about Skittlez and Nathan changed, I noticed it when the two came back Nathan acted the same but Skittlez was more comfortable around Nathan. She even let him sit closer to her and touch her with out a single complaint. Seems like they are finally together, I thought from the camp fire. The two were currently next to a map discussing something while the rest of us was either resting or getting warm by the said fire. Tyler and Tiff had a fight on who got to sleep by the window in the hay loft, why they wanted it was beyond me since it would be cold up there when the fire is down here. But I guess it's because heat rises or some shit like that.
Tyler won the fight so he was currently sleeping up there while Tiff passed out by the fire to my left. Her sleeping style had her shirt raised up nearly showing her no boobs, did you know she kicks in her sleep? So even when Tiff's asleep she's a bitch. Marcelo was tired and laid on a hay stack, he was covered in blankets making him look like he was in a cocoon. Earlier today Cristina cut Marcelo's hair short so he didn't have his bush of a hair and so Tiff would stop making fun of him and said hair. Cristina found some paper, broken pencils and a wooden plank to draw on- she said that she was going to try and start drawing again so she went to the other side of the fire telling everyone to leave her alone so she could concentrate. Even now and again you could hear her screaming in anger or swearing because she made a mistake. Ashley was around doing who knows what, I tend to stay away from her since she has been unstable lately.
Jacob was out scouting the area saying that he won't be back until sun rise. Before he was just sitting trying to sleep but he got bored and got up and left saying that he will be scouting. I got up going over to the two Hunter's too see what they were doing, upon my arrival to them I saw that it wasn't a map they were looking at but a magazine for medicines. Confused I said, "What? This isn't a map. This is a magazine for different types of medicines. Skittlez are you guys planning to do something illegal?" Without looking in my direction she said, "No."
"Dangerous?"
"No." They said in unison.
"Stupid?"
"Nothing I do is stupid and no." She scoffed before she flipped a page for Nathan. I gave her the "yeah right" look. "One that's a lie and you know it and two then what the heck are you planning?!" Skittlez groaned, "If you must know Nathan and I are trying to make a cure just in case one of us get's bit." I looked at her strangely. "I never knew you and Nathan we're into that sort of stuff, wait Skittlez didn't you fail science?" She slowly turned her head towards me the way her face scrunched up sent a chill down my spine.
"Excccuuussseee you. I got a C- and that's not failing. Plus it's Nathan who is good with all this stuff I'm just a sidekick."
"That's not true Victoria." We both looked at Nathan as he stood to his full height. I felt intimidated by his height since I'm 5'3 and he looked to be 5'6 or 5'7. "Victoria you're smarter then you give yourself credit for." He spoke in his human voice as he looked down at Skittlez hunching his back so I still couldn't see his face even if he was towering over me. This got me thinking on something that was completely off topic and before I could stop myself I asked the question that's was on my mind.
"You know ever since I knew you Nathan, I never saw what you looked like under that hood. What do you look like?" They both looked at me an amused smirk made it's way on their faces. I didn't like where this was going and I had no one else to blame but myself. Though those faces did make me want to burst out laughing but then again it pissed me off.
You want to kill your friends. Yeah I want to- wait what? No I don't want to...no it's that voice again.
"Best friend?" I blinked seeing Skittlez's hand wave in my face, shaking my head a little I tried to not pay any mind to that voice. "Y-Yeah?" They looked at each other with an concerned look unsure whether or not to bring up the subject but thank God that Nathan spoke to break the silence. "I said that no one must see my face, only Victoria has and I plan to keep it that way. Sorry." I'm not sure how I felt about that but I guess it's a Hunter thing. I said "OK" then told them that I was going to sleep and to wake me up when dawn arrives. As I walked away I heard Skittlez and Nathan's little conversation, it made me smile on how adorable it was.
"Why'd you stand up- I never knew you were tall wait...I confused myself." I heard him laugh before he spoke. "To be honest I don't know why I stood up and what, you don't want me tall?"
"I never said that."
"You don't say a lot of things that you really want to say."
"That's not tr- no wait it is."
It was around midnight when I was half awoken up by the voices around me. Yet I was thankful for them since I was have such a terrible nightmare, that was something I wish to never experience again. The blood and the screams as I became insane killing and slaughtering anything that got in my way whether it was friends or small animals. That the shadows danced whenever new blood was released upon the earth. I rid of the lasting memories of the dream and concentrated on the voices. There was four no doubt, Nathan and Skittlez...Ashley and...Jacob?
"...It's the only way..." That was Nathan but what is he talking about? Only way of what?
"...I agree with him but I'm worried..." Ashley, she seems scared but of what?
"...I don't know guys...of the others?" Jacob, why was in on this?
"...I'll do it..." Skittlez what are you getting yourself into now? I willed myself awake refusing to have another incident like Hawaii. Blinking a few times I saw them by the barn door huddled in a corner in a private circle. I lifted myself up on my elbows as I squinted at them. "What are you guys talking about?" The hushed voices stopped and everyone quickly turned toward me, it was dark where they were so I couldn't see the look on their faces but my their posture I figured that I listened on something I shouldn't have.
"Did he hear?" I heard Skittlez whisper to them. "I don't know, Jake you know how to knock someone out so they can't remember the next day?" Nathan hushed over to Jacob. At this I became more awake, what did they want to keep secret that they need to make me have amnesia? Jacob was fast when he came over that I didn't even have time to get up out of my position. That last thing I heard was Ashley telling Jacob not hurt me and the last thing I saw was Jacob's fist coming down on me.
I watched my best friend punch Nemo it the balls for the second time today at lunch because of his insults. The other's at the table were already use to it so they paid no mind to the fight that occurred after. Nemo would choke Skittlez and Skittlez would flail around asking for my help. "Best friend help!" Right on cue. I nonchalantly pushed Nemo's hands away bracing myself when Skittlez engulfs me in a hug to get away from Nemo. This is a common occurrence that happens almost everyday if not everyday. Once I was engulfed into a hug I asked, "What happened now?" The rest of our group at the table tuned into the conversation for their own sick enjoyment.
"Nemo said I had a mustache!"
"She punched me in the balls!"
"You don't TELL GIRLS THEY HAVE A MUSTACHE!"
"Nemo don't be a dick apologies, you too Skittlez."
"Best friend?"
"Yeah?"
"Best friend!"
"WHat?"
"BEST FRIEND!" I awoke with a start to see Skittlez above me. "It's about damn time. What are you gonna do, sleep the whole day away?" I yawned shooing away Skittlez in the process. Blinking away my sleep I saw that everyone was already up and ready, everyone gave me an impatient look since I was the only one still not ready. Tyler helped me up along with getting ready. I put my hand to my throbbing head, "Why does my head hurt so much?" I looked to my team for answers but Tiff just huffed walking away and Tyler suggested that I just have a headache.
I looked to the others because this didn't feel like no damn normal headache. Cristina and Marcelo suggested that I hit my head in my sleep but they were no help since they were asleep before me. I looked to Skittlez's group and Jacob. Ashley didn't notice my look and carried on out the barn door while Jacob shrugged before following his team. "When you were asleep you banged your head on the barn wall pretty hard." I looked at Skittlez as we made out way out of the barn. The barn wall? I looked back to where I was sleeping. "But I wasn't by the wall." I looked back at them suspicious. "We moved you because you kept banging your head." Nathan answered this time. Thinking about it and coming up with nothing I let it go and went back to the cars.
When everyone got situated in their seats I heard Skittlez yell at us that the next time they stop will be Pennsylvania. Tiff groaned saying that It will be long until then and the weather is getting colder. I had to agree about the weather but the further we are from The Dome the better. I started the car and followed Nathan out back on the road.
Told you it was short. Now I wonder what they there talking about in secret? Hmmm...
