I was numb to the pain by now. They noticed it too; how I was unresponsive to their little games. At first they had thought I died, which peaked their intrest since I died without a critical injury. They were fairly dissapointed when I responded to their questions. Their [games] had stopped since. It wasn't fun for them anymore to poke and prod me.
The com crackled on, the voice over asked if I was ready.
"For what?"
"For Des to come back." Ah, Des. I faintly remember such a name. Was he someone of importance? When I asked who Des was, the voice over the com told me it was my other half, that I was incomplete and Des was to complete me.
"You just have to accept him." The voice finished. Not really understanding, I nodded my head- or... nodded the best I could, laying on my bed. That's when the nurses and surgeons came in, seeming more calm then they had before.
"Miss Victoria, we are going to unblock Des for you, ok?"
I didn't even bother to answer them: they already knew that I don't have that kind of freedom here. They brought over the IV, the two needles ready to inject whatever liquids into my temples. I just sat there as I listened to the fluid splash it's way into my body, the sound of it swooshed like the sound of wind blowing against my ears.
I felt pressure build up within the back of my head, the pressure slowly pushing it's way to the front before my whole head went on cool down. Like taking a bath in a tub of ice cold water, or even trying to freeze your head by sticking it in a frozen lake. I felt something, much like a presence in my mind, it felt familiar, but altered in someway. The presence felt sinister and foreign. Yet I felt no fear for the strange entity in my mind- I felt that I once had a connection to it. The nurses and surgeons in the room observed my reactions to the injection.
"Miss Victoria, what do you feel?"
"Pressure."
"Anything else?"
"Someone in my head."
"Can you speak to it for me?"
Do I know you?
My name is Des.
Des? Sounds familiar.
"Have you spoken to the person?"
"Yes."
"Ok, that's good. We would like you to let the person into your mind. Can you do that?"
"Yes."
"Do that now, please."
They say I should let you in. Do you know how to do that?
Of course, do you give me permission to control your body? To become one with me?
Yes.
I felt pressure against my eye sockets, my body tingled, near throbbing. I felt my body become weak, and slowly, I couldn't feel my body. It started at my feet, and then it went up until I couldn't feel my whole body. I was only left with my mind, but even that started to evaporate. The more it started to fade, the more I felt like I was disappearing, shrinking down to a tiny speck. And soon, even that was gone.
"Who are you?" The people who occupied the room hear a deep growl from the infected girl on the table. They smiled as the project they have been working on ended up as a success. The main surgeon spoke up, his smile couldn't be suppressed any longer.
"Now, do you know where the Hunter, Nathan, was heading?" The infected girl growled, her clawed hands began to twitch. "Are you willing to lead us to them?" They watched as the infected girl turned her head towards them, a smile creeping on her face. She bared her canine teeth- one of her bigger teeth jutted out, poking the outside of her lower lip. Satisfied with the answer the girl gave them, the surgeons told her that they were going to undo her bindings, that she could change into her outfit only if she promised not to hurt anybody. That the Dome was her friend.
When the girl, once known as Skittlez, was dressed, she dashed out of the room. Running towards freedom, she killed any human who dared to get in her way. The poor nurses and facility workers who worked at the Elites training base didn't stand a change against her. She sliced them like butter, their blood covered her and the grey walls. Their screams in sync with the screaming and yelling of the Elites in training. Surrounding workers didn't even know of the monster on a killing spree, didn't even question any if the racket.
Once the Hunter made her way outside the Dome, she was met with a thick forest. This was good for the Hunter, for she didn't have to deal with any screaming humans that would set off an alarm. She sniffed the air, getting a smell from behind the walls, just South West from here. The Hunter jumped into the trees, swinging her way over to the gate that would lead her to freedom.
The soldiers that watched the Hunter go called their leader, that she was on the move. Their tracking device beeped, giving the satellite a coordinate of her location. Once they got directions to follow her, they contacted the army to prepare for battle, that the Hunter was going to bring them to their final destination.
