OMG FINAL CHAPPPP! So this is David's POV. ALSO PLEASE READ THE END NOTE! IT'S IMPORTANT!1 I do not own L4D and enjoy

I looked down at my best friend, just staring at her unmoving body- peering into that gun hole that I had put in the back of her head. She picked a gun that wouldn't make her head a mess you wouldn't even be able to tell that she died if it wasn't for the obvious hole in her head that went out thru the old scar on her forehead, and for the blood that oozed out of the wound. The wind picked up brushing off the light layer of snow that had laid on her like some sort of blanket from the heavens. The sounds of sirens coming from the highway stirred me out of my daze. Looking in the direction of the highway that I originally planned on heading towards until fate decided to play with me, I saw flashing lights. It seems that the Dome had made a medical center...I wonder if Jacob and Marcelo are there...or even Nathan.

"Hey Skittlez, should we go see if they're there?" Silence only answered my question. Making sure that the safety was on I slid the gun in the waist of my pants. Once that was secured I bent down picking her up bridal style, holding her close to me careful for the gap in her side. "You should gain some weight best friend, you're so light it's like you could break in half any second." Looking down at her I shifted so I could put up her hood on making sure it hovered over her face. "So your eye holes don't get cold, I don't want you complaining the whole way there." I waited a few seconds before I made my journey towards the lights.

The crunching of my footfalls sounded as if it bounced off the walls of the city's buildings. My body was in a constant shiver from the relentless winds that would pick up the freshly fallen snow. I was regretting not putting up the hood on this jacket, my face was so cold it was beginning to numb. Passing by a bakery that had fallen to rubble I glanced at the sign, California's Prettiest Pies. "The weather must be fucked up if it snowing this bad here."

As I walked closer to the bustling life I stopped and stared up at the snowy sky. The snow gently kissed my lashes- such weather felt too innocent. The sky was pure white yet the ground was red, "I thought we promised to be together, always?" Yet when my ears only heard silence as your answer my lip started trembling, trying to bite it to stop its action had no effect since my legs trembled instead. Letting my legs give out I fell to the ground, I pulled you into a tight hug afraid if I loosened up you would vanish from existence. "I'm sorry." I cried into your shoulder. "I'm so sorry Victoria!" My nose was becoming numb from the amount of tears that was being shed. "Maybe there was a way to save you or, or I could have gotten help but now you're gone and there's nothing I can do to help you now. And I'm sorry for not being able to save you in time." Hearing the commotion going on just a few streets ahead I wiped my face ready to face the fire that this world created. It's time to find if I'm the only one alive. Picking you back up I found new determination, I'm going to find our last two teammates and then me and you are going home together. I don't know where our new home is going to be but I'll find one and I'll see you again soon. That's a promise.

The sounds of life was getting closer with each minuet that passed by, "Remember one of our conversations? You asked what would I do if you ever died and I always said that I would kill myself. All those times I never lied." Memories started to come back while I looked at the littlest things. Such memories stabbed at my heart like a fresh wound, each one opening that same wound but with more intensity than the other. I was going to start remembering the past with her but a certain navy blue hoodie caught my eye. I didn't even need to go up it that hoodie to confirm who it was. His jacket moving ever so slightly due to the harsh winds, the dark blood that had sprayed around him, the dents in the streetlights, walls and even cars, the shard of glass that was sticking out of the side of his head. All the way down to his light brown hair that picked up to glide with the winds. But the thing that caught my eye was his right claw was unnecessary more bloody than his left. It than clicked.

"I wounder what you and Nathan fought about. He didn't hurt you as bad so what happened to your..." I let that thought trail off to the back of my mind. "Let's just hurry." I didn't even glance back to her battlefield, I didn't even want to brood by the fact that she was fighting such a battle just a few streets down from where I was camping out. And I sure didn't feel like crying knowing that if I had just made my journey that night like I originally wanted, that maybe...just maybe I could have ran into her.

I could see our destination down the street now. The road blocks all lined up around their camp, the elite's guarding the entrances, rows and rows of military cars and tanks lined up all the way to the highway. Tents were pitched everywhere giving it the illusion of it as a tiny village. As I neared I saw people in hazmat suites and your normal soldier. From behind the highways bridge thick smoke arose bringing the smell charred flesh to my nostrils. "The medical squad must be towards the fire. They would be there...I hope." In truth I don't know where I'm going or even why I'm heading towards the very people I despise. What I did know though, is that I plan on finding a nice place to rest with you. Maybe the reason why my feet kept on walking towards those shitty people was because I wanted to know if I was truly alone. Even if they did have my other two teammates they might have killed them for treason. Hell they might kill us on sight.

I couldn't turn back out now because once the guards saw me approaching they did what I expected. They yelled at me to halt drawing their weapons and pointing those things at us. I did as they command since I didn't want any trouble. One of them pressed their finger to their ear speaking softy to whoever was on the opposite end of that channel. The other was still, as a one of the icicles on the gutter of a house. After a few stress seconds the one who spoke on the headset seem to have stared at Skittlez, I couldn't really tell by the mask they wore. I got more nervous when what seemed like two teams of elites came marching up the the front lines also aiming their guns at us. "Please all I want to know is if you have-"

"You are to remain silent! Under the command of the leader of the Dome we are here to take you to our commanding officer. If you are holding any weapons we strongly advise you to hand them over immediately! If we find you a threat we wont hesitate to kill you. Do you understand these conditions?" I paused looking down at you, I could feel the life seeping out of me as your head slowly slipped off my arm, your hood coming off of you reveling your face to the soldiers ahead. Even in death you look like you were in a peaceful slumber. "I...I do." I looked back up to them awaiting they're next command.

"Now, put it down."

"W-what-"

"Put it down!" Hugging you closer I took a step back- they couldn't be talking about Skittlez...right? Could they not see how injured you were, that you were not even a possible threat to them?! "I don't understand what-" I jumped when they did a warning shot. My hands started to shake from the thought of putting you in the hands of The Dome. I bit my lip as I set Skittlez down gently on the soft snow, the snow hugged you- welcoming you to its home as if that snow was untouched to man and you were it's first guest. My voice was a cracking mess when I said, "I'm sorry" to you, hoping you would move to look at me and say your usual "It's whatev."

I had no chance to fix your hood to it's natural position for you for the Domes soldiers had already pushed me to the ground forcing my hands to my head. My head was forced look at Skittlez since one of their knees pressed to the side of my face. I felt two others hold my hands while two each pressed their knees to my legs. Another stepped on my back making me completely unable to move. I watched as they roughly turned your head to them so they could see if you were alive or not. "Dead." One of them said tossing your face to the side. "Bring it." The leader said as he kicking your body over like you were some sort of can on the street to kick around to cure ones boredom. Just seeing you being tossed around fueled my dying anger, making it from a dying candlelight to a raging house fire.

"She's not an 'it'!" I struggled to break free from their hold on me. The leader turned around to look down it at me, I heard them chuckle before he crouched to my level. "Then what's it's name?" I couldn't help but snarl at him. "Her name is Victoria." The leader cocked their head to the side, "Really? I'm sorry for calling, Victoria, an it". Getting up he turned to his underlings, "Bring it with us, and extra eyes on David." With that he up and left towards the entrance to the camp they set up.

They grabbed you- yanking you up just so they could fling you over their shoulder. I tried to get up but they still pinned me down, only when you were a few feet away is when they grabbed me by hair to get me to stand. One of them held my hands to my head with their gun pressed to my back. "Walk." The short walk to the camp was in silence, it was when we actually entered the camp they held you like I had.

My eyes wounder around the camp searching for my other two teammates. But what I saw was unexpected from what I originally thought; people in hazmat suits were running around tending to the wounds of soldiers, carrying dead soldiers to the huge fire that was past the bridge, body bags were in piles on the sidewalk waiting to be either burned or taken away, medical tents were everywhere each one filled with the dying. The mere smell of the burning bodies burned my nose, I wanted to cover it but the tightening of the grip on my wrists made me think otherwise. Soldiers called out to find their friends while others sat in the corners morning their lost comrades. But as we got deeper inside the camp more and more bystanders stopped to watch us pass, their eyes staring at me before they glued themselves to Skittlez.

Coming to the front of fire I saw a man with his back straight, his hands behind his back as he watched the fire. He was at the first stage of balding but you could see that he had light brown hair. His suite and tie had no snow only meaning he just decided to come out to meet me. Just by observing this mans backside I already knew that he was The Leader of the Dome, the father of Nathan and the enemy of Skittlez. Seeing movement to my right I looked over to see the two I was looking for. Jacob was leaning on the wall watching the scene unfold with curious eyes while Marcelo was sitting down on the snow his arms resting on his knees. Once he saw me he began to wave but after he noticed that Skittlez was laying in the leader's hands his eyes hardened. They exchanged a few words before walking towards us.

"So, this is who my son was in love with." The leader turned around looking me over, "I see the outside world hasn't done you well, David." I clenched my jaw, I refuse to speak with such an evil person- all I did was watch as he handled you with care and even that pissed me off. All he ever wanted to do was kill you and yet he hold you with such care like you were his own child. "You are upset, I understand. We did things I am not proud of but it was necessary but you must understand it was for the better good." I would of spat at his feet if it wasn't for the fact that he held you. "Killing innocent people-"

"They were infected David."

"They were the same as us! They had thoughts and feelings!" The soldiers hold me pressed his gun harder to my back. The leader took no mind to my comment for he just brushed the bangs out of your eyes. "But I must ask, what were you planning on doing?" Should I tell him?

"I...I was planning to find a nice place for us to...rest." He seemed to take my hint as and so did everyone else. "Ah, sir." Jacob stepped up closer and I saw that he seemed, sick. When I looked at his bloodshot eyes I got the hint on what was wrong. "Why don't we bring both of them with us back, give him a second chance like you granted us." The leader turned back to me, "David if I allowed you a second chance would you take the offer?" I looked to Skittlez.

"No. No I was with her from the beginning and I plan on being with her to the end." The leader nodded dismissing Jacob but told Marcelo to report to one of the medical tents. Jacob returned to his spot by the wall, but he was watching making sure that nothing would go out of hand. He handed Skittlez back to the leader of the squad as he took his leave. He paused beside me, "Did you so happen to see my son out there?" He glanced at me. "Yes." I glanced back at him. "Is he..." He let the question hang, I nodded. "I see. Pity." He walked past me ordering his final command. "Hand back to David and let them pass. We have no business with them." I let out my breath.

You are my sunshine

Their Leader was going to hand me back you but once the Dome Leader was out of sight he yanked you out of my hands. His underling pushing me to the ground.

My only sunshine

"I don't think Leader was thinking straight." Jacob straightened up and I looked up, my eyes widen as he took off his mask reveling his laughing face. "Give Skittlez back! He said we could leave!" I tried to get up but they held my shoulders down forcing me to sit in the melted snow.

You make me happy, when sky's are grey

Jacob must of saw the leader inching towards the fire but the other soldiers tackled him to the ground also. "You were ordered to free them Nick!" He yelled but they silenced him by shoving his face in the mud. I screamed to let you go, I struggled so hard to try and get up but it was futile. "Just let us go!" He was cradling you like a baby- rocking you back and forth, too close to the fire.

You never know dear

"Let them go Nick!"

"Please just give her back!" The fire was illuminating their faces now.

How much I love you

"Kill me instead! Please!"

"This is pointless Nick!" He swung you higher and closer to the fire.

So please,

"Nick no!"

"Victoria!"

I screamed as I watched you get thrown into the fire, the flames engulfing your body in a matter of seconds.

Don't take

"I'LL KILL YOU!" In pure rage I broke free from their hands and charged towards him. He smiled as he took his gun out pointing it at me, I could practically see down the barrel- but that didn't stop me. "Nick don't!"

My sunshine away.

The sound of the barrel going off was the last thing I ever heard.
