Ch.8 College Bound

Caroline POV:

Caroline lay on her bed in her room finishing up some extra work that she needed before beginning any future college classes. It had been nearly a month since she had sent in her college applications and gone to the mall with Klaus. They had hung out a lot since then, but had spent a little less time with each other because Caroline was preparing for college and had gotten a job to start saving up money.

They had texted back and forth the previous week, him telling her all the new art pieces he had worked on and already finished and how he was thinking of loaning out a few of them to a local art museum to be shown. She congratulated him on his success, and that's where their conversation ended. Was it just her or was he distancing himself from her for some reason? Well, she sure hoped not, she would be leaving for college soon if she got in, and wanted their remaining time together to be perfect. Maybe she was just being paranoid?

She checked her e-mail, hoping that one of the colleges she applied for sent out a message saying that they had mailed the letters of acceptance. She logged in and let out an excited shriek as she saw that UCSD had sent out their letters.

As soon as she saw that it was mailed she was out of her house and at her mail box outside of her house in a flash. As she opened her box she flipped through the letters and found out the other schools had already sent theirs out also. She tore them all open and slapped the papers open, getting the creases out all at once.

First in line was UCSD, her second choice college. She quickly scanned the letter and jumped up and down as she saw she had indeed been accepted.

"Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!" she screamed super loud, earning herself a few confused stares from her neighbors outside.

In her celebration, she had not noticed the shiny-expensive car pull into her driveway across the street. She was too engrossed in getting enough courage to see if she had gotten into the next school. She hoped it was her third pick on the next paper, but she could never guess. Before she had the guts to turn the paper, somebody grabbed her from behind, momentarily stunning her and pulling her into a hug. Caroline quickly shoved the papers into her back pocket, wiping them off of her mind and getting lost in Klaus' marvelous scent as they hugged.

Caroline suddenly remembering the past couple days of not really seeing him or talking to him she pulled away and put on her best scowl.

Caroline gave him a little shove and exclaimed, "About time you showed up Mr. Mikaelson! I was beginning to think you had forgotten about your simple vampire girlfriend!"

"Hmm," he grumbled, "I really don't believe that is a possible thing to do considering I am just totally and completely infatuated with you love."

She just couldn't do it. Never was she really able to stay angry with him for long. She dropped her scowl and smiled. "You are just quite impossible to stay angry with. I'm never able to keep myself from smiling at your irresistible flattery."

He smirked in response, pulling her by the hand back to him. "That's the point love." He said confidently.

She rolled her eyes playfully, and allowed herself to be pulled back into his chest. She had only been away from him for a few days, but it had felt like a month. So quickly she had fallen for this mysterious Mikaelson and she knew she couldn't and will never stop loving him.

What was she really going to leave behind if she left for college? Suddenly the papers in her pocket became heavy and she knew she would have to address the situation with him again eventually now that she had been accepted into one of her top picks. Before she could give it another thought, he jerked her out of her realization and looked her in the eyes.

"We are going to do something fun today." he said pointedly. "You know, to make up for my lack of attention I've given you for the past couple days."

"Alright then. I'll go get my shoes." Considering she had bolted out of her door going to the mailbox she hadn't put any on.

"I suggest you choose a pair of sandals for this excursion." He called after her as she ran back into her house.

Caroline disappeared from his sight, throwing the mailbox key back into her fruit bowl on the counter inside. She went to her room and slipped her feet into a pair of sandals as Klaus had suggested she wear. She headed back outside and stood in front of him.

"Now that I am properly outfitted in such recommended footwear, we can go to your new mystery location I'm sure you won't tell me about."

"Yep, just get in the car. You won't be disappointed." He grinned as he held open the passenger door for her. "After you miss."

They then pulled out into the street and headed on their way to their next adventure.
