I have no excuses for this story not being updated. Other than writers block. I will apologize though as this chapter is short and I really didn't like it. I have lost all focus with this story and no longer remember where I was going with it. I thought if anything I would at least get off that cliff hanger and finally get to my fav part. I don't know if another chapter will ever be added so I will put discontinued on the description or might just delete. I'm sorry to those who were loving the story and really wanted more but until inspiration hits me I'm at a stand still.

Also sorry for the long A/N

Disclaimer: I do not own The Walking dead

They heard the screaming coming from the camp, the cries for help, the cries of pain and they could hear as screams were cut off abruptly. The panic that rushed through each member of the small group that came back from Atlanta was great as they barreled into the massacre. Left right and center they could see members of their camp being eaten alive, or thankfully, not alive. The panic rushed through Daryl as everyone of them looked on to the rest of the screaming group. Mostly everyone had made it up by the rv and were taking refuge inside of it or using it as a way to keep the walkers away from their backs. Daryl fired off a few arrows as Rick and company shot at the walkers. Downing those gnawing on their friends. Rick was rushing toward his family and Daryl couldn't blame him as he glanced back to make sure Merle was alright. His attention was caught by movement in the corner of his eye and he looked over to see a walker coming up behind Carol. His hearing finally seemed to kick in and he could hear her screaming at her husband. Daryl's jaw clenched as he saw the man holding Sophia in front of him like a human shield. Anger filled him as he quickly began moving in their direction. He hollered at Carol to watch out as he let loose an arrow toward the walker behind her. It lodged itself in the walkers skull and Carol looked at him in surprise. He nodded at Ed and Sophia and he saw a look flash in her eyes as she got up and grabbed hold of Sophia.

Ed was caught by surprise as Daryl barreled into him and his grip on Sophia loosened as the two men crashed to the ground. Daryl's crossbow landed a short ways away as they impacted the ground. Ed's breath wooshed out of him and he didn't have time to draw in another as Daryl's fist impacted his face.

Daryl could hear more gunshots as if far in the distance as his fist hit Ed again. All he could picture was this bastard using his own daughter as a shield and his rage fired up again. Before he could hit Ed again however he heard his name being called and he looked up to see another walker going at Carol and Sophia. Carol had Sophia behind her back as she locked eyes with the walker and Daryl quickly got up off of Ed and drew his knife from his back waistband.

"Get back" he grunted out as he thrust the knife toward the walkers head. His aim was off and his knife sunk into it's shoulder. Daryl yanked his blade back out and quickly plunged it into the walkers head. With the walker down Daryl looked up at Carol and Sophia. Tear stains streaked down both of their faces. He was half way telling them to head to where the others are when Carol's eyes widened. This was the only hint he had before he felt an impact against his back that sent him stumbling. Ed had gotten back up and wasn't happy. He was spoiling for a fight and Daryl was perfectly willing to comply.

Recovering quickly from his stumble Daryl wasted no time in going back at Ed. The other man might have been bigger, but Daryl was quicker and more tough.

"Butting your nose in other peoples business" Ed grunted as they exchanged blows. Daryl bit back a snarl, "In case you didn't notice, there's fucking man eating things killin everyone. And here you are usin your daughter as a fucking shield! What kind of man are you?" Daryl smashed his fist again against Ed's face. The other man made a sound of pain and took a few steps back. He lifted his fingers to his cut cheek and growled out, "She's my daughter and I damn well use her as I please"

Daryl was about to go at him again when a figure rushed past him.

"No you won't!" Carol hollered and she shoved Ed hard. Right into a walker that had come toward the men fighting. Carol's gaze was steady as she watched Ed's face contort in fear as he realized what had just happened. She couldn't help but flinch as the walker bit down on Ed's left cheek. Ed cried out in agony and brought his hands up to try and push the walker away with no luck. The walkers fingers dug into Ed's flesh with the strength of blades, tearing flesh away.

Carol jumped as she felt a hand rest on her shoulder.

"We gotta go" Daryl's voice held no sympathy for the man being torn apart not far away. Carol quickly turned away from the sight and rushed to her crying daughter. Daryl following right behind them, taking out a couple more walkers as they went.

The battle was winding down now that the men who went to Atlanta had returned and the walkers were soon all taken out. Cries from the children and heavy breathing was heard from everyone at the trailer. Sophia was still crying silent tears and she held onto her mother. Carol held on to her tight, trying to give comfort to her.

Everyone was quiet as the silent cries of Andrea could be heard over her sister. No one said anything, not knowing what even could be said about something like this.

Carol held Sophia tight as Andreas cries continued to ring out along the crowd of people, she felt horrible being happy her daughter was safe and alive when a good friend was in so much pain over the loss of her sister.

After a while Sophia took a step from her mom and looked up at Daryl, who was still standing beside them. Noticing her movement Daryl looked down at her, his mouth in a grim line at what was going on around them. Sophia quickly wiped away her tears and gave him a small smile.

"Thank you" she told him quietly. Daryl gave a short nod of his head and gave Carol a look before walking off toward his brother not wanting to stand in the crowd looking over the poor woman and her dead sister.

Carol watched him go, conflicting emotions running through her. She had caused Ed's death. Sure he was a bad guy, an abuser, but he was still her husband. She couldn't help but feel a bit of guilt. But if she hadn't Sophia could very well have been killed and that was by far worse in Carol's eyes. Sophia turned to her mother again and Carol brought her in for another hug. She held her tight as she surveyed the ruins of the camp trying not to focus an Andrea. Bodies littered the ground, blood pooling in the dirt. It was a gruesome sight. The fear and pain, the loss of the night would weigh heavily on everyone. Every single person.

I hope it wasn't as bad as I think it is. Drop a review if you'd like. Healthy criticism is always appreciated. I hope some day I can continue this story 3
